During the Labour Day holiday, many people want to find dazi (搭子) or activity partners for travelling, eating or other activities. The activity of finding dazi is a new way of social contact (社交交往) for young people.
The idea of this activity is easy to understand. It helps people to find someone who has the same hobby as them and it doesn’t take much time. With one or a few dazi, people have more fun in the activities they are interested in.
A girl called Zhang Li, is a high school student from Shandong. She likes talking with her meal dazi when she is having lunch. “We love to share our ideas on the food,” said the girl. “If my meal dazi doesn’t come to school one day, I will be sad.”
“It takes a lot of time to make friends with others. But it doesn’t need much time to have a dazi,” said another girl Shi Zhimin, a student from Shanxi. Zhang Li also has the same idea. She doesn’t want to spend too much time making friends, so having a dazi is good for her. She can feel relaxed and then has more time to study.
Also, dazi sometimes may give you some big surprises. “Once, my game dazi and I did something wrong when playing a game, but we worked together to turn the tide (扭转局势). By playing the game together, I find I like working with others now!” Shi Zhimin said.
Dazi is usually beneficial but it can be dangerous. People may lie on the Internet. For example, a young and beautiful girl on the Internet may be an old, short, and heavy man in real life. So think twice when finding dazi.
36. According to the passage, people like finding dazi because _________.
A. they have the same idea about food
B. they want to spend more time with others
C. it helps people make friends from different places
D. it doesn’t take much time to find friends with the same hobbies
37. Put the following in the correct order.
①Zhang Li will feel sad if her meal dazi doesn’t come to school.
②Shi Zhimin and her game dazi work together to turn the tide in a game.
③Young people start to find dazi as a new way of social contact during Labour Day.
④Shi Zhimin believes that making dazi saves more time than making friends.

38. What does the underlined word “beneficial” mean?
A. Helpful. B. Strange. C. Interesting. D. Magic.
39. What may be the best title for the passage?
A. Dazi: A Dangerous Way to Make Friends B. Know the Culture of Dazi in China
C. Having a Dazi: More Fun, More Time D. Dazi: The New Way of Finding Activity Partners
40. Which of the following shows the structure of this passage?
A. B. C. D.
D
Do you like delicious blueberries? If so, when you eat next time, take a look at them. Are they really blue?
Not really. Take off the skin (表皮). The inside is white. Rub (摩擦) the inside of a blueberry on a white piece of paper. It is reddish-purple. And if you rub the outside of a blueberry, it gets almost black. But the moment you pick one, it does look blue. Why?
①The first way is through “structural color (结构色)”. ②The blueberry makes “structural color” in its own way. ③When the blueberry is full grown, it is black. ④But a thin layer of wax (蜡层), on the outside of the blueberry, gives it a blue look.
The second is through plant pigments (色素). The pigments on the blueberry skin take in (吸收) green and yellow light and reflect (反射) blue light. That’s why blueberries look blue in our eyes. In fact, there aren’t any “true blue” in the plants. We can also see the similar features (特点) on the green leaves.
The blueberry’s special color way is cool. It shows nature’s magic. More secrets in our nature are waiting for us to discover (发现)! Now your bowl of blueberries suddenly looks a lot more interesting!
41. According to paragraph 2, after you rub the outside of a blueberry, it almost looks _________.
A. blue B. black C. white D. reddish-purple
42. Where should this sentence “There are two ways to make colors.” go in paragraph 3?
A. Before sentence ①. B. Before sentence ②. C. After sentence ③. D. After sentence ④.
43. Which of the following probably shows why a leaf (叶子) looks green to us?
A. B. C. D.
44. The author writes the passage mainly to tell us _________.
A. why blueberries look blue B. how blueberries take off the skin
C. why blue is special in the plant world D. how blueberries taste delicious
45. What does the author infer (推断) about nature in the end?
A. It shows national magic. B. It has many kinds of fruit.
C. It is too hard to understand. D. It has many undiscovered things.

Anthea, Berlin
In fact, people are working on this, but it’s very difficult. For example, there’s little sunlight 100 meters underwater, and high pressure (压力) makes building safe walls challenging. Personally, I am afraid of sea and darkness. ____49____
Will scientists stop using animals for experiments (实验)?
Filippo, Bologna
____50____ People don’t like using animals, but testing on humans is dangerous. If someone became seriously ill or died, it would be a huge problem. 【答案】例文
Dear John,
How is everything going? I am glad to share with you our exciting relay race last Friday! Its theme is A Teamwork Experience-A relay race.
Our team prepared carefully: we chose comfortable sports clothes as well as sports shoes, discussed the running order, and even made a cheer slogan. During the race, though we dropped the baton once, we cheered each other up and kept running hard. After crossing the finish line, we hugged each other and took photos together. Although we didn’t win, we felt proud of our teamwork. This experience taught me that cooperation is more important than winning!
What about your school activities? Write back soon!
Yours,
Li Hua
