Some students become worried because they have to study very hard. Others have trouble getting along with people like their parents and classmates. These mental (心理的) health problems can affect their health and daily lives. Zhang Hua, a junior 3 student from Nanjing, had difficulties in understanding his teachers and his lessons. He became so worried about his grades that he started to bite his nails (咬指甲) really hard as a way to deal with his stress. Another student, 13-year-old Li Mei from Chengdu, was very afraid of exams. During one exam she felt so nervous that she couldn’t think of anything to write. Her hands shook, and she couldn’t focus on the questions. A recent report from Jiefang Daily says that about 20% of teenagers in Shanghai have mental health problems. These problems can be like feeling anxious or stressed, and they can get worse if we don’t care about them. Wang Xiaoming, a well-known expert on teenage mental health from Beijing Children’s Hospital, gives the following advice to teenagers: -Talk to your parents or teachers often. -Join group activities and play sports. -If you feel unhappy or unwell, don’t be afraid to see a doctor. Taking care of mental health early and getting support can really help a teenager’s life. 1.What is one of the common mental health problems of young people according to Paragraph 1? Naomi Drew, the writer of The Kids’ Guide to Working Out Conflicts: How to Keep Cool, Stay Safe, and Get Along, gives kids some useful advice on getting on with friends. Q1: One of my friends often hangs out with us, but he has never invited me. What can I do? A1: If a friend does something you don’t like, don’t be afraid to talk to him. Don’t be angry with him. Try to make him understand your feelings so that you can work through it together. Q2: My friend is rude (无礼的) to other people. She said if I didn’t like her, she would stop being my friend. A2: Do what you believe is right and you can even find some new friends. Q3: My friend and I argue a lot. Although we’ll be friends again soon, I don’t like it. What should I do? A3: “Winning an argument” isn’t always important. Next time when you argue, let your friend “win” if the thing is not important to you. If you give in (让步) a little, so may your friend. And remember, probably your friend isn’t wrong. He or she just sees things differently. 1.What does Naomi Drew do? A.A writer. B.A reporter. C.A guide. D.A teacher. 2.What’s the advice for Q1? A.Find a friend. B.Understand others. C.Have a talk. D.Hang out often. 3.Which of the following is Naomi Drew’s opinion? A.If an argument happens, don’t be friends again. A.Because you are too angry to accept the truth. B.Because he or she just sees things differently. C.Because he or she is older than you. D.Because you are not always right. 5.Whom might this article be for? A.Adults who need some useful advice on getting on with friends. B.Men who need some useful advice on getting on with friends. C.Women who need some useful advice on getting on with friends. D.Kids who need some useful advice on getting on with friends. You may not realize it, but you are doing much more than just studying when you are at school. School is also the place where you learn to get on well with people. But this is not always easy. What can you do if you just don’t like one of your classmates? If you find that you have problems getting on with your classmates or friends, the most important thing to learn is tolerance (宽容). Tolerance is the ability to realize and respect (尊重) the differences in others. We can’t change the way that other people do, so it is important to learn to live happily with them. Tolerance will make everyone get on better with each other. Getting to know someone may help you understand why they do things differently. Something different does not exactly mean that it is bad. Tolerance teaches us to keep a temperate and open mind. You need to remember an old saying, “Treat (对待) others how you want to be treated.” If you tolerate something, it does not mean that you have to like it. No one is asking you to change who you are or what you believe in. Tolerance just means that you should respect the differences in others and not try to make them change. It is important to practice tolerance, because it will make everyone’s life easier. Learn to accept people for their different abilities and interests. The world is very different, and practicing tolerance in your own school and city can help make a difference. 根据材料内容选择最佳答案。 1.From the first paragraph we know that at school ________. They make life wonderful. Children who have friends are less lonely (孤独的). They can also feel fantastic. As children grow up, their ideas about friends will change. Before going to school, their friends are their playmates. Although these friendships may not seem very important, they bring children a lot of happiness. At school, children start to have their own ideas about friendship (友谊). Friends are not only those they play with, but also those they like to talk and share everything with. Friends are those they like to do many different things with. At the same time, they also learn about how to get along with friends. Friends are nice to each other: they’re helpful, and they protect (保护) each other. In the early years of children, these ideas about friendship change further. During this time, young children start to know the importance of sharing private information with friends. Each season was very different, but two of them didn’t get along very well. Which two were they? Well, they are Winter and Summer. Summer didn’t like cold days or snow, but Winter didn’t like hot days or rain. One day, the four seasons held a meeting to solve the problem. During the meeting, Spring and Autumn said Winter and Summer should get along well, because the four seasons were all important to the circle (循环) of life on the earth. Spring said, “Winter, all living things are able to live because of you. There is much water when the ice melts. And Summer, there’s life on the earth because of you and your great sunlight. So you are both very important.” After hearing the words, Winter and Summer started to think, and then Winter said, “You are right. Now, I understand. We must be united (团结的), because each of us has a different job to keep the life on the earth.” And that was how Winter and Summer finally understood that being united was the only way for the four seasons to keep the balance on the earth. 1.Why did the four seasons hold a meeting? A.To learn how the ice melts. B.To enjoy the great sunshine from Summer. C.To show how many different seasons on the earth. D.To make Winter and Summer get along well with each other. 2.According to the story, the four seasons could only keep the balance on the earth by ________. A.being simple B.being helpful C.being friendly D.being united 3.What can we learn from the story? A.No problems were dealt with at the meeting. B.Only sunlight was needed to keep all living things alive. C.The four seasons played different roles in keeping the life on the earth. D.Spring and Autumn said they were the most important at the meeting. These days, living and dealing with kids can be difficult, but living and dealing with parents can be more difficult. If I have learned anything in my 16 years, it is that communication is very important, both when you disagree and when you get along. With any relationship, you need to let other person know how you are feeling. If you are not able to communicate, you drift apart. When you are mad at your parents, or anyone else, not talking to them doesn’t solve any problems. Communication begins with the concerns (关心) of another. It means that you can’t just come home from school, go up to your room and take no notice to anyone. Even if you just say “Hi”, and see how their day was for five minutes, it is better than nothing. If you looked up the word “communication” in a dictionary, it would say “the exchange of ideas, the conveyance (传递) of information, correspondence (通信), ways of communication; a letter or a message”. To keep a good relationship, you must keep communication strong. Let people know how you feel, even if it’s just by writing a note. When dealing with parents, you always have to make them feel good about how they are doing as a parent. If you are trying to make them see something as you see it, tell them that you’ll listen to what they have to say, and ask them politely to listen to you. Shouting and walking away only makes the situation worse. Here is an example: one night, Sophie went to a street party with her friends. She knew she had to be home by midnight after the fireworks, but she didn’t think she could just ask to go home. That would be rude (粗鲁的). After all, they had been nice enough to take her along with them. Needless to say, she was late getting home. Her parents were mad at first, but when Sophie explained why she was late, they weren’t as mad as before and let it go. Communication is the key here. If Sophie’s parents had not been willing to listen, Sophie would have been in a lot of trouble.     Communication isn’t a one-way matter: it goes both ways. Just remember: if you get into a situation like Sophie’s, you should tell the other person how you feel and listen carefully at the same time. 1.What does the writer mainly tell us in the passage? A.It’s so difficult to keep good relationship with the people around us. B.It’s easier to get along well with parents than with kids in a family. C.It’s so important to communicate with each other in our daily lives. D.It’s very dangerous to make other people know what we are feeling. 2.What does the underlined phrase “drift apart” in the passage mean? A.stay away from others B.argue with others C.fall behind the others D.make friends with others 3.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A.We have to walk away in order to avoid having an argument with others. B.It’s helpful to start communication with greetings or short conversations. C.We’d better keep silent if we disagree with anyone in the communication. D.It’s necessary to let other people know how we feel by shouting at them. 4.What’s the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage? A.To talk about the main steps of communicating with other people. B.To introduce some proper ways to communicate in our daily lives. C.To give some reasons why we should make a communication strong. D.To tell us what we should do in order to keep a good communication. They are called Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. 【答案】1.C 2.A 3.B 4.D 【导语】本文谈论的是人际关系,介绍了交流沟通的好处、如何与人交流,以Sophie为例强调了双向沟通的重要性。 1.主旨大意题。根据“If I have learned anything  in my 16 years, it is that communication is very important, both when  you disagree and when you get along. ”可知,作者用16年的生活阅历告诉我们,日常生活中彼此的交流和沟通是很重要的。故选C。 2.词义猜测题。根据“With any relationship, you need to let other person know how you are feeling. If you are not able to communicate, you drift apart. When you are mad at your parents, or anyone else, not talking to them doesn’t solve any problems.”可知,如果你不与其他人交流,别人就无法知道你的感受,生气时不说话不解决问题,可知会越来越有疏远彼此,因此推断drift apart意为“关系疏远”。故选A。 3.细节理解题。根据“Even if you just say ‘Hi’, and see how their day was for five minutes, it is better than nothing.”可知,即使说“嗨”并简短关心他人,也比不说话好。故选B。 4.推理判断题。作者首先提出问题:沟通重要性,接着给出沟通方法:关心他人、双向交流、避免冲突;最后以Sophie为例再次证明沟通的重要性。选项D“告诉我们应该做什么才能保持良好的沟通”符合作者的写作目的。故选D。 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
