It is easy to see why. Yao’s works look so realistic, like oil paintings, Chinese ink wash paintings or photographs. Many of her works have been bought by domestic and foreign museums. Yao was born into a family with a long history in the art in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. Her grandparents and parents worked in the industry. She started to learn from her grandmother and mother when she was little. Influenced by her father, she always loved to read books about art and esthetics (美学). She attended lectures on philosophy and art innovation when she was growing up. “You might not use the knowledge in the beginning, but what you read and what you experience will eventually be reflected in your works,” says Yao. Form more than 10 years, she learned embroidery from masters of Suzhou embroidery and gradually became famous for her own skill. Elected as a promoter and ambassador of Suzhou embroidery, she has been to many countries for cultural communication, including the United States, France and Italy. Like many intangible cultural heritage items, Suzhou embroidery faces the problem of finding young people to pass the craft down. The huge input of time and energy required to learn embroidery, Yao admits, has scared away many young people. However, she takes it as her responsibility to attract and train enough inheritors (继承人). She cooperated with colleges in Suzhou to open an embroidery course and teach the students for free. Yao has been teaching embroidery lovers at her workshop for many years. Some of her students have set up their own workshops and started to teach others themselves. “Traditional handicrafts need to conform to the current esthetics and cannot get stuck in the standards of old times. Embroidery techniques should also be improved continuously.” Yao suggests that embroiderers should open up new horizons instead of working in workshops all day long. She visits art exhibitions and museums at every opportunity when she goes to big cities. 4. What is the author’s purpose in writing the first paragraph? A. To compare embroidery with photos. B. To list some mistaken views on embroidery. C. To highlight Yao Huifen’s extraordinary skill. D. To clarify the differences between embroidery and paintings. 5. According to Yao, why are young people unwilling to learn embroidery? A. They find it takes lots of time and efforts. B. They lack interest in it. C. They consider it costs much money. D. They have a different taste for beauty. 6 The underlined word “conform” in the last paragraph most likely means ________. A. say no (to) B. follow C. adjust (to) D. replace 7. What can we infer from the text? A. Yao Huifen prefers working in big cities. B. Embroidery is gradually regaining its fame. C. Yao Huifen has a talent for teaching embroidery. D. Yao Huifen is struggling to inherit Suzhou embroidery. C 5. A 6. C 7. 根据文章第一段“People who visit Yao Huifen’s workshop often mistake her embroidery (刺绣品) for paintings or photographs. It is easy to see why. Yao’s works look so realistic, like oil paintings, Chinese ink wash paintings or photographs. 根据文章第四段“The huge input of time and energy required to learn embroidery, Yao admits, has scared away many young people. (姚承认,学习刺绣需要投入大量的时间和精力,这吓跑了许多年轻人。)”可知,根据姚惠芬的说法,学习刺绣需要投入大量的时间和精力,这正是年轻人不愿意学习刺绣的原因。故选A。 根据文章第四段“Like many intangible cultural heritage items, Suzhou embroidery faces the problem of finding young people to pass the craft down. The huge input of time and energy required to learn embroidery, Yao admits, has scared away many young people. However, she takes it as her responsibility to attract and train enough inheritors (继承人). (与许多非物质文化遗产项目一样,苏绣也面临着寻找年轻人来传承这一技艺的难题。姚惠芬承认,学习刺绣需要投入大量的时间和精力,这让许多年轻人望而却步。然而,她认为吸引和培养足够的传承人是自己的责任。)”可知,从文中可以推断出,苏州刺绣面临着传承的问题,而姚惠芬正在积极努力地去吸引和培养传承人。这显示出她正在为传承苏州刺绣而努力奋斗。故选D。 C Within an hour at Tai Po Market, a group of Lingnan University students collected 86 kg of food waste. From coffee grounds to “ugly” produce, these items will usually have ended up in land fields But thanks to this project and these students, the ugly produce was handed out to those in need, while the other food waste went to farms for composting (堆肥). And one of the project’s partner farms, Pioneer Farm in Yuen Long, other students helped with the hot composting process, which breaks down the food waste, and turns it into nutrient-rich fertilizer. These thirty students were part of a service learning program led by Daren Leung Shi-chi, a research professor at Lingnan University. “This experience was a shocking lesson for the students,” explained Leung. “They never imagined that collecting such a huge amount of extra food could be so easy. Witnessing the amount of food waste, they realized the severity of Hong Kong’s food waste problem.” Each semester since the course began in 2022, Leung’s class is divided into groups for farming, community work, and event organizing. “The students understood that many community members were concerned about the issue of food waste,” Leung noted, adding that these ordinary people had few opportunities to discuss the challenges of sustainable waste management. Student Mabel Wong shared how this program opened her eyes to the pressing issue of food waste while strengthening her connection with the local community. “I witnessed how many perfectly good to eat ‘ugly’ fruits were thrown away,” she said. “This has changed the way I think about my future… Originally, I was interested in social work, but now I’m considering becoming a campaigner.” The Lingnan University students have partnered to organize workshops to educate the public about sustainable waste practices. Last year, they hosted an activity at Tung Tak School. The event for primary school pupils featured interactive workshops on topics such as how to use leftover food to make pizza, dye (染) fabric with onion skin, and create green compost. 8. What happened to the “ugly” produce collected by the students? A. It was sent to landfills. B. It was made into fertilizer. C. It was given to people who needed it. D. It was sold at a lower price. 9. According to Professor Leung, why was the food collection experience “a shocking lesson” for the students? A. They found collecting extra food very simple. B. They found transporting food waste expensive. C. They realized ugly produce was a sort of food waste. D. They realized people lacked environmental awareness. 10. What was the impact of the course on Mabel Wong? A. She adopted a simpler lifestyle. B. She changed her future career direction. C. She engaged more in community activities. D. She grasped the importance of social work. 11. What is the main purpose of the workshops organized by Lingnan University students? A. To promote organic farming. B. To teach people how to recycle paper. C. To raise funds for environmental projects. D. To share knowledge about green waste practices. C 9. A 10. B 11. 根据第一段“But thanks to this project and these students, the ugly produce was handed out to those in need, while the other food waste went to farms for composting (堆肥).(但多亏了这个项目和这些学生,那些长相不佳却仍可食用的农产品被分发给了有需要的人,而其他食物垃圾则被送往农场进行堆肥处理。)” 根据第四段“They never imagined that collecting such a huge amount of extra food could be so easy.(他们从未想过收集如此大量的剩余食物竟如此容易。)” 故选A。 根据倒数第三段“This has changed the way I think about my future… Originally, I was interested in social work, but now I’m considering becoming a campaigner.(这改变了我对未来的看法……我原本对社会工作感兴趣,但现在我在考虑成为一名倡导者。)”可知,这个课程改变了她未来的职业方向,故选B。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“The Lingnan University students have partnered to organize workshops to educate the public about sustainable waste practices.(岭南大学的学生们还合作组织了研讨会,向公众宣传可持续废物处理实践。)” D。 D Climate breakdown is always changing the taste and quality of beer, scientists have warned. The quantity and quality of hops (啤酒花), a key ingredient (成分) in most beers, is being affected by global heating, according to a study. As a result, beer may become more expensive and manufacturers will have to adapt their brewing (酿造) methods. Researchers forecast that hop production in European growing regions will fall by 4-18% by 2050 if farmers do not adapt to hotter and drier weather, while the content of alpha acids in the hops, which gives beers their unique taste and smell, will fall by 20-31%. “Beer drinkers will surely see the climate change, either in the price tag or the quality,” said Miroslav Tmka, a scientist at the Global Change Research Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences and coauthor of the study, published in the journal Nature Communications. “That is bound to happen from our data.” Beer, the third-most popular drink in the world after water and tea, usually gets its flavour from aromatic (芳香的) hops that are sensitive to changes in light, heat and water. In recent years, demand for high-quality hops has been pushed up by a boom in craft beers with stronger flavours. But green-house gases are putting the plant at risk, the study found. In Germany, the second-biggest hop producer in the world, average hop production have fallen, the study found. Andreas Auernhammer, a hop farmer in Spalt in southern Germany, said the total rainfall in his fields had changed little but that now “the rain does not come at the right time.” 12. According to the researchers’ forecast, by 2050, if farmers don’t adapt, hop production in European growing regions will decrease by ________. A. 4-18% B. 4-10% C. 10-20% D. 20-31% 13. What specific aspect of beer will be directly influenced by the fall in the content of alpha acids in hops? A. The beer’s color. B. The beer’s alcohol content. C. The beer’s price. D. The beer’s unique taste and smell. 14. What does the boom in craft beer demand imply for the beer industry under climate change according to Paragraph 4? A. It may depend less on high-quality hops. B. It may make shortage of beer hops worse. C. It may speed up the development of other ingredients. D. Consumers may make little response to the rising beer price. 15. Which statement is the best title for this article? A. Rainfall Problems for German Hop Farmers B. Climate Change Harms Beer Quality and Price C. Challenges of Rising Craft Beer Demand D. Scientific Research on Global Warming and Hop Growing 【答案】12. A 13. D 14. B 15. 根据第二段“Researchers forecast that hop production in European growing regions will fall by 4-18% by 2050 if farmers do not adapt to hotter and drier weather,(研究人员预测,若农民不适应更炎热干燥的天气,欧洲种植区的啤酒花产量到2050年将下降4-18%)”可知,若农民不适应改变,欧洲种植区的啤酒花产量到2050年将下降4-18%。故选A项。 根据第二段“while the content of alpha acids in the hops, which gives beers their unique taste and smell, will fall by 20-31%.(而啤酒花中赋予啤酒独特味道和气味的α酸含量将下降20-31%)”可知,α酸含量下降直接影响啤酒的味道和气味。 根据第四段“In recent years, demand for high-quality hops has been pushed up by a boom in craft beers with stronger flavours. But green-house gases are putting the plant at risk, the study found.(近年来,对高品质啤酒花的需求因风味更强的精酿啤酒的繁荣而上升。但研究发现,温室气体正在使工厂面临风险)”可推断,精酿啤酒繁荣增加了对啤酒花的需求,而气候变化威胁供应,两者叠加可能导致啤酒花短缺加剧。故选B项。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。 通读全文可知,文章首段指出“Climate breakdown is always changing the taste and quality of beer(气候崩溃正在改变啤酒的口感和品质)”,并提到啤酒价格可能上涨。 Celebrate the small wins Big occasions and achievements are marked with excitement but smaller moments are worth celebrating too. ·___16___. Time and again, she asked her parents, promising to walk, feed, and look after it. Each time, though, they gave the same gentle response: “We’ll see.” One afternoon, on her way home from school, Fauna saw a little dog wandering near the park. Its fur was messy, and it looked lost, sniffing the ground as if searching for something. Feeling curious and hopeful, Fauna bent down and called to it. The dog quickly ran over, wagging (摇) its tail and gently pressing its nose into her hand, like they had known each other forever. She looked around, but no one seemed to be searching for the dog. Feeling pity for the lost dog, Fauna decided to take it home. As they walked side by side, her heart swelled with joy. It felt as though this was the pet she had always dreamed of—a friend she had been waiting for. At the front door, Fauna’s mother greeted her with a warm smile. Although she found the dog adorable, she gently reminded Fauna that they needed to try and find its owner. If the dog was lost, someone must be missing it. Fauna reluctantly (不情愿地) agreed, though part of her wished no one would come forward to claim the little dog. Over the next few days, Fauna and the dog—whom she named Buddy—grew inseparable. She fed him, played with him, and let him sleep curled up at the foot of her bed. Every day, it became harder to imagine life without him. Buddy seemed happy too, wagging his tail whenever she came home from school. But Fauna knew deep down that she had to do the right thing. She and her parents posted flyers around town, hoping to find Buddy’s owner. Just a few days later, the phone rang. Fauna’s heart sank as her father answered. From the conversation, it was clear that the caller was Buddy’s owner. He described Buddy perfectly—the friendly eyes and playful personality. Fauna knew Buddy would soon be leaving her. Her father arranged for the owner to come by and pick Buddy up. When the man arrived, the little dog ran straight into his arms, barking with joy. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ That evening, Fauna sat quietly in her room, feeling the emptiness that Buddy’s absence had left behind. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】When the man arrived the little dog ran straight into his arms, barking with joy. Fauna watched as Buddy wagged his tail furiously, licking the man’s face with excitement. It was clear that Buddy remembered his owner and was overjoyed to see him again. The man thanked Fauna and her family for taking such good care of Buddy. Fauna knelt down to give Buddy one last hug, whispering, “I’ll miss you, Buddy.” As the man led Buddy away, Fauna stood at the door, waving until they were out of sight. That evening, Fauna sat quietly in her room, feeling the emptiness that Buddy’s absence had left behind. Her parents noticed her sadness and sat down with her. Her father said, “How about visiting the animal shelter this weekend? If you’re ready, maybe we can find a pet that needs a home—one that we can keep forever.” Fauna’s eyes lit up, and a small smile returned to her face. She realized that while saying goodbye to Buddy was hard, it had also opened the door to a new possibility—a chance to give another animal a loving home. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①照顾:take care of/look after ②拥抱:hug/embrace ③注意到:notice/observe 情绪类 ①兴奋地:with excitement/excitedly ②非常高兴:overjoyed/delighted 【点睛】[高分句型1] It was clear that Buddy remembered his owner and was overjoyed to see him again.(运用了it作形式主语,that引导主语从句) [高分句型2] As the man led Buddy away, Fauna stood at the door, waving until they were out of sight.(运用了连词as和until引导的时间状语从句、现在分词作状语) [高分句型3] If you’re ready, maybe we can find a pet that needs a home—one that we can keep forever.(运用了if引导的条件状语从句和that引导的定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 河池市2025年春季学期高一期末学业水平质量检测 英语 (本试卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟) 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? 6. The underlined word “conform” in the last paragraph most likely means ________. A. say no (to) B. follow C. adjust (to) D. replace 7. What can we infer from the text? A. Yao Huifen prefers working in big cities. B. Embroidery is gradually regaining its fame. C. Yao Huifen has a talent for teaching embroidery. D. Yao Huifen is struggling to inherit Suzhou embroidery. C Within an hour at Tai Po Market, a group of Lingnan University students collected 86 kg of food waste. “This has changed the way I think about my future… Originally, I was interested in social work, but now I’m considering becoming a campaigner.” The Lingnan University students have partnered to organize workshops to educate the public about sustainable waste practices Last year, they hosted an activity at Tung Tak School. D Climate breakdown is always changing the taste and quality of beer, scientists have warned. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
