Have you ever seen something so amazing that it took your breath away? In 2019, during China’s National Day parade, 352 soldiers marched in perfect step. They created the world’s largest “human screen”! Then in 2022, at the Winter Olympics 576 light sticks formed a shining ice ring. These cool scenes (场景) are called “Pái Miàn” in Chinese, and they tell a story that is over 3,000 years old!
The idea of “Pái Miàn” started in ancient China. Back then, wars were common, and good military formations (军事阵型) were super important Sun Tzu; a famous thinker, wrote in The Art of War that well-organized formations could lead to success. If you visit Xi’ an, you can see the terracotta warriors (兵马俑). They stand in straight rows, showing us how the Qin Dynasty soldiers lined up long ago. This love for order didn’t just stay in the army. Think about dragon dances. A dragon dance needs 108 people to work together. They move the dragon so smoothly—it’s like they’re one big team!
Today, “Pái Mian” is still alive and better than ever. Every morning at 5, rain or shine,36 soldiers from the Guard of Honor of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army march to Tian’ anmen Square. Each of their steps is exactly 75 centimeters long. Their boots hit the ground at the same time, making a loud “click” sound. The most exciting part is when they raise the flag. Their movements match the 46-second national anthem (国歌) perfectly! Thousands of people gather to watch this ceremony.
Professor Chen from Peking University says “Pái Miàn” shows how we think. “When everyone does their best, the whole group succeeds, just like 55 BeiDou satellites working together to help us find our way,” he explains. Young people are joining in too! In Shanghai, 5,000 students held colored cards to make a huge QR code (二维码). Li Hua, a 14-year-old student, said, “My small card was just 20 square centimeters. But without it, the big picture wouldn’t look right.”
From ancient battlefields to modern cities, “Pái Miàn” makes us think of the power of teamwork. It’s a tradition that makes China’s history and present truly special.
29. Where did the idea of “Pái Miàn” first come from?
A. Ancient military formations. B. The raising of the national flag.
C. Folk traditions like dragon dances. D. Modern group performances.
30. Which of the following scenes GANNOT be called “Pái Miàn”?
A. The terracotta warriors stand in straight rows.
B. Thousands of people gather to watch the flag raising ceremony.
C. 576 light sticks formed a shining ice ring at the Winter Olympics.
D. 352 soldiers marched in perfect step during China’s National Day parade.
31. What can we learn from the example of 5,000 Shanghai students making a QR code?
A. It’s easy to make a big QR code.
B. The huge QR code is interesting.
C. Students like to play with colored cards.
D. Small parts are important for the whole thing.
32. What’s the best title of the passage?
A. The History of Pái Miàn B. Pái Miàn—the Power of Teamwork

As we know, AI (Artificial Intelligence) is changing our lives. But we should also know it can help us, and it can cause us harm too. Who is using AI? Is AI taking the place of humans? What should we do to avoid-the risks and dangers that AI might bring?
AI is set to help humans in many ways. It can make daily tasks easier and help people work faster. It might be one of man’s greatest inventions (发明).
And yet, like any other technology, ________. In February 2018, a group of AI experts got together to discuss the possible misuse of AI. What they found was that “Every AI advance by the good guys is an advance for the bad guys, too,” according to Quartz.
Their biggest worry was that criminals (罪犯) could use AI for wrongful purposes. One of the areas they looked at was the use of AI to create websites that could be used to steal people’s personal information. Another possibility is that Al programs could be taught to break into computer secure systems (安全系统).
There are some other worries as well. It is possible that Al could be used to create unreal pictures and videos. Chinese tech giant Baidu, in fact, has developed a program called Deep Voice that can copy anyone’s voice by listening to just 3.7 seconds of their speech! Many famous people in the tech world are worried about AI. People like Bill Gates and Elon Musk think we should control the AI industry more strictly. They want governments to create stricter rules because there aren’t many laws about using Al right now.
However, the situation will change. The European Union planned to start a group to discuss the moral and ethical (道德和伦理的) dangers of advanced AI. People hoped it could make some rules to keep AI safe for us.

I often sit quietly, using my fingers to “read” books and imagine the cool pictures in them. I really wish to see those pictures with my eyes one day.
Recently, I asked a seeing friend who had just walked in the woods what she had noticed. “Nothing special.” she replied. How was it possible, I asked myself, to walk through the woods and see nothing worthy (值得的) of note? I who cannot see find hundreds of things to interest me only through touch. If I can get so much pleasure from touch, how much more beauty must be found by sight? And I have imagined what I should most like to see if I were given the use of my eyes for just three days.
On the first day, I should want to see the people who have made my life worth living and the books which have been read to me. In the afternoon, I should take a walk in the woods and enjoy the beauty of nature. That night, I should not be able to sleep.
On my second day, I should go to the museums to see man’s progress. I should try to explore the spirit of man through his art. In the evening, I should spend time at the movies.
The following day, I should spend in the world of common people going about the business of life. At midnight, permanent (永久的) night would close in on me again, and I should realize how much I had left unseen.
I who am blind can give one suggestion to those who see: Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be blind. The same is true of other senses. Hear the songs of birds, as if you would be deaf tomorrow. Smell the flowers, as if tomorrow you could never smell again. But of all the senses, I’m sure that sight must be the most pleasant.

请认真阅读下面短文,并根据短文内容回答问题。
In cities, a growing number of people are turning their homes into small green gardens by keeping houseplants. According to a recent survey, about 65% of the families have at least three plants in their living spaces.
There are several reasons why indoor gardening has become so popular in the city. First, plants help make indoor air clean. They take in harmful things from the air and give out fresh oxygen. Second, looking after plants brings a sense of achievement, especially when seeing a small seed grow into a healthy plant. Moreover, plants are beautiful, ever-changing home decorations. Unlike static artworks (静态艺术品), living plants grow and change with the seasons, bringing natural beauty into city flats.
However, beginners often face some problems. Some choose unsuitable plants. For example, many beginners buy sun-loving plants like roses but place them in rooms with poor light. Overwatering is another common problem. New growers may water plants too often because they don’t know that most indoor plants prefer drier soil.
To help solve the problems, local gardening centers provide free guidance on choosing the right plants for different light conditions and proper watering skills. With the right knowledge, anyone can achieve success in home gardening. Moreover, many neighborhood communities have started plant exchange programs to share advice with beginners. Some schools have even added plant care into their life skills courses.
With these helpful resources, anyone in the city can develop a green thumb and enjoy the journey of growing alongside your plants. Why not begin your own indoor gardening adventure today?

This could be used to spread lies or trick people.

Darkness is always with me. Sometimes, I wonder a lot about the bright world. How do people who can see notice colors, movements and little things every day?
—Adapted from Three Days to See

D. The writer would be unable to see again after midnight.
39. Which is the best structure of the text? (①= Paragraph 1②= Paragraph 2...)

七、阅读与回答问题(本题共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
