2
Everything changed one day as Sather was returning home from class. An elderly woman, standing by her open trunk full of groceries, asked him to help her. He helped her get them inside. “Walking home, I realized my heart feeling lighter for the first time in weeks,” Sather says. He made a decision not to close himself off, but perform kindness every day for his community.
Sather starts small. He once noticed his neighbor's fence was damaged and wanted to fix it, but he didn't know how. “Lack of knowledge didn't stop me!” he says. “I learned online, bought a hammer and some nails, and repaired it.” As the movement has grown, so have Sather's responsibilities. He dedicates several hours each day to finding ways to serve others—cleaning up the community or assisting elderly neighbors with yard work and other tasks.
3
“Serving others isn't always fun,” Sather says. “It's hard work to remain committed to spreading kindness through serving others. But even on the toughest days, seeing the smiles on my neighbors' faces makes it worthwhile.”
“Think of something that everyone complains about and then go do it,” Sather recommends. An alley near his house, for example, was constantly filled with trash. Neighbors talked about how much they hated it, yet no one did anything about it. Sather spent several hours daily for two weeks cleaning it.
4
“When I was done, I saw increased joy and pride in our neighborhood,” Sather says. Seven months later, the alley is still clean. Sather often sees neighbors checking on it, picking up lingering garbage or cutting back weeds. “Start small. You'll be amazed at your impact,” says Sather.

(2025·广东省两校联考高三一模)The Renaissance of Creative Thought is burgeoning, perhaps even burgeoning. If you attempted to absorb all the wisdom available today, you would need more than 180 million years to do so. But you are mistaken to assume that all this wisdom would stimulate a surge of innovation to match the abundance of knowledge. Indeed, the last time we found ourselves in a period of significant innovation, pursuing the ideas with the most profound impact, was more than 120 years ago, in a period called the Renaissance of Insight.
10
Innovations, both grand and modest, originate from a new idea. Often, these ideas emerge as a moment of insight—the outcome of a novel connection in our minds made between existing and new knowledge. Studies reveal insights involve quiet signals deep in the brain, just under the surface of awareness. Anything that aids us in noticing quiet signals, such as taking breaks between engagements, adopting essential learning approaches, or steering clear of distractions like social media, can enhance the likelihood of insights. However, it is becoming increasingly challenging to find those quiet signals with the escalating use of technology, filling every moment with emergencies and an endless supply of content.
11
Moreover, we also aspire to elevate the quality of them—to be able to sift through grand new ideas and identify the ones that hold genuine value, which can be difficult to measure. Launched in 2015, the Insight Meter (洞察力计量器) permits us to evaluate the potency of our insight experiences on a fivepoint scale, which is marked by intense emotions, motivation, memory advantage, aftershocks, and subsequent ideas. The Meter consolidates these five variables into a solitary value and enables us to define the significance of a new idea. The level5 insight, involving the richest emotion, motivation, and lasting impact, holds the utmost significance.
12
Since insights are one of the most effective ways to stimulate engagement, innovation, and behavioral change, the Insight Meter has extensive applications for gauging and enhancing individual and organizational performance. More importantly, it can be employed to measure the impact of different types of work environments and learning approaches on participants' development—both in the moment or afterward.
For organizations to reap the benefits of another age of insight, it is not sufficient to attempt to access more data or augment the number of insights we generate. Instead, it is about creating space for the most significant ideas to emerge from all the knowledge.
13
Utilizing the shared language of the Insight Meter as a means to measure how important ideas are, relative to each other, will enable superior decisionmaking toward practical and competitive outcomes. And if we are to enter a new age of insight, we must design our environments to allow for the most exceptional insight possible to surface.

(2025·广东省中山市濠头中学等校高三第一次检测)For generations, we've spent the first third of our lives acquiring the college degrees we need to find jobs. These degrees are the stamps on our professional passports that pave the way for the remaining twothirds of our journey. However, the future of work won't be about college degrees; it'll be about job skills.
According to the World Economic Forum, over one billion jobs, almost onethird of all jobs worldwide, are likely to be transformed by technology in the next decade. We've already seen this happen. Think of the apps you use to shop, track orders and simply stay informed. The stores need to keep them up and running at all hours, day after day, all year round, meaning they need those who can analyze and secure customer data.
19
In these and other similar situations, people are the organizing force making sure technology works the way we want it to. This means a quick rise in new kinds of digital jobs. According to the Forum's Jobs of Tomorrow report, there'll be a rapid influx of roles at the forefront of the data and AI economy, as well as new roles in engineering, cloud computing and product development. These jobs need talent with relevant skills, and importantly these skills can be learnt even by those without college degrees.
Shifting our focus from degrees to skills will mean transitioning (过渡) to alwayson skillsbased education and employment organizations that acknowledge not just certification but fitnessforjob and employment as outcomes. In recent years, several companies have focused on continuous learning for the workforce—the trend will become stronger.
20
When it comes to skills, employers look for more than just technical skills. Companies want people with an eye for detail, creative problemsolving skills, a collaborative mindset and an ability to handle complex issues. These too are skills that can be learnt. Anyhow, lifelong learners with ever relevant skills will be in greater demand in the workplace.

Ⅱ 七选五
(2025·福建省泉州第五中学高三期中)What motivates you to work or study harder? Is it the thought of success and all the amazing things that you can achieve, or is it the fear of failure and worry about all the things that can go wrong for you? Leaders, managers, and teachers have often used one of these ideas to inspire people to work harder and achieve more. __1__
26
A recent study looked at the effect of fearbased strategies on British secondary school students. They found that if a test is seen as important, and students are optimistic that they can succeed, then the fear of failure can be used successfully by teachers to motivate these learners. However, if students are not confident, fearbased approaches could cause feelings of anxiety. __2__ The study also found that if students don't care about the test, then, unsurprisingly, the fear of failure is not likely to motivate them.
27
__3__ It's a fact that most new companies will fail. But does this motivate or prevent business people? Again, it's not straightforward. The personal consequences of failure can be significant, and so founders may be motivated to work harder to avoid them. A study carried out on British and Canadian businessmen found that fear of failure can improve problem solving, as people are motivated to anticipate and resolve potential issues. __4__ So it will help their business in the long run.
__5__ It can drive confident people to do better, but it can also increase our doubts and turn them into barriers.
28
A.It may motivate them more.
B.But is one better than the other?
C.Fearbased motivation is complicated.
D.Then it can in turn lead them to do worse.
E.Businessmen often run the risk of failure.
F.They may also be inspired to learn new things.
