Last month, I took part in a cross-cultural exchange activity with students from different countries. It was held in our school, and I was both excited and a little nervous at first.
On the first day, we gathered in the school hall. There were students from the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and many other countries. Each group introduced their own country’s culture, traditions, and famous places. The students from the US showed us amazing pictures of the Grand Canyon and taught us some popular American slang. The Japanese students performed a traditional tea ceremony, which was so elegant and peaceful.
I was in a group with a girl named Lucy from the UK. We became good friends quickly. She told me a lot about British food, like fish and chips and afternoon tea. I was so interested that I couldn’t wait to try them someday. In return, I introduced Chinese Kung Fu and traditional festivals, such as the Spring Festival, to her. She was amazed by the colorful dragon dances and the delicious dumplings I described.
During the activity, we also worked on a project together. We made a poster about “The World in Our Eyes”. We collected pictures, wrote stories, and added beautiful drawings. It was not easy, as we had different ideas at times, but through communication and cooperation, we finally finished it perfectly.
On the last day of the activity, we held a farewell party. We exchanged gifts and contact information. I received a lovely keychain from Lucy, and I gave her a traditional Chinese knot. Looking back on this experience, I not only learned about different cultures but also made a precious friendship. I hope there will be more such activities in the future.

C. In the writer’s school D. In a community center
27. Which country did Lucy come from?

A. They traveled around the city.
B. They made a poster about the world.

Monarch butterflies (帝王蝶) are famous for their amazing migration (迁徙). Let’s learn about a recent study on these colorful insects.
Dr. Chip Taylor, a biologist, has studied monarchs for years. Every fall, millions of monarchs fly south from the US and Canada to Mexico. This trip can be 4,000 kilometers long! They spend winter in a small forest in Mexico, where up to 230 million butterflies cover the trees.
What’s surprising is that the butterflies that reach Mexico are the great-grandchildren of those that left north in spring. When spring comes, female monarchs lay eggs on milkweed plants as they fly north. Milkweed is the only plant where their caterpillars can grow.
But monarchs face big problems. In Mexico, people cut down trees in their winter forest for farmland. In the US and Canada, farmers use chemicals that kill milkweed. Dr. Taylor says these actions are making fewer monarchs survive. His study shows that monarch numbers have dropped by 90% in the past 20 years.
Scientists are working to help. They ask people to plant milkweed in gardens and protect the Mexican forests. “Every milkweed plant can help a butterfly live,” says Dr. Taylor.
36. Where do monarch butterflies go in winter?
A. The US and Canada. B. A small forest in Mexico.
C. Farms in South America. D. Gardens in Europe.
37. Why is milkweed important for monarchs?
A. Caterpillars grow on it. B. Butterflies rest on its leaves.
C. It gives them water. D. It helps them fly long distances.
38 What problem do monarchs face?
A. Too many birds eat them.
B. People cut down their trees and kill milkweed.
C. Winter is too cold in Mexico.
D. They can’t find food in spring.
39. How much have monarch numbers dropped in 20 years?
A. 50%. B. 70%.
C. 80%. D. 90%.
40. What do scientists ask people to do?
A. Cut down more trees. B. Plant milkweed and protect forests.
C. Feed butterflies in winter. D. Study monarchs’ migration.
【答案】36. B 37. A 38. B 39. D 40. B

由上文“Pay Attention to Body Language(注意肢体语言)” 及“Stand up straight and make eye contact(站直并与观众眼神交流)”可知,此处需补充肢体语言的具体做法。C项Move your hands to show important ideas.(用手势表达重要观点。) 中“Move your hands”属于肢体语言范畴,与“Stand up straight”、“eye contact”并列,共同说明肢体表达的方式,且“show important ideas”体现肢体语言的功能性,符合“肢体语言指导”的段落主题。故选C项。
【43题详解】
由上文“Avoid complicated words(避免使用复杂词汇)”及下文“For example, say ‘difficult’ instead of ‘challenging’ if it’s easier for listeners.(例如,如果对听众来说更容易,用‘difficult’代替‘challenging’。)”
由上文“Connect with Listeners(与听众建立联系)”及“Start with a funny story or a question(以有趣故事或问题开头)”可知,此处需说明如何与听众产生共鸣。G项Find out what they care about and talk about it.(了解他们关心的内容并谈论它。)中“what they care about”是“建立联系”的核心策略,与“get attention”“make listeners feel involved”形成因果关系,即“了解兴趣点→引发参与感”,符合“听众互动”的逻辑链条。故选G项。
【45题详解】
由上文“End Strongly and Politely(有力且礼貌地结尾)”及“After finishing, thank the audience and invite questions. (结束后,感谢观众并邀请提问。)”可知,此处需补充结尾的强化方式。F项End with a strong message they can remember.(以令人难忘的有力信息结尾。)中“End with a strong message”呼应段落标题“End Strongly”,“remember”与“thank the audience and invite questions”共同构成“礼貌致谢→信息强化”的完整结尾,形成“礼仪性结尾→内容性结尾”的递进逻辑。故选F项。

【答案】
Healthy Habits, Happy Life
Health is the foundation of everything. Without good health, we can hardly enjoy a meaningful life or achieve our goals. Therefore, developing healthy habits is crucial for our well-being.
In my daily life, I stick to two key habits. First, I exercise for at least 30 minutes every day, like running or playing badminton. This not only boosts my energy but also helps me stay relaxed after study. Second, I focus on a balanced diet—lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, while avoiding junk food. Since forming these habits, I’ve felt more energetic and seldom fallen ill.
Healthy habits lead to a happy life. Let’s start today: eat wisely, exercise regularly, and embrace a positive lifestyle. After all, a healthy body means a happy mind!

A. Boring and tiring.

In recent years, short videos have become extremely popular around the world. With just a mobile phone, people can easily create, share, and watch short videos on various platforms. Short videos, usually lasting from a few seconds to several minutes, have brought both positive and negative influences to our lives.
On the positive side, short videos provide a convenient way for people to relax and have fun. After a long day at work or study, you can quickly open a short-video app and enjoy funny skits, beautiful music performances, or amazing travel vlogs. They can make you laugh, relieve stress, and broaden your horizons. Also, short videos offer a great platform for people to show their talents. Many ordinary people have become famous overnight by sharing their special skills, like singing, dancing, or handicraft-making, through short videos. What’s more, short videos can be used for education. Teachers can make short video lessons to make learning more interesting and efficient. Students can also use them to review knowledge and learn new things in a more engaging way.
However, short videos also have some negative effects. Spending too much time on short videos may lead to addiction. Some people can’t help but keep swiping their phones and watching one video after another, wasting a lot of time that could have been spent on more meaningful things, such as studying, working, or communicating with family and friends. Moreover, the quality of short videos varies greatly. Some videos contain false information, bad values, or even harmful content, which may mislead viewers, especially young people.

C Farms in South America. D. Gardens in Europe.
37. Why is milkweed important for monarchs?
A. Caterpillars grow on it. B. Butterflies rest on its leaves.
C. It gives them water. D. It helps them fly long distances.
38. What problem do monarchs face?
A. Too many birds eat them.
B. People cut down their trees and kill milkweed.
C. Winter is too cold in Mexico.
D. They can’t find food in spring.
39. How much have monarch numbers dropped in 20 years?
A. 50%. B. 70%.
