On Jan 12, 2023, Ni Chenzhe gently placed his hands upon the piano keys. Accompanied by the Moscow State Academic Orchestra, his performance of Winter Dreams by Russian composer Tchaikovsky resounded throughout the historic hall of this century-old venue. This extraordinary performance, which perfectly expressed Moscow’s crisp winter chill with a touch of romanticism, led Ni to secure the second prize in the piano category at the Ⅺ International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, giving him even more confidence to continue his journey along the path to piano mastery. Influenced by his father, a music lover, Ni had contact with a variety of musical instruments from a young age. Responding to his strong request, Ni’s parents bought him a piano when he was only six. Two years later, Ni started formal piano education. Everyone who has heard Ni play would readily agree that the teenager’s talent is amazing. Studying abroad at a young age was challenging. Because of the language barrier (障碍), in Ni’s first year in Russia, he had to depend only on English for all his coursework. “Upon arriving in Russia, Ni made great breakthroughs in adapting to the environment. These were the biggest achievements for him,” said his mother. But these challenges never stopped his progress in piano. “I believe that no matter how talented someone is, once they stop learning and stop making an effort, they will become average,” Ni noted. In order to improve his artistic comprehension and insight to offer a richer experience to his listeners, Ni spends his leisure time visiting art exhibitions and actively engaging with various kinds of music. “I’m also very fond of traditional Chinese music. In the future, I hope to find opportunities to learn it more,” he said. 4. What is paragraph 2 mainly about? A. A new piano piece from Tchaikovsky. B. A shining moment of Ni’s path to piano. C. A scene of Moscow’s winter and romance. D. A bright new star in Moscow’s piano world. 5. At what age did Ni begin his formal piano education? A. 6 years old. B. 8 years old. C. 14 years old. D. 15 years old. 6. What do we know about Ni’s studying abroad? A. He thought of giving up studying piano. B. He had difficulty with English coursework. C. He got over various challenges in his study. D. He failed to adapt to the new environment. 7. How can we describe Ni? A He is talented and creative. B. He is determined and romantic. C. He is hard-working and eager to learn. D. He is unsocial and difficult to get along with. C The days are getting longer and the great outdoors is beckoning. Hiking, swimming, riding a bike — these activities are fun and good for you — as long as you protect your skin first. Sunscreen (防晒霜) is necessary for skin protection. But not all sunscreens are the same — in particular, there are differences between chemical sunscreens and mineral (矿物) sunscreens. “Chemical sunscreens have very small amounts of systemic absorption into one’s bloodstream. This finding has drawn lots of attention. However, at this time it is not known whether this amount is problematic,” says Newsom, a dermatologist, who studies and treats skin diseases. Besides, when you swim with sunscreen on, chemicals like oxybenzone will be into the water, where they’re absorbed by coral (珊瑚). They can influence coral’s reproduction and growth cycles, finally leading to bleaching. Lawmakers in Hawaii passed a bill, which went into effect as a law on January 1, 2021. In this bill, the sale of sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate isn’t allowed. Additionally if one has really sensitive skin, chemical sunscreens are more likely to cause a reaction. Mineral sunscreens are not absorbed through the skin and are also safe and effective. Newsom says mineral sunscreens could be referred to as physical sunscreens because they’re a physical blocker. “They’re really, really, good because they reflect the UV while chemical sunscreens absorb the UV,” she explains. Newsom says, “The main thing that people don’t like about mineral sunscreens is that they can go on pretty white, so they don’t spread very well, especially on skin of color. They can create a gray cast that is unappealing and doesn’t look good. But now they have colored mineral sunscreens. So they look kind of like makeup, but they’re not. They don’t give you the coverage of makeup, but they just basically take the white cast out of them. ” 8. What do Newsom’s words in paragraph 2 tell us? A. People know the harm of chemical sunscreens clearly. B. Chemical sunscreens are more popular than mineral ones. C. The benefits of chemical sunscreens have drawn lots of attention. D. A little bit of chemical sunscreens can enter human bloodstream. 9. Why did Hawaii pass the bill? A. To protect coral. B. To promote mineral sunscreens. C. To attract more swimmers. D. To improve their legal system. 10. What is the principle of skin protection for mineral sunscreens? A. Reducing the UV. B. Absorbing the UV. C. Changing the UV. D. Reflecting the UV. 11. What is the problem of mineral sunscreens? A. They fail to go well with makeup. B. They are too white for skin of color. C. They need reapplying every few hours. D. They are used in large quantities at a time. D Few would have expected that viewers at the Beijing Winter Olympics would include animals. And yet, leopard cats (豹猫) certainly appeared in people’s sight. On Jan 31, 90 kilometers northwest of Beijing, a leopard cat was seen walking through an award-ceremony rehearsal. The event caught the attention of volunteers and staff, with many taking photos. Three days later, a Chinese photographer recorded another leopard cat in the woods near the Olympic ski slopes (斜坡). The creature ran past him, jumped over a fence and looked back. Leopard cats are wild animals, slightly larger than house cats, and they mostly keep clear of human activity. However, according to Professor Luo, a keen skier and conservation biologist at Peking University, the continual appearance of the animals close to the ski runs shows that the species has existed continually in this area of high human activity, which is relatively close to Beijing. Strangely, their calm manner suggests they are not frightened by human activity. In the absence of any research data, it is too early to decide that the creation of the Olympic skiing venue (滑雪场) has not affected the surrounding forests and wildlife. However, it’s possible that the wild cats have to some extent already adapted to coexistence with humans, likely because people at the venue have not shown a bad attitude toward the animals since its construction. According to Luo, wild cats are rarely seen so close to big cities. “I think this is a little-known side of Beijing,” says Luo, who is proud that such wildlife can be found so close to the capital city. “Such an event causes me to hope that we can try our best to ensure continued coexistence between wilderness and human settlements.” 12 Which best describes the presence of leopard cats around the venue? A. Unexpected. B. Embarrassing. C. Alarming. D. Common. 13. Which can replace the underlined word “rarely” in the last paragraph? A. Absolutely. B. Legally. C. Hardly. D. Previously. 14. Which of the following may Professor Luo agree with? A. Humans should not list leopard cats as endangered. B. Wildlife needs to be kept away from big cities. C. Wildlife cannot adapt to humans’ lifestyle. D. Humans should live in harmony with wildlife. 15. What is the text? A. A sport review. B. A news report. C. An animal documentary. D. An official announcement. How to become a creative person Anthony Burrill has been exhibiting his work in galleries across the world for over 15 years, finding inspiration in the most unlikely places. Never give up!” chanted two young children, Max and Lily, as they marched barefoot behind their grandmother Mimi who was leading them on a great adventure, straight off the beach where they had spent the day building sand castles and swimming in the sea. They were seeking the mysterious ice-cream truck! Over the years, Mimi had become an example of positivity for her family. It was not a title she earned without effort, however. Her husband died early and at only forty years old she was left to raise her daughter alone. She faced the heart-breaking disaster powerful enough. She could have lived under a black cloud. But she challenged herself to find joy every day instead. She was always up for a new challenge, whether that was hiking across the rocky mountain in Austria to get a better view of the breathtaking scenery, or signing up for tap-dancing classes at fifty. Leading by example, Mimi taught her daughter just how much one could achieve with a positive attitude. And obviously she had taken the same approach in her relationship with her grandchildren as well. Before starting her adventure with Max and Lily on that hot July afternoon, Mimi heard the ice-cream man’s bell from her beach chair. She turned and saw him briefly, spotting his green shirt and catching the sight of his waving bell before he turned and disappeared. The ice-cream man visited the beach on a daily basis, although the delay between the sound of his bell and the disappearance of his truck was not long. One must be quick to catch him. Max and Lily were disappointed when they didn’t catch him in time that day. That was until Mimi’s eyes shone and she said “Never give up!” She explained that the truck might be gone, but they could hurry up to find it at its next stop. They walked block after block. Not knowing which direction the truck had taken, they had to make their best guess about where to search. The kids’ tiny legs were tired, but they went on, continuing the chant, “Never give up! Never give up!” After about twenty minutes of walking, Max’s faith started to get shaken in the burning sun. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Just two blocks later, they found it. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 高一英语 (120分钟 150分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共5小题;每小题1. 5分,满分7. 5分) 听下面5段对话。 根据第二段中“This extraordinary performance, which perfectly expressed Moscow’s crisp winter chill with a touch of romanticism, led Ni to secure the second prize in the piano category at the Ⅺ International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, giving him even more confidence to continue his journey along the path to piano mastery. 根据第三段中“Ni’s parents bought him a piano when he was only six. Two years later, Ni started formal piano education.(倪晨哲的父母在他六岁时给他买了一架钢琴。 根据第四段中“Studying abroad at a young age was challenging. 根据第四段中“I believe that no matter how talented someone is, once they stop learning and stop making an effort, they will become average (我相信,无论一个人多么有天赋,一旦他们停止学习和努力,他们就会变得平庸)”以及最后一段中“In order to improve his artistic comprehension and insight to offer a richer experience to his listeners, Ni spends his leisure time visiting art exhibitions and actively engaging with various kinds of music. C。 C The days are getting longer and the great outdoors is beckoning. D 9. A 10. D 11. 根据第二段中Newsom的话“Chemical sunscreens have very small amounts of systemic absorption into one’s bloodstream. 根据第三段“Besides, when you swim with sunscreen on, chemicals like oxybenzone will be into the water, where they’re absorbed by coral (珊瑚). 故选A项。 根据第四段中“Newsom says mineral sunscreens could be referred to as physical sunscreens because they’re a physical blocker. ‘They’re really, really, good because they reflect the UV while chemical sunscreens absorb the UV,’ she explains. 根据第五段中“Newsom says, ‘The main thing that people don’t like about mineral sunscreens is that they can go on pretty white, so they don’t spread very well, especially on skin of color. “Such an event causes me to hope that we can try our best to ensure continued coexistence between wilderness and human settlements.” 12. Which best describes the presence of leopard cats around the venue? A. Unexpected. B. Embarrassing. C. Alarming. D. Common. 13. Which can replace the underlined word “rarely” in the last paragraph? A. Absolutely. B. Legally. C. Hardly. D. Previously. 14. Which of the following may Professor Luo agree with? A. Humans should not list leopard cats as endangered. B. Wildlife needs to be kept away from big cities. C. Wildlife cannot adapt to humans’ lifestyle. D. Humans should live in harmony with wildlife. 15. What is the text? A. A sport review. B. A news report. C. An animal documentary. D. An official announcement. 12. A 13. C 14. D 15. And yet, leopard cats (豹猫) certainly appeared in people's sight.(几乎没人会想到北京冬奥会的“观众”里会有动物。 故选A。 根据第二段中“Leopard cats are wild animals, slightly larger than house cats, and they mostly keep clear of human activity. 根据最后一段““I think this is a little-known side of Beijing,” says Luo, who is proud that such wildlife can be found so close to the capital city. “Such an event causes me to hope that we can try our best to ensure continued coexistence between wilderness and human settlements. 根据第一段“Few would have expected that viewers at the Beijing Winter Olympics would include animals. And yet, leopard cats (豹猫) certainly appeared in people's sight.(几乎没人会想到北京冬奥会的“观众”里会有动物。 How to become a creative person Anthony Burrill has been exhibiting his work in galleries across the world for over 15 years, finding inspiration in the most unlikely places. That was until Mimi’s eyes shone and she said, “Never give up!” She explained that the truck might be gone, but they could hurry up to find it at its next stop. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 After about twenty minutes of walking, Max’s faith started to get shaken in the burning sun. He wondered out loud, “Maybe we should quit. We have been walking pretty far and haven’t seen the truck yet.” With that, he collapsed, resting his aching legs and rubbing his sore feet. Mimi bent over and patted him gently on the shoulder. Smiling, she comforted the boy, “Max, remember: winners never quit, and quitters never win”. “Yeah! Never give up!” Lily agreed. Max looked up, thought for a while and jumped to his feet. “You are right. Let’s hurry!” And so they marched on. Just two blocks later, they found it. The ice-cream truck was parked just around the corner, shining brilliantly in the sunlight, as if waiting to reward the three adventurers with a most generous treat for their patience and determination. “Finally!” Max cried at this sight, throwing a fist in the air, while Lily screamed with excitement. They laughed, cheered, and chanted in chorus, “Never give up!” In that magical moment, Mimi turned that phrase into a battle cry for the children. They would be ready for any challenges upon hearing these words. So never give up; your ice cream truck may be just a block away. 弯腰:bend over / bend down ②.前进:march on/go forward ③.为……做准备:be ready for/ prepare for 情绪类 ①.激动的:with excitement / be excited ②.
