Lingyun is a girl from Ya’an, Sichuan Province, born in 1998. She is not only the inheritor (传承人) of the Emei School but also a well-known inheritor of Emei Kungfu (峨眉武术).
Lingyun began to learn Emei Kungfu at the age of 4. Her grandfather was her first teacher. He was good at Emei Kungfu, too. He found her natural talent (天赋) for it and began teaching her. Every morning, Lingyun woke up early to practice the different moves and skills. “It was very difficult at first,” she says, “but I knew I had to keep this tradition alive.”
As Lingyun grew older, her Emei Kungfu became better. At the age of 10 she joined the Emei School for further study. After finishing high school, she got into Sichuan Media University to study dance. Once upon a time, Tang Sanzang and his three followers (徒弟): Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing were traveling to India to get Buddhist scriptures (佛教经文). One very hot day, they were three and decided to rest in a small temple. Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, offered to look for food. Zhu Bajie, who was lazy and loved to eat went with him.
