根据文章第一段“while I had a gym membership card, working out basically consisted of
walking on the treadmill (跑步机) for fifteen minutes, pretending to know what I was doing with a few of the machines
and weights for another fifteen minutes, and then making my escape”可知,作者虽有健身卡,但锻炼时只是在跑步机
根据文章第二段“This changed when life challenges forced me to seek exercise for stress
relief. Recognizing my need for accountability, I joined a gym run by Adria”可知,作者是因为生活挑战带来压力,为
故选 A。
根据文章第四段“Anna, I wish you would get certified (持证的) because you are the only one
I’d trust with the keys”以及第五段“However, I couldn’t get her words out of my head. Weeks later, I secretly signed up
for a fitness instructor course.”
围绕作者健身态度的变化展开,所以 D选项“A Change in My Fitness Attitude”(我健身态度的转变)最适合作为

根据前文“looking at the impact of overwork on specific brain regions in health workers who
regularly clocked up a 52-hour week or more”可知研究关注的是过度工作的影响,再结合“while 78 worked standard
根据文章第六段“These findings provide novel brain-related evidence linking excessive
working hours to structural brain changes, stressing the need for further research to understand the long-term cognitive
and emotional implications of overwork.”
根据文章最后一段“Ruth Wilkinson... said: ‘The results underline the importance of
addressing overwork as a health concern and highlight the need for workplace policies that reduce excessive working
hours.’”
故选 A。

根据文章第三段“But we have limited evidence of how early humans used marine (海洋的)
resources because the sea level has risen by around 120 meters since the Late Palaeolithic in Europe”可知,自欧洲旧石
根据文章第四段“These tools, which were classified as whale bone, were mostly projectile
points and spear shafts used for hunting.”
故选 A。
根据文章第五段“The team took tiny parts from each bone to analyse the
chemical makeup of the collagen proteins This uncovered that only 71 tools were made from cetacean (鲸类)
bones, of which 66 were definitely whales. About half of these were made from sperm whale bone, while the others were
carved from fin, grey, blue and right or bowhead whale bones.”
根据文章最后一段“Pétillon was surprised that these tools weren’t evenly spread through
time, with most being from 16,000 to 17,500 years ago. ‘It’s a kind of fashion effect,’ he says. ‘What we have is a few
objects in the beginning and then a kind of boom and stop.’”
very realistic.”(那不太现实),这里的“that” 指代上文“quit cold turkey and completely disconnect from everything”
B 选项 “写下这些负面感受” 与前文 “figure out the issues” 呼应,且 “these negative feelings” 指代前文提到的具
体问题,后文 “link them to your screen time” 中的 “them” 也衔接此处的 “写下的内容”,所以选 B。
38. F【解析】该段主题是“Decide on a goal”(确定目标),前文举例说明了具体目标,F选项“Use the problems you
项 “Your attachment to devices and their role in your life matter.”(你对设备的依赖程度以及它们在你生活中的作用
enjoyable and keeps you going.”(这会让这个过程更愉快,并让你坚持下去),“This”指代前文反思和奖励的行为,
41-45 BABCA 46-50 DCBCA 51-55 ADBCD

41. B 【解析】根据前文“I had a strong desire to be the top student in my class”,作者渴望成为班级尖子生,结合
“ 41 late into the night, skipped breaks, and even meals—just to get ahead”
45. A【解析】根据后文“focusing only on finishing it quickly”可知,作者只专注于快速完成项目,说明作者在做项
A选项“put up with”
(忍受)、B选项“make use of”(利用)、C选项“give up on”(放弃)均不符合文意,D选项“pay attention to”(注

is the largest ethnic Yi minority area in China”是非限制性定语从句,用来修饰先行词。
故填 which。
“be associated with”是固定短语,意为“与……
填 with。
“have the ability to do sth”是固定结构,意为“有做某事的能力”。
故填 to drive。
故填 a。
主语 the folk custom是单数,所以 be动词用 was,list 的过
故填 was listed。

One possible version:
To my annoyance, Anna was placed in my group. I sighed quietly, expecting her to stay silent or contribute nothing.
But when we started brainstorming, she quietly said, “What if it’s about a girl who finds a secret garden… where time
moves backward?” Her words painted pictures in my mind. The whole group fell silent, hanging onto her ideas. Anna
wrote most of the script, made props out of cardboard and colored paper, and stayed late to help us rehearse. I started to
see her differently. She wasn’t trying to take anything from me—she was just trying to find a place to belong.
On the day of the performance, we stepped onto the stage nervously, but the play went beautifully. Everyone
remembered their lines, and the audience laughed and clapped at just the right moments. Anna, quiet as ever, performed
with such quiet confidence that even I was impressed. After the show, as we walked off stage, I turned to her and said,
“You were really amazing.” She looked surprised, then smiled. “Thanks. You too.” It wasn’t much, but from that moment,
things felt different between us. We started talking more—and slowly, we became friends.

Text 1
W: Frank, let’s go to the gym after work.
M: Oh, I almost pulled my muscle last time I did weight training. Let me off the hook today! I just want to rest at home.
W: Then I’ll go alone.
Text 2
M: I think John will win the 1,500-meter race this time.
W: The race has just begun, David. I think the title race is still wide open. I’m more optimistic about Owen. After all, he
has won the championship 3 years in a row.
Text 3
M: My favorite actress left show business twenty years ago. I can only watch her old movies over and over again.
W: What a shame! I’m glad my favorite actress appears in about two TV series each year.
Text 4
M: Are you going out, Mom? Could you please post this letter for me?
W: Why don’t you send an email? You can do it with your computer or phone.
M: I want to send a handmade birthday card to my pen pal.
Text 5
W:What happened this morning? I saw Lucy storm into your office waving a design drawing.
M: Her design was rejected by the client again. It was the fourth time.
W: Oh, poor Lucy.
M: Yes, but no cross, no crown.
Text 6
M: What do you think of my essay, Amanda?
W: Our teacher will definitely be surprised by what you write about.
M: You mean it’s ready to hand in then?
W: Hmm… If I were you, I’d change the way it’s written. You’ve included plenty of information about the topic and
some good examples to support what you’re saying, but it’s written a bit like a list. You need to see if you can get it to
flow, so it will be more natural.
M: I’ll try.
Text 7
W: I joined the new tai chi club. Have you ever tried tai chi, Mike?
M: No. Isn’t it a slow martial art for the aged?
W: It is slow, but it’s suitable for people of almost all ages. It can help reduce stress. The movements are kind of like
dance steps.
M: Is it difficult to learn?
W: I don’t think so, but you never know till you try. It’s a wonderful way to stay active and find some inner peace.
M: Well, can I join the club now?
W: Of course.
Text 8
M: Anne, I had a fantastic experience at the Rio Carnival in Brazil last month.
W: Oh, it’s better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books.

M: Yes. I got there just in time. People from Rio usually take a week off for that happy occasion.
W: Tell me more about it!
M: Okay. It was a huge celebration. There were Brazilian dancers in costumes, a band playing lively samba beats and
other people carrying colorful flags, waving in the wind.
W: Did you get a flag?
M: Absolutely! The whole street was filled with excitement.
W: And what about the surroundings?
M: The narrow streets were lined with iceboxes of soft drinks and beer. The smell of roasted meat filled the air as we
passed by street stands.
W: That sounds like a real party!
M: Yep! I got so caught up in the festival that I didn’t even notice five hours had passed.
Text 9
W:When did you get this cute dog, Alex?
M: I saved him on Mori Avenue last month.
W: I’d love to hear the whole story!
M: I saw this little dog under a street lamp when I was walking home after finishing my dinner. He looked so scared and
hungry. So I fed him some food.
W: That’s so kind of you. What happened next?
M: He cautiously came closer. I could see he had a collar, so I assumed he might have been lost. I checked the tag, but
there was nothing on it. Then I took him to a pet hospital. The doctor gave me a clean bill of health about the dog, but
mentioned he needed proper care and attention as he was extremely scared at the time.
W: Then you decided to keep him?
M: Yes. I couldn’t bear the thought of leaving him alone. I named him “Mori” because we first met on Mori Avenue. I’ve
never kept a dog before, so I still have much to learn about caring for a dog.
W: That’s an amazing story, Alex. Luckily, now he’s happy and energetic. Oh, he’s biting his tail in a circle.
M: I guess he wants to play in the back garden. Would you mind chatting with me there? I planted many roses there.
W: Certainly not! Let’s go.
Text 10
M: At least 100 elephants have died in Zimbabwe’s largest national park, Hwange National Park. Experts from the
International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) said the elephants died due to a lack of water. The national park is home
to around 45,000 elephants, as well as more than 100 other types of mammals and 400 bird species. It has 104
solar-powered boreholes to maintain sources of water for animals. However, park authorities say there’s not enough due
to extreme temperatures. The existing waterholes are drying up, forcing wildlife to walk long distances searching for
food and water. The deaths of the elephants are a sign of the impact of climate change and the El Nino weather
phenomenon, according to wildlife authorities and conservation groups. They fear a repeat of 2019, another El Nino year,
when more than 200 elephants in Hwange died in a severe drought. “This phenomenon is recurring,” said Phillip
Kuvawoga, a landscape program director at IFAW. “Our region has significantly less rainfall, so the dry spell could
return soon because of El Nino,” said Trevor Lane, director of the Bhejane Trust, a conservation group. Zimbabwe’s
rainy season usually started in October and ran through to March. However, in recent years, it has become hard to guess
when the rainy season will begin. This year’s El Nino has already caused below-average rainfall across Southern Africa
including Zimbabwe, and brought deadly floods to East Africa.
