故选A。
by在旁边;out在外面;at在某地或某时刻;in在里面。根据“the son started flying the kite”可知,儿子手拿风筝开始放,所以,风筝线在手里,in hand“在手里”,“in在里面”符合题意。
根据“if we cut the string, the kite will be free”可知,儿子觉得剪断线后风筝就会自由,从而就会会飞得更高。

根据“it fell onto the grass”可知,最后风筝掉在地上,“Finally最后”符合题意。故选A。
根据“The string is not stopping the kite from flying higher”可知,此处应是风筝自己飞不高,所以,“itself它自己”符合题意。
go away离开;go on继续;go up上升;go down下落。根据“By using the string”可知,通过使用风筝线,能帮助风筝向上飞,所以,“go up上升”符合题意。故选C。

Our school’s science festival just ended a few days ago. What interested me most was the car we made. It was made out of corrugated cardboard (硬纸板), but could still hold a person, as well as move.
We were excited about this idea but we found it hard to make the car. It seemed impossible for a cardboard car to carry someone. Our physics teacher showed us a video. There was some corrugated cardboard shaped like a “V” or “W” in the video. It could hold more weight. This gave us the idea to make the car after getting the proper materials.
Because there was not much time left for us, we had to finish it as quickly as possible. We talked about how the car should be made and how to test it. I was glad that we were able to work closely with each other. Everyone saw the work as an interesting way to relax. When the car was finally finished, we all wore a smile on our face and found that all our work had been worth it, even after spending whole afternoons working on it.
We joined the competition after we finished the car. Though we didn’t win any prizes, we found something more meaningful than success. We learned new things about physics and learned how to get along with each other.

There’s nothing quite like falling sound asleep after a full day of work. Like people, animals need to rest after working hard. Some animals sleep in water. Others dig holes under the ground. Some even sleep high in trees or under leaves. But they all find a way to rest.
Some animals in the sea sleep in strange ways. Fish sleep with their eyes open. They seem to look ahead far into the sea while they rest. Sea otters sometimes sleep in beds of the plants that grow in the sea. This keeps them from moving away. Parrotfish blow something from their mouths when they are ready to sleep. Then a bubble (气泡) will be formed around them. The bubble protects them from harm while they sleep.
Some animals sleep under the ground. Chipmunks (花栗鼠) sleep curled up (蜷缩) in a ball. Their beds are made of leaves and grass. In winter, they sleep for two weeks and wake up to eat the stored food. Then they go back to sleep for another two weeks before waking up again. Some desert frogs dig underground holes during the hot, dry season. A frog may stay in its hole for months.
High above the ground, monkeys find leafy places in trees each evening before they sleep. The tall trees help to keep monkeys safe during the night. Some insects even sleep under the leaf that will be their next meal. A bee may climb down into a flower to rest. When it climbs out the next morning, it is rested and ready for work.
19. What do we know about chipmunks according to the text?
A. They rest with their eyes open. B. They never sleep curled up in a ball.
C. They wake up now and then in winter. D. They don’t eat any food during the winter.
20. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about?
A. The forest where monkeys sleep safely. B. The animals that sleep above the ground.
C. The reason why bees climb down into flowers. D. The ways that keep animals away from danger.
21. What is the structure of the passage? (P-Paragraph)
A. B. C. D.
22. What’s the best title for the text?

C. How animals sleep? D. What animals feed on?

An affirmation is a strong and positive statement (陈述) of something that is said as a fact. Statements you make to yourself, such as, “I’m a good dancer” or “I can’t draw”, are self-affirmations. They matter because you hear your own voice all the time. So if you tell yourself you’re good at something, you’re more likely to have a go.
Affirmations can help you or they can hold you back. Maria Evans, a coach for young people, says everyone has a voice inside their head that tries to protect them from risks. “It can stop us from doing things that feel big but exciting, like trying out for the school play or the basketball team. You don’t try so you never know what you are able to do, making you feel regret,” Instead, using positive self-affirmations builds your confidence. Evans says, “The sooner you can start telling yourself positive things, the more enjoyable your life will be.”
To make your affirmation, think about the positive way you want to be or feel. For example, you may want to be brave or feel you can improve at Math. Now put that in a sentence and say “I am brave” or “I can get better at Math”. Avoid using negative (消极的) words, because if you say “I don’t feel scared” your brain hears the word “scared”. By focusing (聚焦) on the positive, your brain hears what you want to feel. Also, if the affirmation is short and snappy it will be easier to remember.
Grace, 15, shares her self-affirmation, “When I’m feeling down and I have to do something like a test, I know that it’s useful to try and turn that around by saying to myself, ‘I am filled with energy, I can do anything I put my mind to, I am capable.’”
23. Why are self-affirmations important to us according to Paragraph 1?
A. They pass on secret messages. B. They are facts telling the truth.
C. They have great influence on us. D. They help us get special abilities.
24 What does the underlined part “a voice inside their head” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A. A kind word. B. A serious idea.
C. A wrong statement. D. A negative affirmation.
25. Which of the following is the right way to make an affirmation?
A. Try to use simple and positive words.
B. Write down how you feel in a sentence.
C. Pay attention to what you hear in your brain.
D. Think about both the good and bad sides of an event.
26. What is the author’s purpose of writing the passage?
A. To advise us to live an enjoyable life.
B. To show us the power of positive thoughts.
C. To encourage us to have a big dream for future.
D. To teach us a useful way to change our feelings.
C 24. D 25. A 26. B

So if you tell yourself you’re good at something, you’re more likely to have a go.”
根据“Maria Evans, a coach for young people, says everyone has a voice inside their head that tries to protect them from risks.” 因此a voice inside their head意为一种消极的肯定,即“a negative affirmation”。
根据“Also, if the affirmation is short and snappy it will be easier to remember.” 故选A。

Many people pay little attention to protecting our environment, so pollution is more and more serious. Some people waste water, food, and other things.
As a student, I always remember these three words: reduce, reuse, recycle. For example, I turn off the lights when I leave the room and I turn off the tap when I brush my teeth. I don’t use paper cups in my daily life. We often collect plastic bottles in our classroom. What’s more, I always take a bus to school instead of asking my parents to drive me.
I feel happy to do these things, because I believe if everyone of us does a little, we will make a difference to our environment.

Our school’s science festival just ended a few days ago. What interested me most was the car we made. It was made out of corrugated cardboard (硬纸板), but could still hold a person, as well as move.
We were excited about this idea, but we found it hard to make the car.
15. The car was made out of ________.
A. thick stone B. special glass C. strong wood D. corrugated cardboard

20 What does the last paragraph mainly talk about?
A. Where animals live? B. Why animals move?
C. How animals sleep? D. What animals feed on?
D
24. What does the underlined part “a voice inside their head” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
