【原文】Do you like lanterns? As we all know, it is a tradition to watch lanterns at the Lantern Festival. There are a lot of lantern fairs where visitors can enjoy the beauty of lanterns. Do you know when Chinese lanterns appeared? It’s said that Chinese lanterns were first made by people in the Western Han Dynasty, which is more than 2,000 years ago. After Cai Lun improved papermaking, people started to make lanterns by using paper in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Of course, other materials, including bamboo, wood, silk and so on, were also used to make lanterns. At first, people hung lanterns in front of their doors to drive away evil spirits. Nowadays, as one of the forms of traditional art, the lantern has become a symbol of getting together in China. They also play an important role in making our homes more beautiful. Although the materials and shapes of the lantern have changed a lot, the meaning behind it has never changed. Would you like to make your own lantern?

【原文】
I had felt terrible for months. I wasn’t sleeping well and I had trouble focusing on my schoolwork. I realized that I needed to make some changes in my life. First of all, each morning when I woke up, I thought about things I was expecting, so that I could feel happy to start my day. I also knew I should do more exercise, and that really helped me to relax and become more focused on enjoying the experience rather than letting bad thoughts go through my mind. Next, I changed the way I studied, too. I used to put off my homework as long as I could until I had to stay up to study. Now, I’ll do my homework right afterschool and take breaks every 40 minutes. Last month, I started watching cartoons and my favorite comedies. This made me relaxed and even made it easier for me to do my homework, too. Through all these changes, I am more relaxed and ready to face each day. What’s more, I’m organized with my studies.

On my 35th birthday, I gave myself my first skateboard. Most of my friends and family thought I was crazy, but only I knew why.
Two years ago, I accidentally fell down a 12-meter waterfall and broke my pelvis(骨盆).I went from using a wheelchair to using crutches (拐杖),then to trying to walk a block, and finally walking miles. Physical activity became even more important in my life. So why not make it enjoyable? I've wanted to learn to skateboard since I was a kid, but most of my time and energy went into dancing. In my opinion, skating was actually very similar to dancing.
For a long time, I tried to learn skating on my own. I had no idea what I was doing and always felt awkward when many strangers saw me skating or simply trying to keep my balance. That fear of being judged often stopped me from just getting out there for practice.
One day, my friend Monica and I met some of the members of GRLSWIRL, a skateboarding club. They were so friendly that we wanted to be part of it. This club was amazing. Even though everyone there was better than me, they were happy to help and excited to see me overcome challenges. There, I gradually became more confident.
For me, a big part of skating was overcoming my PTSD (创伤后应激障碍).Falling is a huge part of skating, but because of that accident, it was really hard for me to overcome it. However, the more I learned from every little fall - allowing my body to understand that it was OK, and that I could drop and get up again - the less my PTSD took over. The more I skated, the better my body and mind felt. Although I started slating for therapy(治疗),I never imagined it would open up a new world of excitement and possibilities for me.

49. What does the underlined word "awkward" in paragraph 3 mean?
A. Bored. B. Shocked.
C. Embarrassed. D. Angry.
50. When did the author become confident?
A. After she joined the club. B. After she got good at skateboarding.
C. After she made friends with Monica. D. After she achieved good results in the game.
51. What did the author think of skateboarding?
A. It would be her life work. B. It was a light on her road of life.
C. It was something she had to do. D. It was the reason for her to get her life back.

C
The cold wind swept away the last piece of warmth. A dead leaf fell at Soapy’s feet. That was a special sign for him that the cold winter was coming.
The three months’ life in the prison (监狱) on Blackwell’s island was what he wanted. Three months of free food every day and a bed every night, three months safe from cops (警察). This seemed the most expected thing to Soapy in the world. For years, the prison had been his winter home.
There were many easy ways of doing this. The best way was having a good dinner at a fine restaurant. Then he would say that he had no money to pay. And then a cop would be called. The cop would catch him. He would be taken to a judge (法官). The judge would do the rest. Thinking about this, he had a spark of hope in his heart.
But when Soapy put his foot inside the restaurant door, the waiter saw his broken old shoes and clothes. Strong hands pushed Soapy around and moved him outside again. The failure for the first time let him down.
Days later, Soapy went to a shop. It had a wide glass window. Soapy picked up a big stone and threw it through the glass. People came running around the corner. A cop was the first among them. Soapy stood still, and he smiled happily when he saw the cop.
“Where’s the man that did that?” asked the cop.
“Don’t you think that I might have done it?” said Soapy. What he wanted was coming toward him.
But the cop didn’t consider Soapy. That’s because men who break windows do not stop there to talk to cops. They run away as fast as they can. The cop saw a man further along the street, running. He ran after him. Soapy’s heart was filled with sadness, and he walked slowly away. He had failed two times.
—Adapted from The Cop and the Anthem

①On January 20, 2025, a Chinese tech company named Chinese Hedge Fund High-Flyer made a new AI called Deepseek. It quickly became the most downloaded free app on the Apple App Store worldwide, followed by ChatGPT from OpenAI, Gemini from Google, and Liama 2 from Meta.
②This smart program can solve math problems, write code, and answer questions like top models such as OpenAI’s GPT-40, but it costs much less to build. The company spent only 5.58 million dollars that is 1/70 of OpenAI’s cost, which shows that good ideas can beat big money.
③A CNBC (Consumer News and Business Channel) report agreed, “Deepseek has swept across the U. S. AI market, because it can beat American’s best AI with less cost and less-powerful chips (芯片).”
④Usually, AIs need lots of prepared examples to improve. However, Deepseek learns by itself. For example, when dealing with customer service questions or recognizing images, Deepseek doesn’t need a lot of pre-made examples like old-style AIs. It just figures things out on its own and does a much better job. Therefore, it can help run on low-cost computers, helping schools and small companies.
⑤What’s even better for these organizations is that Deepseek is open-source. It’s like a shared recipe (配方). Everyone can see the ingredients and change it to suit their taste. Likewise, Deepseek users can change the code to fit their needs without asking anyone for permission (允许). A Meta top scientist said, “This kind of free AI could change the world.”
⑥These outstanding advantages of Deepseek have attracted widespread attention. More and more international companies want to partner with Chinese AI labs, making China’s voice in the international AI market louder. At the same time, many foreign companies plan to put more money in AI research to develop advanced AI like Deepseek and gain a foot-hold in this popular filed.
⑦DeepSeek as a rising AI star, has a bright future. It can be changed for online shopping and medical imaging. Working with labs and cloud service providers will make it bigger, and the open-source community will help too. However, nothing is perfect in the world.
56. What is NOT true about Deepseek?
A. It was an AI model developed by a Chinese technology company.
B. It can beat American’s best AI with less cost and less-powerful chips.
C. It can solve math problems, write code and answer questions like GPT-40.
D. It needs lots of pre-made examples to deal with customer service questions.
57. What can we infer from the passage?
A. The development of AI is mainly decided by the amount of money.
B. People can use Deepseek freely without asking anyone for permission.
C. The AI field will be faced with a brighter but more competitive future.
D. Deepseek will take the place of ChatGPT, Gemini and Llama 2 in the future.
58. Which of the following best describes the structure of the passage?
A. B.
C. D.
59. What will the writer probably discuss after the last paragraph?
A. The reasons why Deepseek has a bright future.
B. The challenges or problems that Deepseek may face.
C. The plans of Deepseek to partner with other AI companies.
D. The expectation of Deepseek to broaden its market.
【答案】56—59 DCAB

VI.任务型阅读。(65-66每题2分;67-68每题3分;共10分)
阅读下文并回答问题。
The “protege effect” (门徒效应)is a psychological phenomenon (心理学现象). It means learning better by teaching others. It happens when students do presentations (展示). Students explain ideas clearly to others, which helps them understand the topic (主题) better. Research shows that students who make presentations improve more on tests than those who only study alone.
In Chinese class, middle school students discuss questions like “Should phones be allowed in school?” In math class, they work in groups to build models or show their research. In history classes, they share facts about events or historical buildings like the Great Wall.
In English speech competitions, students speak in front of others. In science fairs, they might test how plants grow in different light. In clubs, students share their opinions in talks like “Why Books Are Fun”.
“Teachers expect students to improve their confidence and communication skills by taking part in presentations.” says Mr. Liu, headmaster of Hongxing Middle School. “No matter what kind of presentation it is, students need to be very sure about what they’re going to talk about in front of others. And that’s the first step of a good preparation.”
(A talk between two middle school students, Jenny and Eric)
Jenny: Eric, you did such a good job in the animal protection presentation.
Eric: Thanks, Jenny.
Jenny: What did you do for your presentation?
Eric: I read many books in the library and went through different animal websites. I learned much about endangered animals and the reasons for their endangerment. That’s really helpful for my preparation.
Jenny: That’s a lot of work!
Eric: You know what? I even spoke about 10 times in front of the audience (观众) who I imagined.
Jenny: Wow, no wonder you gave the presentation so clearly and fluently.
Eric: Oh, one more thing.
Jenny: That really made your presentation better! Thanks for sharing so much.
65. Does “protege effect” happen when students do presentations?
__________________________________________________________________
66. Why do teachers want students to take part in presentations according to Mr. Liu?
__________________________________________________________________

阅读以下文章,用自己的语言概括并补全笔记中所缺信息,在空白处填入一个恰当的词块或句子。
Have you ever had such an experience? When a classmate says a certain movie is great, even though you haven’t watched it, you still nod in agreement and say it’s wonderful for sure. In our daily lives, when facing something unknown, what we hear will influence our opinions about it. To prove this, Sloman did an interesting experiment (实验).
He found some volunteers for his experiment and they were divided into two groups. He told the volunteers in Group 1 about a discovery called helium (氦) rain. He told them most people thought it useless. Then he asked the volunteers to tell how important they thought helium rain was to their daily life, using numbers from 1 to 3 to show the importance of it. Most volunteers picked the number 1, which meant they thought it not useful at all. However, he told helium rain to the other group. This time, he mentioned that a number of people believed it could be of good use in daily life. Most volunteers in this group gave the number 3 to show they thought it could bring them lots of benefits in many ways.
Sloman finds when others hold a positve view about something, volunteers will think the same. Vice versa (反之亦然). This will cause the spread of false information and the lack of creativity at work.
Is there a good way to deal with the situation? Sloman thinks we can make it, though it’s hard to check everything. We are supposed to stay calm before believing something. Not only that, it’s a good idea to check through different trusted platforms, such as CCTV or the government’s websites, especially in online communities.
Notes
The article tells us not to ____74____.
In our daily life, when we hear different things, we may hold different opinions. Sloman used the helium rain experiment to prove this. He divided volunteers into two groups. When Group 1 were told that helium rain was widely considered useless, they would have the same idea. But ____75____ they thought it could bring them many benefits. So he finds ____76____ make a big difference to ours.
To deal with the situation, Sloman suggests that ____77___.
【答案】74. follow others blindly
75. When Group 2 were told helium rain could be useful
76. others’ views
77. we should stay calm and check before believing
【解析】本文通过Sloman的氦雨实验,揭示了人们容易受他人观点影响的现象,并提出了应对建议。
【74】根据“Sloman finds when others hold a positve view about something, volunteers will think the same. Vice versa (反之亦然). This will cause the spread of false information and the lack of creativity at work.”及全文可知,本文通过实验表明人们容易受他人观点影响,这将导致虚假信息的传播和在工作中缺乏创造力,因此文章旨在告诉我们不要盲目跟随他人的观点。故填follow others blindly。
【75】根据“However, he told helium rain to the other group. This time, he mentioned that a number of people believed it could be of good use in daily life. Most volunteers in this group gave the number 3 to show they thought it could bring them lots of benefits in many ways.”可知,当第二组被告知氦雨是有用的时,他们认为这能给他们带来很多好处。故填When Group 2 were told helium rain could be useful。
【76】根据“Sloman finds when others hold a positve view about something, volunteers will think the same. Vice versa (反之亦然). This will cause the spread of false information and the lack of creativity at work.”可知,他发现他人的观点会对我们的观点产生影响。故填others’ views。
【77】根据“We are supposed to stay calm before believing something. Not only that, it’s a good idea to check through different trusted platforms, such as CCTV or the government’s websites, especially in online communities.”可知,他建议我们在相信某个事物之前要保持冷静并通过可信赖的平台去核实。故填we should stay calm and check before believing。

Here are the results. 23% of the students aren’t interested in English reading. 25% of them say they hardly have time to do English reading because of too much homework. 35% of them have difficulty in English reading and don’t know how to do English reading in right ways. Besides, 17% say they don’t have proper reading materials.
As for me, I am fond of English reading. In the beginning, I had difficulty in understanding the meaning of the materials because of too many new words. I wanted to give up but my English teacher Miss Yan, told me I could find a wonderful world if I insisted. Therefore, I tried to guess the words’ meaning by reading the sentences before and after them. At the same time, I also looked them up in the dictionary. Little by little, I could read more articles. As my teacher said, my life becomes more colorful because of reading. What’s more, I find it easier to study English.

No.1 Middle School did a survey among 2, 300 students about the problems of their English reading.

On my 35th birthday, I gave myself my first skateboard. Most of my friends and family thought I was crazy,
but only I knew why.
Two years ago, I accidentally fell down a 12-meter waterfall and broke my pelvis(骨盆).I went from using a
wheelchair to using crutches (拐杖),then to trying to walk a block, and finally walking miles. Physical activity
became even more important in my life. So why not make it enjoyable? I've wanted to learn to skateboard since I
was a kid, but most of my time and energy went into dancing. In my opinion, skating was actually very similar to
dancing.
For a long time, I tried to learn skating on my own. I had no idea what I was doing and always felt awkward
when many strangers saw me skating or simply trying to keep my balance. That fear of being judged often stopped
me from just getting out there for practice.
One day, my friend Monica and I met some of the members of GRLSWIRL, a skateboarding club. They were
so friendly that we wanted to be part of it. This club was amazing. Even though everyone there was better than me,
they were happy to help and excited to see me overcome challenges. There, I gradually became more confident.
For me, a big part of skating was overcoming my PTSD (创伤后应激障碍).Falling is a huge part of skating,
but because of that accident, it was really hard for me to overcome it. However, the more I learned from every
little fall - allowing my body to understand that it was OK, and that I could drop and get up again - the less my
PTSD took over. The more I skated, the better my body and mind felt. Although I started slating for therapy(治疗),
I never imagined it would open up a new world of excitement and possibilities for me.
48. Which of the following is TRUE according to paragraph 2?
A. The author didn't spend much time dancing.
B. The author used to be a good skateboarder.
C. The author had a car accident two years ago.
D. The author put in a lot of effort to walk again.
That was a special sign
for him that the cold winter was coming.
The three months’ life in the prison (监狱) on Blackwell’s island was what he wanted. Three months of free
food every day and a bed every night, three months safe from cops (警察). This seemed the most expected thing
to Soapy in the world. For years, the prison had been his winter home.
There were many easy ways of doing this. The best way was having a good dinner at a fine restaurant. Then
he would say that he had no money to pay. And then a cop would be called. The cop would catch him. He would
be taken to a judge (法官).
Soapy picked up a big stone and threw it
through the glass. People came running around the corner. A cop was the first among them. Soapy stood still, and
he smiled happily when he saw the cop.
Soapy’s
heart was filled with sadness, and he walked slowly away. He had failed two times.
—Adapted from The Cop and the Anthem
52. How does the story begin?
A. By giving examples. B. By listing numbers.

①On January 20, 2025, a Chinese tech company named Chinese Hedge Fund High-Flyer made a newAI
called Deepseek. It quickly became the most downloaded free app on the Apple App Store worldwide, followed by
ChatGPT from OpenAI, Gemini from Google, and Liama 2 from Meta.
②This smart program can solve math problems, write code, and answer questions like top models such as
OpenAI’s GPT-40, but it costs much less to build. The company spent only 5.58 million dollars that is 1/70 of
OpenAI’s cost, which shows that good ideas can beat big money.
③ACNBC (Consumer News and Business Channel) report agreed, “Deepseek has swept across the U. S. AI
market, because it can beat American’s best AI with less cost and less-powerful chips (芯片).”
④Usually, AIs need lots of prepared examples to improve. However, Deepseek learns by itself. For example,
when dealing with customer service questions or recognizing images, Deepseek doesn’t need a lot of pre-made
examples like old-style AIs. It just figures things out on its own and does a much better job. Therefore, it can help
run on low-cost computers, helping schools and small companies.
⑤What’s even better for these organizations is that Deepseek is open-source. It’s like a shared recipe (配方).
Everyone can see the ingredients and change it to suit their taste. Likewise, Deepseek users can change the code to
fit their needs without asking anyone for permission (允许). AMeta top scientist said, “This kind of free AI could
change the world.”
⑥These outstanding advantages of Deepseek have attracted widespread attention. More and more
international companies want to partner with Chinese AI labs, making China’s voice in the international AI market
louder. At the same time, many foreign companies plan to put more money in AI research to develop advanced AI
like Deepseek and gain a foot-hold in this popular filed.
⑦DeepSeek as a rising AI star, has a bright future. It can be changed for online shopping and medical
imaging. Working with labs and cloud service providers will make it bigger, and the open-source community will
help too.

The “protege effect”(门徒效应)is a psychological phenomenon (心理学现象). It means
learning better by teaching others. It happens when students do presentations (展示). Students
explain ideas clearly to others, which helps them understand the topic (主题) better. Research
shows that students who make presentations improve more on tests than those who only study
alone.
In Chinese class, middle school
students discuss questions like “Should
phones be allowed in school?” In math
class, they work in groups to build
models or show their research. In history
classes, they share facts about events or
historical buildings like the Great Wall.
In English speech competitions,
students speak in front of others. In
science fairs, they might test how plants

Eric: I read many books in the library and went
through different animal websites. I learned much
about endangered animals and the reasons for their
endangerment. That’s really helpful for my
grow in different light. In clubs, students
share their opinions in talks like “Why
Books Are Fun”.
“Teachers expect students to improve
their confidence and communication
skills by taking part in presentations.”

presentation it is, students need to be very
sure about what they’re going to talk
about in front of others. And that’s the
first step of a good preparation.”

haven’t watched it, you still nod in agreement and say it’s wonderful for sure. In our daily lives, when facing
something unknown, what we hear will influence our opinions about it. To prove this, Sloman did an interesting
experiment (实验).
He found some volunteers for his experiment and they were divided into two groups. He told the volunteers
in Group 1 about a discovery called helium (氦) rain. He told them most people thought it useless. Then he asked
the volunteers to tell how important they thought helium rain was to their daily life, using numbers from 1 to 3 to
show the importance of it. Most volunteers picked the number 1, which meant they thought it not useful at all.
However, he told helium rain to the other group. This time, he mentioned that a number of people believed it could
be of good use in daily life. Most volunteers in this group gave the number 3 to show they thought it could bring
them lots of benefits in many ways.
Sloman finds when others hold a positve view about something, volunteers will think the same. Vice versa
(反之亦然). This will cause the spread of false information and the lack of creativity at work.
Is there a good way to deal with the situation? Sloman thinks we can make it, though it’s hard to check
everything. We are supposed to stay calm before believing something. Not only that, it’s a good idea to check
through different trusted platforms, such as CCTV or the government’s websites, especially in online
communities.
Notes
The article tells us not to ____74____.
In our daily life, when we hear different things, we may hold different opinions. Sloman
used the helium rain experiment to prove this. He divided volunteers into two groups. When
Group 1 were told that helium rain was widely considered useless, they would have the same
idea. But ____75____ they thought it could bring them many benefits. So he finds ____76____
make a big difference to ours.
To deal with the situation, Sloman suggests that ____77___.

48. Which of the following is TRUE according to paragraph 2?
A. The author didn't spend much time dancing.
B. The author used to be a good skateboarder.
C. The author had a car accident two years ago.
D. The author put in a lot of effort to walk again.
