One day, a man named Zhang Liang noticed an old man sitting on a bridge. He watched as the old man threw one of his shoes away.
“Hey you! Go to get my shoe! And put it on my foot!” the old man shouted at Zhang Liang.

James is a good student and he has lots of friends, but he also has a problem. Some older boys are bullying (欺负) him at school. James is very unhappy and he doesn’t know what to do about it. Here are some suggestions to him and other teenagers in this situation.
Don’t feel worried. It’s not your fault (过错)! Being bullied can make you feel very lonely and angry, but you are not alone. Don’t feel that you have to hide the problem. You should find a person you can trust, and tell them. It might be your teacher, your parents, or even your friend’s parents. After you tell someone, you will get some support and feel some relief (解脱). Speaking to an adult might make you nervous, but here are other things you can do. Some people express their feelings more easily on paper. Write a letter to someone or keep a diary. Include all the details (细节) about what the bullies do, as well as when and where the bullying happens. You can use it as proof to show what is going on. And it is a wonderful idea to show your letter or diary to a teacher or another responsible adult. Then the bullies will feel very afraid if their names appear in a letter!

In May, 2023, Joy Kochar and 10 other students got together in Columbus Park, New York City. They set up a table with lemonade, cookies, and origami figures for sale. They were hoping to raise money for their school to solve a big problem: many spotted lanternflies (斑点灯笼蝇) had recently appeared in the area.
They wanted to raise $200. That was the cost of the tools the kids needed to catch spotted lanternflies. They only made about $75. So they decided to hold more activities to collect money.
Since 2014, spotted lanternflies have been seen across the eastern United States. They are harmful (有害的) to many plants. State officials have encouraged people to kill spotted lanternflies.
Joy saw many spotted lanternflies in her school courtyard. She decided to do something so she started a club called Squash. Its goal is to kill spotted lanternflies around the school. More than 20 students have joined.
Joy did some research and found a plant named milkweed. It is good food for some insects (昆虫) but it is toxic to spotted lanternflies. Joy thought using milkweed would be a better way to kill spotted lanternflies.
Finally, their effort (努力) paid off. They raised $197 in all. That was enough to buy milkweed.

James is a good student and he has lots of friends, but he also has a problem. Some older boys are bullying (欺负) him at school. James is very unhappy and he doesn’t know what to do about it. Here are some suggestions to him and other teenagers in this situation.

In May, 2023, Joy Kochar and 10 other students got together in Columbus Park, New York City. They set up a table with lemonade, cookies, and origami figures for sale.
