Each country in the world has its own traditional clothes, which show us the country’s traditional aesthetics (美学) and social values in special ways. Here are the four most well-known kinds of traditional Chinese clothing.
Hanfu is the oldest of China’s traditional clothes. It could be back to over 4,000 years ago when Huangdi’s wife, Leizu, made cloth with silk. It was kept improving till the Han Dynasty, when Hanfu was made and strongly promoted (推销) by the ruling class (统治阶级). It also had a deep influence on Asian countries, such as Korea, Japan, and Vietnam.
The Zhongshan suit, also known as the Mao suit overseas (海外), is a type of men clothes. It was first advocated (提倡) by Sun Zhongshan in 1912, so it was called the Zhongshan suit. Later on, after Chairman (主席) Mao had been seen wearing it in public many times, this kind of clothes got another name—the Mao suit.
The Tang suit often refers to a kind of Chinese jacket rather than the clothing of the Tang Dynasty. This name came from the overseas Chinese. As the Tang Dynasty was well-known for being rich and powerful in the world, foreigners called the overseas Chinese people “the Tang people” and the clothes they wore were called “the Tang suit”, also known as Tangzhuang.
The Qipao developed from the Manchu (满族) women’s changpao of the Qing Dynasty. The Han people also called the the Manchu people Qi people, so their changpao was named Qipao. Qipao is popular because it fits the Chinese women figure well, and looks pretty. It is suitable for wearing all the year round for both young and old group. And it can either be long or short.
16. What kind of clothes has the longest history?
A. Hanfu B. The Zhongshan suit C. The Tang suit D. The Qipao

C. Because Chairman Mao often wore it in public.
D. Because it originated during Mao’s leadership.
18. Why did foreigners call the overseas Chinese people “the Tang people”?
A. Because the foreigners liked the Tang suit.
B. Because the Tang suit was a symbol of good luck.
C. Because the tang Dynasty was rich and powerful at that time.
D. Because people of the Tang Dynasty were friendly to foreigners.
19. Which is the right order of the development of the clothes?
① ② ③ ④
A. ③④②① B. ①③④② C. ①②③④ D. ④③①②
20. What is the main purpose of the text?

Do you know a famous saying, “Life is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you will get.” The surprise is part of the fun. Now blind boxes are quite popular. Merchants (商家) fill the box with random (随机的) toys which usually come from movies, comics and cartoons. Many people like to buy them to find out what will be inside.
The earliest blind boxes were from Japan. Getting blind boxes was a New Year’s tradition. At that time, they called the blind box “a lucky bag”. Blind boxes were introduced to China in 2014. Most customers for blind boxes are young people aged 18 to 35.
Blind box toys are popular in part because of their cute appearances. The cute mini-sized cartoon figurines (小塑像) are suitable to place almost anywhere. What’s more, the mystery and uncertainty(不确定性) of the process also interests people. It’s the main reason why they are so popular.
Opening a blind box is a little surprise for our daily lives. When people open this little box, they may be disappointed, but the uncertainty is part of the fun. I leave some time open between showering and leaving for work to relax and watch a video or two. Then, when I’m at work, I like to look up things online in the morning before writing stories in the afternoon. During my lunch break, I like to go home to see my cat and take a nap (小憩).
Later, after work, I study Chinese before eating dinner. Finally, I might play some games or read a book before going to bed. This is my routine during the work week, but on the weekend, I like to sleep in before washing clothes and cleaning up.
