1. Only when students _____ willing to learn _____ be active in learning activities.
A. will become; they can B. become; they can
C. will become; can they D. become; can they
2. For the students of senior 3, every minute ________ full use of ________ our lessons will get them well prepared.
A. making; studying B. made; to study C. made; studying D. to make; studying
动词短语make full use of和名词every minute之间是被动关系,故用其过去分词作后置定语;make full use of every minute to do sth.
3. ________ in her assignment, Mary didn’t notice her partner ________ in a new skirt.
A. Absorbed; dressed B. Absorbing; dressed
C. Having absorbed; dressing D. To be absorbed; dressing
【答案】A
故选A项。
4. The air quality in the eastern cities, ____is shown in these reports, _____ improved over the past two months.
A. that, have B. it, has C. as, has D. what, have
时间状语over the past two months常与现在完成时连用,因此谓语动词用has improved。故选C项。
5. The discovery of new evidence led to ________.
A. the thief having caught B. catch the thief
C. the thief being caught D. the thief to be caught
6. We should take into account students’ suggestion that the school library ______ more books on popular science.
A. provide B. provided C. providing D. provides
【答案】A
7. ________ to the gift was a note on which he expressed his gratitude for our reception during his stay here.
A. To attach B. Attaching C. Attached D. Having attached
be attached to意为“被贴在……上”,为固定搭配。分析句子结构可知,此处使用了完全倒装句型,表语前置。故选C。
8. ---_________ makes your son feel blue today?
---_________ to watch his favourite cartoon Paw Patrol.
A. What it is that; To be forbidden B. What is that; Forbidden
C. What is it that; Being forbidden D. That is what; Having forbidden
What is it that makes your son feel blue today?
9. You can never imagine what great trouble I had ______ the poor boy and the little dog _____ were seriously hurt.
A. help; which B. to help; that C. helping; that D. helped; who
have trouble doing sth为固定搭配,意为“做某事有困难”,故填helping;分析句子可知,第二个设空处是一个定语从句,先行词是“he poor boy and the little dog”既有人又有物,故应用that来引导。
10. — What’s it that cost him the job?
—________ experience. He was always very nervous.
A. Lacked B. Being lacked C. Lacking D. Lacking of
Lacking experience cost him the job.( 缺乏经验让他失去了这份工作。)
11. With too much homework ______ and upcoming deadlines, he had no choice but to stay at home and focus on completing his assignments.
A. having done B. to do C. doing D. being done
本句为with的复合结构“with + 宾语 + 宾语补足语”,根据句意及后文“he had no choice but to stay at home and focus on completing his assignments”可知,他有作业要完成,所以要待在家里,应用不定式作宾语补足语,表示动作尚未发生。故选B项。
12. There is a new problem _________ in the popularity of private cars that road conditions need _________.
A. involved; improving B. involved; to improve
C. involving; improving D. involving; to be improved
【答案】A
第一空,_____ in the popularity of private cars为后置定语修饰名词problem,动词involve与problem之间是被动关系,因此应用过去分词形式involved;第二空,need doing或need to be done为固定搭配,表示某事需要被做,所以第二空应填improving或to be improved,结合选项可知,只有A项符合题意。故选A项。
13. Whatever is ________ is _____ well.
A. worthy of being done ; worthy doing B. worthy doing ; worth to be done
C. worth being done ; worth of being done D. worth doing ; worthy to be done.

B
It was June 14 and the last day of middle school had arrived.
I had spent the past couple of months trashing and treasuring all the things that I had accumulated in my classroom over the past 19 years. Looking into my classroom, you can see about two dozen boxes and bins inside, piled nearly three-quarters high to the ceiling, all packed and ready for the big move. The 22-million-dollar restoration work was only days away from starting and we were instructed that everything must go.
My parents Michael and Donna, wife Laura and newborn baby Summer had arrived that day. The students had heard so much about my daughter and were excited to meet her for the first time. My mother was there to help organize my classroom nearly 19 years ago and hadn’t seen it since. My father had visited on a few occasions, as had my wife. That day marked not only the end of an era for me, but the dawning of a new beginning.
The day before, I had thrown a party for my students. The feelings were mixed, as I knew that this would be the farewell (告别) party in my classroom of 19 years and the last time I would see all of these students together. I thought back to when they were all in middle school and would visit me in my classroom on my birthday. They made it an annual tradition. I will treasure these moments for the rest of my life.
Change, like sunshine, can be a friend or a foe (敌人), a blessing or a curse, a dawn or a dusk. I’ve learned over the years in working with over 2, 000 children that looking at things from an optimistic perspective and taking the time to foster relationships with people make the world a happier and safer place. No matter what a person’s life circumstances may be, you can be the change in their life that will bring them a sense of self-worth, which will ultimately provide them with the opportunity to become who they are meant to be. They might go on to change the world.
39. Why did the author pack his things in the classroom?
A. He was doing a cleaning.
B. He would quit his job as a teacher.
C. The classroom would soon be restored.
D. His students were graduating from middle school.
40. Why are the writer’s family members mentioned in paragraph 3?
A. To explain the family’s relations with his students.
B. To demonstrate the family’s involvement in his job.
C. To list the family’s contribution to the classroom.
D. To show the family’s expectations for a new beginning.
41. What does the writer intend to convey in the last paragraph?
A. Think of the end in every beginning.
B. Change happens for better or for worse.
C. It is no good feeling attached to a place.
D. A positive attitude brings forth good changes.
42. What’s the tone of the writer in writing the article?
A. Bittersweet. B. Sad. C. Excited. D. Unconcemed.
C 40. B 41. D 42. A
根据第二段“The 22- million-dollar restoration work was only days away from starting and we were instructed that everything must go. (2200万美元的修复工作离开始只有几天了,我们接到指示,一切都必须进行)”可知,教室很快需要翻修,东西需要清理出去。故选C。
【40题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段“My parents Michael and Donna, wife Laura and newborn baby Summer had arrived that day. (那天,我的父母迈克尔和唐娜,妻子劳拉和刚出生的孩子萨默降生了。学生们听说了很多关于我女儿的事,第一次见到她都很兴奋。将近19年前,我母亲帮我整理教室,从那以后就再也没见过它。我父亲和妻子来过几次。对我来说,那一天不仅标志着一个时代的结束,而且标志着一个新开始的开始)”可推断,第三段作者提到家庭成员是为了证明家人对他工作的参与。故选B。
【41题详解】

Since the new discoveries were known to the public, the number of people visiting the Sanxingdui Museum has increased sharply.
The museum said although it was open as usual, the newly-found pits had not opened to the public yet and the newly-excavated cultural relics were still under restoration and couldn’t meet the public currently. But a hall for cultural relic conservation and restoration would be in pilot operation in April and officially opened on May 18. Visitors to it can see how the relics are restored, according to Zhu Yarong, vice director of the Sanxingdui Museum.
Dating back about 3,000 years, the Sanxingdui Ruins have shed light on the ancient Shu civilization and cultural origins of the Chinese nation, and have been regarded as one of the most important archaeological discoveries in the 20th century.

There has been growing concern about “digital dementia” — the idea that excessive (过度的) dependence on smartphones and the internet harms cognitive (认知的) abilities. However, recent research suggests that for adults over 50, these technologies may actually have the opposite effect. An overall analysis of nearly 60 studies involving 410,000 older adults found that those who frequently used smartphones, computers, and the internet were less likely to experience cognitive decline compared to those who used them less.
Jared Benge and his colleague Michael Scullin at Baylor University in Texas searched the literature for studies involving the use of digital technologies in people over 50. The team focused on daily experience of dealing with digital technologies, and excluded ones focusing on gaming or brain training. This left 57 studies, most of which were done in Europe or North America, but there were papers from all around the world, says Benge. “And the effects seem to be fairly consistent.”
Three key mechanisms (机制) that explain this effect, says Benge. First, digital activities are more cognitively engaging than passive ones like watching TV. Second, digital technology boosts social connections, for instance, video calls. Third, digital tools like GPS navigation help older adults maintain independence for longer, ensuring they don’t get lost even if their way-finding abilities decline, for example.
The main weakness is that the studies in the analysis relied on people self-reporting how much they used smartphones, computers or the internet. In the future, technologies such as screen-time monitoring could provide objective measures. Benge also points out that the people in these studies didn’t have smartphones or internet access as children. “Does this play out for digital natives? This is a snapshot (快照) that’s encouraging, but the story is not done being told.”
That said, while the results of the meta-analysis are inconclusive, they suggest that long-term technology use can be beneficial for the brain and cognition, says neuroscientist Dean Burnett. “This clearly challenges the common quick judgment that ‘technology equals bad’ in terms of brain and mental health.”
47. What is the main finding of the recent research?
A. Smartphone use leads to memory loss in seniors.
B. Internet browsing prevents all forms of dementia.
C. Regular tech use shows cognitive benefits for the elderly.
D. Video games are better than social media for brain health.
48. What was the main focus of the studies included in the research?
A. Digital habits in the elderly. B. Preferences for social media.
C. Daily use of digital technologies. D. Digital programs for brain training.
49. How might digital technology help older adults stay independent according to Benge?
A. By encouraging more self reporting. B. By giving directions and locations.
C. By discouraging social interactions. D. By doing all their daily tasks automatically.
50. What is Dean Burnett’s attitude toward the research findings?
A. Supportive. B. Doubtful. C. Indifferent. D. Critical.
C 48. C 49. B 50. A

B. Sad. C. Excited. D. Unconcemed.

The Sanxingdui Museum in Southwest China’s Sichuan Province enjoyed huge popularity during the three-day Qingming Festival holidays by receiving nearly 20,000 visitors on the peak day, after the new archaeological(考古的) discoveries brought international attention.
According to media reports, the museum saw over 15,000 visitors on Saturday, the first day of the Qingming Festival holidays, breaking its record for daily visitors. And on the next day, more visitors swarmed into the museum to exceed 19,800. To cope with the large flow of people, on Sunday afternoon, the official Weibo account of the Sanxingdui Museum released a message to remind visitors of avoiding rush hours or rescheduling their visiting time.
The Sanxingdui Museum showcases various kinds of precious cultural relics unearthed at the site, such as the 2.62-meter-tall standing statue, 1.38-meter-wide bronze mask, and 3.95-meter-high bronze tree. Earlier on March 20, Chinese archaeologists announced some new major discoveries made during the 37th excavation (挖掘) since its last excavation 35 years ago. The ruins were first discovered in the late 1920s and first excavated in 1934. More than 500 important cultural relics have been unearthed in the six newly-found pits.

D. Critical.
