第二部分:阅读理解(共两节,满分50分)

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Best Websites for Booking Cheap Flights
When it comes to booking flights, travelers may naturally head to an airline’s website. However, that’s not always the best choice. The best flight booking site can vary depending on your situation.
Google Flights
For ease, speed and features, Google Flights is arguably the best website for flight searches. Search results appear almost immediately. Filters (过滤器) let you narrow down to nonstop choices, and limit by price or factor in the price of a bag. One downside is that it doesn’t always show the cheapest prices.
Kayak
Perhaps the most important reason to use Kayak instead of Google Flights is that it can catch better deals. For example, we found a $550 round-trip flight from Los Angeles to Barcelona using Google Flights. Kayak found a way to lower that price to just $472.
Capital One Travel
If you are a Capital One cardholder, Capital One Travel might just be the best choice as you can get up to $300 off travel booked through the Capital One Travel portal each cardholder year. Also, you’ll get up to a $50 credit toward future travel if the price drops within the next 10 days.
Kiwi
Are you willing to book a trip as two separate tickets in order to save money? That’s the idea behind Kiwi. It could mean taking a bus or train from your home city to another to catch a flight to your destination. But if a delay or cancellation causes you to miss your connection, the second airline/bus/train company won’t honor your ticket.
21. What is a disadvantage of Google Flights?
A. It filters nonstop flights.
B. It may not present the cheapest choices.
C. It does not show the price of a bag.
D. It shows limited search results.
22. Which of the following offers credit card rewards?
A. Capital One Travel. B. Kayak. C. Google Flights. D. Kiwi.
23. Where is the text probably from?
A. An airline’s website. B. A finance journal.
C. A flight booking guide. D. A business magazine.
B
After graduating from high school, the three of us girls kept in touch. But as we got older, years passed without seeing each other. We changed careers, circumstances and addresses.
In the spring of 2014, after Rich and Chris spent a weekend biking trails together in Virginia, Chris suggested the three of us plan a tour. I had worried some before that first tour. How well did we know each other after all these years? Did we have as much in common as we used to? Would we have enough to talk about? We would be on trails for hours at a time for days. Some days we’d be riding in bad weather. We might get tired and cranky. What if none of these were fun?
I needn’t have worried. We have plenty to talk about. We know each other better, now, than ever. We get tired and cranky. Yes, it’s fun. On the trail we talk about friends we have in common and friends we don’t, books, movies, and music. We talk about places we’ve lived or traveled, and other places we might tour. We talk about the things we can’t let go of — things we did, or failed to do; opportunities we missed, or took; choices, good and bad. We circle back to certain conversations and revisit what we heard or said.
Moving through a changing landscape, following the rivers or the coast, seems to open us to wider, if not deeper, thinking. Having no goal other than to reach our lodging (借宿) before dark presents an unanticipated opportunity to stretch our understanding of each other and ourselves. Unhurried days in nature in the company of friends turn out to be conducive to reflection.
The pleasures that we don’t anticipate stay with us longest and get richer over time. Among these are friendships that persist despite life’s weather, or because of it.
As I write, Chris and Rich are preparing to fly to California, where we’ll ride the Monterey Peninsula and Big Sur, near my home. Already, Tour 3 is under way. In our messages we joke with one another, testing out our lines. We plan, we disagree and complain, we express enthusiasm, and we start conversations, knowing they’ll continue on the trails.
24. Why did the author ask lots of questions before the tour?
A. She wondered if they still shared the same interests.
B. She worried whether the biking trip was safe.
C. She doubted whether they prepared everything ahead.
D. She wasn’t sure if they were physically strong enough.
25. What did the author and her friends do when they toured together?
A. They recalled childhood friends vividly and repeatedly.
B. They had deep conversations about life experiences.
C. They enjoyed unhurried reflection with new friends.
D. They raced competitively along coastal landscapes.
26. How does the author feel about the upcoming Tour 3?
A. Anxious about potential disagreements.
B. Indifferent due to the familiarity of the route.
C. Excited for another opportunity to bond.
D. Hopeful because of the physical demands.
27. What does the text mainly talk about?
A. Road trips help to fix broken relationships.
B. Traveling together creates new friendships easily.
C. Biking adventures reconnect childhood companions.
D. A cycling journey deepens long-term friendships.
C
Most people walk. But that seemingly simple act is actually a series of movements, each requiring their own timing and path. Not only that, everybody has a special style of walking, and if you know someone well enough, you can probably identify him by his movements, even from far away.
A new paper published in the Journal of Nonverbal Behavior presents a technique for making assumptions about a person's entire personality based on their walk. The 29 participants first took the Big Five Inventory, a commonly used personality test helping predict patterns in a person's thought and behaviour, social skills, tendency to worry, creativity and intellect and extraversion (外向性). The researchers then recorded and analyzed the gaits (步态) of each participant.
“We found that larger relative-upper-to-lower body movement was a strong predictor of aggression,”says co-author Liam Satchell, a PhD student at the University of Portsmouth. This research mathematically explains previous research where “distinctive” gait was helpful in predicting upcoming crimes through security cameras. If police officers were trained in recognizing aggressive gaits, they might be able to prevent crimes before they happened. Satchell adds,“Possibly a further scientific exploration could reveal more evidence that the behaviors of another person can be predicted from how they move through space.
One such study has come out recently. PLOSm Computational Biology published a model to predict the probability of the path and timing of the parts of the movement shared by all people, and even the movements shared by people who have similar personality traits (特点)or are in the same moods — like people who are aggressive or bad-tempered.
Dr. Lars Lau Rakêt, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Copenhagen, says, “In our model, we can combine information from thousands of movement patterns to get precise information about the structure of the movement, which ultimately allows us to judge whether the movement of an individual differs significantly from what we would expect to see in a given situation.”
28.What did the study participants experience in the research?
A. They completed a series of physical tasks.
B. They had their personality assessed.
C. They were monitored through security cameras.
D. They were observed in various social situations.
29. According to Satchell, in what field may their research results be applied?
A. Scientific exploration.
B. Behavioral correction.
C. Personality development
D. Security service.
30. What can Dr. Lars Lau Rakêt's model assist researchers to do?
A. Recover missing information.
B. Copy human behaviors.
C. Identify unique movements.
D. Adjust undesirable personalities
31. What is the main purpose of the article?
A. To introduce the findings about a person's pace and personality.
B. To present a new model for predicting human behavior.
C. To highlight the importance of applying computer science.
D. To discuss how experiments change our perspective.
D
With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, DeepSeek, a Chinese AI company, has appeared as a pioneer in educational technology. Its latest model, DeepSeek-R1, combines advanced machine learning methods to provide personalized learning solutions for students worldwide.
Unlike traditional AI models that rely on pre-programmed answers, DeepSeek-R1 uses reinforcement (强化) learning to simulate human reasoning. This allows it to guide students through problem-solving step by step, much like a patient teacher. For example, when a student struggles with a math equation, DeepSeek-R1 doesn’t just give the answer; it breaks down the logic, identifies errors, and encourages critical thinking.
The model’s applications extend beyond academics. In language learning, it analyzes students’ pronunciation through AI speech recognition and offers real-time feedback. For teachers, DeepSeek-R1 can generate lesson plans matched with curriculum standards and even predict students’ learning difficulties based on historical data. Its “adaptive testing” feature creates customized quizzes that adjust difficulty according to individual progress.
However, challenges remain. Critics argue that over-reliance on AI might reduce human interaction in education. DeepSeek’s developers address this by emphasizing its role as a “supplement, not a replacement.” As Dr. Li, a DeepSeek researcher, stated, “Our goal is to free teachers from repetitive tasks so they can focus on inspiring creativity.”
Looking ahead, DeepSeek aims to integrate virtual reality (VR) into its platform, allowing students to explore historical events or scientific concepts in immersive 3D environments. While ethical (道德的) debates about AI in education persist, one thing is clear: tools like DeepSeek are reshaping how we learn, blending technology with human wisdom.
32. What makes DeepSeek-R1 different from traditional AI models?
A. It uses pre-programmed answers.
B. It focuses on memorization techniques.
C. It employs reinforcement learning for reasoning.
D. It replaces teachers in classrooms.
33. The underlined word “customized” in Paragraph 3 most likely means ______.
A. complicated B. outdated C. fixed D. personalized
34. What can be inferred about DeepSeek’s future plans?
A. It tends to replace teacher’s role in education.
B. It aims to enhance students’ interactive learning.
C. It will focus on solving the ethical problems.
D. It cares more about making profits than education.
35. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To discuss AI’s role in transforming education.
B. To compare different AI models.
C. To analyze the risks of using AI in schools.
D. To advertise DeepSeek products.
第二节 (共5小题:每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
People these days are posting about their lives on social media. But what if you’re a private and introverted person like me? What if you want to live in the moment instead of sharing every bit of your life? To be honest, it’s nobody’s business but your own. 36
Escape stalkers (跟踪者)
I’ve been a public person as a jazz vocalist for years. It exposed me to stalkers who felt they knew me, just because I was present everywhere. Needless to say, it brought me much anxiety and stress. At some point I asked myself — is being visible more important than my peace of mind? 37 The answer is a clear NO. I just want to spend life doing what I love with the people I love.
Protect privacy
38 I need alone time to process what I’m struggling with and honest real talks with the people I trust. I might share a lesson learned from an experience, but now I won’t. I know that by keeping my life private on social media I may miss out on some connections, but I honor and respect the people in my life who value their privacy, so I am being mindful and protect that.
39
Another reason I keep my life private is that I prefer to be in the present moment and appreciate it fully. To be on your phone constantly, or to film everything you do, can be quite disrespectful to the people you spend your time with. You lose out on those spontaneous (自发的) moments and a deeper connection. I choose what I share and when I share it, and the rest is for experiencing life without expectations.
Live your life fully, regardless of whether the world knows it or not! 40 I just want you to know it’s OK if you don’t.
A. Experience a private life.
B. Live in the moment.
C. Don’t I really care about privacy?
D. Are my followers more important than my friends and family?
E. If you feel like sharing your life openly without hesitation, go for it.
F. Here are my reasons for not sharing my personal life on social media.
G. It can be quite challenging to go through tough moments with everyone watching.

One month before Lucy Wilson’s 10th birthday, a new restaurant named “Funtime” opened in her neighborhood. Lucy and her parents went there for lunch, and they found that Funtime had a special room filled with all sorts of games and delicious food. The absolute highlight of that place was “Bubbles the Clown (小丑)”, who performed many fun tricks and created beautiful balloon animals and flowers. It filled Lucy’s fantasy and curiosity.
“Mom and Dad,” Lucy said, “I want my birthday party to be at this place. I love ‘Bubbles the Clown’.” Her direct wish was that she could enjoy the big day with friends there. “We like this place, too, Lucy. We will tell the restaurant that we want to hold your birthday party here.” Her parents agreed to her request. Lucy was excited and said, “I can’t wait until my friends come here for my birthday. I believe they will love ‘Bubbles the Clown’, too.”
Lucy went home and mailed out her party invitations. Then she crossed off the days on her calendar. She was eager for her special day. Well, the days went by quickly, and it was two days before her birthday party. Lucy was talking so excitedly about the party to her friends that she didn’t see the rock on the sidewalk ahead of her. Consequently, she tripped over the rock and cut her ankle. Her friends immediately rushed to the principal for help, who called Lucy’s parents and then called an ambulance.
Lucy was taken to the emergency room, and before long, she rested in a hospital bed. While her ankle was not broken, it was badly hurt. The doctor told Lucy that she needed to rest at home and that she could not move for about one week.
“But I will have my birthday party in two days. My friends will be there, and ‘Bubbles the Clown’ will be there, too!” Lucy cried. She couldn’t hold back her tears. Her mother comforted her, “We’ll figure something else out.”

Dear Chris,
I’m writing to share an exciting activity our class held last Friday — Plogging!
We gathered at the entrance to the park at 8:00 in the morning, equipped with gloves and trash bags. Organized by our teachers, we were divided into groups to compete to collect as much waste as possible. While jogging, we picked up litter along the paths. By the end, we’d filled multiple bags and left the park sparkling clean.
It was really a “clean” exercise and incredibly rewarding! Not only did we exercise, but we also contributed to the environment. I’ve realized how small efforts can make a big difference. Have you tried anything similar? Looking forward to hearing from you!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
读后续写
Lucy’s parents canceled the party at Funtime. Seeing Lucy’s disappointment and frustration over her injury, her parents were determined to make her 10th birthday special, even if it meant adjusting their plans. They decided to have a party at home and invited Lucy’s friends. With the help of Lucy’s friends, they transformed their living room into a joyful party space with colorful decorations and delicious food. Of course, a surprise visit from “Bubbles the Clown” was essential. Lucy was happy that day. However, she still felt disappointed about not being able to spend this special moment at Funtime. Her parents just smiled at her, expressing their love for her.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and in front of the door stood “Bubbles the Clown”. Lucy was so surprised that she could not speak. Learning that it was a surprise her parents had arranged for her, Lucy felt surrounded by love and joy. “Bubbles the Clown” performed all the tricks he did at Funtime. Then he opened a big suitcase and took out beautiful balloon animals and flowers. Lucy and her friends had really a good time. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Lucy’s 10th birthday turned out to be a day filled with surprise, happiness, and sweet memories that she would treasure for years to come.

B: When I got my first job back in 1982 and started travelling, I had no other choice but eat out. I made an effort to find good restaurants as well as nice dishes.
A: How did you manage to make a list of 218 favorite restaurants?
B: I’ve lived in many cities and when I moved back to Sweden from the United States, people asked me where to go and eat when they went to cities I knew. I got a lot of ideas. Then I wrote about restaurants for the Swedish club magazine and someone suggested I gather the information about the restaurants together since I had all the facts about the restaurants I’ve been to. I started to do that.
A: How do you find restaurants?
B: The best way is to ask the people there. I may talk to the people at the street market or take a walk and look for a place for myself. I never asked a hotel clerk or a taxi driver. I don’t go empty restaurants or places with menus too difficult to understand.

At the beginning of the tour, we’ll start with the most important place in my town, which is the Plaza Leon. The Plaza Leon, which is more than 100 years old, is a gathering place for young people on Friday and Saturday nights, and for parents and children on Sunday afternoons. Four streets lead to the Plaza, which have white sidewalks and treeline. Hernandes Street, which was named after a famous writer born in the city, contains all of the food stores, fish markets and vegetable stands. Femando Street, which was named after an educator, is where all of the government offices are housed. Via del Mar Street, whose roads are made of stones, is the only street which still has its old surface. Finally we come to Horatio Street on which there are two universities, one of them is the most famous university in my country. That’s why it’s my favorite street of all.
