Hello everybody.Today I'd like to share with you something about John Audubon.
John was bom on April 26th,1785.He spent much of his childhood in France, where he
spent many hours each day outdoors painting pictures. At the age of 18,he moved to the
United States.Well, actually,John began his life in the-US as a businessman. However,
instead of taking care of his business,John was often off exploring nature. At first,John
spent his time hunting for fun. Then he found that the animals around were very beautiful.
And he particularly enjoyed observing the birds he saw.He began studying them, trying to
learn the differences between the birds and noticing their different behaviors. Therefore,he
painted the birds he observed a lot.In 1819,John realized that he didn't have enough money
to pay his bills. He was very upset that he couldn't earn enough money to support his family.
So he spent time improving his painting skills and began to sell his paintings. He discovered
that he could earn some money while doing something he really enjoyed. We are lucky now
to have so many paintings of American birds by John Audubon.

One possible version:
Dear Chris,
How is everything going?I'd love to share with you a trip to the City Art Gallery
organized by our class last Saturday.
We gathered at the gate of the Gallery at 9 in the morning. To begin with,we followed a
guide to enjoy classic paintings from different periods. Then we explored a modern art
exhibition, which was inspiring and challenged my perception of beauty and creativity.
Before leaving,we even tried sketching a famous landscape painting in a workshop.
Through this visit,I not only gained a deeper understanding of art history but also
realized how art bridges different cultures. What a fulfilling day it was!
Yours,

One possible version:
But then Luca signaled to me to wait outside.Puzzled,I stood there, listening to the
lively sound from his classroom.Minutes passed and my heart.started to race faster with
both curiosity and uncertainty. What was he doing?Just as I was about to peek inside,Luca
finally came back out.His hands were hidden behind his back, and his face was slightly
flushed with excitement."I got this for you."He said almost shyly, before extending his
hands and giving me a small stuffed cat.
I stared at the toy, trying to figure out what had just happened. Then it hit me that it
was Friday-the day his class exchanged tickets for prizes.Luca had been waiting for his
turn,but when I showed up,he made a choice.Instead of picking something for himself,he
used almost all of his hard-earned tickets, and spent them on me.My brother loved me;he
just showed it differently. This stuffed cat,VIP,was proof of the quiet, unspoken love of a
brother who,in his own way,had given me one of the most precious gifts of all.Frankly,it
feels so sweet to know that I am always his VIP-Very Important Person.

Growing up in Kenya,Lesein Mutunkei, together with his family, always celebrated
significant occasions by planting trees, which motivated him to protect the environment. It's
what the now 18-year-old soccer player treasures, especially since Kenya has an-ongoing
problem with deforestation.
Mutunkei follows in the footsteps of the late Kenyan Nobel Peace Prize winner
Wangari Maathai who founded the Green Belt Movement in.1977.This initiative()has
resulted in the planting of over 51 million trees to date.
In 2018,Lesein decided to start a movement of his own.He started by planting one tree
for every goal he scored during a football match. He called it Trees4Goals,and it has grown
so much that he now.plants 11 trees, one for each member of his team, every time he scores.
Through this,he wants to inspire young people, specifically his fellow athletes,to follow in
his footsteps, take nature conservation seriously, and promise to plant trees every time they
score. As a resuli, some of them have adapted this practice for their sports."Seeing that
they're taking that responsibility because of the project I started, for me,that is the biggest
achievement,"he said.
The initiative has caught the attention of English football club Arsenal and Kenya's
Ministry-of Environment and Forestry, which he now works with regularly and gets advice
from.
Like the Green Belt Movement,Trees4Goals,which has planted 5,500 trees so far,has
made it.While Lesein has received some acknowledgement for his initiative,he sets his

For most people,a minor wound will be relatively harmless. After some time the
wound will heal and disappear without leaving any visible evidence on the skin. But it is not
so simple for everybody.Diabetics(糖尿病人)and elderly people with reduced biood
circulation may have far greater issues when it comes to wound healing. However, scientists
have introduced a new weapon against such extreme wound reactions.
Swedish scientists from Chalmers University of Technology have developed a
technology which can stimulate()wound healing so that it can happen more rapidly.
The technique involves electrifying the skin."Long-standing wounds make up a severe
problem that we do not hear very much about,"says Associate Professor Maria Asplund
from Chalmers University of Technology, who headed the project."We have now found a
method that can make wounds heal up to three times faster, which could be a game changer
for elderly people and diabetics, who often have wounds that cannot heal."
To test this, the Chalmers researchers made a kind of biochip(生物芯片),on which they
grew skin cells. They then made small wounds in the artificial skin and tested how fast the
wound healing happened when they either passed electricity through the chip or did not.
The resuits showed the healing process happened three times faster in the presence of
electricity.
The scientists will now receive funds to continue their research beyond the lab."At the
moment we are investigating how different skin cells react to electrical stimulation to find
out what would correspond to(匹a配)realistic wounds,”says Asplund.“We aim to develop a
concept that allows us to examine wounds and personalize the electrical stimulation to
individual wound types. We are convinced that this is the way to help people with
slow-healing wounds."
28.Who will most benefit from the new technology?
A.People with high blood sugar.
B.People who have heart attack.
C.People who get wounded easily.

To be clear:Food noise has nothing to do with hunger or food shortage, says Lawrence
Cheskin,a professor of nutrition and food studies at George Mason University. It's about
being absorbed in thoughts about food.
In an issue of the journal Nutrients, researchers defined food noise as something that
can be caused by internal signs such as your stomach growling with hunger or external
signs such as seeing or smelling delicious foods. These signs can cause food-related
thoughts to start playing on a repetitive cycle.
"Imagine you have a picture chart-think about what percentage of the day is spent
thinking about food,"says Susan Albers,a clinical psychologist."For those with a lot of
food noise,80 to 90 percent of their day is spent thinking about food.""For those with
intrusive food noise,it might affect their sleep,or lead to shame about eating or anxious
thoughts,"says Goldman."It can get in the way of someone being able to function at their
best."By contrast, those with mild food noise may hardly notice it.
Anyone can experience food noise but people with obesity or overweight often struggle
with food noise more than other people, which can make it difficult to lose weight.Other
people include those with an eating disorder or disordered eating pattern. Also,if you have a
lot of food rules or you've been dieting off and on for years, you may be more likely to
experience food noise."There's a lot of shame and judgment about food noise,"Albers says.
"It can impact relationships, leading to social withdrawal, and reduce people's participation
in other areas of their life."
Keep in mind, however, that food noise is a common suffering."Don't beat yourself up
forit.Instead, exercise some self-sympathy,"Goldman suggests."The way we talk to
ourselves matters,so be mindful about what you're saying to yourself about food noise."
32.What do we know about food noise?
A.It's the noise people make while eating.
B.It's only for people with weight issues.
C.It's related to food shortage and causes hunger.
D.It refers to repeated food thoughts due to signs.

I have a toy,a small stuffed(cat, which has remained one of my most treasured
possessions.I call it VIP-Very Important Pet.It sits on my desk as a reminder of a
moment with my brother.
Luca,my older brother,had autism().Most of the time,he stayed quiet.He
never openly expressed his feelings or communicated the way other people did.We were
family, but there was always a quiet distance between us-one that I didn't fully understand
at the time.
Luca and I attended the same school, but our paths rarely crossed. He was two grades
ahead of me,and though we lived together, our school lives were entirely separate.I had
rarely visited his classroom or expected him to find me.But one thing I did know was that
his class had a reward system where students earned tickets for good bebavior and could
trade them for prizes every Friday.Yet Luca never brought home any prizes.I often
wondered why-maybe he wasn't interested,maybe he didn't eam enough tickets,or
maybe he just didn't like waiting for his turn. Then one day,I remember clearly it was
Friday, something unexpected happened. While I was in class,I reached into my school bag
for my folder(资料夹)and suddenly realized I had taken Luca's by mistake!Remembering
I was supposed to have my own folder,I quickly told my teacher what happened and asked
if I could go to exchange the folders. She said yes.
As I made my way toward my brother's classroom,a strange mix of excitement and
nervousness settled over me.I had never been there before, and for reasons I couldn't quite
explain,it felt like stepping into an unfamiliar world. When I arrived,I heard a soft buzz(
of noise inside.I explained the situation to his teacher, who smiled knowingly and
called Luca over.We exchanged folders, and I turned to leave, expecting nothing more than
a simple exchange.
