B When I was a little girl, I remember that when my dad was repairing something, he would ask me to hold the hammer, so we would have time for a conversation with each other. I never saw my dad drinking or taking a night out. All he did after work was taking care of his family. I grew up and left home for college and since then, my dad had been calling me every Sunday morning. And when I bought a house several years later, my dad painted it by himself in the fierce summer heat. All he asked was to talk to him, but I was too busy in those days. Four years ago, my dad visited me. He spent many hours putting together a swing for my daughter. He asked me to have a talk with him, but I had to prepare for a trip that weekend. One Sunday morning we had a telephone talk as usual. I noticed that my dad had forgotten some things that we discussed lately. I was in a hurry, so our conversation was short. Several hours later that day I received a call. My father was in the hospital. Immediately I bought a plane ticket and on my way, I was thinking about all the occasions I missed to have a talk with my dad. By the time I arrived at the hospital, my father had passed away. Now it was he who did not have time for a conversation with me. I realized how little I knew about my dad, his deepest thoughts and his dreams. After his death, I learned much more about him and even more about myself. All he ever wanted was my time. And now he has all my attention every single day. 4. What can we learn about the author’s dad from paragraph 1? A. He was fond of drinking. B. He enjoyed family time. C. He had a night part-time job. D. He was a very silent man. 5. Why did the author’s dad paint her house? A. To ask for small chats. B. To make more money. C. To kill the summer time. D. To help with her education. 6. What is the author’s purpose in mentioning the swing for her daughter? A. To complain about her busy life. B. To explain how to build a swing. C. To show dad’s care for the family. D. To compare her dad’s different jobs. 7. What is the main message conveyed in the text? A. Children should always obey their parents. B. It is important to keep in touch with relatives. C. People should often go back to their hometown. D. Family time is valuable and should be treasured. C Mastering the science and art of performing surgery takes a human years of study and practice. Robots, as it turns out, can learn to do surgical tasks much faster. A new study on Robot Learning introduced the world to a medical robot that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to teach itself to perform surgical tasks as well as a human. The research team from Johns Hopkins University and Stanford University used a da Vinci Surgical System in the study. This is a system designed to perform some surgical tasks while remotely controlled by a human surgeon. The da Vinci robot allows the surgeon to work with much greater control and precision. Using a type of AI training called imitation learning in which an AI model learns a new task by observing and imitating human actions, reported Fast Company, the robot is able to learn the very complex set of actions needed to carry out a surgical task. While training the robot, the researchers consulted with practicing surgeons who evaluated the robot’s performance. In addition, to truly test the robot, they essentially presented it with an unknown scenario (场景) that it had not trained on. It was able to perform the virtual simulation (模拟) with flying colors. This suggests that the robot was able to generalize, rather than just memorize and would be able to manage the unexpected situations that tend to occur in a real-life operating room. “It’s really magical to have this model where all we do is feed it camera input, and it can predict the robotic movements needed for surgery,” Dr. Axel Krieger, senior author of the study, told Fast Company. “We believe this marks a significant step forward toward a new frontier in medical robotics.” Automated medical devices could make high-quality medical procedures and care available in places lacking medical infrastructure. Not every small city employs top-tier surgeons in their hospitals. An automated surgeon could bring all the skills and expertise of a human surgeon to the people who need them. 8. How does the robot actually perform surgery? A. By simplifying complex actions. B. By remotely controlling a human surgeon. C. By being guided by a doctor at its side. D. By learning from human behavior. 9. What does the underlined phrase “with flying colors” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Perfectly. B. Patiently. C. Secretly. D. Formally. 10. How does Dr. Axel Krieger find the model? A. It will be applied to more operations. B. It is innovative. C. It needs to be improved. D. It is cost-effective. 11. What aspect of the robot does the last paragraph mainly talk about? A. Its principle. B. Its target. C. Its significance. D. Its development. D On the streets of Manhattan and Washington, D. C., in neighborhoods in Seoul and parks in Paris, ginkgo (银杏) trees are losing their leaves in reaction to the first gust of cold winter air. This leaf drop, gradual at first, and then sudden, carpets streets with golden, fan-shaped leaves. Scientists are documenting evidence of the event happening later and later, a possible indication of climate change. But the story of ginkgos is not the familiar one of human carelessness with nature. Thanks to fossils found in North Dakota, scientists found a ginkgo has genetically similar ancestors dating back 170 million years to the Jurassic Period. “It almost went extinct. Then humans rescued it and spread it around the world. It’s such a great evolutionary (进化) and cultural story,” says Peter Crane, a ginkgo expert. One theory for the decline of the ginkgo species began 130 million years ago, when flowering plants began spreading. They grew faster and attracted more pollinators (传粉者) than ginkgos. “It’s possible that ginkgos were elbowed out of the way,” says Crane. Already competing to survive, ginkgos began to disappear during a time of global cooling that began around 66 million years ago. By the time the last ice age ended 11,000 years ago, the remaining survivors were found in China. Ginkgo trees are smelly. “My guess is that they were eaten by animals that liked smelly things. They then passed through their body and grew.” Crane says. Those same seeds may have helped ginkgo find favor with humans 1,000 years ago. Once cleaned of their outer layer, ginkgo seeds are safe to eat. It’s then, when the trees had long since disappeared elsewhere, that people in China may have begun planting them and eating their seeds. Then gradually ginkgos spread across the world. Now it’s seemingly naturally resistant to insects and high levels of air pollution. Crane isn’t worried about its future, though: The popularity of the species will help it survive. “Though its status in the wild may be difficult to access, it’s a plant that’s unlikely to ever go extinct,” he says. 12. What may have caused the further delay of ginkgo’s leaf drop? A. The colder weather in winter. B. The protection from city councils. C. The global warming phenomenon. D. The careless interaction with humans. 13. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about? A. The reasons why ginkgos almost died out. B. The advantages of ginkgos over other plants. C. The theories of experts for multiplying ginkgos. D. The competition between various flowering plants. 14. What might have contributed to ginkgos’ survival? A. Their eatable seeds. B. Their unpleasant smell. C. The natural evolution. D. The careful planting. 15. How does Crane feel about ginkgos’ future? A. Worried. B. Optimistic. C. Uncertain. D. Hopeless. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The latest thing in architecture is green buildings—covering walls and roofs with a carpet of plants to prevent heat, absorb rain and provide a home for wildlife. The topic of the contest was recycling, and the winner would receive the honor of having his or her poster displayed all around the school. This was a big event and he couldn’t afford to miss it. And Shawn was sure his was the best in the class-certainly better than Neil’s! Neil and Shawn were in the same class and the two boys competed in everything, and their test scores and grades were just about equal. They almost never spoke to each other, but everyone in the class knew they were competitors. One thing Shawn excelled at, though, was art. His poster, which showed a garbage pile threatening to crush the school, looked really good. The only problem was the slogan, which was a little boring. It read, “Recycle.” Mr. Wu evaluated all the posters carefully and said, “These are all excellent, but there are two entries that really stand out.” Shawn grinned as Mr. Wu held up his poster and the class clapped. But then Mr. Wu held up Neil’s poster, too. The artwork wasn’t great, Shawn saw, but the words written across the top were powerful. They read, “It’s Your Planet-Recycle It!” Even Shawn had to admit it was a good slogan. Mr. Wu announced that the winner should be decided by a public vote. But their competition ended in a tie(平局). It was really a hard decision, for they both did a good job in the designing, each with their own unique strong points. Shawn walked out of the school, with his head and shoulders hanging down. He knew the chance that his poster would be exhibited was dimming. When he looked up, he saw Neil walking alone a few steps ahead, his face stiffening with worry. He cast Shawn a look, but didn’t say a single word. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Then Shawn had an idea. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The exhibition Shawn had been looking forward to finally came. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 石家庄市2024–2025学年度第二学期期末教学质量检测 高二英语 (本试卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟) 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? I never saw my dad drinking or taking a night out. All he did after work was taking care of his family. I grew up and left home for college and since then, my dad had been calling me every Sunday morning. And when I bought a house several years later, my dad painted it by himself in the fierce summer heat. All he asked was to talk to him, but I was too busy in those days. Four years ago my dad visited me. 【答案】4. B 5. A 6. C 7. Using a type of AI training called imitation learning, in which an AI model learns a new task by observing and imitating human actions, reported Fast Company, the robot is able to learn the very complex set of actions needed to carry out a surgical task. 【答案】8. D 9. A 10. B 11. A. Worried. B. Optimistic. C. Uncertain. D. Hopeless. 【答案】12. C 13. A 14. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Then Shawn had an idea. He came up to Neil and put forward his suggestion that if Neil agreed, maybe they could work together, combining his own art and Neil’s words to make a really great poster. Neil smiled at Shawn for the first time all year. “I think that sounds like a winning idea!” Neil said. The exhibition Shawn had been looking forward to finally came. Everybody in their class was curious to know who would gain the entry for the school’s poster contest. After all, both Shawn and Neil had equal shares of honor and power in areas where they were strong and confident. In the expectation of everyone, the jury announced the result of the contest finally. The poster created by the two students Shawn and Neil won the first prize, which was both in and out of all the expectation. What made everyone exclaim was that competitors were also close partners, and the contest strengthened the concept of “Harmony Makes Development and Cooperation makes Common Benefits”. 词汇激活 行为类 提出建议:put forward his suggestion/come up with his suggestion/raise his suggestion ②合作:work together/cooperate ③增强:strengthen/enhance/heighten 情绪类 ①渴望知道:be curious to know/be eager to know ②出乎意料:out of all the expectation/unexpectedly 【点睛】 [高分句型1].
