(松原期中改编)On New Year's Day,my family
decided to climb Mount Songshan. We hoped it could
bring good luck to us for the whole year. It was cloudy
in the morning. My grandparents, my parents and I
had some dumplings for breakfast and then drove to
Mount Songshan. At nine, we arrived at the foot of
Mount Songshan and began to climb the mountain. We
chose a road that visitors hardly took because we
thought it would be fun. After two hours we found that
the road conditions(路况)were getting worse. At half
past twelve,we got to the top of the mountain. But it
began to snow! All of us were cold and hungry. Soon
we got to a small restaurant. It only sold instant
noodles(方便面). One bowl of noodles was ten yuan
and we had to pay for the hot water! Each of us had a
bowl of noodles and gained some strength. There were
no cable cars, so we had to walk down the mountain.
Four hours later, we finally got to the foot of the
mountain. What an unusual day!

(黄石期末)When these Londoners sent their
neighbours a letter requesting that they keep the noise
down in the mornings, they weren't expecting such a
sweet reply!Martina Panchetti, an Italian woman
living in England, shared the cutest video on social
media. In it,she showed her followers the message she
received in response to her mild complaint. It was too
cute!
“We sent a letter to our neighbours politely asking
to make less noise and possibly avoid playing the piano
too early in the morning,"said Martina in her video.
“This is how they replied.”
She continued to show some pictures of the
apology letter her neighbours replied with. First of all,
Martina held up the envelope to show that it was
decorated with a really cute planet Earth sticker.
Then, she opened it up to tell the contents. It turns out
that the neighbour family's small kids actually wrote the
note!
“Dear neighbours,"the letter read.“Thank you
for your kind message. We realize that sometimes we
can be noisy and naughty. We started learning piano
and our teachers tell us to practise every day. But we
sincerely apologize not considering the time of day and

the weekends.”The kids also admitted to refusing their
mother, who had been asking them not to play the
piano at those times.“We promise you and we promise
our mommy to try to be more considerate," they
added.
However, this lovely letter wasn't the only apology
these thoughtful neighbours sent over. They also
included some treats from their country! Martina was
truly touched.
“On our way to cook some Italian sweets for

What is Space Tourism?
(北京期中)Space tourism is space travel for
leisure purposes. What was once only a dream—
described in books such as Arthur C. Clarke's 2001:A
Space dyssey—is now becoming a reality.
Futurists are scientists who try to predict what life
will be like in the future. After the first man landed on
the moon in 1969, they hought that hotels would be
built on the moon by the year 2000. Futurists also
predict that, in the 21st century, families might go for
a holiday on the moon. These predictions haven't come
true—but the development of technology may give a
chance of these predictions coming true in future.
Space Adventures is the only company to send
people into space now. Space Adventures worked with
the Federal Space Agency of the Russian Federation
and Rocket and Space Corporation Energia to offer
chances for the world's first personal space explorers.
Each person paid over $20 million for their 10-day trip
to the International Space Station.
Following several successful trips into space, more
companies are now thinking about sending tourists into
space. In order to make it cheaper, suborbital(亚轨道
的)space travel is a choice for many companies,
including Virgin Galactic. Explorers would go to a
height of between 100 and 160 km above earth,
experience 3-6 minutes of weightlessness(失重状态)
and enjoy beautiful stars, then come back down to
earth. This costs about $200,000 each person.
It could be an excellent experience, but there are
some problems with space tourism. Many people
believe that it could make global warming worse and it
is not good for the ozone layer(臭氧层). What's
more, space travel is only really for the rich people.
There are still millions of people in the world who
couldn't pay for it.
