WELCOME UNIT 第一部分 “高考话题” 题型组合练 (四)良好的人际关系 题组15 Ⅰ 阅读 (2025·四川省江油市太白中学高三月考)Sometimes I began to imagine: what if I were neighbors with all of my friends? The more I've thought about it, the more I believe: we should all live close to our friends. For the past century, the nuclear family, only including parents and children, has defined US homes. But Americans lived with friends and extended family long before the nuclear family became common. Even now, this mode of living exists somewhere; think of college campuses, which tend to be the kind of walkable communities where you're regularly running into pals on the street. 2 While moving closer to friends would likely require a lot of efforts, doing so could actually be really good for you. Having supportive friends is connected with greater daytoday happiness. Researchers have found that happiness spreads easily, especially among those who live close together. Friends living within a mile of each other are 25 percent more likely to feel happy, and their friends have a 10 percent chance of feeling happier too. Live around people who make you happy, and you might create a happiness circle that cheers up everyone around you. 3 Having a pal around is also just practical. For people with kids, a friend in the neighborhood might be able to help with child care in times of need, saving you the cost of a lastminute babysitter. Those without children might welcome the chance to bond with friends' kids. And for people who live alone, living closer to friends can make savings on some things easier. You might share household items you don't need every day, for example. Whatever the reason, having more people you trust around will make it easier for you to get through difficult times. 4 Many people are prepared to move for a new job, to be with a romantic partner, or even just for an adventure. Moving to be closer to friends should be no different. Friends are important to a good life. So why not shorten the distance between you and them? 5 1.Which was popular in the US before the nuclear family became common? A.The oneparent family. B.The extended family only. C.The college campus community. D.The family group with relatives and friends. 根据第二段中的“But Americans lived with friends ... the nuclear family became common.” D。 2.What do the percentages in Para. 3 show about living closer to friends? A.It spreads happiness among friends easily. B.It benefits one's physical and mental health. C.It improves one's awareness of family building. D.It increases one's chances of making more new friends. 根据第三段中的“Researchers have found that ... have a 10 percent chance of feeling happier too.(研究人员发现,幸福感很容易传播,尤其是在那些住得很近的人之间。朋友住在一英里以内的人感到幸福的可能性增加了25%,他们的朋友感到更幸福的可能性也增加了10%。)”可推知,这些百分比数据表明,与朋友住得近会让幸福感在朋友之间更容易传播。故选A。 3.What is the practical advantage of living near friends? A.Greater personal growth. B.Lower living costs. C.More health care services. D.Better leisure activities. 根据第四段中的“And for people who live alone ... for example.(对于独居的人来说,住得离朋友近一些可以更容易在一些事情上省钱。例如,你可以分享一些你不每天需要的家庭用品。)”可知,与朋友住得近的实际好处是可以降低生活成本。故选B。 4.What is the author's purpose in writing the passage? A.To advise living in nuclear families. B.To call on maintaining good friendships. C.To encourage people to live close to friends. D.To tell people how to turn friends into neighbors. 根据最后一段“Many people are prepared to move ... between you and them?(许多人准备为了新工作,与恋人在一起,甚至只是为了冒险而搬家。搬到离朋友更近的地方没什么不平常的。朋友对美好生活很重要。那么为什么不缩短你和他们之间的距离呢?)”可推知,作者写这篇文章的目的是鼓励人们搬到离朋友更近的地方居住。故选C。 (2025·吉林省白城市洮北区实验高级中学高三期中)Many of us live with a roommate at some stage. Sometimes, there can be problems. Who hasn't had an argument about whose turn it is to take out the rubbish or who should be the one to clear up after dinner? However, living with another person also comes with many benefits. You know that there's always someone else around, which can help you feel safer. There is always someone to talk to, so you never feel lonely. Besides these obvious benefits, there are some you may not notice. For example, we're actually more likely to eat healthier food when living with others. 10 To examine the effect of living alone, Australian university researchers did much research and found that people living alone tended to eat less fresh food, which can have a significant negative effect on longterm health. However, those living with others generally benefited from a more varied diet compared to those living alone. What could explain these findings? The researchers believe the social and cultural roles played by cooking, food preparation and eating may be important considerations. For example, those living with friends have someone else to go shopping with, and thus are likely to buy higherquality fresh food regularly. 11 Cooking skills may be another factor. If people living alone find they do not have the knowledge required to prepare a particular dish or cook a certain food, they may fall__back__on readymade, less healthy food. However, if they live with at least one other person, they may be able to ask for help. In addition, people living alone can eat whatever they want at any time of the day or night. However, it's helpful to have someone around who questions your decision to eat frozen pizza at 3 am. In other words, roommates can draw your attention to unhealthy routines. 12 So, if you now live alone and find yourself fighting a losing battle against poor eating habits, why not consider sharing a home with someone else? You could encourage one another on to greater health and wellbeing. 13 5.The author uses the first paragraph to ________. A.introduce the topic of the text B.remind readers of their roommates C.show the problems of living with others D.recall the experience of sharing a room 根据第一段内容,特别是“However, living with another person also comes with many benefits.” A。 6.The second paragraph is mainly about ________. A.the reasons for living with others B.the benefits of having a roommate C.the way of dealing with a roommate D.the importance of communicating with others 根据第二段内容,特别是“Besides these obvious benefits, there are some you may not notice.” B。 7.The underlined phrase “fall back on” in Paragraph 5 means ________. A.hunt for B.cut down on C.depend on D.give up 解析:词义猜测题。 C。 8.What is the main purpose of this text? A.To explain why roommates have arguments. B.To tell readers every coin has two sides. C.To encourage people to have a roommate. D.To persuade people to develop healthy eating habits. (2025·辽宁省鞍山市第一中学高三二模)Every time two people talk to each other, an opportunity for relationship growth is unfolding. Many times, that opportunity isn't taken; we aren't about to have an indepth conversation with the waitress who asks for our order. But connection is always theoretically possible, and that's true whether we're interacting online or facetoface. Close relationships are the bread and butter of happiness—and even health. Loneliness is a stronger predictor of death rate than smoking multiple cigarettes a day. If we want to understand the role technology plays in our wellbeing, we need to start with the role it plays in our relationships. 18 And it turns out that the technologymediated interactions that lead to positive outcomes are exactly those that are likely to build stronger relationships. Spending your time online by scheduling interactions with people you see day in and day out seems to work out in increased social integration. However, using the Internet to make up for being lonely just makes you lonelier; using the Internet to actively seek out connection has the opposite effect. Research has found that technologymediated interactions that don't really address our close relationships don't seem to do us any good—and might, in fact, do us harm. Passively scrolling (刷屏) through your Facebook feed without interacting with people has been linked to decreased wellbeing and increased depression postFacebook use. 19 That kind of passive usage is a good example of “social snacking”. Like eating junk food, social snacking can temporarily satisfy you, but it's lacking in nutritional content. Looking at your friends' posts without ever responding might make you feel more connected to them, but it doesn't build relationships. Passive engagement has a second downside as well: social comparison. When we compare our messy lived experiences to others' selected selfpresentations, we are likely to suffer from lowered selfesteem, happiness, and wellbeing. This effect is exacerbated when we consume people's digital lives without interacting with them, making it all too easy to miss the less photogenic moments of their lives. 21 9.What does the example of the waitress imply? A.Waitresses are often disrespected. B.Public places enhance relationships. C.Many relationshipbuilding chances are lost. D.Indepth conversations frequently take place. C。 10.What might be the result of making up for loneliness through the Internet? A.Loneliness will not be relieved. B.Interaction skills will improve. C.More connections will be made. D.Relationships will be strengthened. A。 11.Which of the following is an exception to “social snacking”? A.Reading a friend's posts in silence. B.Watching online videos constantly. C.Checking Facebook to pass the time. D.Video chatting with Mom every weekend. 根据第三段中的“However, using the Internet to ... has the opposite effect.”、第四段中的“Passively scrolling (刷屏) through ... increased depression postFacebook use.(被动地滚动你的脸书信息流而不与人互动,与脸书使用后幸福感下降和抑郁症增加有关。)”以及第五段中的“That kind of passive usage is a good example of ‘social snacking’.(这种被动用法是‘社交零食’的一个很好的例子。)” D。 12.What does the underlined word “exacerbated” probably mean in the last paragraph? A.Worsened. B.Weakened. C.Realized. D.Improved. 根据最后一段中的“When we compare our messy lived experiences ... and wellbeing.”以及“This effect is ... the less photogenic moments of their lives.” 故选A。 26 Dear Owen, ﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍ I'm looking forward to your reply. (2025·八省联考)I was in Philadelphia for a conference when I saw an ad in the hotel. A nearby theater was showing a documentary (纪录片) about several local animal shelters that were helping to save abandoned dogs across the country. I love animals, and I felt an urge to go to this fundraising event. However, none of my co-workers would go with me, and I was worried about walking on the street alone at night. 29 I resigned myself to spending the evening in my hotel room, but as soon as I got back to my room I felt restless and bored. The theater where the event was taking place was only about five blocks from the hotel, and the area around the hotel didn't seem particularly dangerous. So, I decided to brave it. I gathered up my wallet and room key and set off. It was already getting dark and the streets were nearly deserted. I managed to find the street the theater was on, but when I turned the corner, I stopped in shock. In front of the theater were a group of bikers—very big, tough-looking bikers. 30 I've known lots of motorcycle enthusiasts and most are nice people. However, in this case, I was a woman all alone, in a strange neighborhood, at night, and there were twenty or so very large men—all wearing insignia (徽章) that indicated they were in some sort of club—standing before me. Warning bells began to sound in my head, and my heart was pounding. Was I at the right theater? Had I misread the date of the event? A sign outside the theater told me that I was in the right place on the right evening. Nevertheless, I wondered if I should rush back to my hotel instead of walking through that crowd of bikers. I finally decided that I would be safer inside the theater. Hopefully, the bikers would have gone away by the time the film was over. 31 I hurried into the theater, only to find there were even more bikers inside. ﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍ When the film began, I realized that the bikers were an animal rescue group. 33 [精彩范文] I hurried into the theater, only to find there were even more bikers inside. They were chatting loudly and seemed to fill every corner of the place. My heart sank even further. I quickly found an empty seat in the back row, trying to make myself as inconspicuous as possible. I clutched my bag tightly, constantly glancing around, praying that nothing bad would happen. Every now and then, I peeked at the bikers, wondering what they were doing here. Were they going to cause trouble? The tension in the air was palpable, and I regretted my decision to come alone. 34 When the film began, I realized that the bikers were an animal rescue group. They had come to support the fundraiser for the local animal shelters. As the documentary unfolded, showing the plight of the abandoned dogs, I saw many of the bikers wiping away tears. They were as moved as I was by the heartwarming and heartbreaking stories. During the intermission, some of them even came over to me, smiling kindly and asking if I was enjoying the film. Their tough exteriors hid big, soft hearts. I felt ashamed of my initial fear and was truly grateful that I had decided to come. We spent the rest of the evening sharing our love for animals and discussing ways to help. 35 R $$
