These days, we easily feel stressed as the work we need to do grows more and more. It’s important to know how to solve problems and find ways to relax.
First, we should try organizing our problems from most important to least important as well as most urgent (紧急的) to least urgent. If some problems are both important and urgent, such as studying for a next-day test, do those things first. As soon as those are done, work on things that are important but not urgent, such as preparing for the final exams. After that, we can work on problems that are less important. Organizing our work this way helps a lot in knowing what to do first and not worrying about the rest, or we might easily feel overwhelmed with so much work to do.
Sometimes we are still under pressure even after sorting out (分类) our work. That’s OK. We can try to add some exercise to our weekly schedule. It doesn’t need to be a big trip to the gym, although that surely helps. It could be something as small as walking around the neighborhood for 10 to 20 minutes.
Finally, we can try meditation (冥想). Again, it can be a simple thing. Just set 10 to 20 minutes with an alarm, sit straight, close our eyes, and focus only on breathing. If other thoughts come up, accept that they are there and let them fly away on their own. By trying these steps, we will feel relaxed and peaceful when finishing all of the work.
39 What kind of work should we do first?
A. Both important and urgent. B. Urgent but not important.
C. Less important. D. Important but not urgent.
40. What does the underlined word “overwhelmed” mean?
A. 激动的 B. 难以承受的 C. 无聊的 D. 有趣的
41. What is the passage mainly about?
A. How to sort out the work. B. How to deal with stress.
C. How to do exercise. D. How to meditate.

Are you troubled by housework, such as cleaning tables or tidying your room? A new robot is here to help! Now, the robot Mobile Aloha made by scientists at Stanford University in the US becomes popular online.
In the videos, we can see the robot preparing dishes by itself, from cutting vegetables to cracking (打破) eggs. It’s also good at watering plants, petting cats, cleaning the floor and washing clothes.
Sounds good? Well, another video may let some people down—Mobile Aloha isn’t good at doing housework on its own.
Instead, it learns from human actions before doing each kind of housework. When the situation changes, it can’t work well without a human “teaching” it. So it may break dishes, bump into (撞上) things and even burn a pot.
“The robot can successfully move chairs 80 percent of the time.” said the team after they did more studies on it. “For cooking dishes, it’s only 40 percent. In short, it’s far from perfect.”
In fact, AI robots are good at tasks such as math and playing chess, but they will be in trouble when it comes to simpler actions like cleaning. And it’s the same for Mobile Aloha. For example, if its body doesn’t move correctly, even just with a small deviation (偏差), its arm may move too far to pick up a glass.
“Robots are not ready to take over the world,” the team said.
42. Where was the robot Mobile Aloha made?
A. In China. B. In the UK. C. In Russia. D. In the USA.
43. What do we know about the robot Mobile Aloha?
A. It is good at doing homework.
B. It can water the flowers.
C. It hardly learns from human actions before doing housework.
D. It can work well without human teaching it.
44. Which is TRUE according to the passage?
A. The robot can always successfully move chairs.
B. Robots are prepared to take over the world.
C. AI robots is better at playing chess than cleaning.
D. AI robots are good at simple actions like cleaning.
45. In which part of a newspaper can we read this passage?
A. Technology. B. Travel. C. Food. D. Education.
D
A long time ago, there lived a very old man. He was so old that he could not see or hear very well. He also could not walk very well, or eat very well because his hand shook. The old man’s son and daughter-in-law thought he might make trouble at table. So, they had him eat his meals in the corner of the kitchen without a table.
They gave him very little to eat. The old man would have a sad look on his face as he looked at his son and daughter-in-law’s dinner table. One day the old man’s hand shook so terribly that he fell off his dish on the floor. The daughter-in-law became angry and shouted at the old man. And after that, his meals were served in a broken dish.
Before long, the family was sitting having their dinner while the four-year-old grandson was sitting on the floor carefully checking pieces of wood. The father asked, “What are you doing?” “I am making a small bowl,” the boy said.
“Why are you making it?”
“I can fill it with your and Mother’s food when I grow up,” the boy answered.
The old man’s son and daughter-in-law looked at one another without saying a word and started crying. The two quickly brought their old father to their dinner table. From that day on, the old man sat with the family when they had their meals. Even when the old man’s food fell here and there, the son and the daughter-in-law did not say anything.
46. The son and his wife had their father eat in the kitchen to ________.
A. stay away from trouble B. teach their son a good lesson
C. punish him for his shaking hand D. help him get food easily
47. Why did the old man drop the dish?
A. Because he wanted to ask for a new one. B. Because he was angry to eat in the kitchen.
C. Because he wanted to draw his son’s attention. D. Because he couldn’t control his hands well.
48. What can we infer (推断) from the end of the story?
A. The old man will continue to eat in the kitchen.
B The old man will live a better life in the family.
C. The old man will stop shaking his hands while eating.
D. The old man will continue to live a hard life in the family.
49. What does the writer want to tell us with the story?
A. It’s wrong to let parents eat in the kitchen.
B. Family members should have meals together.
C. Parents should set a good example for children.
D. It’s wrong to serve meals in broken dishes.

If people around you have had a fever recently, it may not be COVID-19. Many places in China reach the top record for seasonal flu. Influenza A (甲流) is spreading fast across the country.
Symptoms (症状) of influenza A:
Cough
Fever above 38℃
Headache
Sore throat
“During the past three years, people did things to prevent COVID-19 from spreading, which also stopped the spreading of flu. Thus, people’s immunity (免疫力) to the flu went down. Besides, the flu and COVID-19 are different viruses, so getting COVID-19 does not protect you from getting the flu,” said Wu Zunyou from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. People who have Influenza A often feel some or all of these symptoms like cough, fever above 38℃, headache or sore throat. The virus (病毒) usually spreads through coughs or sneezes(喷嚏) and it goes into the air. If someone nearby breathes it in, they could get sick.
In schools, flu viruses spread quickly in areas like libraries, classrooms, restrooms, and through social activities. According to experts’ advice, if you catch Influenza A, go back to school 48 hours after the symptoms go away, so that you can stop the flu from spreading to your classmates and teachers. Most of you don’t need to take medicine. You should stay at home and have a good rest. The symptoms can go away after 3 to 7 days. But if the fever doesn’t go down after three days, go see a doctor.
50. Which of the following is TRUE about Wu Zunyou’s opinions?
A. The flu andCOVID-19 are the same virus.
B. People’s immunity to the flu dropped during the past three years.
C. Getting COVID-19 can protect you from getting the flu.
D. Preventing COVID-19 can increase people’s immunity (免疫力) to the flu
51. If you catch Influenza A, ________.
A. you are allowed to go back to school anytime.
B. you don’t have to see a doctor if the fever lasts 4 days.
C. you should stay at home and have a good rest.
D. you can just wait the symptoms go away by itself all the time.
52. Who is the passage probably written for?
A. Doctors. B. Parents. C. Tourists. D. Students

One sunny day in the forest, a hungry fox was looking for food. He saw a rabbit on some grass. The fox thought, “This rabbit will make a delicious meal.” So he thought up to catch and eat the rabbit.
He ran up to the rabbit and said, “Dear Rabbit, there’s a magical carrot field on the other side of the forest. We can go together and have a big meal!” The rabbit was doubt but decided to play along.
When they reached a narrow bridge over a deep river, the rabbit had an idea. He said, “Mr. Fox, you’re so much stronger. You should lead the way.” The fox, full of joy, walked onto the bridge first.
Just then, the rabbit jumped up and down, making the bridge shake. The fox cried for help. The rabbit said, “Remember: Honesty is the top principle (准则).” Then he helped the fox get back safely, teaching him a lesson.

Dear Alice,
I’m sorry to know that you feel unhappy these days.
I don’t really agree with having lots of after-school classes on weekends. We need time to relax and think for ourselves. If you don’t want to have after-school classes, I advise you to communicate with your parents. You’d better talk about your feelings with them.
I’m sorry to hear that you are often ill. I think you should develop some good eating habits. Eat more vegetables and fruit and you shouldn’t eat junk food. Doing exercise is important for health, too.
I hope you will solve your problem soon.
Yours,
Lily
