①I still remember last year’s Talent Show in our school clearly. It was a big event, and everybody was excited to show their skills at the Talent Show.
②A week before the Talent Show, we started preparing. My classmate Becky played the piano really well. Her fingers danced on the keys, and the music always made us feel happy. Julie was great at singing English songs—her voice was so sweet. Jeff loved Chinese kung fu and could show cool moves. After school, they were all busy preparing for the show. But I had nothing to do. What could I do?
③To my surprise, my classmate, Laura, asked me to be an actor for a puppet show (木偶戏) at the opening ceremony (开幕式) with her! “Me? Can I?” “Yes!” she answered. When I was free, I studied the play carefully and practiced it really hard. I also learned from my classmates when I did something wrong. Finally, the opening-ceremony puppet show was amazing. Everyone in my class gave me a big hand. I cried but felt happy.
④Two days later, I shared an English story at the Talent Show. I never did that before. I worried about it at first. But I didn’t want to give up. I looked for some useful ways on the Internet and asked my teachers for some help. When the big day finally came, I told the story really well. Many people came to watch the show, and they cheered loudly for me. I was so proud of myself!

In the past, the break time between classes was 10 minutes. But now it’s 15 minutes. This change catches the attention of students, parents, and teachers, each with their own ideas.
For students, the extended (延长的) break is like a breath of fresh air. They now have more time to relax and do things they are interested in. Some play games with friends, which helps them feel less worried. Others take a short walk, getting some exercise. However, some students worry that they might get too distracted (分心) during the longer break and it’s hard for them to focus in the next class.
Parents generally support the change. Their children can have a better balance between study and rest, which is good for their health. Besides, longer breaks are helpful to make students’ social skills better as they have more time to interact (互动) with classmates. But some parents also care about safety problems during the longer breaks.
The teachers can have casual chats during this longer time. So they think it’s a good chance to build a better relationship with children. However, they also need to make teaching plans wisely enough to make sure the longer breaks make no difference to lessons.
All in all, the 15-minute break has both advantages and challenges (机遇和挑战). With right guidance, it can bring more good to everyone.

A Travel Experience
Last summer, I visited Guilin with my family. It’s a beautiful city with green mountains and clear rivers. We took a bamboo boat along the Li River and enjoyed the amazing views. The mountains looked like huge green walls, and the water was so clear that we could see fish swimming. We also tried local food like Guilin rice noodles. They tasted really delicious!
During the trip, we also protected the environment. We always put our rubbish in bins. We even joined in an activity to clean up the beach. I felt proud to help keep the environment clean.
This trip made me know that travelling is not only for having fun but also for protecting the environment. I hope more people will love our planet when travelling.
An Outdoor Activity
Last autumn, I went mountain climbing with my friends. At first, we felt excited to walk up paths and steps. An hour later, we got tired. But the amazing view we could enjoy from the top attracted us. So we cheered each other up and kept going. When we finally stood on the top of the mountain, the view took our breath away.
The most unforgettable moment came when we stopped for a short rest during the trip. We noticed some rubbish left by other climbers. We picked it up and put it in the right place. In fact, simple things mean a lot.
After that, I not only feel more confident in the face of difficulties, but also know the importance of protecting the environment.
