These days, playgrounds in many American schools look quite different from what they used to be. In the past, schools often used asphalt(沥青)for playgrounds. But now, many schools are planting trees and grass to create cool areas for kids. Why is this happening?
Research shows that playing in hot asphalt playgrounds can make kids get burned or sick more easily. For example, in Los Angeles, the temperature on asphalt playgrounds can reach up to 63℃ in late spring and summer! Kids become weaker in such hot weather because their bodies don't cool down as fast as adults' do, causing them to lose water more quickly.
To solve the problem, many schools have come up with great ideas. In Arizona, when it is too hot, schools ask kids to stop doing outdoor activities. They also provide water stations and even prepare ice baths to help kids stay cool. At a school in Atlanta, teachers and students painted the basketball court with special paint that can reflect(反射)sunlight. Guess what? Its temperature dropped by 5.5℃! Los Angeles did something amazing——they turned 28 asphalt playgrounds into green spaces for both schools and local communities(当地社区). Some schools also put up tents in the playgrounds so that kids can stay away from the heat(高温). So far, over 350 schools across the US have made their playgrounds greener with plants.
Green playgrounds are getting more popular because they change hot and dangerous arca s into cool and safe places for learning and having fun. This way, outdoor activities are still an important part of school life. Even small changes can make a big difference!

I went on a study trip to the Mutianyu Great Wall last weekend. The Mutianyu Great Wall, about 5,400 meters long, is the longest part of the Great Wall and a symbol of Chinese culture.
During the trip, we had a great time. First, we listened to stories about the Great Wall and learned how ancient people built it with great skills and hard work. Then, we tried making bricks ourselves. It was both fun and challenging. Finally, we picked up rubbish to help keep the Great Wall clean and beautiful.
This unforgettable trip made me feel proud of our country's history and culture. It also taught me the importance of protecting this world treasure. I believe that by working together, we can make sure the Great Wall stays a wonder in the future.
