Hi Peter,
I'm Li Hua, a local from Yueyang. Excited to hear that you're planning a trip to our city and eager to
try local delicacies, I'm keen to share some of my top recommendations with you.
First and foremost, Yueyang Silver Fish is a must-try. These delicate fish are renowned for their
incredibly tender and boneless texture, making them perfect snacks. What can’t be missed is our crayfish,
which can be steamed but are typically prepared in spicy sauce, giving them a special and finger-licking
flavor. Additionally, our smoked pork is a testament to traditional preservation methods, and if you are a
fan of smoked bacon, you will be definitely left wanting more.
I hope you have an amazing culinary adventure in Yueyang! Looking forward to your visit.
Best regards.
Li Hua
第二节(满分 25分)
“Have a try!” Dad encouraged, presenting Joe the boots. Joe frowned at the big, heavy shoes, their
leather surface shinning. “They are for rugby, not football,” he complained. “Boots won’t score goals,” Dad
smiled, patting his shoulders.“It’s your heart and effort that win matches.”Joe stared at the clunky shoes,
recalling nights spent perfecting his tricks. Slowly, Dad’s words sank in—a heavy boot couldn’t hold back
the determination in his heart. Nodding silently, he tightened the laces, a spark of resolve replacing his
doubt.
With the boots, Joe stepped onto the field. The shoes felt like stones on his feet, and every run made
his heels ache. But as the match went on, he forgot the discomfort. In the final minute, a pass flew toward
him; he jumped, boots awkward but his strike firm. The ball hit the back of the net! Teammates shouted and
hugged him. Later, smiling and sweaty, Joe told Dad, "You were right. It’s about believing in myself." The
old rugby boots hung by his bed that night—not as a reminder of lack, but a sign of his new confidence:
true strength comes from within.

短对话:
1.校园生活
M: OK! Let’s have a break. Em. Did you have any questions about today’s assignments?
W: Yes, Mr. Clark. Should we write a full essay or just an outline?
M: An outline is enough.
2.听音乐会
W: Hey Jake, how was the concert last night?
M: Honestly, I was super excited at first. The violinist’s solo was breathtaking!
W: Sounds amazing! Did you stay till the end?
M: Well… the sound system started making noise. It ruined the mood.
3.暴风雨预防措施
M: Have you heard a storm is coming tonight?
W: Yeah, I’m worried about the strong winds and heavy rain.
M: Me too. I need to make sure my clothes are brought inside.
W: I think I should store some food and water just in case.
4.广场舞
M: Excuse me, could you tell me when the square dancing usually starts here?
W: Oh! The dancers gather at fifteen past seven pm. to warm up, and the music starts exactly 15 minutes
later. They finish by 9:00pm to avoid disturbing residents’ sleep.
M: That’s very considerate.
5.电车充电问题
W: Mike, the battery’s at 15%! Did you check if there are charging stations along this highway?
M: Ugh, I spent an hour searching online! Most stations show “busy” or “unavailable”. The charging points
are always in short supply, especially during festival rush hours.
长对话:
6.美术馆
M: Are there any special exhibitions right now?
W: Yes! We have a temporary impressionist exhibition on the 3rd floor.
M: That sounds wonderful. Is photography allowed?

W: At the information desk near the entrance. It’s available in 5 languages.
M: Perfect! And are there any guided tours?
W: Yes, we offer free English tours at 11 AM and 2 PM daily.
M: Great! One last question - is there a café here?
W: Yes, on the basement level. They serve light meals and coffee.

W: Wow, this place is really crowded with so many people waiting in line and all kinds of food stands! Can
you recommend me a typical Chinese noodle dish here?
M: There are many kinds of noodles to choose from. Over here, you can get a famous dish from the
north-western part of China—it’s called Lanzhou lamian. As you can see, these are hand-pulled noodles in
a rich beef soup.
W:That sounds really appetizing!
M: Yes, look, there is another dish called liangpi. It’s a kind of cold noodles made from rice.
W: I see. The sauce looks too spicy for me, though.

8.电影幕后制作(哪吒)
W: Hi, Tom. Have you watched the film Ne Zha?
M: Sure. It’s amazing, with a good story and cool special effects.
W: Right. Its making was tough.
M: Really? Tell me more.
W: Sound designers spent months recording sounds for Ne Zha’s flying fire wheels and sea monsters’ roars,
and made them fit the actions.
M: What about visual effects?
W: Harder. Ne Zha’s transformation scenes were complex. The team used new software and made detailed
models. For big scenes, like Ne Zha fighting Ao Bing, they worked with the cartoon-making team to match
movements with special effects.
M: No wonder it looks so good. Their hard work really paid off.
W: Exactly.
9.退换货

10.阿斯旺大坝(选必 3教材第 4单元 grammar课文精简版本)
The Abu Simbel temples in Egypt are ancient wonders. Built in the 13th century BCE, they witnessed
the architectural wisdom of Egyptian people. However, in the mid - 20th century, the temples were under
serious threat. The government in Egypt had decided to build the Aswan High Dam on the River Nile and
this structure would cause water levels to rise, which in turn would flood the Abu Simbel temples. This
decision caused widespread concern among people around the world. Fortunately, UNESCO put together
an international team of architects, engineers and heavy equipment operators, who decided to try to take the
temples apart, move their parts to a new location and then put them back together. Luckily, this risky plan
worked, showing the power of international cooperation in times of crisis.

Born in Steventon, Hampshire in 1775, Jane Austen was the seventh daughter of an
eight-child family. Her father was a minister and lived on a reasonable income of £600 a year.
However, although they were middle class, they didn’t have enough money for life. Jane Austen
was brought up with her five brothers and her elder sister Cassandra. Their relationship was very
close, especially the two sisters’.
Jane Austen wrote 6 novels. The earliest one, Sense and Sensibility, was begun about 1795.
But not until 1811 did she succeed in publishing it with the help of her brother, and on release, it
sold well. However, Jane achieved little fame as her books were published anonymously(化名
地), owing to the prejudice against women writers.
Jane spent most of her life being separated from certain sections of society. It was not
surprising then that her novels focused on two or three families of the middle or upper classes.
And at that time marriage was a big issue facing women and men; often financial factors were
the most important in deciding marriages. As an author, Jane objected to these financial
motivations in her novels. For example, in Pride and Prejudice , her most famous novel, the
main character’s mother is ridiculed for her ambitions to marry her daughters for maximum
financial rewards.
Jane Austen masterfully blends irony, social criticism, and humor in her writing. As one of
England’s most beloved novelists, she explored themes of love and class. The strength of Jane’s
novels was her ability to gain in-depth insights into the character and nature of human
relationships. During her lifetime, the novels were reasonably popular. One of her strongest
supporters was Walter Scott. He said of her novels: “That young lady has a talent for describing
the involvements of feelings and characters of ordinary life which is to me the most wonderful I
ever met with.”
24. Which of the following best describes Jane Austen’s family?
A. Wealthy and noble. B. Poor but well-connected.
C. Middle-class but distant. D. Working-class with literary ambitions.
25. Why were Jane Austen’s novels published under an assumed name?
A. To protect her privacy.
B. To achieve instant fame.
C. To stay away from attention.
D. To avoid social discrimination.
26. The author mentions Pride and Prejudice in Paragraph 3 to present __________.
A. Austen’s personal experiences.
B. Austen’s limited social perspective.
C. Austen’s criticism on money-based marriage values.
D. Austen’s different attitude towards marriage from her mother’s .
27. What contributes to Austen’s success according to Walter Scott?
A. Her family’s support. B. Her talent for writing.
C. Her ambition to succeed. D. Her sharp social commentary.

Scott Cooper is a 66-year-old Australian with dementia(痴呆症 ). Every day, he struggles
with forgetting where he puts his keys and sometimes can’t even recognize the faces of his
dearest friends. But he refuses to let this tough condition stop him from exploring the world! He
and his wife Jill take regular trips—twice a year. “Traveling helps me keep enjoying life,” Scott
said. “Although it can be tiring sometimes, these new experiences make my mind and body
active.”
Scientists predict that by 2050, around 153 million people globally will suffer from
dementia. However, a recent study interviewing over a hundred dementia patients in China,
reveals that travel can significantly benefit these patients. The new sights, smells, tastes, and
social interactions during travel offer crucial cognitive and sensory stimulation.
According to Jun Wen, a tourism lecturer at Edith Cowan University and researcher, the
expectation and planning in tourism stimulate brain function. Meanwhile, the exercise often
aligns with dementia treatment plans. Warren Harding, a dementia care professor, adds that
travel helps patients build confidence, trigger memories, and gain independence, serving as a
valuable addition to non-drug treatments by offering emotional and social benefits.
Around the world, countries are introducing creative programs to make travel more
accessible for people with dementia. In Western Australia, over 20 venues host “memory café”
events, where patients socialize over morning tea. Near Melbourne, Australia’s first
dementia-friendly sensory path winds through a forest.
These diverse efforts collectively represent a growing global trend. By focusing on the
unique needs of dementia patients, these actions not only enhance the travel experience for this
community but also set an example for more friendly and caring tourism worldwide. In years to
come, aged care experts hope people like Scott and Jill Cooper can holiday with greater ease,
creating memories from travel, no matter how long they last.
28. Why is Scott Cooper’s story mentioned in the first paragraph?
A. To promote his way of life.
B. To show his passion for travel.
C. To reveal a potential treatment for dementia.
D. To reflect his tough condition with dementia.
29. What might benefit patients with dementia during travel according to the study?
A. Chatting with locals.
B. Recalling fond memories.
C. Enjoying favourite foods.
D. Admiring familiar scenery.
30. What do the underlined words in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. conflicts with B. agrees with C. contrasts with D. deals with
31. What can we know about the dementia-friendly travel programs?
A. They make it accessible to travel in Australia.
B. They meet dementia patients’ medication needs.
C. They improve travel experience and global tourism.
D. They help dementia patients create long-term memories.

Traditional methods of diagnosing mental health conditions rely on direct conversations
between patients and mental specialists. However, these methods often face challenges such as
follow-up track over time and reliance on the doctors’ subjective judgments. To address these
issues, scientists are exploring AI tools that can automate the process.
Researchers at South-Central Minzu University in China developed an AI acoustic (声学的)
model that detects slight changes in a patient’s voice. It analyzes the sound properties of speech,
such as pitch, rhythm, and tone, to identify markers of mental health conditions like depression
or anxiety. Unlike text-based AI, which can be influenced by cultural biases(偏见) or language
barriers, acoustic model focuses on how words are spoken rather than the words themselves.
To detect minor changes in a patient’s voice, the model undergoes pre-training on large
speech datasets to recognize general speech patterns. This foundational step allows the system to
identify complex audio variations that may signal mental health issues. The model is then
fine-tuned using recordings of depressed patients to specialize in detecting depression. Results
showed 96% accuracy in detecting depression and 95% accuracy in categorizing its severity into
four levels. Another method, developed by researchers at Sorbonne University in Paris, uses
smartphone-recorded sound waves and then transforms them into spectrogram(声谱图). The AI
model analyzes these visual maps to detect mental health conditions. Though still in early stages,
this approach shows promise.
The potential applications are vast. AI-based speech analysis can help patients who struggle
to express clearly about their mental state, works across languages, and is particularly useful in
rural areas with limited mental health resources. It can also assist overburdened clinicians by
classifying patients and monitoring those undergoing home treatment.
While diagnosis is vital, personalized treatment is the next step. AI models could help
doctors tailor treatments based on specific symptoms, such as memory issues or exhaustion in
depression patients, further enhancing mental health care.
32. What’s the AI tools’ advantage over traditional diagnosis methods?
A. It talks directly to patients. B. It is totally independent of doctors.
C. It provides more accurate diagnosis. D. It is more objective and saves time.
33. How does the AI acoustic model work?
A. By understanding what patients say. B. By detecting the changes of patients.
C. By analyzing patients’ ways of speaking. D. By removing patients’ language barriers.
34. What may AI-based speech analysis help patients with ?
A. Clarifying mental conditions. B. Translating clinician’s advice.
C. Relieving their heavy burden. D. Gaining more home treatment.
35. What is the best title for this article?
A. The Promising future of AI-Models
B. The Limitations of Traditional Psychiatry
C. AI Diagnosis: A Revolutionary Tool for Mental Health
D. AI Models: An Effective Treatment in the Medical Industry

4 signs your body is begging for a break
If the smoke alarm in your house is beeping, you’ll spring into action. Yet we’re not so fast
to react to the alarm bells ringing in our own bodies, letting us know we need to slow down.
“A series of changes happen in the body when the stress response is activated in a sustained
way,” says Jennifer King, assistant director of the Center on Trauma and Adversity at Case
Western Reserve University. 36 . Here are the signs to watch out for.
Emotional changes
If you need a break, you might feel more anxious, more depressed, or more overwhelmed
than usual. Your thoughts might start wandering. And you’ll likely “feel like you can’t remember
things,” says Dr. Gerda Maissel, a physician and patient advocate. Stress can also prevent you
from enjoying activities you once loved. 37 . It’s a hint that something is off.
Tense relationship
“You might notice you’re feeling a little more emotional and bad-tempered” King says. “If
you’re finding that you want to isolate a little more, and keep to yourself — if that’s something
you weren’t already doing — that can be because of stress.” 38 . Often, other people are
the first to notice warning signs.
39
Stress can weaken the immune system, causing you to get sick more frequently. You might
notice you have a cough, a fever or a running nose more often than before.
Stomach and sleep issues
You may also experience digestive difficulties as well as appetite changes that cause you to
gain or lose weight. 40 .
If you realize your body is pushing you toward a break, try claiming just a few minutes of
calm with something pleasurable or fun. Taking a brief rest, “allows your body to metabolize
some of what you’ve been taking in”, she says, “and to feel ready for whatever is coming next.”
A. Frequent colds
B. Physical weaknesses
C. You are not fond of anything shared by your friends
D. You dislike opening a book you’ve been looking forward to
E. Feeling more tired than usual is pretty likely a cue you need more rest
F. If a familiar one cares about your mood, try not to get defensive or ignore it
G. Over time, that can cause high blood pressure, heart disease, and weight gain

For the rest of the week, Joe practiced kicking football hard, concentrating on his each
kicking. Sometimes Joe hit the ball straight. Sometimes it went wide again. But it seemed that
the more he believed he could do it, the easier it was.
“I’m not a joke now,” thought Joe. “Not a joke at all!” But a practice wasn’t like a real
match and his boots were still not giving him enough power. He should have told his mum and
dad about it straight away but, of course, he didn’t. He was always shy to ask for things.
Finally, late on the night before the match, he could hold himself back no longer.
“Dad, I haven’t got any proper football boots …” he said.
“Ah,” said Dad, “I might be able to help you there.”
At the words, Joe was excited. New boots! He thought. “He’s got me some new boots! He
must have got me them for Christmas,” thought Joe, “But now that I’m in an important match,
he’s giving them to me early. Wonderful!”
Dad went upstairs. Joe excitedly tried to watch the football preview on TV. He wasn’t
playing for Manchester United or Liverpool, of course, but he was part of it all now; part of the

thrill. His legs twitched with every kick on the screen. His head shook with every centre. And all
the time, his mind was racing ahead to his own great game the next morning, in his super new
boots.
It was ages before his dad came downstairs again. He put a large pair of shiny black boots
in front of Joe. As he stared at them, the boy felt as if someone had poured ice into his brain. The
boots were awful!
“Good, eh?” said his dad. Joe found it hard to speak. He had never seen anything like them
before. They weren’t low-cut, soft or…. They had big, hard square toes, great big long studs(饰
扣) and they were high at the ankle. They were his dad’s old rugby boots, polished up.
“Have a try!” Dad encouraged, presenting Joe the boots.
With the boots, Joe stepped onto the field.
