Dear Doris,
I'm glad to know that you are learning Chinese and need a short video of our PE as material. Now let me share the details about the video with you, hoping that you'll like it.
It is divided into three parts: the first part shows the place where we have PE class; the second part introduces our class process and main activities; the third part is the scene where we are practising Tai Chi.
Please refer to the attachment for the video. This short film is about 8 minutes long. If it's too long, you can edit it by yourself. If you have any other requirements, I will try my best to meet them. I'm looking forward to your early reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

One possible version:
When I returned home and saw it with my own eyes, I broke down. The once lively pub was now a charred skeleton, with its walls blackened and the roof collapsed. The garden was reduced to ashes, the rooms barely recognizable. I stood there, tears streaming down. Craig held my hand tightly, his presence silently supporting me. Then memories of the past, the laughter, the clinking of glasses, the expectant eyes of my grandfather... all emerged in my mind. Not like this, I decided, a determination to keep going on reignited and taking hold.
“We’re going to rebuild it,” I said to Craig, firmly. He nodded. The next months witnessed us working tirelessly, pouring our hearts into every detail. Our new design honored the pub’s history while adding modern touches—an even larger beer garden and better facilities. When the reopening day arrived, I stood behind the bar, welcoming everyone. Watching customers chatting and drinking happily, I felt the good old days were back and my grandfather was smiling beside me. It was as if he were saying to me: you carried on our family spirit.

【Text1】W: Yesterday I booked a flight for my trip to Osaka next week. I’m leaving soon.
M: Great! You haven’t had any time off for almost two years.
【Text2】M: I’m having trouble meeting people here in the city. Any ideas?
W: The gym is a good place to meet people. Or play in a team sport, such as baseball and volleyball.
M: That sounds fine. I’m good at playing tennis.
【Text3】W: Good evening, sir. Our special this evening is seafood. Would you like to try it?
M: Yeah, that sounds great. And a glass of ice water, please.
【Text4】M: When is the best time to see the Great Wall?
W: Some think the best time is spring. Others think it’s more beautiful in autumn.
M: I would like to see it when the forest turns yellow.
【Text5】W: Philip, have you got a meeting in Edinburgh?
M: Yes, I’m going to see some leaders from headquarters. Why?
W: I’m going to visit Glasgow on Wednesday, and it’s quite near Edinburgh.
M: Ah... I’m going to drive there tomorrow, so you can go with me.
【Text6】M: My feet hurt. This teacher has had us on our toes for hours practicing the same positions.
W: We’re beginners, and she wants to make sure we know the five basic ballet positions.
M: How do you stay so focused? I can barely stand anymore.
W: I keep my mind on how elegant I am becoming. And I want to perform at the Sydney Opera House some day. Just relax and let the music guide you.
【Text7】W: Hello, this is you tie bookstore. Can I help you?
M: Hello, I’m calling to complain about the book I bought in your online bookstore.
W: Oh, what seems to be the problem, Sir?
M: Well, I received the book yesterday, only to find some quality problems. Firstly, there are three pages missing, page 9,14 and 37. Besides, some lines in the book are not printed very clearly.
W: Oh, I am terribly sorry to hear that. I’d like to express my sincere apology to you for so much inconvenience. Please send the book back to us. After we confirm it, we promise to give the money back to you, or resend a new book to you. Which would you like us to do, Sir?
M: Just send me a new book without any problem.
W: All right, we’ll send it to you immediately after we confirm it. Sorry again for our fault.
【Text8】W: Good morning. This is Speed Bicycle Rental.
M: Good morning. A friend of mine suggested I call up to hire some bikes.
W: Oh, yes, a lot of people do so these days.
M: Yes, we’re just on holiday here for a few days and they said it would be a good idea to see the island by bike.
W: Well, it certainly is. And most people rent a motorbike because you can get around faster and even go to the beach if you like.
M: If I wanted to hire two morning motorbikes tomorrow for two days, would there be any problem?
W: None at all. May I have your name, please?
M: It’s Green. Jack Green.
W: And your telephone number?
M: I’m at the Home Inn Hotel. My number is 8070-1128. I’m in Room 2103. By the way, is your bike rental shop at No.100 Teckman Street?
W: That’s right.
M; Thank you. Bye.
【Text9】W: May I help you?
M: I’d like to return this sweater.
W: Well, what’s the problem?
M: The first time I washed, “it shrank.
W: But did you follow the washing instructions? No home machine washing or dry cleaning.” It can only be washed by hand. I think it says right here on the label.
M: How should I know that? The label is written in French!
W: Well, sir. And since the item you purchased was on clearance, we can’t return your money. You can only exchange it.
M: A clearance item! There wasn’t anything that said anything about that.
W: I guess you didn’t read the fine print in our ad. Look. Here’s the ad, and the information about the clearance sale is right here at the bottom on the back page.
M: Where? What? That small print? You’d need an electronic microscope to see those words.

I have been working at the Wanbao.Mozambique rice farm for eight years since my arrival in
2013.Before that,I worked as a technician at a farm near my hometown in Hubei province. In the
beginning, there were just a few local workers on the farm.Since 2015,many villagers living near
the farm have been recruited, and I have been guiding them as they have little knowledge on how
to grow rice properly.Nowadays, almost all the farmers who grow rice on the farm are locals.
The most difficult part of the training is communication. At first,I did not know how to speak
any Portuguese, the official language of Mozambique. But even if I did know,it still may not have
helped as most farmers cannot speak the language either.Sometimes,it seems like they cannot
understand each other well too,as they speak different local languages. So,I had to use gestures to
try to make myself understood and teach them, and after some time I found that it worked. Now,I

can speak a little of the local language, but sometimes I still have to make great efforts when
guiding the local farmers to do certain work such as the proper way to apply herbicides.
Another difficulty is the differences in natural conditions between Mozambique and China.
For example, soil in the farm is very soft and quickly dissolves in water, which is quite different
from the soil in China. This caused great difficulties for us in the beginning when we were building
water canals to irrigate the rice paddies,as the canal banks kept collapsing with water.Luckily, the
soil in the farm is very fertile and not polluted,so it is easier to yield good harvests with proper
farming and management.
In addition to having better harvests, many locals who work on the farm have also earned
more income through employment.Over the past eight years,I have seen many Chinese colleagues
come and go.They usually work for about one or two years here. However,I am determined to stay
as I have taken to the place and the locals, who have shown great respect to us believing we are
here to help them.
24.What does the underlined word "recruited"in paragraph 1 mean?
A.Directed.
B.Instructed.
C.Employed.
D.Forced.
25.Why did the author consider communication to be the most challenging part of training?
A.Because of official-language barrier and local-language diversity.
B.Because of the extreme difficulty in learning the official language.
C.Because of the locals'unwillingness to communicate with foreigners.
D.Because of the locals'preference for communicating with gestures.
26.According to the passage, which of the following statements is TRUE?
A.The local soil was suitable for building water canals to irrigate the rice paddies.
B.The author harvested both grains and friendships on the mission far from home.
C.Besides growing rice, the local people planted cash crops to eamn more money.
D.Similar soil conditions between China and Mozambique led to the rice harvest.
27.Which words best describe the author?
A.Stubbomn and smart.
B.Strong-willed and dedicated.
C.Ambitious and brave.
D.Peace-loving and generous.

Earthquakes are terrifying, even if they are usually brief.Within a few seconds they can do
widespread destruction,causing great structural damage,shifting landmasses,and triggering

longer.Some slow-slip events,which may be related to earthquakes,can even last decades.What
causes an earthquake to last so long?
In 2004,a 9.1 to 9.3 magnitude earthquake rocked the Indonesian island of Sumatra.A quarter
of a million people died or went missing in the tsunami that followed. It was one of the strongest
and longest earthquakes recorded, with shaking lasting for 10 minutes. The 1960 Valdivia
earthquake in Chile was the strongest ever recorded, with a magnitude from 9.4 to 9.6.The fault
(that ruptured was anywhere from 500 to 1,000 km long, and the resulting earthquake left
about 2 million people homeless.
Both of these were what is called megathrust earthquakes, and they happen when one tectonic
plate (slips under another. As one plate sinks, sometimes it gets stuck.Tension builds as
the plates accumulate energy.Eventually, this tension is released. These are the world's most
powerful earthquakes, and unfortunately, they are often some of the longest as well.
In general, the stronger the earthquake, the longer it is.As a general rule, the size and duration
of an earthquake depend on the length of the fault that slips. When an earthquake begins,we do not
necessarily know how big it will be or how long it will last."You can think about an earthquake
like a crack that grows over time,"explains an American geophysicist."Like on your windshield,
you get a little crack and then it grows,it grows,it grows.Well,an earthquake essentially does the
same thing.”
While earthquakes are terrifying to live through, they are also a sign of a dynamic and living
planet.Understanding where, when, how strong, and how long earthquakes are can help us to better
understand why they happen.Perhaps one day,we may even be able to predict them.
28.According to the passage, what kind of destruction may earthquakes bring?
A.Great structural damage and climate change.
B.Landmass shifts and tsunami occurrence.
C.Species extinction and water pollution.
D.People's homelessness and global warming.
29.How is Paragraph 3 developed?
A.By providing definitions or explanations.
B.By making comparisons and contrasts.
C.By using a narrative or chronological order.
D.By explaining the cause and effect.

Given the stressful nature of work in cities and the fast-paced urban life,after-work hours
have become an important time for people to relieve some of the stress and meet their social and
recreational needs. As summer temperatures rise,so does the night-time economy.
What makes up the night-time economy is essentially urban people's consumption from 6:00
in the evening to 6:00 the next momning.Data show that post-normal working hours are the "prime
time"for consumption in urban areas. For example, the sales of large shopping malls from 6 pm to
10 pm account for more than half of the whole day total. On Taobao, the peak transaction time is
between 9 pm and 10 pm,with night-time consumption accounting for more than 36 percent of the
all-day total. Also, the peak visiting time on short video websites such as TikTok and Kwai is from
9 pm to 11 pm.And the orders for food and beverage takeaways between 10 pm and 1 am the next
day have increased significantly.
Major cities in China and abroad have introduced many measures in recent years to promote
the night-time economy,with Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou,Tianjin and Chongqing issuing
several policies and developing world-class consumption centers to promote the night-time
economy. And cities such as Hangzhou,Nanjing,Hefei,Xi'an,Chengdu,Wuhan and Changsha
have introduced various promotional activities to boost night-time consumption.More than 40
foreign cities have issued policies related to the night-time economy. In fact, many cities boast of a
rich night life and use their thriving night-time economy to attract foreign tourists.
Now that the consumer market is firmly on the recovery path in China, the night-time
economy can meet people's social and recreational needs, facilitate the development of the service
sector, and increase domestic demand. Thanks to consumption upgrading, the consumption of
cultural, sports, entertainment and tourism services continues to increase. The night-time economy
not only offers local residents increasing consumption options such as shopping, meeting places
and entertainment venues, but also provides unique experiences like performances and events to
meet the diverse needs of different consumer groups.
