A
I'm not much of a crier most of the time. But recently when I was reading a book on a plane, I started crying. Of course, it came as a big surprise when tears came up, no matter how hard I tried, I wasn’t able to control myself.
Oh no, not this now. I thought to myself. But even as the thought entered my brain. I felt the first hot drop of salty water coming down my face. I put my head down, hoping that I could go on reading.
In fact, the harder I tried, the more tears pushed their way out of my eyes. You could guess how surprised the man next to me looked.
I dropped my head in shame. He must think I was crazy. May be I could turn toward him, hold up the cover of the book and say in my crying voice. "I'm sorry, sir. It's just a really good book! "But I didn't say anything. Instead, I just put my head back against the seat and let the tears run. Do you know what decision I made while I was crying? My decision was that it was okay if he thought I was crazy. I'd rather be crazy than be the kind of person who wouldn't cry when the situation called for it, or who wouldn't let herself feel anything at all.
I’ve been that girl who has spent so much time trying to make sure people didn’t think I was crazy. But now I don’t want to be that girl any more ---that bored and sad girl. I'd rather be this girl who is able to forgive(原谅), love and act, even if it means being disappointed or being hurt again and again.

Jonny, a 15-year-old student, is checking his dad’s old jacket. He says, “You’re 45. Dad, you’re never going to wear this again. Can I have it?”
Keith has had a bad day at work, and he is feeling old. And Jonny has hit his pain. Keith raises his voice and says, “What? You mean I’m too old to wear the jacket again?”
Jonny feels like this has come out of nowhere, and now he feels hurt. But I only asked, “Why are you shouting at me?”
“But I don’t like being treated as though I’m too old.” Both of them feel a bit upset.
Have you ever had a similar argument with the people around you? Here are some tips for you to remember when you’re getting mad.
● Accept your feelings and consider the other person’s feelings. That means not always making yourself “right” or “clever” and the other person “wrong” or “stupid”.
● Explain yourself and not the other person, so you can speak out your ideas by starting with “I” but not “You”.
● Don’t always have to reflect before reacting(回应). If you feel angry, I think it’s a good idea to stop for a moment and understand why.
●Don’t decide the purpose of the other person by your guessing. Try to work out what he or she is feeling, and admit(承认)it if you were wrong.
Don’t forget that it’s never too late to start the ways of communicating.

30.The best title for the passage can be ________.
A.Learn to Admit Your Mistakes Bravely
B.Be Patient with the People around You
C.An Argument between a Father and a Son
D.Good Ways of Communication Are Important

When I was a girl growing up, I cannot once ever remember either my mum or my grandma wasting food.
Anything we didn't eat at one meal was leftovers(剩菜). I can remember my grandma making a huge pot of potatoes. We would all eat until we were full enough, but there were always about half of the potatoes leftover. A few days later, Grandma would take those potatoes out of the fridge, boil some noodles, add some vegetables and mix them all together. And I also remember when I watched my mum fry bacon (煎培根)for us in the mornings, she would always take the oil carefully and pour it into a bottle. Then she would use it later to add flavor to so many other dishes. I was an adult before I realized that potatoes didn't actually taste like bacon!
I learned their lessons well, and after I grew up, I tried to never waste food myself. I always planned the week’s meals ahead of time and only bought what was on my shopping list so that nothing went to waste. Every meal went into our stomachs and any leftovers were later eaten by either myself my boys, my husband or, my dogs. To me, throwing food into the bin was just wrong.
However, when it comes to living, there are no leftovers. Life is just like a feast. Each moment that you don’t live is lost forever. Life cannot be saved or stored. Each day is a fresh beginning. Live each moment of your life to the fullest, then.

A.By shopping ahead of time.
B.By throwing it into the litter bin.

34.What does the underlined word “feast” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.Sweet dream. B.Large meal. C.Happy story. D.Beautiful picture.

days天;week周;year年;month月。根据最后一句“I will try my best for the next year’s swimming competition.”
took out取出;threw out掷出;gave out分发;put out熄灭。根据下文“…told me to stir while he was…the materials in it.” 故选A。

根据上文“Next, we deflated the risen dough.” 故选A。
根据“You can’t help putting the dough directly into the oven…” 故选A。

Jonny, a 15-year-old student, is checking his dad’s old jacket. He says, “You’re 45. Dad, you’re never going to wear this again. Can I have it?”
Keith has had a bad day at work, and he is feeling old. And Jonny has hit his pain. Keith raises his voice and says, “What? You mean I’m too old to wear the jacket again?”

Though I bought an economy seat (经济舱), you offered me a full-back massage (按摩) by repeatedly (反复地) kicking the back of my chair.
I didn’t pay for the in-flight entertainment package (娱乐包) and I was worried that I might get bored. But my worry was unnecessary. You were talking so loudly, although your friend wasn’t seated far away from you. Perhaps she’s hard of hearing? For the first time in my life, I wished I had had a hearing problem.
They must be delicious because you got one open every 30 minutes. Thanks for the loud chewing sounds!
At this point, I thought, “It can’t get any better than this.” But soon, my nose was assaulted (使难受) by a terrible smell. ②It was so nice of you to take off your shoes and put your feet between my seat and the plane window.
