Time flies when you play on your smartphone. But when you sit down to work and study, an hour feels like a year. ________
It is all because of something small called dopamine (多巴胺) which is a “pleasure chemical” that makes people feel good. Our brains release it when we eat yummy food, after we exercise or when we are praised.
Compared with studying, eating chocolate can make your brain release 150% more dopamine, and exercising for 30 minutes raises it by 200%. But playing on smartphones creates much more dopamine. For example, watching short videos gives a 250% increase, and checking new messages makes dopamine jump by 400%—much higher than studying. But why?
When we go through social media, we don’t know what we’ll see next, or who will follow our posts. This uncertainty makes the dopamine active. Studying doesn’t provide such uncertainty. Without the excitement of “gambling (赌博)”, we get bored much more easily.
Can we do something to change that? According to a research, apps can become less attractive if we turn off notifications or change the screen colors to black and white. We can also set time limits on apps to avoid overusing them.
As for studying, you could check your progress daily or weekly and reward (奖赏) yourself for it. You could also explore interesting topics related to your textbook. Use what you’ve learned to make a difference in the real world. This will make knowledge much more interesting to learn.
31. Which of the following can be put in “________”?
A. Why is studying so important for our brains
B. Why is using a smartphone the best way to improve study
C. Why are we so fond of smartphones but easily bored by studying
D. Why are we so easy to be tired of using smartphones
32. What does the underline word “release” mean in the passage?
A. recycle B. operate C. produce D. attract
33. Which of the following picture shows the level of dopamine increase?
A. B.
C. D.
34. Which of the following way can help to make study more fun?
①Turn the screen color to black and white
②Spend more time on social media to relax.
③Set small goals and reward yourself after finishing them.
④Keep phone notifications on to stay connected.
⑤Connect textbook lessons to real-life problems.
A. ①② B. ③⑤ C. ①③ D. ④⑤
35. What can be the best title for the passage?
A. The Fun-Thief of Study: Dopamine B. How to Stay Away from Social Media
C. The History of Dopamine Discovery D. Best Study Methods for Students

The marathon (马拉松) is a famous long-distance race with a history of over 2,500 years. Its name comes from an ancient Greek story. A soldier ran from Marathon to Athens (雅典) to share news of a victory. Today, marathons are held worldwide, and follow a standard distance (标准距离) of 42.195 kilometers. There are full marathon, half marathon and shorter fun runs (like 5K or 10K). People can choose as they like.
Modern marathons welcome professional runners beginners, and even wheelchair athletes. For most people, it’s not about winning but about trying their best. Training takes months of running, exercise, and healthy eating. Many runners say sticking to (坚持) the training plan is harder than the race itself.
In China, marathons are now popular across the country: Big cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Xiamen hold exciting races every year. The Beijing Marathon, first held in 1981, now attracts over 30,000 runners every year. The Shanghai Marathon has a beautiful route along the Huangpu River, while the Xiamen Marathon is known for its seaside views. Even small towns are joining in. In 2023, a marathon in a mountain village in Guizhou invited farmers and students to run through terraced fields (梯田), mixing sports with local culture.
These events aim to get people to exercise and help local development. In the Guangzhou Marathon, families run together in “parent-child races”, and older runners over 70 wear bright ribbons (彩带) to show their energy. Finishing the race, no matter the time, makes everyone proud. Let’s start running together!

【答案】31. C 32. C 33. B 34. B 35. A
【解析】

【32题详解】
词句猜测题 。根据“which is a ‘pleasure chemical’ that makes people feel good. Our brains release it when we eat yummy food, after we exercise or when we are praised.”
根据“eating chocolate can make your brain release 150% more dopamine, and exercising for 30 minutes raises it by 200%”及“watching short videos gives a 250% increase, and checking new messages makes dopamine jump by 400%”可知,吃巧克力多巴胺增加150%,运动增加200%,看短视频增加250%,查看新消息增加400%。故选B。
【34题详解】
细节理解题。根据“As for studying, you could check your progress daily or weekly and reward (奖赏) yourself for it. You could also explore interesting topics related to your textbook. Use what you’ve learned to make a difference in the real world. This will make knowledge much more interesting to learn.”
故选A。

The marathon (马拉松) is a famous long-distance race with a history of over 2,500 years. Its name comes from an ancient Greek story. A soldier ran from Marathon to Athens (雅典) to share news of a victory. Today, marathons are held worldwide, and follow a standard distance (标准距离) of 42.195 kilometers. There are full marathon, half marathon and shorter fun runs (like 5K or 10K). People can choose as they like.
Modern marathons welcome professional runners, beginners, and even wheelchair athletes.
