The connection between the 37-year-old actor and Peking Opera began with a childhood love for films starring Jackie Chan, who studied Peking Opera when he was young. Pilotti decided to become an actor at an early age, studying at acting schools and majoring in physical theater at a Finnish university. The university required students to study a traditional theater from abroad on an exchange program during the third year, which became his first opportunity to study Peking Opera in China. “Some of my classmates went to India, for example, but my dream was to go to China — it was a no-brainer,” he says. In 2009, he and two other students arrived at the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts in Beijing to study Peking Opera for six months. Although he had no Chinese language skills or background in Peking Opera, teachers from the academy helped him grasp the essence (精髓) of the performing art form through strict teaching and setting high standards. In 2010 and 2014, he returned to the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts to continue studying Peking Opera, which he later combined with his original productions in Sweden. Traditional Chinese stories inspire him. He has created two theater pieces in recent years—Jingwei, a mythological(神话的) character who drowns and turns into a bird, determined to fill the sea; and a story about The Monkey King, the all-powerful character from the novel Journey to the West. In The Monkey King, Pilotti represents the character’s lively and naughty characteristics through Peking Opera movements, inspiring his young audience members to be themselves. The show of The Monkey King has been really successful. “My dream now is to do more cultural exchanges and maybe create a show where Chinese Peking Opera and Swedish actors perform together,” he says. 4. What led Pilotti to get interested in Peking Opera? A. His love for Jackie Chan’s films. B. His passion for traditional Chinese stories. C. His dream of becoming an actor. D. His university’s requirement for students. 5. What does the underlined phrase “a no-brainer” in paragraph 2 probably mean? A. A difficult decision. B. An obvious choice. C. A risky opinion. D. A last-minute plan. 6. How did Pilotti combine Peking Opera with his work in Sweden? A. By translating Chinese operas into Swedish. B. By teaching Peking Opera to Swedish students. C. By performing only traditional Chinese stories. D. By adding Peking Opera movements to his theater pieces. 7. What is Pilotti’s attitude towards cultural exchanges between China and Sweden? A. Indifferent. B. Positive. C. Doubtful. D. Neutral. C When you read news online, websites don’t care about sharing information — they want to make money from you. Every time you click a link, even before the page loads, your personal details are sold to advertisers in quick online sales. This happens so fast that you don’t even notice it happening. Years ago, everyone saw the same ads on a webpage. Now, a big system uses tracking tools like Cookies and Scripts to collect your data. They track what you search for, where you live, and even what you talk about. Then, they use this information to create ads just for you. For example, if you look at shoes online, those ads will follow you to other sites for weeks. This makes people worry about privacy — like someone watching your shopping habits! But even if you don’t mind, this technology still causes problems. Ads use so much energy that your phone battery dies faster, and pages take longer to open. Why are ads getting so annoying? Companies like Google and Facebook want to make more money. They’re developing new ways to follow you, like using your phone’s camera microphone. Imagine taking a photo of a book, and then seeing ads for that book everywhere! New privacy rules in Europe and California could slow this down, but websites will find secret ways to collect data. They might ask you to “accept Cookies” to use the site, but few people read the long, confusing messages. To avoid bad experiences, read news on reliable apps. These apps block most ads and trackers, making reading faster and easier. But it’s not the apps that kill news websites — it’s the ad technology that runs your experience. News companies need ads to survive, but today’s ads harm both readers and publishers. If nothing changes, more people will stop trusting online news, and quality journalism could disappear. 8. What can we learn from the first paragraph? A. Ads appear immediately after page loads. B. Personal data sales escape people’s attention. C. Websites highly value users’ privacy. D. Information sharing is the goal of websites. 9. Which is a new way of data collection according to the passage? A. Creating new websites. B. Analyzing shopping methods. C. Hiding Cookies’ information. D. Using phones’ microphones. 10. What may happen if the online ads remain unchanged? A. Loss of online trust. B. Disappearance of ads. C. Increase of news reading. D. Improvement of journalism. 11. What is the purpose of the article? A. To promote the use of reliable apps. B. To explain how to create effective online ads. C. To warm about the negative effects of ad technology. D. To encourage users to share more personal data. D On the slopes of a volcano in central Mexico, biologist Cuauhtémoc Sáenz-Romero and his team imaged a climate shelter for oyamel fir trees (南美洲冷杉) and the monarch butterflies that depend on them. In 2021, the researchers walked up the mountain to plant seedlings in freezing cold temperatures. “We’re doing something different. If we don’t do this, the trees in the monarch reserve are going to die,” says Sáenz-Romero, a researcher at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo in Michoacán, also home to the reserve. By 2090, the reserve’s forest habitats, located around 11,000 feet, are expected to become worse, as temperatures warm. Using a technique called assisted migration, researchers might be able to move these trees to the nearby volcano. It also helps the forest move more quickly than it would do so naturally. “You collect seeds from a place with a specific climate, like the monarch reserve, and move them to an area that will have a similar climate in the future,” explains Sáenz-Romero. The experiment began in 2017, when Sáenz-Romero and his team gathered seeds from oyamel fir trees in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve at various altitudes. In 2023, six years after planting the seeds, they found that at two of those heights, 11,800 and 12,400 feet, nearly 70 percent of the seedlings had survived even at the higher altitude. “These types of experiments are extremely important,” say Sally Aitken, a professor in Forest and Conservation Sciences at the University of British Columbia, who wasn’t involved in the study. “However, assisted migration outside of a tree’s normal range comes with concerns,” Aitken says. Oyamel firs don’t normally grow at this height on Nevado de Toluca’s slopes. Moving a species could have unforeseen environmental impacts on other species present in that ecosystem. “There’s uncertainty around these field tests,” she explains, “but they’re crucial to better understand whether assisted migration could realistically save forest ecosystems.” 12. What will happen to the reserve’s forest habitats by 2090? A. They will become colder. B. They will expand to higher altitudes. C. They will decline due to rising temperatures. D. They will be taken over by other tree species. 13. Why do researchers use assisted migration for oyamel fir trees? A. To make trees grow taller. B. To attract more monarch butterflies. C. To reduce the number of seeds collected. D. To speed up the movement of the forest. 14. What does Sally Aitken think of assisted migration? A. It is supposed to be widely applied. B. It has no local ecosystem impact. C. It works but harms local ecosystems. D. It has risks but is vital for research. 15 Which is the best title for the passage? A. Saving Oyamel Fir Trees B. The Survival of Oyamel Firs C. Protecting Monarch Butterflies D. The New Method of Tree-planting Keep Your Head Up: Responding to Your Deskmate’s Academic Edge In high school, it’s common to feel a bit down when your deskmate seems to be outperforming you. ____16____. It all began when I gathered the courage to tell him my decision to quit the school basketball team. I found it hard to deal with lots of schoolwork, endless tasks, and the physically-demanding daily training sessions. The pressure was too heavy, and I felt like I was about to break down. However, my father couldn’t see things from my point of view. In his eyes, the basketball team was a golden opportunity for me to build my strength, character, and teamwork skills. He thought I was being a quitter, giving up easily just because of a little hardship. Our voices rose higher and higher as we tried to defend our own views. Words that were better left unsaid were thrown back and forth. In the heat of the moment, I even accused him of not caring about my feelings. In the end, I lost my temper, stormed out of the house, and shut the door behind me heavily, leaving my father standing there in a state of shock. That night, I turned in my bed, the argument replaying in my mind like a broken record. I stared at the ceiling, the moonlight streaming in through the curtains, casting a dim (昏暗的) light in the room. I kept thinking about the disappointed look on my father’s face. I knew he had high hopes for me, always dreaming that I could achieve great things. But at that moment, I just couldn’t take the pressure anymore. I felt so confused and sad, not knowing how to bridge the gap that had suddenly opened between us. I regretted my hasty (草率的) words and wondered if our relationship could ever be the same again. The next morning, I decided to write a letter to my father. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When I returned home that evening, I found my father waiting for me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 秘密★启封并使用完毕前【考试时间:2025年7月4日上午8:15-10:15】 南充市2024-2025学年度下期普通高中一年级学业质量监测 英语试题 本试卷分为试题卷和各题卡两部分,其中试题卷共12页,答题卡共2页。 How much is the shirt? A His love for Jackie Chan’s films. B. Positive. C. Doubtful. D. Neutral. A 5. B 6. D 7. 根据第一段中的“The connection between the 37-year-old actor and Peking Opera began with a childhood love for films starring Jackie Chan, who studied Peking Opera when he was young.(这位37岁的演员与京剧的联系始于童年时对成龙主演电影的热爱,成龙年轻时曾学习京剧。)” 故选A项。 根据第二段中的“The university required students to study a traditional theater from abroad on an exchange program during the third year, which became his first opportunity to study Peking Opera in China.(这所大学要求学生在大三的交换项目中学习一种国外的传统戏剧,而这成了他第一个在中国学习京剧的机会。)”可知,这是他第一个在中国学习京剧的机会,结合划线部分所在的句子“Some of my classmates went to India, for example, but my dream was to go to China — it was a no-brainer,” he says.(他说:“例如,我的一些同学去了印度,但我的梦想是去中国——这是……。”)” 根据第四段中的“In The Monkey King, Pilotti represents the character’s lively and naughty characteristics through Peking Opera movements, inspiring his young audience members to be themselves.(在《美猴王》中,Pilotti通过京剧动作展现了角色活泼调皮的特点,鼓励年轻观众做自己。)” 根据最后一段中的“My dream now is to do more cultural exchanges and maybe create a show where Chinese Peking Opera and Swedish actors perform together,” he says.(他说:“我现在的梦想是进行更多的文化交流,或许可以创作一个中国京剧和瑞典演员共同表演的节目。”)” C When you read news online, websites don’t care about sharing information — they want to make money from you. D Information sharing is the goal of websites. 9. Which is a new way of data collection according to the passage? A. Creating new websites. B. Analyzing shopping methods. C. Hiding Cookies’ information. D. Using phones’ microphones. 10. What may happen if the online ads remain unchanged? A. Loss of online trust. B. Disappearance of ads. C. Increase of news reading. D. Improvement of journalism. 11. What is the purpose of the article? A. To promote the use of reliable apps. B. To explain how to create effective online ads. C. To warm about the negative effects of ad technology. D. To encourage users to share more personal data. B 9. D 10. A 11. 根据首段中的“your personal details are sold to advertisers in quick online sales. This happens so fast that you don’t even notice it happening.(您的个人资料会被迅速出售给在线销售平台的广告商。 根据第三段中的“They’re developing new ways to follow you, like using your phone’s camera microphone.(他们正在探索新的追踪方式,比如利用你的手机摄像头和麦克风)”可知,利用手机摄像头和麦克风是一种收集个人信息的方式。 根据末段中的“If nothing changes, more people will stop trusting online news, and quality journalism could disappear.(如果情况毫无改变,那么会有更多的人不再信任网络新闻,而高质量的新闻报道也可能会消失)”可知,网络广告不变会导致用户不信任网络。故选A项。 通读全文,根据首段“When you read news online, websites don’t care about sharing information — they want to make money from you. Every time you click a link, even before the page loads, your personal details are sold to advertisers in quick online sales. This happens so fast that you don’t even notice it happening.(当你在网上阅读新闻时,网站并不关心分享信息,它们的目的在于从你身上获取收益。 These apps block most ads and trackers, making reading faster and easier.(为了避免糟糕的体验,在可靠的应用程序上阅读新闻。 D On the slopes of a volcano in central Mexico, biologist Cuauhtémoc Sáenz-Romero and his team imaged a climate shelter for oyamel fir trees (南美洲冷杉) and the monarch butterflies that depend on them. D They will be taken over by other tree species. 15. Which is the best title for the passage? A. Saving Oyamel Fir Trees B. The Survival of Oyamel Firs C. Protecting Monarch Butterflies D. The New Method of Tree-planting 【答案】12. C 13. D 14. D 15. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文 The next morning. I decided to write a letter to my father. Difficult as it was for me, I first apologized for my rude behavior. Sitting at my desk, tears blurred my words as I explained how stressed I was under the heavy load of study and training. I described sleepless nights drowning in textbooks and aching muscles from relentless drills, admitting I feared failing both academically and as his son. Hoping to clear the misunderstandings, I put the letter on his desk before leaving for school. My hands shook — would this help him understand, or deepen the gap between us? When I returned home that evening, I found my father waiting for me. His eyes were gentle, lacking the anger from yesterday. He walked towards me, holding my letter. “I’m sorry for pushing you too hard” he began, then stopped. Slowly, he reached out and touched my shoulder. We hugged each other tightly, both of us knowing that the gap between us was bridged at that moment. Finally, we agreed I’d take a break from basketball — not quit forever. From that day forward, we learned to communicate openly and respect each other’s choices, which laid a much stronger foundation for our father-son bond. 词汇激活 行为类 ①道歉:apologize/say sorry ②拍我肩膀:touch my shoulder/pat my shoulder ③休息:take a break/have a rest 情绪类 ①流泪:tears blurred my words/shed tears ②害怕:fear/be afraid of 【点睛】[高分句型1] Difficult as it was for me, I first apologized for my rude behavior.(由连接词as引导的让步状语从句的倒装结构) [高分句型2]Hoping to clear the misunderstandings, I put the letter on his desk before leaving for school. (现在分词结构置于句首作原因状语) [高分句型3]From that day forward, we learned to communicate openly and respect each other’s choices, which laid a much stronger foundation for our father-son bond.(由关系代词which引导的非限制性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
