One possible version:
A Special Object in My Home
Every home has something special that holds memories. In my house, there is an old wooden radio. It is about 20 cm long and dark brown. My grandpa has kept it since he was 18 years old, but now it sits on my desk.
When I was in Grade 7, I failed a math test and felt quite sad. I looked at the radio and turned it on. Suddenly, an old song started playing softly. It felt like my grandpa was right beside me, so I picked up my math book and studied harder.
To protect this special radio, I will keep it in a dry and safe place. Then, cleaning it often is also a good way to keep it. Most importantly, I will share its stories with my younger family members to keep memories alive. This radio isn’t just a machine—it carries my grandpa’s love.

When I was twelve, we moved to a new house. I didn’t like it. The
rooms felt cold. But we brought one thing from our old home —
Grandma’s clock. It was brown, full of scratches (划痕), and made a
loud “tick-tock” sound.
Grandma once said, “This clock isn’t just for time. It holds our
family’s stories.” Every scratch had a memory. The deepest scratch? My
dad made it when he was a boy. He tried to fix the clock with a metal
stick (铁棍). The numbers at the bottom (底部)? My mom spilled (溢出)
hot soup there on the day I was born.
One cold night, the clock stopped. The “tick-tock” sound I always
heard was gone. I saw Dad sitting quietly in front of it. His eyes were wet. “Grandma died ten
years ago today,” he said softly. Then I realized—the clock wasn’t just wood and glass. It was
Dad’s childhood, mom’s happy days, and all our time together.
We tried to fix it as a family. Mom held the tools, Dad opened the clock, and I cleaned the
dirty glass. Suddenly, Dad laughed. “Look! Your baby tooth is here!” He pointed at a small
white thing inside the clock. We laughed until tears came when we looked at it. That night, the
clock started working again. Its “tick-tock” sounded even louder.
Now, when friends visit, they say, “Your home feels so warm!” They don’t see new things.
They hear the clock’s sound, like a heartbeat (心跳) that ties our past to now.
Home isn’t about perfect walls or quiet rooms. It’s about keeping what you love—even if
it’s an old clock that tells your family’s story.
59. What caused the deepest scratch on the clock?
A. Mom spilled hot soup. B. The baby tooth fell inside.
C. Grandma cleaned it too hard. D. Dad tried to fix it with a metal stick.

①Dad cried ②The clock broke. ③The family found a baby tooth.
④The clock’s sound became louder. ⑤The family fixed the clock together.
A.①②⑤③④ B.②①⑤③④ C.⑤①②③④ D.②①④③⑤
61. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. The clock. B. The dirty glass. C. The tool. D. The baby tooth.
62. What would be the best structure of the passage?

Our planet has many amazing places, and one of them is
Vinicunca in Peru. Known as the Rainbow Mountain, it is
famous for its bright lines of red, yellow, green, and purple. It is
part of the Andes Mountains (安第斯山脉), the longest mountain
chain (山脉) on earth. At 5,200 meters tall, it is even taller than
other famous mountains. Did you know the Andes grow about 1
centimeter higher every year? Visitors say Rainbow Mountain
feels like stepping into a magical world!
The colorful lines come from different rocks under the ground. For example, iron (铁) in
the rocks turns red when it meets air, and a yellow material called sulfur (硫磺 ) makes the
bright yellow lines. Over thousands of years, wind and rain slowly washed away dirt and ice,
showing these colorful parts. Scientists say it’s like nature is an artist! The colors also change
with the weather—they look bright in sunlight and softer on cloudy days.
Before 2015, Rainbow Mountain was covered in ice. When the ice turned into water
because of warmer weather, the colors became perceptible. Now, many travelers visit it every
year. But too many people walking here can harm the mountain. To protect it, local villagers
control the number of visitors and ask everyone to follow simple rules, like taking rubbish
home.
Rainbow Mountain reminds us that earth’s wonders are both beautiful and easily harmed.
Saving these places helps plants, animals, and people who live close by. Everyone can help! If
we treat nature kindly, we protect the mountain. Helping local guides means villagers can
protect their home better, and telling friends about Rainbow Mountain teaches others to care
too. Even small steps today can keep this colorful wonder safe for tomorrow.
64. What can we know about the Rainbow Mountain?
A. It has three bright colorful lines.
B. It is the highest mountain chain on earth.
C. It becomes about 1 centimeter lower each year.
D. It is part of the Andes and over 5,000 meters tall.
65. What’s the main idea of Paragraph 2?
A. The reasons for Rainbow Mountain’s colors.
B. Which colors look bright in different weather.
C. The importance of protecting Rainbow Mountain.
D. How scientists study the rocks on Rainbow Mountain.
66. What does the underlined word “perceptible” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Natural. B. Disappearing. C. Noticeable. D. Dark.
67. What’s the main theme of the passage?
A. Science. B. Nature. C. Travel. D. Culture.
68. What’s the writer’s purpose of writing the passage?
A. To explain how weather harms mountains.
B. To describe the reasons for rock colors in nature.
C. To encourage people to visit Rainbow Mountain.
D. To introduce a natural place and call for its protection.

Moxibustion (艾灸 ) is a special Chinese treatment using mugwort
(艾草 ). It is part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is famous
worldwide. My mother is a TCM doctor. When I feel sick, she uses a
wooden box with burning mugwort sticks (艾条) inside. 69 I
feel much more comfortable after that.
Mugwort is a bitter plant with a strong smell. In China, people hang
it on doors to keep insects (昆虫 ) away and stay healthy. 70
Mugwort helps remove moisture (湿气) and cold from the body, making you feel better.
71 Some doctors place mugwort on ginger (姜) and put it on the body. Others
put small pieces of mugwort on needles (针) and gently press them into the skin (皮肤). Some
burn the mugwort stick near the back. All these can help people feel healthier.
TCM believes our bodies have two forces: yin and yang. Too much yang can make you
feel hot or sore. Too much yin can cause colds or tiredness. 72
Balance is key in TCM and in life. 73 By doing this, we and nature can both
stay healthy and strong.

was very excited to see all the colorful kites in the sky and asked his
father to buy him one. To make him happy, the father went to a shop
at the park and bought one.
The son started flying his kite excitedly. Soon it reached high up in

string (绳子) is stopping the kite from flying higher. If I break it, the
kite will be free to fly even higher.” So he asked his father for a small knife and cut the string.
Without the string, the kite did go a little bit higher. However, it soon started to come down
and fell on a tall tree. The son was sad. He expected that the kite would fly higher after he cut
the string, not fall down. He turned to his father for an explanation.
“Well, the string wasn’t holding the kite down, it was actually helping it stay up when the
wind was quiet and guiding it in the right direction (方向 ) when the wind picked up,” the
father explained. “When we cut the string, the kite lost that support (支持 ) and fell down.
Similarly, in life, limits (限制) such as school rules may seem strict, but they protect us and
