Before we start our new lesson, let's have a little warm - up. I know you all have rich school lives. So, I want to ask you some questions about it. (Smiles and looks around the class) The first one: How do you go to school every day? (Points to a student) Student 1: I go to school by bike. Teacher: Great! It's a very healthy way. And you? (Points to another student) Student 2: I take the bus. Teacher: Alright. Next question, when does the first class begin in our school? (Looks at a student in the front row) Student 3: At 8:00 am. Teacher: Exactly. Now, how many lessons do we have in the morning? (Points randomly) Student 4: We have four lessons in the morning. Teacher: Correct. And what do you usually do on weekends? (Asks a student in the corner) Student 5: I usually do my homework and then play basketball with my friends. Teacher: Sounds like a wonderful weekend. These questions are all about our school life, which is also the topic of our Module 2. Today, in Unit 3, we are going to further explore the language in use related to this topic. Are you ready? Students: Yes! 二、知识回顾与呈现(约 5 分钟) Teacher: First of all, let's turn to page and look at the “Language practice” part. Please read these sentences carefully by yourselves at first. (Students start reading the sentences silently) Now, let's read them together. (Reads the sentences one by one, and students follow) “I took them myself.” “So ours is a bit bigger.” “Everyone is wearing a jacket and tie!” “Did you enjoy yourself in London?” “I went to see my friend Susie. And I visited her school.” “They don't sit in rows.” “And we also have an excellent swimming team.” “This means more people to play with.” “Each lesson lasts for an hour.” “Some people learn German instead of French.” “Who did Tony visit in London?” Teacher: While reading, did you notice something special about some of the words? Yes, the words in bold are our focus today. They are all pronouns. (Writes “Pronouns” on the blackboard) There are many kinds of pronouns in English. Let's have a look at them in detail. (Shows a table on the PPT with different types of pronouns) Personal Pronouns: We have subject forms like “I, you, she, he, it, we, they” and object forms “me, you, her, him, it, us, them”. For example, in the sentence “I took them myself.”, “I” is the subject pronoun, and “them” is the object pronoun. (Writes examples on the blackboard) Can you give me another sentence using personal pronouns? (Points to a student) Student 6: She gives me a book. Teacher: Very good! Here, “she” is the subject, and “me” is the object. Possessive Pronouns: They are divided into two types. Adjective - type possessive pronouns are “my, your, her, his, its, our, their”. They are always followed by a noun. For example, “This is my book.” And noun - type possessive pronouns are “mine, yours, hers, his, its, ours, theirs”. We use them when the noun is already clear from the context. For example, “The book is mine.” (Writes examples) Now, can you make a pair of sentences using both types of possessive pronouns? (Asks a student) Student 7: This is our classroom. The classroom is ours. Teacher: Perfect! You really understand it. Reflexive Pronouns: “myself, yourself, herself, himself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves”. We use them when the subject and the object of a verb refer to the same person or thing. In the sentence “Did you enjoy yourself in London?”, “yourself” is a reflexive pronoun. (Writes an example) Can you think of a sentence with a reflexive pronoun? (Points to a student) Student 8: I taught myself to play the guitar. Teacher: Well done! Indefinite Pronouns: Words like “some, any, both, either, neither, all, none, each, every, many, much, few, a few, little, a little, other, another, one, nobody, somebody, anybody, everyone, everything, something, anything, nothing”. For example, “Some people learn German instead of French.” Here, “some” is an indefinite pronoun. (Writes an example) Now, let's practice a little. I'll give you a sentence, and you tell me which type of pronoun the underlined word is. “Each student has a book.” (Points to a student) Student 9: “Each” is an indefinite pronoun. Teacher: Correct! 三、代词练习巩固(约 10 分钟) Teacher: Now, let's do some exercises to strengthen our understanding of pronouns. Please look at Activity 1 on page [X]. Underline the correct words in the dialogue. (Students start doing the exercise. The teacher walks around the classroom, observing and giving help if needed) (After a few minutes) Teacher: Let's check the answers together. (Goes through the answers one by one) For “I got good marks in (1) both/ each maths and geography.”, which one is correct? Students: both Teacher: Right. “Both” is used when referring to two things together. “Each” is more about individual things in a group. “Anna: I did really well in English. That’s (2) anything/ something I’ve always enjoyed.” Students: something Teacher: Exactly. “Something” is used in positive statements, while “anything” is usually used in negative and interrogative sentences. “My marks in history and art weren’t so good because (3) none/ neither is my favourite subject.” Students: neither Teacher: Correct. “Neither” is for two things, meaning not this one and not the other. “None” is for three or more things. “Bob: I’ve still got (4) a few/ few days before I have to decide.” Students: a few Teacher: Right. “A few” means a small number, but it's positive. “Few” means almost none, which is negative. “I’m going to speak to (5) both/ all my teachers and ask for their advice.” Students: all Teacher: Good. “All” is used when referring to three or more people or things, and “both” is for two. “Anna: The teachers say that we must decide for (6) themselves/ ourselves and that (7) none/ neither of them can tell us what to do.” Students: ourselves; none Teacher: Perfect. “Ourselves” is the correct reflexive pronoun here as the subject is “we”. And “none” is used because it refers to all the teachers, more than two. “Bob: But I have to get (8) some/ any information because there are so (9) much/ many subjects and it’s very hard to choose.” Students: some; many Teacher: Well - done. “Some” is used in this positive statement. And “many” is for countable nouns like “subjects”, while “much” is for uncountable nouns. 四、介词知识讲解(约5分钟) Teacher: After pronouns, let's move on to prepositions. Prepositions are very important in English. They show relationships between things. (Writes “Prepositions” on the blackboard) Look at some sentences we've read before. “We go to school every weekday from 8:45 am to 3:15 pm.” Here, “from... to...” is a prepositional phrase showing a time range. Another example, “We have a large sports ground for football and tennis, where we can play both during and after school hours.” “For” shows the purpose, and “during” and “after” show time. (Writes examples on the blackboard) There are many common prepositions. (Shows a list on the PPT) Prepositions of Time: “at, in, on”. We use “at” for specific times, like “at 8 o'clock”. “In” is used for longer periods, such as “in the morning”, “in May”, “in 2024”. “On” is for specific days and dates, like “on Monday”, “on May 1st”. (Writes examples) Can you give me some sentences using these prepositions of time? (Points to a student) Student 10: I get up at 7:30 am. I have a party in December. My birthday is on July 10th. Teacher: Excellent! Prepositions of Place: “in, on, at”. “In” is used when something is inside a place, like “in the classroom”. “On” is used when something is on the surface of something else, “on the table”. “At” is used for a specific point or small place, “at the bus stop”. (Writes examples) Now, you make sentences. (Asks a student) Student 11: The book is in the bag. The cup is on the desk. I wait for my friend at the school gate. Teacher: Well - said! Other Common Prepositions: “for, with, by, about, etc.” “For” can show purpose, “I buy a gift for my mother.” “With” can mean accompanied by, “I go to the park with my parents.” “By” can show the means of transportation, “I go to school by bike.” “About” is often used to talk about a topic, “We talk about our dreams.” (Writes examples) Can you give me sentences with these prepositions? (Points to a student) Student 12: I study hard for good grades. I play basketball with my classmates. I go to Beijing by train. We have a discussion about environment protection. Teacher: Very good! You've got a good understanding of prepositions. 五、介词练习巩固(约 5分钟) Teacher: Now, it's time for some preposition exercises. Please complete the passage with the correct prepositions in the box. (Shows a passage on the PPT with blanks and a box of prepositions. Students start doing the exercise. The teacher walks around to help) (After a few minutes) Teacher: Let's check the answers. (Goes through the passage, filling in the blanks and explaining the reasons) “I often get up (1) at 6:30 in the morning.” We use “at” for the specific time of 6:30. “Then I have breakfast (2) with my family.” “With” here means accompanied by. “I go to school (3) by bike.” “By” shows the means of transportation. “(4) In the morning, we have four lessons.” “In” is used for the period of the morning. “We have a break (5) between classes.” “Between” is used to show the time or space between two things, here between classes. 六、综合练习与互动(约 10 分钟) Teacher: Great job on the individual exercises. Now, let's do a more comprehensive task. I'll divide you into pairs. Each pair will get a set of cards. On one card, there is a sentence with a blank, and on the other card, there are several options (pronouns or prepositions) to fill in the blank. You need to work together to choose the correct answer and explain why it is correct. (Divides the students into pairs and distributes the cards) (Students start working in pairs. The teacher moves around, listening to their discussions and giving guidance) (After a while) Teacher: Okay, let's invite some pairs to come to the front and share their answers. (Invites a pair to the front) Pair 1: The sentence on our card is “I want to buy a present ____ my friend.” And the options are “for, to, with”. We choose “for” because “buy sth. for sb.” is a common phrase, meaning to purchase something for someone. Teacher: Very good explanation. Is their answer correct, class? Students: Yes! Teacher: Great. Let's invite another pair. (Invites another pair) 七、课堂总结(约 5 分钟) Teacher: Today, we have reviewed and learned a lot about pronouns and prepositions. Pronouns help us avoid repeating nouns and make our language more concise, while prepositions show relationships between different elements in a sentence. (Summarizes the key points on the blackboard) Remember to practice using them in your daily English speaking and writing. They are very useful in expressing ourselves accurately. And next class, we will continue to explore more language knowledge related to our school life. So, keep up the good work! ( 第 1 页 共 1 页 ) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
