The keys to getting the most out of it are to keep portions (份额) small and avoid those with added sugars. And choose the fruits that offer the biggest benefits, like the three here. 1. Apricots PORTION SIZE 5 apricots CALORIES 95 These orange orbs supply vitamin E, which helps to protect cells against the kind of damage that can trigger cancer and other chronic diseases. You also get 3 grams of fiber and 10 percent of the Daily Value. 2. Figs PORTION SIZE 5 figs CALORIES 105 Figs have more fiber than many other dried fruits, and they supply a decent amount of calcium. They may sometimes look like they’ re sprinkled with sugar, but they’ re not. The natural fruit sugar in the figs can crystallize and leave a white coating. 3. Prunes PORTION SIZE 4 prunes CALORIES 92 Research suggests the mix of antioxidants and other nutrients in prunes may help build up bones, helping to prevent osteoporosis. One serving of prunes has about 20 percent of the Daily Value for vitamin K. The low intakes have been linked to painful blood vessel (血管) problems. 21. How many calories will you get if you have a portion of apricots and figs? A. 116. B. 118. C. 124. D. 200. 22. What is a benefit of prunes? A. Relieve pain. B. Improve bone strength. C. Prevent cancer. D. Promote calcium absorption. 23. What advice is offered on dried fruit? A. Take small servings. B. Add some sugar. C. Mix with other nutrients. D. Stay away from it. B I often wake up to my alarm after a short night and step out of bed to a day I’ve fought through countless times. I rush my morning routine and run to my car. My radio switches to my favorite song, but I have to listen to an audible (可听的) book for an assignment due tomorrow. When I get to school, I start with Spanish, my hardest class. Despite being around all year, I have no clue what’s going on. I then walk to my English class, in which I was stuck in the language rules. The assignments take much energy that my perfectionist nature is unable to take on in school, so I save them for later, most probably ate at night. This is my reality as a student with dyslexia, a learning disorder in reading and spelling: assignments that take three times as long as they’re meant to, late nights and early mornings to even slightly keep up with my classes. I was told that Advanced Placement U. S. History would be my hardest class. But here, I am in my element. Despite being three assignments behind, I’m actively engaged. Yes, my passion for history heightens my focus, but my teacher’s willingness to work with me is what allows me to fly high. Teachers need to offer alternative structures that make learning more accessible. I’ve had teachers who teach lecture-based classes where students are expected to take notes and listen. As a student with dyslexia, this doesn’t work. A fix for that is as simple as providing alternative resources: a slide show students can go back to after class, or perhaps even an activity that further plays with the concepts. Now, many schools are shifting to approaches that meet the needs of all kids. However, advocacy work can still be done to support students with dyslexia. If school systems are willing to provide support and education by creating an accessible class structure from the start, students won’t be stuck into academic tracks that don’t push them to their full potential. 24. Why does the author have to do his homework late at night? A. He needs time to do it well enough. B. He fails to manage his spare time. C. He is assigned extra homework. D. He dislikes tasks related to languages. 25. What does the underlined part “in my element” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Burning the midnight oil. B. Peeling like a fish in water. C. Biting off more than I can chew. D. Having butterflies in my stomach. 26. What does the author think of lecture-based class? A. Satisfying. B. Inspiring. C. Demanding. D. Rewarding. 27. What does the author advise schools to do for students? A. Get teachers trained in special education. B. Ask educational experts to give lectures. C. Advocate out-of-class activities. D. Offer classes with alternatives. C A recent report from the business advisor McKinsey & Company found that 58 percent of people worked from home at least one day a week in 2022. The office needs to change because the role of the workplace has changed. The office has suddenly become a choice. It’s really an option. And the office has to be better for someone than working from home. One change office spaces need is more focus on community in the workplace. When you get to the office, if you’re not connecting with anyone else, you might as well not be there. The office should be a place where you’re doing group work. The office of the future might even help workers with their personal responsibilities. One of the reasons why a lot of people work from home is that they have to take care of the dog or pick up the kids. And so, what if there were animal care in the building? What if there were child care in the building? Experts believe companies that own the office space should be more active in changing workplaces for the new way of life. The US General Services Administration (GSA) is the government agency that has been a leading force in establishing what the office of the future will look like. GSA’s Workplace Innovation Lab occupies a 25,000-square-foot space inside the organization’s headquarters in Washington, D. C. The Workplace Innovation Lab will be open for one year. Workers can try out the latest in workplace furniture and technology and then make comments on their experience. Some spaces in the lab look like traditional workplaces. Some spaces feel pleasant. Almost everything can be moved around. The air quality is controlled, and technology that is believed to be good for the environment is being tested. The office of the future needs three qualities. It should he well-designed, serve a purpose and feel pleasant. All of this might mean that the office of the future could feel a little bit more like home. 28. What should people do in the workplace according to the text? A. Work heart and soul. B. Deal with group work only. C. Communicate with others. D. Try improving working performance. 29. Which of the following is a probable benefit of future offices? A. Providing child care services. B. Containing larger workspaces. C. Allowing flexible schedules. D. Offering traditional furniture. 30. What’s the purpose of the Workplace Innovation Lab? A. To conduct research on the most comfortable office chairs. B. To test and gather opinions on workplace improvements. C. To create a space for employees to relax. D. To show some traditional office designs. 31. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. What Office of the Future Will Be Like B. Why Future Offices Attract Young People C. Who Will Work from Home in the Future D. How Will People Work in the Future Office D The Mars explorer, Curiosity, recently arrived at an area called the Gediz Vallis Channel. Researchers said the area was chosen because evidence suggested that it once held large amounts of liquid water. The term “channel” describes a natural bed that carries water. Curiosity arrived on Mars in 2012 and began exploring areas around the planet’s huge Gale Hole. Mars is a cold, dry desert today. But the Gale Hole area is believed to have contained a lake once and has shown other evidence of flowing water in the past. A large shooting star strike about 3.7 billion years ago is believed to have formed the hole. At the time, scientists believe groundwater filled Gale Hole while additional water flowed in from rivers fed by rain or snow. This is thought to have formed Gale Hole’s large lake. Curiosity will be searching for evidence of ancient water in areas around Gediz Vallis Channel, with studies centered on how the channel formed. Scientists say they do not think wind formed it because the sides of it are too high. From space, the channel looks like an ancient riverbed. Later, the channel was filled with large rocks and other forms of remains. Curiosity’s new exploring activities can provide scientists with a new way to study how the presence of both water and the chemical materials required for life changed over time. The first formations to be examined contain sulfates, which are salty minerals often deposited when liquid water changes into gas and goes into the atmosphere. Movements of water and minerals can also produce a material called sediment (沉积物), materials that settle on the bottom of bodies of water over time. Examinations of these sediments can provide additional evidence of past water and possible life. Materials collected by Curiosity are expected to be returned to Earth in the near future. 32. What can he learned about the Gediz Vallis Channel? A. It was an area suitable to live in. B. It is easy for Curiosity to reach. C. It might hold water at one time. D. It was the source of all liquid water on Mars. 33. How was Gale Hole formed probably? A. By serious landslides. B. By a huge volcano eruption. C. By strong geological movements. D. By the knock of a space object. 34. Which has the closest meaning lo the underlined word “deposited” in paragraph 5? A. Worn away. B. Left behind. C. Broken up. D. Dug out. 35. What does the author intend to tell us about in the last paragraph! A. Another sign that water once existed. B. The importance of doing further research. C. Another region on Mars to explore. D. Plans for Mars exploration in the future. Online marketing means advertising and marketing using the Internet to drive sales of a product or service. ____36____. Students from seven different primary schools in and around the small town were warming up and walking the route(路线)through thick evergreen forest. I looked around and finally spotted David, who was standing by himself off to the side by a fence. He was small for ten years old. His usual big toothy smile was absent today. I walked over and asked him why he wasn’t with the other children. He hesitated and then said he had decided not to run. What was wrong? He had worked so hard for this event! I quickly searched the crowd for the school’s coach and asked him what had happened. “I was afraid that kids from other schools would laugh at him,” he explained uncomfortably. “I gave him the choice to run or not, and let him decide.” I bit back my frustration(懊恼). I knew the coach meant well—he thought he was doing the right thing. After making sure that David could run if he wanted, I turned to find him coming towards me, his small body rocking from side to side as he swung his feet forward. David had a brain disease which prevented him from walking or running like other children, but at school his classmates thought of him as a regular kid. He always participated to the best of his ability in whatever they were doing. That was why none of the children thought it unusual that David had decided to join the cross-country team. It just took him longer—that’s all. David had not missed a single practice, and although he always finished his run long after the other children, he did always finish. As a special education teacher at the school, I was familiar with the challenges David faced and was proud of his strong determination. The flooding washed a stream of mud into mckoy. Many people were sleeping when the disaster came. People said IT was moving so fast, thought they had to run for their lives. Colombia officials say more than two hundred people were killed, hundreds more injured, and more than one hundred people still missing, but colombia's president expects those numbers to increase as rescuers search for survivors. More than one thousand soldiers and police officers were involved in that effort. They say that eighty percent of the roads around the area have problems, so it's hard to get to people who might be trapped. Rescuers are racing against the clock to save lives. What’s the weather like now? D 22. B 23. Prunes中“Research suggests the mix of antioxidants and other nutrients in prunes may help build up bones, helping to prevent osteoporosis.(研究表明,梅干中的抗氧化剂和其他营养成分的混合可能有助于增强骨骼,有助于预防骨质疏松症。)” 根据第一段中“Let’s get the bad news out of the way first: Dried fruit is a concentrated source of calories and sugars. The keys to getting the most out of it are to keep portions (份额) small and avoid those with added sugars.(让我们先来看看坏消息:干果是热量和糖的集中来源。最大限度地利用它的关键是保持分量小,避免那些添加糖的。)”可知,干果应该少量食用。故选A项。 B I often wake up to my alarm after a short night and step out of bed to a day I’ve fought through countless times. A 25. B 26. C 27. 根据第二段中“The assignments take much energy that my perfectionist nature is unable to take on in school, so I save them for later, most probably ate at night. (这些作业需要耗费大量精力,以我追求完美的性格在学校里无法完成,所以我把它们留到以后,很可能是晚上做)”可知,作者要在晚上做作业是因为他需要时间把作业做得足够好。故选A项。 根据第四段中“I was told that Advanced Placement U. S. History would be my hardest class. But here, I am in my element.(我被告知美国历史大学先修课程将是我最难的一门课。但在这里,我……)”可知,前文说美国历史大学先修课程是最难的一门学科,根据“But”可知,前后文是转折关系,说明这门课对作者来说并不难,结合选项,“Peeling like a fish in water”意思是如鱼得水,符合语境。Burning the midnight oil. Biting off more than I can chew. Having butterflies in my stomach意为“心里七上八下的”。 根据第五段中“I’ve had teachers who teach lecture-based classes where students are expected to take notes and listen. As a student with dyslexia, this doesn’t work. (我曾遇到过一些老师,他们教的是以讲座为基础的课程,学生们被要求做笔记和听讲。作为一个患有阅读障碍症的学生,这种方式行不通)”可知,作为一个患有阅读障碍症的学生,作者认为以讲座为主的课堂对自己来说不合适,要求高的,有一定难度。C项“Demanding”意为“要求高的、费力的”,符合作者对讲座式课堂的看法。故选C项。 【27题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段中“Teachers need to offer alternative structures that make learning more accessible. (教师需要提供多样化的教学形式,让学习变得更易于接受)”和最后一段中“If school systems are willing to provide support and education by creating an accessible class structure from the start, students won’t be stuck into academic tracks that don’t push them to their full potential. (如果教育系统愿意从一开始就建立无障碍的课堂形式,为学生提供支持与引导,那么学生就不会被困在那些无法充分激发他们潜能的学术轨道上)”可知,作者建议学校为学生提供有替代方案的课程。故选D项。 C A recent report from the business advisor McKinsey & Company found that 58 percent of people worked from home at least one day a week in 2022. How Will People Work in the Future Office 【答案】28. C 29. A 30. B 31. 根据第二段中“When you get to the office, if you’re not connecting with anyone else, you might as well not be there. The office should be a place where you’re doing group work. (当你到达办公室时,如果不与其他人交流,那你还不如不在那里。办公室应该是一个你进行团队工作的地方。)”可知,在办公室要与他人交流、进行团队合作,也就是要和别人沟通交流,故选C项。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“And so, what if there were animal care in the building? What if there were child care in the building? (那么,如果大楼里有动物护理服务呢?如果大楼里有儿童护理服务呢?)”可知,未来的办公室可能会提供儿童看护服务。故选A项。 根据第六段“The Workplace Innovation Lab will be open for one year. Workers can try out the latest in workplace furniture and technology and then make comments on their experience. (工作场所创新实验室将开放一年。员工可以试用最新的办公家具和技术,然后对他们的体验发表评论。)”可知,这个实验室的目的是测试工作场所的改进并收集意见。故选B项。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段中“The office needs to change because the role of the workplace has changed. (办公室需要改变,因为工作场所的角色已经改变。)”、第二段中“One change office spaces need is more focus on community in the workplace. (办公空间需要的一个变化是更加注重工作场所的社区。)”、第三段中“The office of the future might even help workers with their personal responsibilities. (未来的办公室甚至可能帮助员工承担个人责任。)”、第六段“The Workplace Innovation Lab will be open for one year. All of this might mean that the office of the future could feel a little bit more like home.(未来的办公室需要三个品质。它应该设计良好、有目的且令人愉悦。所有这些可能意味着未来的办公室可能会感觉更像家。)”可知,文章主要围绕未来办公室的变化和可能的样子展开,如更加注重社区、可能提供儿童看护服务、有创新实验室测试并改进工作场所等,A项“What Office of the Future Will Be Like (未来的办公室会是什么样子)”最能概括全文,故选A项。 D The Mars explorer, Curiosity, recently arrived at an area called the Gediz Vallis Channel. C 33. D 34. B 35. 由文章第一段“Researchers said the area was chosen because evidence suggested that it once held large amounts of liquid water. (研究人员表示,之所以选择该地区,是因为有证据表明它曾经拥有大量的液态水。)”可知,Gediz Vallis Channel曾经可能拥有液态水。故选C项。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。由文章第三段“A large shooting star strike about 3.7 billion years ago is believed to have formed the hole. (据信,大约37亿年前的一次大流星撞击形成了这个洞。)”可知,Gale Hole可能是由太空物体的撞击形成的。故选D项。 【34题详解】 词句猜测题。由文章第五段“The first formations to be examined contain sulfates, which are salty minerals often deposited when liquid water changes into gas and goes into the atmosphere.(首先要检查的地层含有硫酸盐,这是一种含盐矿物,通常是在液态水变成气体并进入大气时而 。)” 与B项Left behind(留下)意思一致。 由文章最后一段“Movements of water and minerals can also produce a material called sediment (沉积物), materials that settle on the bottom of bodies of water over time. Examinations of these sediments can provide additional evidence of past water and possible life. Materials collected by Curiosity are expected to be returned to Earth in the near future.(水和矿物质的运动也会产生一种叫做沉积物的物质,这种物质会随着时间的推移沉积在水体底部。对这些沉积物的检查可以为过去的水和可能的生命提供额外的证据。好奇号收集的材料预计将在不久的将来返回地球。)”可知,本段主要讲通过检查沉积物也可证明水时候曾经存在于火星。即对火星是否存在水的另一迹象是通过检查沉积物而得知。故选A项。 Online marketing means advertising and marketing using the Internet to drive sales of a product or service. ____36____. (who引导的定语从句) [高分句型2]When I come across the problems of learning in my study, my father will listen to me patiently and encourage me to overcome the difficulties bravely. It was the day of the big cross-country run. We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn’t look at me. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn’t look at me. I said gently and quietly, “No one can change your mind, except yourself. If you desire to challenge yourself, there is nothing to do with others’ thoughts.” He sat still with a deep breath. “You have a full preparation before this event, which is the most important reason why you show up here”, I added with a sincere tone. Hearing my words, David turned to me tremblingly with tears spilling out of his eyes and expressed he had made a firm determination to finish the cross-country run. His coach heard what David said and gave me a look—the kind that was more determined than anyone else’s. I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. The race started. It seemed that the runway was extremely long for young children, not to mention a child with a brain disease. David insisted on running as if he had forgotten all his weaknesses, though he was tripped over within the a few kilometers. It didn’t take long before he picked himself up again and continued his mission. Classmates all appeared on the racing track, cheering for him. “Come on! You can make it! We are proud of you!” they shouted enthusiastically. To everyone’s joy, he reached the final line and ranked the 20th. It was no more important whether he won the first place or not. It was his brave heart and strong faith that could make something unusual happen finally. 词汇激活: 行动类: ①深呼吸:with a deep breath/breathe deeply ②坚持做:insisted on doing/be stick to doing 情绪类: ①热情:enthusiastically /with great passion ②骄傲:be proud of/take pride in 【点睛】[高分句型1]You have a full preparation before this event, which is the most important reason why you show up here. (由which引导的非限制性定语从句和why引导的限制性定语从句) [高分句型2]Hearing my words, David turned to me tremblingly with tears spilling out of his eyes and expressed he had made a firm determination to finish the cross-country run. (现在分词作状语和省略that的宾语从句) [高分句型3]It was his brave heart and strong faith that could make something unusual happen finally.
