This smart program can solve math problems, write code, and answer questions like top models such as OpenAI’s GPT-40, but it costs much less to build. The team spent only $5.58 million (1/70 of OpenAI’s cost) and used 2,048 computer chips for two months. This shows that good ideas can beat big money. DeepSeek-R1 learns by trying many times and getting better, like how students practice maths. Other AIs need lots of prepared examples, but RI improves by itself. For example, in a global math test, it got 79.8% right, slightly higher than OpenAI’s model. A simple version of R1 can even run on low cost computers, helping schools and small companies. DeepSeek-R1 is free to use and change. On its first day online, over 19,000 programmers worldwide started projects to study it. A German scientist said experiments with R1 cost $10 instead of $300 with other AIs. Even Meta (a famous U.S. tech company) top scientist said, “This kind of free AI could change the world.” U.S. tech-companies are worried. Meta plans to spend $65 billion more on AI research. Experts say China is catching up fast. A report in Nature magazine called R1 a “big step forward”, proving that smart ideas beat expensive tools. As a DeepSeek engineer said, “We want AI to be a friend, not something only rich people can use.” With R1, China shows the world that great things come from new ideas and hard work, not just money. 42.What is the main purpose of the article? A.To compare Chinese and American AI technologies. B.To introduce a low-cost AI model from China. C.To explain how computer chips work. D.To encourage students to become programmers. 43.How much did it cost to train DeepSeek-R1? A.$5.58 million. B.$65 billion. C.$10. D.$300. 44.What does the writer think is the most important for success? A.Having enough money. B.Creativity and hard work. C.Using the latest computer chips. D.Copying other countries’ ideas. 45.Why does the engineer say, “We want AI to be a friend, not something only rich people can use”? A.To criticize expensive AI models. B.To explain why R1 is free. Lilliputians soon began to lose their fear of me. They called me the Man-Mountain. Sometimes I lay down and let them dance on my hand, and from time to time children came to play games in my hair. By now I was able to speak their language well. One day the King invited me to watch the regular entertainments, which are greatly enjoyed by him, his family, and his lords and ladies. I was most interested in the rope-dancing. A very thin rope is fixed thirty centimeters above the ground. People who want to become the King’s most important officials jump and dance on this rope, and whoever jumps highest without falling gets the best job. Sometimes the King orders his lords to dance on the rope, to show that they can still do it. This sport is, of course, rather dangerous, and there are occasional (偶尔的) deaths as a result. It seems a strange way of choosing officials. There was another interesting entertainment. The King holds a stick in front of him, and sometimes moves it up and down. One by one, people come up to him and jump over the stick or crawl under it. They go on jumping and crawling as the King moves the stick. The winner is the one who jumps and crawls for the longest time, and he receives a blue ribbon (缎带) to wear round his waist. The second best receives a red ribbon, and the third best gets a green one. Many of the Lilliput lords wear their ribbons proudly at all times. I had certainly never seen entertainment like this in any of the countries I had visited before. —Adapted from Gulliver’s Travels 根据短文内容回答问题(每小题答案不超过10个单词)。 56.What did Lilliputians call the writer? 57.How high is the thin rope fixed above the ground? 58.Why do people dance on the rope? 59.Did people jump over the stick one by one or together? 60.How did Lilliput lords feel when wearing their ribbons? 【答案】56.The Man-Mountain. 57.It is thirty centimeters. 58.Because they wanted to become the King’s most important officials. 59.They jumped one by one. 60.They felt proud. 【导语】本文节选自《格列佛游记》,讲述了格列佛在小人国观看的两个娱乐活动。 56.根据第一段“Lilliputians soon began to lose their fear of me. Even today, it’s a city that many business people travel through. An important part of the Great Wall was also built here. After that, we went on to Yumenguan. I first found out about Yumenguan in the famous poem written by Wang Zhihuan. It was in the Gobi Desert and was the only connection between Central Asia and China. C.To compare RI with Meta’s AI. D.To encourage students to study math. 第Ⅱ卷(非选择题 共60分) 四、词汇运用(共10小题;每小题1分,计10分) 根据句子意思,用括号中所给汉语提示或英语单词的适当形式填空。在答题卡标有题号的横线上,写出空缺处所填单词的正确形式。(每空一词) 46.Do you think manners here are to ours? 六、缺词填空(共10空;每空1分,计10分) 根据短文内容和首字母提示,在下文空格处填入适当的词使短文完整,完整地写出空缺处各单词的正确形式。(每空一词) The three girls were very kind to us.
