Unlike Li Bai, this poet wrote in various styles, and his works were often innovative(创新的) in language and subject matter. His poems were also filled with meaning. His innovation was not at all welcome. The readers of his time rarely showed much appreciation of his original and innovative works. The masses in fact hated and scolded them. Like many artists, Du Fu was only recognised for his genius long after his death. Du Fu was born in Luoyang, Henan Province. Although he came from an influential literary family, his early attempts to gain a position in the government by way of the exam system failed repeatedly. He was 43 years old when he finally managed to hold an official position. This was the time when Emperor Xuanzong was attracted to the beautiful Yang Yuhuan and made her his concubine(妃子), which Du Fu severely criticised in his SongoftheBeautifulLadies. As the emperor got distracted from important government affairs, some military leaders were becoming too powerful. Du Fu took office in 755, and in the same year a rebel(叛乱) leader An Lushan led his army into the capital of Tang Dynasty. The emperor fled to the west and left the governing of the state to his son. Du Fu and his family took the road north to escape the rebels. The poet left his family and tried to get to the headquarters of the new emperor, but he was caught and held prisoner by the rebels in Chang'an. After order was restored again, Du Fu got back his position in the capital. However, he did not enjoy the favour of the new emperor and was given a minor provincial post. In 759 he finally left this disgraceful position and spent the rest of his life wandering around the country. 26.What do we know about Li Bai's poems? A.They were consistent in style. B.They were like the poems of Du Fu. C.They used more complex language. D.They were written in various styles. 27.What can we infer about Du Fu from the third paragraph? A.He didn't like to be an official. B.He was not loyal to the emperor. C.He became an official in his thirties. D.He cared about government affairs. 28.What happened in the late years of Du Fu's life? A.He changed his writing style. B.He wandered around the country. C.He was called back by the emperor. D.He enjoyed his minor provincial post. 29.What is the text mainly about? A.Du Fu's political career. B.Du Fu's poetry and his life. C.The rule of Emperor Xuanzong. D.Du Fu's contribution to the Tang Dynasty. 阅读理解 A few years ago, we celebrated frankenstein's 200th birthday. This famous book, written by Brilish novelist Mary Shellcy (1797-1851), is rightly known as the first work of science fiction. Frankenstein is the name of a doctor who creates a creature from human body parts. The doctor's ambitions for his work are noble, but his experiment has disastrous results. Shelley was writing in an age when science was beginning to have a great impact on the world. People had different attitudes toward science back then. Some found it inspiring—they thought of the progress medicine was making in curing common illnesses. But others found it a little frightening—it was changing life, making it a lot less familiar. Science plays a bigger part in our lives than it did two centuries ago. Today, science has brought us great things like the internet, but also nuclear weapons, which, if used in large numbers, could kill off our species. Science still therefore creates the mixed feelings it did in Shelley's day. It's because Shelley saw both the promise and the danger of science that she's still an influence today. In fact, he subtitle of the book, The Modern Prometheus (普罗米修斯), shows how important myth (神话) was to the writer. Prometheus, a figure from classical Creek mythology, written by ancient Creek playwright Sophocles, steals fire from the gods and gives it to people, an act for which he is terribly punished. Shelley's husband, the famous poet Percy Shelley, wrote about him in PrometheusUnbound. In the poem, he is a revolutionary hero, who triumphs over the gods. In Mary Shelley's book, however, her modern Prometheus, Dr Frankenstein, is a highly controversial figure, who sacrifices his home and life for his crazy addiction to his creation. In short, Mary Shelley's book is not just a scary and moving slory, but a philosophical tale that, even after 200 years, still speaks to modern readers. 30.What can we know about Dr Frankenstein and the creature he made? A.He created it with animal parts. B.He managed to kill it in the end. C.He created it with good intentions. D.He was aware of its dangers before its creation. 31.Why do today's readers still relate to Mary Shelley? A.Her work discusses what it means to be human. B.Her work warns people of the two sides of science. C.Her work explains that any life deserves our respect. D.Her work proves the important role of science in life. 32.Compared with Promcthcus in Greck mythology, Dr Frankenstcin ____. A.is a revolutionary hero B.has inspired many poets C.causes some disagreement D.suffers little for what he does 33.What is the text? A.A book review. B.A news report. C.A short story. D.A biography. 阅读理解 Casting blame is natural: it is tempting to fault someone else for a mistake rather than taking responsibility yourself. But blame is also harmful. It makes it less likely that people will admit mistakes, and thus less likely that organizations can learn from them. Research published in 2015 suggests that firms whose managers pointed to external factors to explain their failings underperformed companies that blamed themselves. Blame culture asks, "who dropped the ball?" instead of "where did our systems and processes fail?" The focus is on the individuals, not the processes. It's much easier to point fingers at a person or department instead of doing the harder, but the more beneficial, exercise of fixing the root cause, so the problem does not happen again. The No Blame Culture was introduced to make sure errors and deficiencies(缺陷)were highlighted by employees as early as possible. It originated in organizations like-hospitals, submarines and airlines. Because errors can be so disastrous in these organizations, it's dangerous to operate in an environment where employees don't feel able to report errors that have been made or raise concerns that deficiencies may turn into future errors. The No Blame Culture maximizes responsibility because all contributions to the event occurring are identified and reviewed for possible change and improvement. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which supervises air traffic across the United States, makes it clear that its role is not to assign blame or legal responsibility but to find out what went wrong and to issue recommendations to avoid a repeat. The proud record of the airline industry in reducing accidents partly reflects no-blame processes for investigating crashes and close calls. The motive to learn from errors also exists when the risks are lower. That is why software engineers and developers routinely investigate what went wrong if a website crashes or a server goes down. There is an obvious worry about embracing blamelessness. What if the website keeps crashing and the same person is at fault? Sometimes, after all, blame is deserved. The "just culture" developed by James Reason, addresses the concern that the incompetent and the malevolent(恶意的)will be let off the hook. The line that Britain's aviation regulator draws between honest errors and the other sort is a good starting-point. It promises a culture in which people "are not punished for actions or decisions taken by them that go with their experience and training". That narrows room for blame but does not remove it entirely. 34.According to the research published in 2015, companies that ____ had better performance. A.blamed external factors B.admitted mistakes C.conducted investigations D.accepted failures 35.According to the passage, the No Blame Culture ____. A.encourages the early disclosure of errors B.only exists in high reliability organizations C.enables people to shift the blame onto others D.prevents organizations from learning from errors 36.What is the major concern about embracing blamelessness according to the passage? A.Being blamed for mistakes can destroy trust in employees. B.The line between honest errors and the other sort is not clear. C.Innocent people might take the blame by admitting their failure. D.People won't learn their lessons if they aren't blamed for failures. 37.Which of the following is the best title for the passage? A.How to Avoid Disastrous Errors in Organizations B.Why We Fail to Learn from Our Own Mistakes C.Why We Should Stop the Blame Game at Work D.How to Deal with Workplace Blame Culture 四、第二节(共5小题:每小题2. 5分。满分12. 5分 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Everyone feels a little jealous(嫉妒的)once in a while. Professor James walked into the classroom and announced that he had invited a special guest to class, but his guest had been delayed. The class stirred with curiosity and anticipation. "Who is coming?" someone asked. "All I will tell you is that he is the author of one of the books you have read for this class," he said. "I need a volunteer to meet him and guide him here." To my amazement, my right hand shot up. I never volunteer for anything. I'm introverted(内向的), shy, and uncomfortable meeting new people. In fact, I'm absolutely the wrong person for the job. Realizing my mistake, I put my hand down quickly, but it was too late. "Thank you, David," said Professor James. "You'd better leave now. He will be arriving any minute." Seeing no way to back out, I reluctantly got out of my seat and headed for the classroom door. When I reached it, I stopped. "Umm," I said. "If I don't know who this person is, how will I recognize him? I would hate to bring back the wrong guy." Professor James laughed. "Good point," he said. He pulled me aside and whispered a name in my ear. "Alex Haley," he said. "Really?" I said. I regretted for volunteering. Why me? Alex Haley is one of the authors of The Autobiography of Malcolm X : As Told to Alex Haley. He is so famous. As I walked across the campus, my anxiety grew. I feared that I was about to embarrass myself in front of the famous gentleman by asking stupid questions, or worse, by guiding him in painful silence. I could learn from him. 注意: 1.续写词数应为 150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I paced back and forth until a man with a briefcase(公文包) entered the building. My fear was replaced by curiosity and admiration. I told him I wanted to be a writer, but I didn't know if I had the talent. He laughed and said, "There is no magical gift. Put in the work. Write every day, and don't give up until you succeed." Encouraged by Mr Haley, I stopped worrying whether I had the talent for writing. Instead, I started accumulating writing materials and practised writing every day. Whatever happened, I stuck to my initial aspiration and kept in the right track.
