Passage 1
Ni Zixin was born in Hubei in 2008. When she was a little girl, her parents hoped she could learn to play the piano. However, it turned out that golf was her true calling. Luckily, her parents gave her fully support.
Ni Zixin gave us a big surprise at the 75th US Girls’ Junior Championship (美国女子青少年锦标赛) in California in July this year. With an amazing score of 11-under 131 total, Ni won the first place. And she also set a record for the best score ever achieved by a Chinese player in the event.
Ni’s journey into golf began at the age of 9. “I was introduced to golf by my friends. I spent an afternoon playing golf with them on the greens. Then I fell in love with this sport.” Ni said.
Ni’s interest quickly turned into her love. Over the years, Ni has been in strict training. She spent three to four afternoons a week and half of her weekends doing practice on the golf course. Although the weather was often challenging, she never gave up. To learn more and know other golf players well, she had to spend lots of time watching matches, too. “Weekends are the hardest because I get home late. And I have to finish my schoolwork.” Ni said.
Ni believes golf is more than just a sport. She thinks it can help people to be more patient and develop thinking ability. Even when you just play it for fun, golf can help bring happiness and encourage healthy habits.
Ni will continue improving her skills and take part in more matches. “I hope to represent (代表) China in some important events, such as the Asian Games and the Olympics, and win gold medals.” Ni said.

1. 原句:With an amazing score of 11-under 131 total, Ni won the first place.
句首 “With an amazing score of...” 是介词短语作状语,说明 “赢得第一名” 的方式(凭借某成绩);
2. 原句:She spent three to four afternoons a week and half of her weekends doing practice on the golf course.
主干是 “spend + 时间 + doing sth”(花费时间做某事),是八年级重点句型;
“three to four afternoons a week and half of her weekends” 是并列的时间短语,结构稍长但逻辑清晰,需注意 “spend...on the golf course” 中 “on” 表示地点。
3. 原句:I hope to represent China in some important events, such as the Asian Games and the Olympics, and win gold medals.
主干是 “I hope to do sth and do sth”(两个不定式短语并列,表希望的动作);

Do you often compare(比较)yourself with other people and wish you could be more like them? We are all different in our own way. Self-acceptance can help you feel happier and better about yourself.
What is self-acceptance?
Self-acceptance means learning to accept(接受)the things that make you who you are. And being thankful for what you’re good at, like sports, science or singing. Self-acceptance also means valuing(重视)the parts of you that don’t shine very brightly, like being forgetful or untidy. A 12-year-old girl, Lily, says self-acceptance means “knowing your own weaknesses and strengths(强项), and accepting who you are no matter what other people say or think.”
Why is self-acceptance good for you?
When you accept who you are, you worry less about things you can’t change. It makes you feel happier and more confident. The Anna Freud Centre, a charity that helps young people, says everyone can feel that they have to be perfect(完美的), but that makes us forget about the little things that make us special. ▲ For example, some people may find letters or numbers hard to read, but they might have strengths in other things, like finding good ways to work out problems.
How can you accept yourself?
Start by making a list of all the things you like about yourself. Maybe you’re good at cooking, or people find it easy to talk to you. Also, try saying kind, happy things to yourself in a mirror every morning. Think up ways to treat yourself, such as taking a long shower, watching your favorite film, or eating delicious ice-cream. But don’t forget it’s important to eat healthy food and get enough sleep.
1.Which of the following is NOT true about self-acceptance?

A.It can also help you know what you’ re really good at.
B.Accept yourself and never say you can’t do it.

3.How does the writer develop(阐述)his idea in Paragraph 4?
A.By giving examples. B.By asking questions.
