This is the 10th year of his volunteer teaching career in the countryside. Located deep in the mountains, the village was struck by poverty. Despite all challenges, Yuan believes that it was a precious experience growing up among his students. “I did not come here on a whim. I love teaching from the bottom of my heart, ” says Yuan, who teaches a variety of courses, including history, geography and music, in different primary and middle schools in Enshi. “Since I was a high school student, I’ve dreamed of being a volunteer teacher. Different from the traditional teaching style, I feel there is another way, and I hope to have the opportunity to put my ideas into practice, ” he says, adding that his teaching may have a greater impact on students living in mountain villages with limited education resources. “Spreading joy and knowledge among others makes me feel satisfied. Living in the woods, I seemed to have reached a deep understanding with nature, and discovered the truth of life, ” he says. When Yuan first started teaching, he visited every student’s family on weekends. “Most of them were left-behind children, and some were from single-parent families, ” says Yuan. He decided to help the children with their studies by developing good habits. “In such cases, it’s important to help them build up their confidence, ” says Yuan. To achieve that goal, Yuan designed a lot of activity-based courses, encouraging children to express themselves more confidently. Yuan’s unique teaching methods became more popular in the county, and other schools invited him to deliver lectures. “I think I’m living a happy life, ” he said in one of his lectures. Over the past years, Yuan has won many national honors. “I think they are a result of my devotion. Only through devotion can one possess inner peace and joy, ” he says. 4. 根据划线单词后文“I love teaching from the bottom of my heart (我从心底热爱教学)”可知,他不是一时兴起来到这里的。由此可猜测,“on a whim”意思是“一时兴起,心血来潮”,与C选项“Due to a sudden wish”(由于一个突然的愿望)意思相近。 根据第三段中““Spreading joy and knowledge among others makes me feel satisfied. Living in the woods, I seemed to have reached a deep understanding with nature, and discovered the truth of life, ” he says. (“向他人传播快乐和知识让我感到满足。住在树林里,我似乎对自然有了深刻的理解,发现了生命的真谛。”他说。)”可知,在村里做志愿者给袁辉带来了精神上的满足。故选B项。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“To achieve that goal, Yuan designed a lot of activity-based courses, encouraging children to express themselves more confidently. (今年是他在农村支教的第10个年头。)”以及倒数第二段中“To achieve that goal, Yuan designed a lot of activity-based courses, encouraging children to express themselves more confidently. Yuan’s unique teaching methods became more popular in the county, and other schools invited him to deliver lectures. (为了实现这个目标,袁设计了很多以活动为基础的课程,鼓励孩子们更自信地表达自己。袁独特的教学方法在县里越来越受欢迎,其他学校也邀请他去讲课。)”可知,袁辉在乡村支教10 年,并且设计独特的教学方法帮助学生,体现了他的奉献精神(Devoted)和创造力(creative)。故选A项。 C This morning, while tidying up my office, I found an open box of packaged chocolate cookies that I’d bought sometime last year. The use-by date had come and gone more than eight months ago. Curious, I took a small bite. They still tasted pretty good. Welcome to the world of ultra-processed (超加工) foods. And we’re eating a lot of them. Ultra-processed foods currently make up nearly 60% of what the typical adult eats, and nearly 70% of what kids eat. They include everything from cookies and sodas to packaged breads and frozen meals, even ice creams. You might not realize you’re eating one, but look close and you’ll see many ingredients you wouldn’t find in your kitchen. And a large and growing amount of evidence has consistently linked overconsumption of ultra-processed foods to poor health outcomes. “Too much of it leads to obesity and type two diabetes (糖尿病) and heart disease and cancer.” says Christopher Gardner, a professor at Stanford University, who has spent decades studying the links between diet and chronic disease (慢性病). One reason ultra-processed foods likely lead to health issues seems obvious: They tend to be low in fiber and high in calories, salt, added sugar and fat, which are all linked with poor health outcomes when eaten too much. Eventually, Gardner says the burden of making healthier food choices shouldn’t fall completely on consumers-especially when it comes to setting kids up for better health long term. “It does need the whole society to pay attention to this, to work together, including the food industry and the government, to be able to reduce the amount of ultra-processed food our kids are consuming in their day,” he says. 8. What does the author want to say in the second paragraphs? A. Ultra-processed foods preserve the flavor long. B. Ultra-processed foods have become a big part of our diet. C. Convenience explains the popularity of ultra-processed foods. D. A lot of health problems result from consumption of ultra-processed foods. 9. What does the underlined word “overconsumption” in Paragraph 3 probably mean? A. Overproduction. B. Overselling. C. Overstore. D. Overeating. 10. What is a result of too much ultra-processed food in people’s lives? A. Fewer diseases. B. Health problems. C. Dietary changes. D. Market competition. 11. What is Gardner’s suggestion for making kids healthier in the long term? A. Punish the food industry. B. Reduce kids’ consumption. C. Unite efforts from all sides. D. Make smarter food choices. B 9. D 10. B 11. 根据第二段中的“Ultra-processed foods currently make up nearly 60% of what the typical adult eats, and nearly 70% of what kids eat. They include everything from cookies and sodas to packaged breads and frozen meals, even ice creams.(目前,超加工食品占成年人饮食总量的近60%,占儿童饮食总量的近70%。它们包括从饼干和苏打水到包装面包和冷冻食品,甚至冰淇淋的所有东西)”可知,在日常饮食中,超加工的食品占据了相当大的比例。由此推知,超加工食品已经成为我们生活中重要的一部分。故选B项。 【9题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线单词后的““Too much of it leads to obesity and type two diabetes(糖尿病) and heart disease and cancer.” says Christopher Gardner, a professor at Stanford University, who has spent decades studying the links between diet and chronic disease (慢性病).(“吃得太多会导致肥胖、二型糖尿病、心脏病和癌症。斯坦福大学教授克里斯托弗·加德纳说。他花了几十年时间研究饮食和慢性病之间的联系)”可知,研究发现,过度使用超级工食品会造成身体健康问题,饮食与慢性疾病之间存在着联系。由此推知,划线单词的意思应是“过多地食用”。故选D项。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中的““Too much of it leads to obesity and type two diabetes (糖尿病) and heart disease and cancer.” says Christopher Gardner, a professor at Stanford University, who has spent decades studying the links between diet and chronic disease (慢性病).(“吃得太多会导致肥胖、二型糖尿病、心脏病和癌症。斯坦福大学教授克里斯托弗·加德纳说。他花了几十年时间研究饮食和慢性病之间的联系)”可知,研究发现,过多使用超加工食品会造成健康问题。由此可知,健康问题是过多使用超加工食品的结果。故选B项。 【11题详解】 细节理解题。根据尾段中的““It does need the whole society to pay attention to this, to work together, including the food industry and the government, to be able to reduce the amount of ultra-processed food our kids are consuming in their day,” he says.( “这确实需要整个社会都关注这一点,共同努力,包括食品行业和政府,以减少我们的孩子们每天消费的超加工食品的数量,”他说)”可知,Gardner认为,要从长远看来,要解决孩子的健康问题,需要的是整个社会引起重视,齐心协力。由此可知,Gardner的建议是团结社会的各方力量。故选C项。 D Hundreds of millions of birds die every year from crashing into windows, one of the biggest sources of human-caused bird deaths — far greater than wind turbines (涡轮) and airplane strikes put together. In an attempt to help birds see the windows before it’s too late, people may stick decals (贴纸) or coloured films on their windows — often on the indoor side. But a recent study challenges the effectiveness of this practice. “Putting these window films on the inside really is not giving you the benefit that you would want for protecting the birds,” says John P. Swaddle, lead author of the new study. To test the films’ effectiveness, Swaddle and his colleagues applied one of two commercially available (可获得的) films to either inside or outside window surfaces. One film reflected shorter light wavelengths that humans cannot see, and the other reflected longer wavelengths (many birds can see both). The researchers also fixed super-fine nets in front of the windows to keep birds from actually hitting the glass. Both films helped to prevent bird strikes by more than 35 percent when put on the outside surface, the study found — but films on the inside had no benefit at all. “It’s some groundbreaking work about the differences of what can and can’t work in terms of preventing window strikes from birds,” says George Mason University biologist David Luther. People usually find it much easier to put films or decals on the indoor side of a window, says Natalia Ocampo-Penuela, a conservation ecologist. For taller buildings, to apply something to the outside, “you need scaffolding (脚手架)...you need to clean the windows extra well for them to apply correctly, and they don’t last as long.” Swaddle assumes that films placed on the inside don’t effectively stop the reflection of outside light. This might also be the case with decals, although those were not tested in this study, he says. 12. What’s the main killer for human-caused bird death? A. Wind turbines. B. Air pollution. C. Window strikes. D. Airplane crashes. 13. According to Swaddle’s test, which factor is significant in preventing bird strikes? A Types of films. B. Availability of films. C. Places to put films. D. Wavelengths films reflected. 14. What is David Luther’s attitude towards the study? A. Doubtful. B. Positive. C. Unclear. D. Confused. 15. What’s paragraph 5 mainly about? A. How long the films will last when put correctly. B What is needed to clean the windows completely. C. How people apply films to the outside of buildings. D. Why people choose to place films inside the window. 【答案】12. C 13. C 14. B 15. 根据第一段“Hundreds of millions of birds die every year from crashing into windows, one of the biggest sources of human-caused bird deaths — far greater than wind turbines (涡轮) and airplane strikes put together. 根据第三段中“To test the films’ effectiveness, Swaddle and his colleagues applied one of two commercially available (可获得的) films to either inside or outside window surfaces. One film reflected shorter light wavelengths that humans cannot see, and the other reflected longer wavelengths (many birds can see both). The researchers also fixed super-fine nets in front of the windows to keep birds from actually hitting the glass. 根据第四段“‘It’s some groundbreaking work about the differences of what can and can’t work in terms of preventing window strikes from birds,’ says George Mason University biologist David Luther.(乔治梅森大学的生物学家David Luther说:‘这是一项开创性的工作,研究了在防止鸟类撞击窗户方面,什么能起作用,什么不能起作用。’)”可知,David Luther认为这项研究是一项具有开创性的工作,它研究了防止鸟类撞击窗户方面什么样的措施才是有效的;由此可知,David Luther对这项研究是持肯定态度的。故选B。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第五段“People usually find it much easier to put films or decals on the indoor side of a window, says Natalia Ocampo-Penuela, a conservation ecologist. For taller buildings, to apply something to the outside, ‘you need scaffolding (脚手架)...you need to clean the windows extra well for them to apply correctly, and they don’t last as long.’ D选项“Why people choose to place films inside the window.(为什么人们选择把膜贴在窗户里面。)”能够概括本段主旨。故选D。 第二节(共5小题,每小题2. 5分,满分12. 5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。 More Than Just Food There are a few ways in which Chinese restaurants are different from Western restaurants. Consider how Westerners go about eating at restaurants. Everyone always gets their own menu and orders their own food. ____16____ , it is quite difficult to talk to — or even see — more than a few people during the meal. ____17____ . Usually, everyone sits at large and round tables where it is easy to see and talk with each other, even if it is a rather large group. One person orders the food for everyone , after considering the likes and dislikes of the other people in the group. ____18____ . Everyone then serves themselves by taking a small bit of food and putting it on their own plates. Just as in the West, people can choose what they want to eat. However, while in the West, importance is placed on the individual and having one’s own preferences, in China importance is placed on sharing and community. Instead of seeing themselves as individuals first, and part of the group second, Chinese people generally see themselves as part of the group first and individuals second. ____19____ . Finally, since people are seated at a round table, everyone is treated equally. ____20____ . However, respect is still shown to older people or people of higher status, as they always sit at the far end of the room facing the door. A. China has many different styles of food B. And, since the tables are usually small C. No one is given greater importance over another D. You should make an effort to enjoy Chinese food E. Everyone still gets what they want, but it is a shared experience F. Then, when the food comes, all of it is put in the middle of the table G. However, the traditional Chinese restaurant experience is quite different 【答案】16. B 17. G 18. F 19. E 20. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了中西方饮食文化的差异。 【16题详解】 根据后文“it is quite difficult to talk to or even see more than a few people during the meal”(在用餐期间,很难与几个人交谈,甚至很难见到几个人)可知,在吃饭时见到聊天的人很少,选项B“And, since the tables are usually small”是其原因,因为桌子太小,一起吃饭聊天的人就少了,符合逻辑关系,故答案选B。 【17题详解】 根据后文“Usually, everyone sits at large and round tables where it is easy to see and talk with each other”(通常人们围着大桌子而坐,方便交流),可知,此处与上文“西方人吃饭很少交流”相反,后文则是具体举例说明,选项G“However, the traditional Chinese restaurant experience is quite different”是与西方进行对比,符合转折逻辑关系。故答案选G。 【18题详解】 根据前文“One person orders the food for everyone , after considering the likes and dislikes of the other people in the group.”(一个人了解了大家的喜好之后为大家点餐)可知接下来就是上菜了。所以F选项“Then, when the food comes, all of it is put in the middle of the table(然后,当上菜时,所有的菜都放在桌子中间)”符合题意,故答案选F。 19题详解】 根据上文 “Chinese people generally see themselves as part of the group first and individuals second”(中国人通常认为自己首先是群体的一部分,其次才是个人)可知,中国人通常都是群体第一,个人第二。选项E“Everyone still gets what they want, but it is a shared experience(每个人都能吃到自己想吃的菜,但是这是一个大家共同享用食物的经历)”,符合逻辑,兼顾了集体和个人,故答案选E。 【20题详解】 根据上文“since people are seated at a round table, everyone is treated equally”(因为人们坐在圆桌旁,所以每个人都被平等对待)可知,因为大家坐的是圆桌,每个人都是被平等对待的。选项C“No one is given greater importance over another. ”(没有谁比谁更重要)承接上文,进一步说明这种饮食文化的平等性。故答案选C。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 完形填空(共15小题,每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 “What do you want to be when you grow up?” The question is one that I always had trouble ____21____ as a child. She would sit for hours, lost in art. Trees on her pages seemed to swing in an unseen wind, and the faces she drew wore lifelike expressions. But Amy didn’t look like the art she made. Her clothes were old and had many patches (补丁) that her mother made with care. Amy’s family did not have much money, but they loved each other very much. Her mother worked hard at many jobs to take care of them after Amy’s father got sick and died. Amy had her good times and hard times in school. She loved different corners of the school which were sources of her inspiration and expected the art lesson. Yet other kids’ laughing at her dress made her sad. She wanted to change the situation, but didn’t know how to go about it. Despite this, she would quietly help someone with a hard math problem or pick up garbage on her way home. She always found comfort in her drawing. In the middle of the term, an art contest on the theme of “My Dream” was to be held, which would select the top three winners, and the head teacher would award them prizes. This news thrilled the children, Amy in particular. They enthusiastically registered for the contest and, after thoughtful consideration, finished their own art pieces. The contest organizers gathered all submissions one week later and set up an exhibit showcasing every participant’s work in the school gym. The school gym was filled with viewers as the walls displayed the efforts of the young artists. There were paintings of colorful landscapes where the sun burst through thick clouds. Some students had created portraits (肖像) of their heroes. In this sea of creativity, one painting stood out. In the painting, a community garden was drawn, a place where people from all walks of life were planting seeds together. The heartfelt work drew the viewers into a world where every detail had meaning. The exhibition would last a week and all the students and teachers could vote their favorite work. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Finally came the day when the winners were announced. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The children who had laughed at Amy started to see her in a new way. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Finally came the day when the winners were announced. The head teacher started with the third place winner followed by a boy in the second place. Then the students waited with bated breath for the first place winner to be announced. “First place goes to — Amy!” said the head teacher. After a moment of silence, the crowd clapped. Amy stepped onto the stage to accept the prize, shocked and delighted. When Amy explained her intention of spreading the idea of unity and hope, everyone was moved. After that, things changed. The children who had laughed at Amy started to see her in a new way. They got to know the real Amy — her kindness and her dreams. She wasn’t alone anymore. During breaks, kids crowded around her to see her create pictures, which made her classmates eager to try drawing with their own thoughts, too. Amy’s art became well-known outside of school as well. A local gallery asked to exhibit her best painting. As Amy made more art, she became more confident. Her art changed her life and how others saw art and the world. 3. 词汇激活 行为类 ①宣布:announce/declare ②接受:accept/receive ③展览:exhibit/display 情绪类 ①震惊的:shocked/amazed ②高兴的:delighted/overjoyed 【点睛】[高分句型1]When Amy explained her intention of spreading the idea of unity and hope, everyone was moved. B After a long day at work, Yuan Hui, a volunteer teacher in a village in Enshi, Hubei Province, decided to stay back in the office until late. 4. His dream of being a volunteer teacher started after he finished high school. 6. Why did Yuan design a lot of activity-based courses? A. To make his teaching easy. B. To make himself popular. C. To make his students confident. D. To make his life colorful. 7. Which of the following can best describe Yuan Hui? A. Devoted and creative. B. Energetic and strict. C. Strange and smart. D. Mild and inflexible. C This morning, while tidying up my office, I found an open box of packaged chocolate cookies that I’d bought sometime last year. D Hundreds of millions of birds die every year from crashing into windows, one of the biggest sources of human-caused bird deaths — far greater than wind turbines (涡轮) and airplane strikes put together. People usually find it much easier to put films or decals on the indoor side of a window says Natalia Ocampo-Penuela, a conservation ecologist. C. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
