七、读写综合(本大题分为A、B两部分,共20分)
A.回答问题
Friends Bring Riches and Reduce (减少) Stress
People often say that friends bring riches. An American study asked eighteen-year-olds to list their three best friends. Years later, it was discovered that those named most often usually make the most money. The researchers believed this is because people with better social skills do better in the work place. But friends don’t just help with success—they also help reduce stress. When we feel worried or upset, talking to a good friend can make us feel much better.
It is said that we all have about 150 friends. This may sound like a lot, but only about five of those are really close friends. These close friends are the ones who truly understand us and support us when we face difficulties. About another ten are part of a group, and these can include family members. Then there are about thirty-five not-so-close friends, and the other 100 are really just people we know.
Have social networking websites changed this? Facebook, one of the most popular social net working sites, has more than 300 million active users worldwide, all making new friends online. The average number of Facebook friends is 130, but many people have hundreds or even thousands of online friends. While it’s easy to make friends online, research shows that the number of close friends stays the same—about five. True friends are the ones who help us through hard times, listen to our problems, and make us feel less stressed.
So, while having many friends can be fun, what really matters is having a few true friends who support us, help us succeed, and make life’s challenges easier to handle. Friends not only bring riches but also happiness and peace of mind.

“Show yourself and make yourself better ---that’s the best lesson I have learned,” Li told the researchers.
