【答案】17. A 18. C 19. C 20. A
【解析】
【原文】Attention, passengers, it’s the station manager speaking. Here’s an urgent update on today’s train schedule. The 12: 30 p. m. train to Melbourne on Track 3 will now leave from Track 2. Additionally, the 2: 00 p. m. train to Brisbane on Track 1 has been moved to Track 4. There’s urgent track maintenance for several station lines, so our station’s safety officers have made this urgent decision.
Please double-check the track number before boarding and check the destination sign to confirm your train. We understand these changes bring challenges, so please allow extra time to buy tickets and board trains. Recently, we’ve received many comments that passengers couldn’t catch their trains. We’re doing everything we can to reduce this problem. Now, we have additional guides in the station to help everyone find their platform and train. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask for help.
Finally, we offer food and drinks on the train. Please prepare some cash in case your online payment fails, because the phone signal may drop when trains are traveling through mountains and countryside areas. So, please get prepared for that and find your ways to kill time on the train. Thanks for listening, and thanks for riding Australian Railways.

When I challenged myself to travel by low-carbon routes during the writing of my book, I experienced the best and worst of our transit network. When public transport works, it really works. I found traveling by train and bike empowering.
But even in this time of climate emergency, public transport still remains an unpopular choice. It doesn’t take many strikes, cancellations, missed connections and rising ticket prices to avoid it altogether. When the average British person already spends around £ 3,500 a year on car costs, it’s no wonder we prefer the driver’s seat.
Yet, there are many reasons we should be using public transport more, with one being the bonus to the environment they bring. Recent research shows that UK trains have higher carbon savings than previously thought. For my Scottish journey, had I traveled a similar route from London to Edinburgh by car, my journey’s emissions would supposedly have increased 10-fold.
E-bike rental schemes have also increased across the UK, and so has cycling in general, but this mode of transport isn’t always planned for. All over the country, dedicated (专用的) bike lanes are way too rare.
All of this has revealed to me that while the UK’s transport infrastructure (基础设施) is poor, its potential is significant. We know how effective electrified rail routes can be in decarbonization, but in 2021-22 little more than a mile of such track was upgraded across Britain. Centrally funded investment could change things.
The rest of Europe seems to recognize this. If I were in Austria, I could travel across Vienna by public transport for €l a day. In Germany, I could organize a monthly €49 direct debit for all-inclusive regional public transport. Closer to home, Brighton and Hove have the most popular bus network outside London.
We must demand a nationalized low-carbon network. A standardized, centrally funded consistently supported ecosystem of public transport across the UK could truly change our carbon game.
24. What does the underlined word “empowering” in paragraph 1 most probably mean?
A. Sparking debate. B. Causing confusion.
C. Giving strength or confidence. D. Leading to complaints and protests.
25. What is the problem with implementing e-bike rental schemes?
A. High rental fees. B. Potential safety problems.
C. Lack of public interest. D. Insufficient infrastructure
26. Why does the author mention Austria and Germany?
A. To compare the costs of public transport.
B. To predict the challenges of UK’s public transport.
C. To contrast with the state of UK’s public transportation.
D. To illustrate the popularity of public transport in Europe
27. What can be the best title for the passage?
A. Transforming carbon game: The Eco-Boost on Rails.
B. Revolutionizing UK Transport: The Green Ride Ahead.
C. Empowering Global travelling: A Long March on Land.
D. Revolutionizing UK City Life: The Tech Leap on Tracks.
【答案】24. C 25. D 26. C 27. B
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讨论了英国公共交通的现状、问题以及改进的可能性,并呼吁建立国家化的低碳公共交通网络。
【24题详解】
词句猜测题。根据上文“When I challenged myself to travel by low-carbon routes during the writing of my book, I experienced the best and worst of our transit network. When public transport works, it really works. (在写书期间,我给自己设定了一个挑战,即通过低碳出行方式旅行,这让我亲身体验了我们交通网络的优与劣。当公共交通运行顺畅时,它的表现真的非常出色。)”可知,作者写书时挑战自己使用低碳出行方式,因此可推测作者认为乘坐火车和自行车旅行是积极正面的经历,划线的“empowering”应表示“给予力量或信心”。故选C。
【25题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“All over the country, dedicated (专用的) bike lanes are way too rare. (在全国各地,专用的自行车道太少了。)”可知,实施电动自行车租赁计划存在的问题是基础设施不足。故选D。
【26题详解】
推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“The rest of Europe seems to recognize this. If I were in Austria, I could travel across Vienna by public transport for €1 a day. In Germany, I could organize a monthly €49 direct debit for all-inclusive regional public transport. Closer to home, Brighton and Hove have the most popular bus network outside London.

The School District of Philadelphia is making a strategic move to position itself as a national leader in integrating artificial intelligence into education. In a groundbreaking partnership with University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, the district is set to launch the Pioneering AI in School Systems (also known as PASS) program in March 2025.
This project is getting support from the Marrazzo Family Foundation and Penn’s Catalyst Education Center. It’s a big step forward using AI in schools in a smart way. If it works well, other cities might follow Philadelphia’s example.
PASS is designed to help schools get ready for AI. It has three parts that focus on different levels of using AI. District leaders will learn how to make a plan for using AI that fits with the school’s goals. Principals will learn how to use AI in their schools. Teachers will get training on how to use AI tools to make lessons more personalized, improve teaching, and track how students are doing. Most importantly, teachers will focus on how AI can help in the classroom every day, like finding out what students need help with and giving them tailored resources.
PASS comes at a time when schools are trying to figure out how AI can help learning. Tools like ChatGPT are becoming popular with teachers and students. AI has great potential, but it also has challenges. Philadelphia’s school leader, Tony Watlington, thinks PASS can make waves. “We need to get our students ready for a future where technology will play a big role in their success,” he said. “PASS is set to transform teaching methods and make sure students are ready for college and work.”
Not many school districts in the U.S. have a program like PASS. When PASS starts in March 2025, people will be watching to see how it works. If it’s successful, it could be a model for other districts that are trying to use AI in schools. As schools across the nation deal with similar questions, Philadelphia may well become a leader in showing how AI can transform learning thoughtfully and strategically.
28. What does the PASS program aim to do?
A. Provide support for the foundation. B. Teach students how to code AI tools.
C. Replace teachers with AI technology D. Integrate AI into the education system.
29. What is the key feature of the program?
A. Its practical application plan. B. Its structured training model.
C. Its unique resource distribution. D. Its personalized leaning process.
30. What does the underlined phrase “make waves” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Bring about positive and far-reaching changes.
B. Create unnecessary conflicts in the educational field.
C. Spark discussions about educational innovation.
D. Cause troubles that stop educational progress.
31. What can be concluded about PASS?
A. PASS has gained ground in people’s mind.
B. PASS holds great potential for a brighter future.
C. PASS is bound to set a perfect example for others.
D. PASS will be widely adopted across the nation any time soon.
【答案】28. D 29. B 30. A 31. B

If you’re eating protein (蛋白质), you could be swallowing hundreds of tiny pieces of plastic each year, research finds.
A new study by researchers with the nonprofit Ocean Conservancy and the University of Toronto found microplastics — tiny particles ranging from one micrometer to a half-centimeter in size — in nearly 90 percent of protein food samples tested.
The researchers analyzed more than a dozen different types of common proteins that could wind up on the average American’s plate, including seafood, pork, beef, chicken, to fu and several plant-based meat alternatives. They estimated that an American adult could consume, on average, at least 11,000 microplastic pieces per year.
The study’s findings provide further evidence of the availability of small plastic particles — which have been discovered everywhere from Antarctic snow to inside human bodies — and how they can end up in the food we eat and the water we drink.
“While we still really don’t have any idea what the human health consequences of this are, if there are any at all, we need to take this seriously because this is a problem that’s not going away on its own, and it’s only going to get worse the more plastic we use and throwaway,” Leonard said. But Leonard and other experts cautioned against using the findings to draw final conclusions about how microplastics can dirty food and the amount of plastic that could be hiding in proteins.
The study’s sample size was not big enough and the researchers noted that there was high variability in microplastic concentrations in the samples. The researchers also only counted microplastic particles that were larger than or equal in size to 45 micrometers. “It just highlights that we need to do more research,” said Bianca Datta, a food scientist not involved in the new research.
32. What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. The nature of plastic particles. B. The researchers’ discovery.
C. The variety of foods on a dining table. D. The conclusion of the research.
33. What is Leonard’s attitude towards the findings?
A. Cautious. B. Critical. C. Confident. D. Concerned.
34. What is the author’s purpose of writing the last paragraph?
A. To show the limitation of the research.
B. To highlight the danger of microplastic concentrations.
C. To appeal for environmental protection.
D. To stress the urgency of the study.
35. Which of the following would be the best title?
A. Stay away from plastics B. Possible effects of food processing
C. You may be eating plastics D. A poisoned food system
【答案】32. B 33. D 34. A 35. C

35. 主旨大意题。根据全文内容尤其是第一段“If you’re eating protein (蛋白质), you could be swallowing hundreds of tiny pieces of plastic each year, research finds.(研究发现,如果你吃蛋白质,你每年可能会吞下数百块小塑料)”可知,本文介绍了我们日常生活饮食可能会让我们摄入大量的微塑料,C选项“你可能在吃塑料”适合作为本文标题。故选C。

阅读下面材料:根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
We three were running down the path, shouting and laughing when our dog Rubby suddenly stopped in the distance. He turned around, eyeing us, with his tail swinging up and down.
My little brother Toby immediately sped up and rushed to where Rubby was He bent down and picked up something and ran back to us.
It was a bunch of keys. We gathered in a circle, examining the keys one by one, hoping to find some useful information about its owner. There were 3 keys, a house key, a mail key and a car key and a unique key fob(吊坠), very likely designed specially.
“Gosh, the owner might be in great trouble.” My sister sighed. She was right. We once lost our keys. Although we had an extra house key, it took our parents quite a long time to get a new mail key, let alone there was a car key.
Who might have lost them?
After many wild guesses, we finally drew a conclusion: It might belong to someone in our neighborhood as only our neighbors wandered into the woods for a walk. But it was still impossible to figure out who it was. We had a very big neighborhood.
“The owner might come back to look for them.” Toby reminded.
So we decided to stay where we were, keeping a watchful eye on all passers-by. Our little dog ran in circles of excitement that we stayed so long in the wild. We remained in the woods for two hours, asking everyone we came across whether they lost their keys, but in vain.
It seemed we had to give up. But my sister wouldn’t, saying that she just couldn’t stop picturing the owner brushing aside tall grasses hoping to find the lost keys. “How anxious and upset the owner would be!”
I took a look at the bunch of keys again and quite by accident, found the key fob had the alarm button, “Look! If we press the alarm button, close enough of course, we can set off the owner’s car alarm...”
“That’s brilliant.”
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右:

Thanks so much for agreeing to this interview. This is all bright. Well, of course, i've never been featured in the newspaper before, so I was worried I might say something wrong. But as my late husband used to say, i'll try anything once nothing can beat me. That actually leads me nicely to my first question. You just celebrated your birthday and became the longest lived person in our country. Are there any personal philosophy that have guided your life? Well, for me, kindness has always been the most important thing. I remember my sister bought me a book of wise saying for my twenty first birthday, this was in one hundred forty three, so there was a . war on right. Of course. the one that has always stayed with me is by the author mark twin. He said, kindness is a language that the death can hear and the blind can see. Wow.
