Hi! I’m the Beijing-Zhangjiakou railway. I’ve felt happy recently because a new high-speed railway now links (连接) the two cities. Do you want to know my story?
I was born in 1909. The one who made me was Zhan Tianyou. He was a brave and smart man. He believed China should build its own railways without other countries’ help. So he built me, China’s first self-built railway. This was an important success at the time, as it showed China’s ability in engineering and technology.
At first, my trains used steam (蒸汽). They were very slow. Their top speed was only 35 km/h. Then, the trains started to use diesel (柴油). Later, there were even better trains which used electricity (电). But it still took more than three hours to travel from Beijing to Zhangjiakou. The journey was long and tiring for passengers.

How to Keep Healthy
In 2025, our country started a three-year weight management plan, calling on everyone to pay attention to health. Health is very important in our lives. We can do exercise to keep healthy. It can make our bodies strong and keep us active. And it can also help us stay away from illness.
However, many students have some bad eating habits and they don’t exercise often. To solve these problems, here are my suggestions. First, eating healthy food is necessary. We should eat more fruit and vegetables instead of junk food. Second, getting enough sleep is also important. It can give us energy for the next day.
