A 2. C 3. 根据“Environmental Benefits”部分中的“Urban gardens help make the air quality better by reducing pollution. Plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, making the air cleaner. (城市花园通过减少污染来帮助改善空气质量。植物吸收二氧化碳并释放氧气,使空气更清洁)”可知,城市花园能改善空气质量,故选A项。 2. 细节理解题。根据最后一段“However, these can be addressed through creative solutions like vertical gardening, taking advantage of containers, and conducting soil tests. (然而,这些问题可以通过诸如垂直园艺、利用容器以及进行土壤测试等创造性解决方案来解决)”可知,针对空间有限的问题,建议的解决办法是利用容器,故选C项。 3. 推理判断题。根据第一段“Urban gardening is the practice of growing plants in cities, using spaces like balconies, rooftops, and community plots. It has become popular as a way to bring nature into urban areas and offers many benefits. (城市园艺是在城市中利用阳台、屋顶和社区地块等空间种植植物的做法。它已成为将自然引入城市地区的一种流行方式,并提供了许多好处)”及全文内容可知,文章主要介绍城市园艺在城市中的实践及其好处,城市居民是主要相关群体,由此可推测,城市居民可能会发现这篇文章最有帮助。故选A项。 4. B 5. D 6. B 7. 根据第一段中的“However, decades ago, they faced the cruel reality of dying out in the wild. In the 1970s, with no other options left, they were taken into captivity (圈养) as an important measure to save the species. Unfortunately, by 2002, they completely disappeared from the wild. (然而,几十年前,他们面临着在野外灭绝的残酷现实。在20世纪70年代,由于没有其他选择,它们被圈养作为拯救物种的重要措施。不幸的是,到2002年,它们完全从野外消失了。)”可知,几十年前这种鸟面临在野外灭绝的残酷现实,2002 年它们从野外完全消失了,后来被圈养来拯救这个物种,由此可以推断出它们是濒危物种。故选B项。 5. 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Five one-year-old ‘alalā have been set free in a forest on Maui, an area free from hawks. Younger crows, being more adaptable, are expected to have a better chance of survival. In the forest, the birds are placed in a safe, netted enclosure (围场). Scientists are monitoring their every move closely, and they are also provided with additional food because they haven’t yet had the ability to find food independently. 根据最后一段“Hanna Mounce, the manager of the Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project, emphasizes that every small achievement counts in the fight to protect Hawaii’s precious wildlife. Although the ‘alalā doesn’t fully adapt to the wild just yet, the fact that they have been released and are currently doing well is unbelievably encouraging and marks a significant milestone in protection efforts. D 选项“Journey: From Captivity to the Wild(旅程:从圈养到野外)”最能概括文章内容,适合作为文章的标题。故选D项。 8. D 9. A 10. C 11. E 12. 8. 由上文“Every year, the spring rains cause weeds to appear everywhere, especially in the lawn. (每年春雨都会导致杂草丛生,尤其是草坪上。)”可知,此处需衔接邻居处理杂草的具体行为。D项He then starts to mix up all his different poisons in his garage. 中then承接春雨导致杂草生长的前提,“mix up all his different poisons”对应后文“one weed killer. . . another for. . . ”的分类除草剂,具体描述邻居对杂草的“极端处理”,与“hates to see even one weed”的性格形成呼应。故选D项。 9. 由上文“Knowing he meant well, I thanked him. (我知道他好意,便谢了他。)”及下文“I happen to like dandelions. (我偏偏喜欢蒲公英。)”可知,此处需转折表达内心真实感受。A项However, deep inside, I felt saddened. 故选A项。 10. 由下文“They certainly do grow where nothing else does, like along the side of my house. The flowers are a pretty bright yellow. They form their own picture of golden color around my washing line, something like a crazy artwork. (它们确实在其他地方生长,比如我家旁边。这些花是很亮的黄色。他们在我的晾衣绳周围形成了自己的金色图案,就像一件疯狂的艺术品。)”可知,此处需总述蒲公英的特点。C项Dandelions can be used for many different purposes. 11. 由上文“The flowers also add fine flavor and color when dropped in ice water. (花朵放入冰水中也能增添风味和色泽。)”及下文“They also add vitamins. (它们还富含维生素。)”可知,此处需具体说明蒲公英在饮食中的应用。E项Do you know that the leaves can be used in a salad to make it tastier?(你知道叶子能用于沙拉使其更美味吗?)中“leaves can be used in a salad”呼应“flowers add flavor”,通过“叶子 — 花朵”的不同部位举例,延续“食用价值”的论述,tastier与flavor形成语义衔接,且设问句式增强互动性。故选E项。 12. 由上文“So in the dandelion are both art and poetry. (因此蒲公英兼具艺术与诗意。)”可知,此处需升华主题,呼应自然之美。G项Let nature’s art and beauty never stop to fill you with joy and amazement. But in recent years, through some applications, it has been possible. 故选A项。 4. D 5. C 6. A 7. 根据划线单词所在语境“The search for new, clean energy sources has occupied the attention of scientists and politicians for years. One common resource for green energy is the wind. A new twist on this old resource could cause the energy output of wind-power plants to rocket. 风能作为一种常见的绿色能源,其开发利用如今有了新的突破——A new twist 这一古老资源可能使风力发电厂的能源产量大幅提升)”以及第二段“Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences in Germany have formed a kite-power research group. The group is working to develop kites with wings connected to electrical generators (发电机) on the ground. 根据文章第二段“Standard wind-power plants rely on solid support and generally can only reach a height of 200 meters or so. Higher than that, winds tend to be stronger and more consistent, but the challenge is figuring out how to gain the energy from those winds. 根据文章第三段“Nevertheless in June 2012, they demonstrated that their kites could operate automatically at a height of up to 700 meters. (尽管如此,2012年6月,他们成功演示了风筝在700米高空自主运行的能力)”可知,荷兰团队的风筝可至700米,利用风筝的飞行高度突破传统支架限制;再根据第四段“The kites themselves are light, tough and able to reach fairly high altitudes. They circle around in the wind, which sets the core of the generator in motion, producing electricity. 故选A。 7. 根据文章最后一段“Kite power has the potential to greatly improve on present wind-power strategies. In the future, it may be an efficient, cost-effective supplement (补充) to the other sources of energy we use, or even a replacement for some of them. B。 8. B 9. A 10. D 11. C 12. A 13. B 14. D 15. C 16. B 17. 故选A。 7. 通读全文,尤其是第二段“Western interest in Asian roads began earlier. Alexander the Great reached India, and Egyptian sea trade started from Alexandria. The messengers’ trip showed growing Silk Road connections. ,第三段“The sea route was found by accident. 和最后一段“Land roads across Central Asia were dangerous and blocked by Rome’s enemy, the Parthians. E 10. G 11. A 12. C 13. 9. 前文“The study focused on a particular theory of personality known as the Empathizing-Systemizing (E-S) Theory. (这项研究的重点是一种特殊的人格理论,即共情-系统化(E-S)理论)”提到研究涉及的E-S理论,后文“An empathizer likes to focus on and respond to the emotions of others, while a systemizer likes to analyze rules and patterns in the world. (共情型人格倾向于关注和回应他人的情绪,而系统型人格则喜欢分析世界中的规则和模式)”详细说明两类人格对应的思维风格,此处需解释E-S理论中的分类方式,因此E项“It divides people into groups according to whether they tend to empathize or systemize. 10. 前文““Although people’s music choices change over time, we’ve discovered a person’s empathy level and thinking style predict what kind of music they like,” said PhD student David Greenberg, the leader of the study, in a statement. B。 14. A 15. C 16. D 17. A 18. B 19. C 20. B 21. D 22. B 23. A 24. C 25. A 26. B 27. D 28. This doesn’t mean specific beliefs are rooted in our brains, but our minds seem to naturally believe in supernatural beings. Some think these supernatural beliefs have damaged useful parts of our minds. However, Dominic Johnson, in his book ‌“God Is Watching You,” argues that believing in God, especially in higher power that can punish. is actually helpful to evolution (发展). Johnson suggests that it’s not harmful to overreact to things that don’t exist. But failing to notice dangerous signs, like dangerous animals, could be deadly. This has led to an evolutionary preference to alert (警觉) about hidden threats everywhere. This alertness is common even among those who don’t believe in God. For example, an experiment showed that people were more likely to contribute to a shared coffee fund when there was a picture of eyes on the collection box. Johnson also points out that societies that punish cheaters are more likely to become stronger. He talks about the philosopher (哲学家) John Locke, whose research on 186 pre-industrial cultures found that religious beliefs were more common in larger, more complex societies. While this doesn’t prove that these beliefs caused social complexity, the finding prove Johnson’s theory that religion beliefs allow societies to take action together and plan for the future. Johnson believes that the religious belief is deeply rooted in human mind. Critics of the beliefs should consider working with them rather than against them. As for what form a religious belief might take, the author keeps it an open question. Maybe this is a little difficult book to read or understand. It really needs readers’ patience. 4. Why does the author mention ‌“eyes” experiment in paragraph 2? A. To praise people’s kind behavior. B. To show people’s preference for coffee. C. To stress the effect of pictures on humans. D. To prove the commonness of alertness among humans. 5. What can we infer from John Locke’s research? A. Religion helps make future development. B. Religion is a result of complex societies. C. Religion is widely spread in weak countries. D. Religion can completely decide social power. 6. What is the focus of the passage? A. Roots of religious beliefs. B. Evolutionary advantage of religious beliefs. C. Social power and complexity. D. Punishment in religious context. 7. Where is the text most probably taken from? A. An introduction to a book. B. A story about a philosopher. C. A guidebook to religious beliefs. D. A research on people’s patience. (23-24高一下·河南·期中)Our family moved here from China two years ago, and we 8 we were pretty well adjusted (适应) to American ways. It has become popular as a way to bring nature into urban areas and offers many benefits. Environmental Benefits Urban gardens help make the air quality better by reducing pollution. Plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, making the air cleaner. They also reduce the urban heat island effect by providing green spaces. Additionally, urban gardens promote biodiversity by creating habitats for beneficial insects, birds, and other wildlife. Health and Well-being Urban gardening can have a positive impact on mental health. Spending time outdoors and connecting with nature help reduce stress and anxiety. Physically, gardening encourages exercise through tasks like digging and planting, promoting overall health. Food Security and Sustainability Urban gardens provide access to fresh, organic produce, especially in areas where grocery stores are rare. By growing food locally, urban gardening reduces the need for long-distance transportation, lowering carbon emissions. It also promotes sustainable practices to reduce waste and enrich the soil. Community Engagement Urban gardens often serve as community hubs where neighbors can come together These shared spaces build a sense of belonging and unity. They also provide opportunities for people to learn about sustainable living and plant life cycles. Despite its benefits, urban gardening faces challenges such as limited space, soil pollution, and lack of resources. However, these can be addressed through creative solutions like vertical gardening, taking advantage of containers, and conducting soil tests. B (24-25高一下·四川泸州·期末)The ‘alalā, a unique kind of crow native only to Hawaii, has a deep cultural significance for native Hawaiians. These intelligent and talkative birds are known for their different calls. However, decades ago, they faced the cruel reality of dying out in the wild. In the 1970s, with no other options left, they were taken into captivity (圈养) as an important measure to save the species. Unfortunately, by 2002, they completely disappeared from the wild. Thankfully, a special breeding program managed to turn things around to some degree. The population has now grown to over 100 birds. But the journey to reintroduce them to their natural habitat has been tough. In 2016, a group of ‘alalā was released on Hawai’s Big Island. Aware of the presence of their natural predator (捕食动物), a hawk known as the ‘io, wildlife protectors provided the birds with predator-training. Despite these efforts, the hawks still managed to hunt the released crows, and recaptured the remaining birds. Now, a new and promising effort is being made. Five one-year-old ‘alalā have been set free in a forest on Maui, an area free from hawks. Younger crows, being more adaptable, are expected to have a better chance of survival. In the forest, the birds are placed in a safe, netted enclosure (围场). Scientists are monitoring their every move closely, and they are also provided with additional food because they haven’t yet had the ability to find food independently. For the ‘alalā, after so many years in captivity, there is no clear path for fully returning them to the wild. Hanna Mounce, the manager of the Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project, emphasizes that every small achievement counts in the fight to protect Hawaii’s precious wildlife. Although the ‘alalā doesn’t fully adapt to the wild just yet, the fact that they have been released and are currently doing well is unbelievably encouraging and marks a significant milestone in protection efforts. 4. What do we know about the ‘alalā from the first paragraph? A. They are fit to live in groups. B. They are an endangered species. C. They are Hawaiians’ favorites. D. They are good at communication. 5. What are scientists doing about the five one-year-old ‘alalā now? A. Getting close to them slowly. B. Adjusting their food structure. C. Teaching them different living skills. D. Putting them in a forest under protection. 6. What is Hanna Mounce’s attitude towards the ‘alalā protection efforts? A. Unclear. B. Optimistic C. Worried. D. Critical. 7. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Alalā: A Unique Bird Found B. Maui: A Dream Place for Birds C. Project: Saving Precious Wildlife D. I understand his feelings but I accept a little more of a natural look. Every year, the spring rains cause weeds to appear everywhere, especially in the lawn. 8 There is one weed killer for killing weeds in paths, another for killing weeds in flower beds, another for killing grass in flower beds and yet another for killing weeds in grass. One day when I got home from work, he was killing the dandelions (蒲公英) growing at the side of my house. “I’m sure that you will be happy with me killing these weeds for you,” he said. Knowing he meant well, I thanked him. 9 I happen to like dandelions. For me, even in something as simple as a dandelion, there is art. In fact, there is even poetry in a dandelion! 10 They certainly do grow where nothing else does, like along the side of my house. The flowers are a pretty bright yellow. They form their own picture of golden color around my washing line, something like a crazy artwork. The flowers also add fine flavor and color when dropped in ice water. 11 They also add vitamins. I’ve been told that the leaves and roots contain vitamins A, B and C as well as minerals such as iron and calcium. It does not taste that great, but it certainly is good for you. Actually, dandelions are common and delicate, so we label them weeds and kill them. But I say that they are works of art, carefully made by nature’s magical hand. As the season progresses, the flower turns into puffy seeds that can float in the wind. If you blow the round head of seeds gently but firmly, the seeds fly away, forming a kind of art on the move. So in the dandelion are both art and poetry. 12 A. However, deep inside, I felt saddened. B. They can make food not only tasty but nutritious. C. Dandelions can be used for many different purposes. D. He then starts to mix up all his different poisons in his garage. E. Do you know that the leaves can be used in a salad to make it tastier? F. But to be honest, I didn’t want dandelions to grow freely in my garden. G. Let nature’s art and beauty never stop to fill you with joy and amazement. (24-25高一下·湖南衡阳·期中)For the past four years I had been having up to 30 epileptic seizures (癫痫发作) a day. B (24-25高一下·湖北咸宁·期末)The search for new, clean energy sources has occupied the attention of scientists and politicians for years. One common resource for green energy is the wind. A new twist on this old resource could cause the energy output of wind-power plants to rocket. Standard wind-power plants rely on solid support and generally can only reach a height of 200 meters or so. Higher than that, winds tend to be stronger and more consistent, but the challenge is figuring out how to gain the energy from those winds. Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences in Germany have formed a kite-power research group. The group is working to develop kites with wings connected to electrical generators (发电机) on the ground. The research group’s goal is to design a kite that can operate on its own for 24 hours. Research has begun, but many challenges remain, including making the generators more efficient and perfecting the automatic flight control and the structure of the kites. Nevertheless in June 2012, they demonstrated that their kites could operate automatically at a height of up to 700 meters. Meanwhile, in Italy, researchers are working on a similar power generator that relies on kites. When the generator, called KiteGen, senses the wind blowing, kites are released from the ends of poles with high-resistance cables (线) to control their height and angle. These cables are able to move the kites if the system senses incoming objects such as planes, helicopters or even individual birds. The kites themselves are light, tough and able to reach fairly high altitudes. They circle around in the wind, which sets the core of the generator in motion, producing electricity. KiteGen has the potential to be very cost-effective in the long run. After the initial cost of designing and setting up the plant, little additional investment will be necessary, apart from standard repair. The plant also requires relatively little space, which makes it ideal for cities and means that multiple plants can be set up to provide even more energy. Kite power has the potential to greatly improve on present wind-power strategies. In the future, it may be an efficient, cost-effective supplement (补充) to the other sources of energy we use, or even a replacement for some of them. 4. What does the underlined expression “a new twist” probably mean in the first paragraph? A. A strict standard. B. A challenging task. C. A strong motivation. D. A clever idea. 5. If the wind-power plants are higher than 200 meters, what is the problem? A. It is a waste of money. B. It is extremely dangerous. C. It is hard to obtain the energy. D. It is totally unrealistic. 6. Why do both of the researches choose kites? A. Kites can fly high. B. Kites are a new trend. C. Kites are eco-friendly. D. Kites can replace old equipment 7. What is the author’s attitude towards kite power A. Cautious B. Optimistic. C. Unclear. D. In the article, various people said that the public should oppose the idea of developing driverless cars. They said that some advances in technology were unnecessary and could even be dangerous. Hence, we should cease accepting technology just because it is new. The newspaper reported that the car company had already apologized for the accident, but the families of the deceased said it was not enough. Nevertheless, the company still claimed that most people would be travelling in driverless cars one day soon. On the one hand, there are many different groups of people around the world who live happily in the absence of new technology. Probably the most well-known are the Amish, a group of Christians living in rural America. They do not own or drive cars, watch TV, or use the Internet. They have lived mainly as farmers since the 18th century and they will probably be living the same way in the distant future. They advocate a simple life with an emphasis on hard work, family, and community. They think that is better than caring about luxuries or following the lives of the rich and famous. It could even be argued that the Amish’s quality of life is better since they live in and appreciate the natural environment rather than living in large, polluted cities. 参考词汇: the Internet keep in touch  social media health monitor Paragraph 1: On the other hand, new technology has provided people everywhere with many benefits over the years. B (24-25高一下·云南保山·期末)In AD 166, messengers saying they were from Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius came to Luoyang, China. They traveled through Southeast Asia and then by land. The Chinese called Rome as Da Qin, seeing it equally powerful as their own empire, but this was the first direct meeting. They offered only simple gifts like elephant teeth and animal horns found in Southeast Asia. Their strange path through Vietnam—instead of the usual Gansu road—made people doubt if they were real government messengers. Western interest in Asian roads began earlier. Alexander the Great reached India, and Egyptian sea trade started from Alexandria. The messengers’ trip showed growing Silk Road connections. The sea route was found by accident. A lost Indian sailor was saved in the Red Sea. After learning Greek, he explained seasonal winds: winds blow toward India from March-September, and toward Egypt from October-February. Explorer Eudoxus used these winds to reach India in weeks, starting Indian Ocean trade. After Rome took Egypt (30 BC), Alexandria became the main port for Eastern goods. Important Egyptian ports sent up to 120 ships to India yearly under Rome. Romans’ strong liking for silk, especially after Augustus ruled, made Rome lose much gold trading with the East. A 1st-century trader’s book (Periplus Maris Erythraei) listed key Indian ports. Silk reached ports like Barygaza by land from China (“Silk Country”), but few Westerners met Chinese. Traders going to China usually sailed through Sri Lanka to Cattigara (Vietnam). Roman objects found there suggest the AD 166 “messengers” might be Cattigara traders. Land roads across Central Asia were dangerous and blocked by Rome’s enemy, the Parthians. Land trips like Maes Titianus’ took two years—far longer than weeks by sea. Silk Road trade grew strong again during China’s Tang dynasty and Mongol rule, but slowed when the Ottoman Empire blocked land trade, pushing Europeans to seek sea roads. 4. Why did people doubt the messengers were real government ones? A. They came by land. B. They brought inexpensive gifts. C. They traveled through Vietnam. D. They were from Marcus Aurelius. 5. What was the result of Eudoxus’ use of the seasonal winds? A. He discovered the sea route. B. He reached India very quickly. C. He saved a lost Indian sailor. D. He began business with the Greeks. 6. What can be inferred about silk trade on the Silk Road? A. Silk passed through many hands. B. The Parthians supported silk trade. C. Roman traders preferred land routes. D. Rome bought more silk than it sold. 7. What is the main idea of the text? A. The importance of Alexandria. B. The story of a lost Indian sailor. C. The relation between Rome and China. D. The development of Silk Road trade. (24-25高一下·江苏泰州·期末)Most of us enjoy travelling, whether we’re traveling abroad, or exploring where we live. Besides relaxation of travel, it is also a wonderful way of learning more about ourselves and strengthening our social bonds. The well-being benefits of travel are what drive us to set off. Most of us follow a routine every day. 8 Travel, whether it is a few days off, or a longer journey, is a way to relax ourselves both emotionally and mentally. Travel is a good chance to better understand ourselves. It helps us develop awareness of not only our own existence, but also our thoughts and surroundings. 9 Moreover, it teaches us what is important and what happiness means to people. Travel also teaches us the significance of communicating with others. Going for a walk with friends in the local countryside helped us realize that time in nature with loved ones is something we’d like to do. 10 To enjoy our travel, several aspects should be taken into consideration. Start by figuring out what we want to gain from the trip. 11 Additionally, consider what we’ve valued about the past trip, and whether this fits with what we want to do now. 12 That could be anything from visiting a new café and trying something on the menu, to challenging a new sport. When back home, keep in mind what we value in this trip. Sometimes, it’s the conversation we have with a local, or the experience of seeing the city from a new perspective that stays in our mind. A. The time we spend in nature brings us more friends. B. Understanding its purpose can help us plan the trip better. C. In other words, it allows us to grasp what kind of persons we are. D. The enjoyment of a day trip can last long after you are back home. E. One of the most important parts of travel is experiencing something new. F. But here’s something parents can use to give their kids a reason to try: A study has found that playing a musical instrument may lead to better brain health in later life. That might not be enough to encourage a child who has better things to do, but it’s good news for those who enjoy music. Researchers from the UK looked at data from an online survey of more than 1,000 people over the age of 40 who had been asked to talk about their musical experiences and exposure (暴露) to music during their lives. They were also given tasks that tested their memory and skills in things like planning and focusing. The study found that playing a musical instrument, especially the piano, was connected with better memory and thinking skills. And continuing to play an instrument into later life was found to have an even more salutary effect. Singing was related to better brain health in older age too. The research team suggested that the social factors that came with singing in a singing group may also have had an effect. One of the researchers, Anne Corbett, who is a professor of dementia (痴呆) research at the University of Exeter, said that encouraging older adults to return to music later in life could be a useful public health strategy. She said, “There is much evidence for the benefit of music group activities for individuals with dementia. ” And she suggested that such activities could be used to reduce the risk of developing dementia. Of those who took part in the survey, 89% said they had played a musical instrument at some time in their lives, and about half still played one. Around seven out of ten said they had taken part in group singing. 5. Which is a benefit children learning musical instruments get according to the text? A. Becoming famous. B. Getting courage to try new things. C. Obtaining the ability to do things well. D. Having better brain health in later life. 6. What does the underlined word “salutary” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Typical. B. Absolute. C. Positive. D. Sufficient. 7. According to Anne, how could music benefit older adults? A. It encourages them to sing more. B. It provides a relaxing mind in their free time. C. It lowers the chance of developing dementia. D. It helps them stay physically active. 8. What is the author’s purpose of writing the text? A. To explain the importance of a hobby. B. To describe that singing is good for health. C. To tell us what we should do in daily life. D. To encourage people to join in music activities. (24-25高一下·北京·期末)Your Musical Preference Gives Insights into How You Think A study out of Cambridge found that your musical preferences can give insights into how you think. The study focused on a particular theory of personality known as the Empathizing-Systemizing (E-S) Theory. 9 An empathizer likes to focus on and respond to the emotions of others, while a systemizer likes to analyze rules and patterns in the world. Cognitive style may seem like an unusual way to group people, but the researchers found that it worked well. “Although people’s music choices change over time, we’ve discovered a person’s empathy level and thinking style predict what kind of music they like,” said PhD student David Greenberg, the leader of the study, in a statement. 10 To study a somewhat unusual subject, they took a somewhat unique route: They gathered data through Facebook. Over 4,000 people participated through the myPersonality app by first taking a personality assessment. Later, they listened to and rated 50 musical pieces. For those who scored high on empathy, they tended to prefer soft rock, R&B country, and folk. 11 Further, they tended to enjoy music that had low energy, negative emotions, or emotional depth. From these characteristics, the researchers identified several songs that would be ideal for empathizers: “Hallelujah” by Jeff Buckley, “Come away with me” by Norah Jones, and “All of me” by Billie Holiday. 12 They favored intense music and disliked the soft and simple styles. Their music tended towards high energy, or positive emotions, and also featured a high degree of depth and complexity. From this, the researchers believed that “Concerto in C” by Antonio Vivaldi, “Etude Opus 65 No. 3” by Alexander Scriabin, and “Enter Sandman” by Metallica would be ideal songs for systemizers. 13 “A lot of money is put into algorithms (运算法则) to choose what music you may want to listen to, for example, on Spotify and Apple Music,” said Greenberg. “By knowing an individual’s thinking style, such services might in future be able to fine tune their music recommendations to an individual. ” A. But they disliked more intense music like punk and heavy metal. B. These findings could prove useful, especially for the music industry. C. Meanwhile, those who scored high on systemizing were exactly opposite. D. Based on the findings, researchers recommend particular styles for different people. E. It divides people into groups according to whether they tend to empathize or systemize. F. He argued that musical preferences reflect clear characteristics such as age and personality. G. He argued people’s cognitive style can be a better predictor of what music they like than their personality. (24-25高一下·四川内江·期末)When the host announced my choir (合唱队) won the second place, I couldn’t believe it. At that time Paricutin was 500 feet high and it is now over 9 000 feet high. Today Paricutin is asleep. What is Paricutin? It was the first volcano (火山) in the world which was seen from its birth right up to the present day. On February 20, 1943 a peasant and his wife set out to work in their corn fields from the Mexican village of Paricutin. They were surprised to find the earth warm under their feet. Suddenly they heard noise deep in the earth and a small hole appeared in their field. In the afternoon there was a sudden loud noise and stones were thrown high in the air. The peasants ran from the field and turned to watch. They saw the birth of a volcano. Large quantities of stone and lava broke out and a little hill began to form. By evening this hill was 100 feet high and hot ashes (灰烬) were falling on the village. At night the strong light of the hot lava lit up the countryside. The trees near the village were killed and the villagers had to leave their houses. When the village was destroyed, its name was given to the volcano. B (24-25高一上·云南昆明·期末)Global warming is greatly affecting sea turtle babies — 99% of them are being born female. Sea turtle populations have been facing an obvious population drop, which are further worsened by climate change. Floridian sea turtles for the past four years have been facing the hottest summers in Florida state history. Bette Zirkelback, a manager of the Turtle Hospital within the Florida Keys, noted that, “Scientists, who are studying sea turtle hatching (孵化), have found no male sea turtles and only female sea turtles for the past four years. ” This surprising trend shows how climate change is affecting the species and how animals struggle to adapt to these unnatural changes. Commonly, sex is determined before birth, but in sea turtles, something unique happens. When female sea turtles bury their eggs in the sand, the sex is decided by the temperature of the sand on the beaches. These turtle eggs will hatch for around two months, and their sex is decided by a temperature difference of around 4 degrees. Sea turtles that hatch below 27. 7℃ will be born male. If sea turtles hatch above 31℃, they will be born female. Melissa Rosales Rodriguez, a sea turtle keeper at the Miami Zoo Turtle Hospital, expressed her concerns saying, “In the years to come, we’re going to see an obvious drop in their population because we just don’t have the genetic diversity (基因多样性). We don’t have the male-to-female rate needed in order to be able to have enough sea turtle babies. ” Therefore, in sea turtle hatching grounds around the world, there is a huge need for sea turtle protection centers to ensure the future of sea turtles. 5. What is the major threat to sea turtles? A. Habitat loss. B. Human activities. C. Climate change. D. Water pollution. 6. What can be inferred about sea turtles from Paragraph 3? A. They have a fixed male-to-female rate. B. They require high temperatures to hatch. C. Their eggs are laid on the beach surface. D. Their sex is affected by sand temperature. 7. What does the author suggest for sea turtles? A. Establishing preservation sites globally. B. Improving the success rate of hatching. C. Fixing the sand temperature to a fit level. D. Protecting the eggs from their enemies. 8. Which can be a suitable title for the text? A. Ways to Ensure the Future of Sea Turtles B. The Drop of Female Sea Turtle Populations C.
