参考范文:
Dear Tom,
How’s everything going? I’m excited to share our school activities with you.
Last Sunday, we had a food culture festival on the school playground. It was really fantastic! We cooked and tasted various foods. I made tanghulu with my friend Li Lin, and it was very popular. While enjoying the food, we watched a video about Chinese food culture and played interesting games like guessing food-related riddles. The festival was both fun and educational!
Here’s great news! Next Saturday, we will have a Chinese traditional costume festival from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Since you’re interested in Chinese culture, do come and join us!
Yours,
Li Hua

When I was a teenager, I did a six-week summer learning camp at a college. It helped kids get a taste of what college was like. We had classes in the morning and the evenings were filled with fun activities. We did have a break in the afternoons. One afternoon, my friend Claude and I found an old basketball. We went to an outdoor basketball court for a game of one-on-one.
At that time, Claude was taller than me. He was also better at basketball. Gradually, I fell behind. I made up my mind and drove hard to the basket and missed it! The ball bounced off the rim (从篮筐弹回) . Just as I jumped up to catch it, I saw an elbow above my face. When Claude caught the ball, his elbow hit my eye hard. I saw stars everywhere. The pain was terrible. Claude kept saying “sorry” over and over. I laughed through the pain.
I spent the next few days walking around with a black eye, but it was worth it. For years afterward, I got a laugh whenever I told the story and joked about Claude’s elbow of death. We all get an elbow to the eye sometimes. Our plans fail. Things work against us. Our ups become downs. When this happens, it’s best to face it with laughter and forgiveness (原谅). Do you think backpacks (背包) are important for students? You may say yes. With backpacks, we carry books, water bottles, pencil boxes and other school things. But a growing number of schools in America are banning(禁止) backpacks in class now. Here are some reasons.
Students may bring something unnecessary or dangerous to school. They may put phones into their backpacks. They may carry snacks. And some of them may bring something dangerous like knives. To solve these problems, some schools make a rule -- No backpacks in classrooms.
Students’ backpacks take up much space in the classroom. Because of them, the hallways are always crowded. Without backpacks, the classroom will be less crowded and much tidier.
▲ Backpacks = Bad Backs! Some backpacks are big and huge. If a student carries a heavy backpack, he or she may have problems in the neck, back and shoulders. A large number of schools ban the use of backpacks to help students keep healthy.
With the rule, students no longer carry backpacks during school hours. They need to keep them in lockers. Do students like such a rule?
Some of them think the rule is good. They are glad to put their backpacks into the lockers before walking into the classroom. But some of them don’t like it. “I’d like to keep my backpack because my locker isn’t close to my classrooms,” said Kemezis. “Without a backpack, it’s hard for me to take so many things with my hands, including textbooks, a water bottle, a pencil bag, and more,” Amelia said. “I keep losing things, like my cards,” Nikitha said.
61.How does the writer start the text?
A.By telling a story. B.By asking a question.
C.By giving a suggestion. D.By showing an example.
62.Which sentence can be put in “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 4?

63.What does the underlined word “locker” in Paragraph 5 mean in Chinese?
A.课桌 B.讲台 C. 储物柜 D.行李箱

A.Without a backpack she keeps losing things.
B.Her locker is not close to the classroom.
C.She wants to put a water bottle in the backpack.
D.It’s hard to take many things with her hands.
65.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?

About 1,101 manatees died in Florida in 2021, many from hunger. So government wildlife experts (专家) came up with a plan to give food to the manatees. They decided to feed them green vegetables like lettuce and cabbage. Ron Mezich, an expert, said, “We’re making a difference.” By the end of 2021, they had served up more than 193,000 pounds of lettuce to hungry manatees.
Manatees are huge sea animals that only eat seagrass and other plants that live in the sea. That’s one reason why they’re sometimes called “sea cows”. Since 1967, Florida’s manatees have been on the US government’s list of endangered animals. Most dangers to manatees come from humans. One of the biggest problems facing the animals are boats. Thousands of manatees were hit or killed by boats. At one point, there were only about 2,000 manatees left in Florida. With protection, the number increased. In 2016, there were more than 6,000 manatees.
However, as seagrass began to disappear, the number of manatees keeps going down again. Warming seas with polluted water have created huge growths of algae (藻) on the ocean’s surface. The algae block (阻挡) the sunlight, so the seagrass dies. In Indian River Lagoon, where manatees often go in the winter, about 90% of the seagrass beds there have died off. Florida will work to help restore (恢复) seagrass beds. But that will take time. Scientists still worry that hundreds more manatees could die in the coming years.
66.Why did many manatees die in Florida in 2021?
A.Because of hunger. B.Because of cold weather.
C.Because of other sea animals. D.Because of boat accidents.
67.Why are manatees sometimes called “sea cows”?
A.They are as big as cows. B.They can swim like cows.
C.They have tails like cows. D.They feed on plants like cows.
68.How has the number of manatees changed over years?
A. B. C. D.
69.Which shows the correct order of the causes of manatees’ death?
A.sea pollution → growth of algae → death of seagrass → death of manatees
B.growth of algae → sea pollution → death of seagrass → death of manatees
C.sea pollution → death of seagrass → growth of algae → death of manatees
D.growth of algae → death of seagrass → sea pollution → death of manatees
70.Which is the best title for this passage?
A.The Growth of Algae in Oceans
B.The Death of Seagrass in Florida
C.Manatees: The “Sea Cows” of Florida
D.Saving Florida’s Manatees from Hunger

When I was a teenager, I did a six-week summer learning camp at a college. It helped
kids get a taste of what college was like. We had classes in the morning and the evenings
were filled with fun activities. We did have a break in the afternoons. One afternoon, my
friend Claude and I found an old basketball. We went to an outdoor basketball court for a
game of one-on-one.
At that time, Claude was taller than me. He was also better at basketball. Gradually, I
fell behind. I made up my mind and drove hard to the basket and missed it! The ball
bounced off the rim (从篮筐弹回) . Just as I jumped up to catch it, I saw an elbow above
my face. When Claude caught the ball, his elbow hit my eye hard. I saw stars everywhere.
The pain was terrible. Claude kept saying “sorry” over and over. I laughed through the
pain.
I spent the next few days walking around with a black eye, but it was worth it. For
years afterward, I got a laugh whenever I told the story and joked about Claude’s elbow of
death. We all get an elbow to the eye sometimes. Our plans fail. Things work against us.
Our ups become downs. When this happens, it’s best to face it with laughter and
forgiveness (原谅 ). In this way, you can turn your pain into joy and you can learn and
grow.

B.Life is always full of ups and downs.
C.Face life with laughter and forgiveness.
D.Everyone grows up with lots of pain.

Do you think backpacks (背包) are important for students? You
may say yes. With backpacks, we carry books, water bottles, pencil
boxes and other school things. But a growing number of schools in
America are banning(禁止) backpacks in class now. Here are some
reasons.
Students may bring something unnecessary or dangerous to school. They may put
phones into their backpacks. They may carry snacks. And some of them may bring
something dangerous like knives. To solve these problems, some schools make a rule -- No
backpacks in classrooms.
Students’ backpacks take up much space in the classroom. Because of them, the
hallways are always crowded. Without backpacks, the classroom will be less crowded and
much tidier.
▲ Backpacks = Bad Backs! Some backpacks are big and huge. If a student
carries a heavy backpack, he or she may have problems in the neck, back and shoulders. A
large number of schools ban the use of backpacks to help students keep healthy.
With the rule, students no longer carry backpacks during school hours. They need to
keep them in lockers. Do students like such a rule?
Some of them think the rule is good. They are glad to put their backpacks into the
8
lockers before walking into the classroom. But some of them don’t like it. “I’d like to keep
my backpack because my locker isn’t close to my classrooms,” said Kemezis. “Without a
backpack, it’s hard for me to take so many things with my hands, including textbooks, a
water bottle, a pencil bag, and more,” Amelia said. “I keep losing things, like my cards,”
Nikitha said.
61.How does the writer start the text?
A.By telling a story. B.By asking a question.
C.By giving a suggestion. D.By showing an example.
62.Which sentence can be put in “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 4?
A.Using backpacks makes life easier.
B.Backpacks make the classrooms crowded.
C.Heavy backpacks are not good for students.
D.Without backpacks, students take fewer things to school.
63.What does the underlined word “locker” in Paragraph 5 mean in Chinese?
A.课桌 B.讲台 C.储物柜 D.行李箱
64.Why does Nikitha dislike the No-backpack rule?
A.Without a backpack she keeps losing things.
B.Her locker is not close to the classroom.
C.She wants to put a water bottle in the backpack.
D.It’s hard to take many things with her hands.
65.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?

About 1,101 manatees died in Florida in 2021, many from hunger. So government
wildlife experts (专家) came up with a plan to give food to the manatees. They decided to
feed them green vegetables like lettuce and cabbage. Ron Mezich, an expert, said, “We’re
making a difference.” By the end of 2021, they had served up more than 193,000 pounds of
lettuce to hungry manatees.
Manatees are huge sea animals that only eat seagrass and other plants that live in the
sea. That’s one reason why they’re sometimes called “sea cows”. Since 1967, Florida’s
9
manatees have been on the US government’s list of endangered animals. Most dangers to
manatees come from humans. One of the biggest problems facing the animals are boats.
Thousands of manatees were hit or killed by boats. At one point, there were only about
2,000 manatees left in Florida. With protection, the number increased. In 2016, there were
more than 6,000 manatees.
However, as seagrass began to disappear, the number of manatees keeps going down
again. Warming seas with polluted water have created huge growths of algae (藻) on the
ocean’s surface. The algae block (阻挡) the sunlight, so the seagrass dies. In Indian River
Lagoon, where manatees often go in the winter, about 90% of the seagrass beds there have
died off. Florida will work to help restore (恢复 ) seagrass beds.

Dear Tom,
How’s everything going? I’m excited to share our school activities with you.
Last Sunday, we had a food culture festival on the school playground. It was really
fantastic! We cooked and tasted various foods. I made tanghulu with my friend Li Lin, and
it was very popular. While enjoying the food, we watched a video about Chinese food
culture and played interesting games like guessing food-related riddles. The festival was
both fun and educational!
Here’s great news! Next Saturday, we will have a Chinese traditional costume festival
from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Since you’re interested in Chinese culture, do come and join
us!
Yours,
Li Hua
