China is working hard to help people control their weight and live healthier lives. The government has started a three-year “Weight Management(管理) Year” plan from 2024 to 2027 to fight against obesity(肥胖). Obesity can cause many serious health problems. Here’s what you should know about the new guidelines:
First, it’s important to check your BMI(身体质量指数). For adults, a healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24. If your BMI is between 24 and 28, you are overweight. A BMI of 28 or more means you are obese(肥胖的). Also doctors suggest measuring your waist(测量腰围). Men should keep their waist under 90 cm, and women und 85.
Eating well is very important, and exercise is just as important as that! Eat whole grains like brown rice, fresh vegetables, and lean proteins(精益蛋白质) such as fish. Don’t eat fried foods and sugary snacks, and also eat less salt and oil. For exercise, try to do 150-300 minutes of activities like walking every week.
Besides these, small daily habits can also make a big difference. Teens should sleep 7 hours every night because bad sleep can make you put on weight. Try to eat vegetables first, then meat, and finally rice or bread during a meal to control how much you eat.
By 2030, China hopes to slow down the growth of obesity.
Remember, losing weight isn’t about being perfect — just start with small changes, like drinking water instead of cola. With these easy steps, everyone can have a healthier future.

At the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, a group of children’s sweet voices touched many people’s hearts.
Among them, 38 children are members of the Niuniu Choir(合唱团), from Liangshan, Sichuan Province.
Jibu Xiaolong, a music teacher, set up the all-girls choir. One day, while he was playing his guitar and singing a pop song in the playground, a group of children gathered around, singing along with him. He then had an idea — why not set up a choir? The choir started small in 2018, with only four students at first. Over time, more joined, especially girls, so the Niuniu Choir was born.
Starting a choir was not easy. Though naturally talented, the children were often shy, especially when it came to performing in front of others. To solve this, Jibu Xiaolong helped the children build confidence, starting with simple solo(独唱的) performances before bringing them together as a group.
In 2020, the choir became famous after its videos were shared online. Lots of people offered help and later the choir performed on many big stages(舞台). Seeing his students perform at the Spring Festival Gala Jibu Xiaolong had a strong feeling of satisfaction. “We will never forget the experience,” he says.
Jibu Xiaolong also writes songs for the choir. These songs are about celebrating life, nature and hope. He says, “I simply want these girls to enjoy music and have hope and courage as a result. Through music, they see a wider world, and have the courage to go for their dreams.”
28. What does the second paragraph mainly talk about?
A. How people like the choir.
B. How the choir got its name.
C. How Jibu Xiaolong started the choir.
29. What difficulty did Jibu Xiaolong face at first?
A. The children were too shy.
B. The children were too busy.
C. The children didn’t have musical talent.
30. What do the underlined words “the experience” refer to?
A. Becoming famous. B. Sharing videos online. C. Performing at the gala.
31. What is Jibu Xiaolong’s hope?
A. The choir can get more help.
B. The girls can have a better education.
C. The girls can follow their dreams bravely.
