Australia’s island state of Tasmania has an online platform (平台) for what it calls “Odd Jobs” — a number of jobs that are not commonly found. By far, the cutest job is from one of the island’s wildlife parks, asking for a one-day “wombat (毛鼻袋熊) walker”.
East Coast Nature world is home to a variety of famous Australian animals, such as kangaroos, Tasmanian devils and possums. It’s also home to a number of wombats — a small, bear-like animal that’s native to Australia. And the park is looking for someone to help look after the park’s wombats by taking them out for a morning walk. The park says wombats need a daily morning walk to keep them happy and healthy during the winter months.
As well as going for a walk with the wombats, part of the wombat walker’s job will be to make sure the animals actually wake up for it. This is because, according to the park, some of the wombats would sometimes rather have a sleep-in. Other responsibilities include giving the wombats snacks during the walk, and making sure they show good behavior by stopping them from chasing birds. Anyone who wants to apply for the job must be kind, patient, and love’ animals.
4. What is the online platform used for?
A. Sharing fun stories. B. Organizing exciting activities.
C. Posting unusual jobs. D. Discussing daily life.
5. What is important for a wombat to be healthy in winter according to the park?
A. Taking enough food. B. Taking a morning walk.
C. Staying in a warm place. D. Being with other kinds of animals.
6. What is a wombat allowed to do during the walk?
A. Eat snacks. B. Chase birds.

Many technology companies are joining the generative AI trend (生成式人工智能趋势) and showing off new features that say they will help us live better and work better.
Before using AI, I didn’t trust it. Since I am a reporter, truth and accuracy (准确) are pretty important to what I do. But what if I can use AI tools in a way that helps me do it better? Isn’t that what big technology companies are promising? So, I decided to give it a real try.
On the first day, I started it by brain dumping (倾倒) all the things I wanted to finish. This included work tasks related to story ideas and life tasks like doing laundry, and doing yoga.
I told AI tool — Gemini that I worked from 9 am to 6 pm. It had me do work tasks before 9 am, without any advice on when to finish certain tasks, only suggesting I should start the yoga and writing in the evening if that works better for me.
Another AI tool — ChatGPT, by contrast, gave me a useful schedule based on how to best use my creative energy. After dealing with a news story to start the day, it suggested a clear time block for my longer story in the early afternoon, since it’s a good period to focus deeply on research or writing without the fatigue that can come later in the day. It even recommended getting the laundry going before I write in my long story since it can run in the background.
With my ChatGPT-planned schedule in place every morning, I felt more organized and relaxed about the day. It became immediately clear that ChatGPT was to become my go-to for the rest of the week.
8. What was the author’s attitude towards AI before using it?
A. Positive. B. Doubtful. C. Uncaring. D. Unclear.
9. Why did the author decide to try AI?
A. To show his advanced idea. B. To help big technology companies.
C. To give himself time for relaxation. D. To get his work improved.
10. What’s the advantage of ChatGPT over Gemini according to the author?
A. It is free. B. It works faster.
C. It can completely finish his tasks. D. It offers more detailed and useful advice.
11. What does the underlined word “fatigue” in paragraph 5 mean?
A. Tiredness. B. Energy. C. Trouble. D. Success.
【答案】8. B 9. D 10. D 11. A

A well-preserved ancient stone arch bridge(石拱桥)dating back to the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644)has been uncovered in Songxi county, East China’s Fujian Province.

第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
As a young child, I used to have no confidence in myself. Even when I was in the sixth grade, I still couldn’t ride a bike smoothly, a skill that many of my friends had mastered at a younger age. It made me feel like a slow learner, and the more I compared myself to others, the more I felt hopeless.
However, my elder brother Bob, who was always my source of inspiration and support, noticed my problem. He believed that I could get over this challenge, and he offered to help me learn how to ride a bike. At first, I was doubtful, thinking that I couldn’t master it. But Bob’s trust in me finally convinced (说服) me.
One day, we decided to go to a small slope (斜坡) near my home. Bob believed that it could make it easier for me to learn to ride. As we walked towards the slope, he kept encouraging me, “It’s not as hard as you think. You just need to get on and give it a try.”
Once we reached the slope, Bob first explained the basic rules of riding a bike and the importance of keeping balance. Then he helped me onto the bike and gave me a gentle push. All at once, I felt the wind rushing past me as I started rolling down the slope. My heart was a mixture of excitement and fear. I couldn’t focus on keeping my balance or keeping the bike in the right direction so my first try ended in hitting into the bushes (灌木丛) beside the slope unluckily. It was too much pain. As I stood up from the ground, the thought of giving up came flooding my heart.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Just at that moment, Bob rushed over.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
With such encouragement, I pulled myself together and biked again.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
Just at that moment, Bob rushed over. “Are you OK?” He asked worriedly, helping me clean my clothes. I nodded, trying not to cry out. “Everyone falls when they’re learning to ride a bike. Just try again and you’ll make it.” He kept encouraging me. Then he picked up the bike, helping me push the bike onto the top of the slope. He prepared me for the second try, and said, “Just be more careful and focused. I’m sure you can do it.”
With such encouragement, I pulled myself together and biked again. As I kept trying, I found that only by letting go of my nervousness could I keep my body balanced. The more relaxed I was, the farther I rode and the more confident I became. Finally I completely mastered the skill of riding a bike. As I turned the bike around and rode back up to Bob, I could see the pride in his eyes. Thanks to my great brother, I was able to ride a bike! It was he who helped me gain confidence in myself.

Australia’s island state of Tasmania has an online platform (平台) for what it calls “Odd Jobs” — a number of jobs that are not commonly found. By far the cutest job is from one of the island’s wildlife parks, asking for a one-day “wombat (毛鼻袋熊) walker”.
C. Have a good sleep. D. Climb up a tree.

A. Tiredness. B. Energy. C. Trouble. D. Success.
D
A well-preserved ancient stone arch bridge(石拱桥)dating back to the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644)has been uncovered in Songxi county, East China’s Fujian Province.
The finding occurred during a survey at the place in Songxi, according to He Lixing, a special officer who protects the area’s history. “The bridge had been left alone for about 50 or 60 years, but its structure is unique,” he said.
The bridge features one stone arch, with flat stones stacked(堆叠)on top of each other. It is 4.2 meters wide, 5. 1 meters tall, and 7.4 meters long. The arch is curved in a U-shape, and the ends of the bridge slope down to the south and north at an angle of over 30 degrees, making the bridge look like an S-shape over the stream.
A stone tablet(石碑)near the bridge shows the names of people who built it and paid for it, and it says the bridge was built 389 years ago.
“This bridge was made to go along with the natural land shape. It is well-protected, making it significant for studying ancient stone arch bridge construction techniques and historical transportation,” said Xiong Yuliang, head of the Songxi County Heritage Protection Center. “It holds historical and cultural value, and we have registered it as a significant heritage site in our survey.”
People from the village said that old paths, which are still partly there, connect to this bridge, leading toward two other old bridges nearby — one dating back to the Yuan Dynasty(1279—1368)and the other to the Song Dynasty(960—1279), both of which remain in relatively good condition.
12. What led to the discovery of the stone arch bridge?
A. The old paths. B. A survey. C. A stone tablet. D. A villager’s report.
13. What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us about the stone arch bridge?
A. What it looks like. B. When it was discovered.
C. Why it is well-preserved. D. Where its material came from.
14. Why does finding the stone arch bridge hold importance according to Xiong Yuliang?
A. It helps learn the natural land shape.
B. It offers clues for finding its builders.
C. It provides convenience for today’s transportation.
D. It contributes to the study of ancient bridge-building skills.
15. What is the best title for the text?
A. Modern Stone Arch Bridges.
B. An Amazing Discovery in Cultural Relics.
C Stone Arch Bridges in Different Dynasties.
D. An Old Stone Arch Bridge Discovered in Fujian.

47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整短文。
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Just at that moment, Bob rushed over.
