Have you ever watched amazing drone (无人机) light shows? They’re really cool to watch! These shows often happen during big events like the Olympics or national celebrations. People really love them.
You might be wondering how these shows work. Well, they use a lot of drones with bright lights on them. First, someone programs a computer to tell the drones what to do. Then, that program goes to each drone. After that, people on the ground use the computer to make the drones move. When everything is ready, the show starts. All the drones fly up at the same time and move in the sky in a beautiful way.
The number of drones can make different effects. For example, some shapes need more drones than others. Simple shapes need fewer drones, and more complicated (复杂的) shapes need more. The number of the viewers (观众) and how far away they are also decide how many drones are needed so everyone can see the show well.
Even though these drone light shows are really cool, there are still ways to make them better. New tools and technology can help make the shows even more amazing. Also, the people who design the shows are trying to find new ways to make them even better.

Dealing with a nosebleed might seem simple. But the British Red Cross asked parents with young children how to help a child with a nosebleed. About 65 percent of parents did not choose the correct action to help.
Learning what to do if a little child has a nosebleed will help you deal with the situation quickly and calmly. Here, Claire shares the story of how she helped her daughter when her nose was bleeding.
On a very hot and sunny day, Claire took her daughter Bella, aged almost three and a half, to the park. On the way home, Bella fell asleep in the car. When they got home, Claire found something was wrong with Bella.
“As I was laying her down, blood started pouring from her nose. It was all over her face and down her neck and that made me scared,” Claire said.
Having already learned first aid, Claire knew what to do.
“Bella got upset because of all the blood. I sat her up, leaned (倾斜) her forward and pressed the sides of her nose,” Claire said. “I knew this was right, as leaning her forward would stop the blood from going into her airway (气管) or stomach.” Luckily, Bella’s nosebleed stopped after a few minutes.
Claire was glad that she had remembered the key ways to help children with a nosebleed: to press the sides of their nose and ask them to lean forward. In fact, every parent should learn how to deal with a nosebleed. Then he or she can help the child in a right way.
36. What percent of parents don’t know how to deal with a nosebleed correctly?
A. About 30%. B. About 35%. C. About 65%. D. About 100%.
37. How was Claire when she found Bella was having a nosebleed?
A. Upset. B. Calm. C. Scared. D. Nervous.
38. What’s the right order of dealing with a nosebleed according to Claire?
①press the sides of the child’s nose ②lean the child forward ③sit the child up
A. ①②③ B. ①③② C. ③②① D. ③①②
39. Why did Claire lean her daughter forward?
A. To stop the bleeding.
B. To make her daughter feel comfortable.
C. To make sure the blood wouldn’t make the clothes dirty.
D. To stop the blood from going into her daughter’s airway or stomach.
40. What does the passage mainly want to tell us?
A. The importance of learning to deal with a nosebleed.
B. The reasons why people have a nosebleed.
C. How brave and smart Claire was.
D. How Claire saved her daughter.

Many of us learn how to ride a bicycle at a young age. As we grow older, we may stop riding, but whenever we get on a bicycle, it’s like we’ve never stopped biking.
In many cases, our memory (记忆) lets us down. We often find it hard to remember the name of a person or a place, but why can we still ride a bicycle after we stopped riding a long time ago?
It seems that there are many types of memory. They are in different parts of our brains (大脑). Memories of experiences (eg.our first day at school) and of factual knowledge (e.g. the capital of China) are called declarative memory (陈述性记忆). Skills such as playing an instrument or riding a bike are called procedural memory (程序性记忆).
Scientists have done many tests on different memory types. The most famous of them was Henry Molaison, an epileptic (癫痫患者). In the 1950s, part of his brain was taken away. After that, his illness became better. But there’s a new problem—he couldn’t remember things!
What’s wrong with his memory? Through many tests, scientists found he could learn new skills slowly. However, he could never remember having been trained to learn a new skill. That means he could develop new procedural, but not declarative memories.
Scientists said that even with serious brain injuries, procedural memories last much longer. However, they haven’t found out why. Some say procedural memories are more lasting because they are in the brain’s centre.
Now “just like riding a bicycle” is used in our life. Can you guess its meaning?
41. How does the writer start the article?
A. By telling the difference. B. By giving an example.
C By listing the number. D. By asking questions.
42. Which of the following is the example of procedural memory?
A. Playing the piano. B. Our first day at school.
C. One trip to France. D. The first time I rode a bicycle.
43. What does the underlined word “them” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. Scientists. B. Tests. C. Types. D. Memories.
44. What’s Henry Molaison’s problem after part of his brain was taken away?
A. His illness became worse. B. He couldn’t learn new skills.
C. He could never remember anything. D. He couldn’t develop declarative memories.
45. What’s the meaning of “just like riding a bicycle”?
A. A gift that one is born with. B. A task that takes a long time to finish.
C. A skill that will never forget. D. A memory that is always in the brain.

40. What does the passage mainly want to tell us?

Now, “just like riding a bicycle” is used in our life. Can you guess its meaning?
41. How does the writer start the article?
A. By telling the difference. B. By giving an example.
C. By listing the number.
