No rules, No order
I’m Nancy and I’m 13. I’m studying in a junior high school. I have many school rules to follow. In the school, I must be kind to other students. I must wear the school uniform. I can’t have long hair. I can’t eat in the classroom. I can’t run in the hallway.
There are also many rules in my home. I must greet my parents when I get home, and I must say “Goodbye” when I leave home. I must wash my clothes. I must keep my bed clean. I can’t disturb (打扰) my parents when they are talking with others. I must do my homework on time.
I have to obey so many rules, and they are kind of strict, but I know the rules are important. They help me develop (养成) good habits (习惯). Everyone must obey some rules in life.

Why Do We Have Rules at Home?
为什么一定要有家规呢?家规可以帮助我们建立良好的家庭秩序,让我们与家人和谐相处,并帮助我们学会如何做出明智和负责任的行为和决定,从而帮助我们成长为更好的自己。
Being a teenager can be difficult, especially when it comes to rules at home. As a teenager, you are trying to find yourself, explore (探索) your independence, and think about who you are. At the same time, however, you are still living under the same roof (屋顶) as your parents and following their rules.
It can feel like your parents are always on your back about something, whether it's cleaning your room or doing your homework. It's easy to get frustrated and feel like your parents don't trust or understand you.
However, the truth is that rules are important for teenage boys and girls. They help you make good choices and learn responsibility. While it may not seem like it now, your parents are trying to help you become a responsible and independent adult.
Sure, it can be frustrating when you are not allowed to go out at night or have to check with your parents before you hang out with your friends, but these rules are in place for your safety. Your parents know that the world can be dangerous sometimes, and they need to be sure you are safe and protected.
Rules also help you develop good habits and discipline (自制力). When you follow them, you can learn how to manage your time and put first things first.
Of course, as a teenager, there will be times when you want to break the rules or push back against authority (威权). But it's important to remember that rules are there for a reason.
So, the next time you feel frustrated with your parents' rules, think about why those rules are in place. Remember that your parents love you and want what's best for you. And most importantly, remember that rules are a necessary part of growing up and becoming a responsible adult.

最后Dr know从更宏观的角度引导Alice思考了规则的意义,告诉她“No Rules, No Order”这个道理。
两封信从学生的生活实际出发,帮助学生审视生活中的各种规则,并正向引导学生应如何对待规则,帮助其了解规则存在的现实意义及其重要性,找到规则与自由间的平衡,构建正确的规则意识。

There are too many rules! At 6:00 a.m., my mom says, “Get up now and make your bed!” After breakfast, my mom always says, “Don’t leave the dirty dishes in the kitchen!” After that, I run to school because I can’t be late. At school, we have more rules—don’t be noisy, don’t eat in class, ...
My dad says I can’t play basketball after school because I must do my homework. I can play only at weekends. After dinner, I can’t relax either. I must read a book before I can watch TV. But I have to go to bed before 10:00. Rules, rules, rules! It’s terrible! What can I do, Dr Know?
Yours,
Molly Brown

Dear Molly,
I know how you feel but the rules can help you to be a better person.
You can’t be late for school. That shows your respect for your classmates and teachers. You have to do the housework like making your bed and cleaning the dirty dishes. It also shows your duty to your family. You have to go to bed before 10:00 because you need enough sleep to have a good health.
There are a lot of things you can do. You can play basketball at weekends. You can watch TV after you read a book.
It’s difficult to keep rules but they help us a lot. Remember: No rules, no order!
Best,
Dr Know

New Rules for Shanghai Subway
Do you feel angry if someone plays loud music or videos when you are on the subway? It’s not a problem for people in Shanghai now. Some new rules for the Shanghai subway came into force (开始生效) on December 1, 2020. One of them is “No using loudspeakers (扬声器)”. Subway riders have to use their earphones when they listen to music or watch movies on their phones.
People must follow this rule when they take the subway. Those who break the rule will be stopped by subway workers. If they don’t listen to the workers, they will be handed over to the police.
There are also some other rules, like people cannot bring bikes into the subway station; people cannot eat or drink in subway cars. People can see the signs (标牌) around the subway station and on the subway.
The local government (当地政府) hopes the new rules can create a better environment (环境) for subway riders. Many people welcome the new rules. They hope there are the same rules on buses and trains.

Surprising School Rules in Japan
What is school life like in Japan? Japanese students have uniforms, exams and grades, just like us. But some Japanese school rules may sound surprising.
Japanese students have to wear the same indoor shoes in the school buildings to keep the rooms clean. Not only that, they use the same schoolbags.
In Japan, the classroom is not only a place for learning but also for having lunch. At lunchtime, students and teachers eat together in the classroom. First, some students take the meals from the school lunch area. Then they serve the meals to their classmates and teachers. Everyone eats the same meal and they have to finish it in the allowed time. After lunch, the students clean up quickly.
In some countries, it is common to send naughty (淘气的) students out of the classroom. But it is a big no-no in Japanese schools. Teachers can not send students out of the classroom even if (即使) they are very naughty in class.
