Writing 1
(2024-2025高二上·山东师范大学附属中学·期中)“Never give up! Never give up!” chanted (吟诵) my two young children, Max and Charley, as they marched barefoot behind their grandmother Mia. They had just left the beach, where they had spent the day building sand castles and splashing in the waves. Now, Mia was leading Max and Charley on another adventure: They were seeking the ice-cream truck, which was always difficult to find.
Over the years, Mia had become our family’s symbol of positivity. It was not a title she earned without effort, however. When my dad died, Mia was only forty years old and was left to raise me and my ten-year-old brother alone. She experienced a deeply sad event that could easily make anyone feel significantly less happy. She had been the one who had to make the decision to remove our dad from life support fourteen days after he died in a car accident.
My mom could have lived under a black cloud. Instead, she challenged herself to find joy every day. She was always up for a new challenge, whether that was hiking across the steep (陡峭的), rocky road of a mountaintop in Austria to get a better view of the breathtaking landscape, or signing up for tap-dancing classes at fifty. Leading by example, Mom taught us just how much one could achieve with a positive attitude.
She has taken the same approach in her relationship with her grandchildren. Before starting her adventure with Max and Charley on that hot July afternoon, Mia heard the familiar clang (叮当声) of the ice-cream man’s bell from her beach chair. She turned and saw him briefly, spotting his green shirt and catching the gleam of his waving bell before he turned and disappeared over the dunes (沙丘). But you need to be fast because he doesn’t stay for very long after you hear his bell.

(2024-2025高二上·浙江六校联盟·期中) When I was a little girl, I knew that I had a gift for music. Playing was my love. While most kids were outside in the burning summer sun, playing childish games, I was happy to sit in the cool indoors for hours practicing my beloved piano. When I played, I felt like I was in a whole new world where I was free and easy. All I had to worry about was my music. Playing was never boring for me.
I had spent months practicing and the big day finally came. It was the day of the Alberta Music Competition. The music hall was packed with excited audience. I sat in the first row with my mother seated beside me. As the fellow competitors were playing. I couldn’t keep my mind on their music. I was just memorizing the notes and practising the fingerings. I had known my music was like the back of my hand. But this time, to my great surprise, I found my fingers completely out of my control. They kept shaking. I nearly burst into tears. Seeing this, mom held my hands tightly in hers. She even breathed into them as if she wanted to warm them up. Then she whispered to my ear, “Sweetie, take it easy. Just listen and enjoy the music.”
I looked up and turned my attention to the competitor in the center of the stage for the first time. A thin and tall boy was sitting at the beautiful red piano. He looked calm and confident. His fingertips danced on the keyboard. The soft and gentle sound of the piano flew in the air. For a moment, I totally forgot my nervousness.

(2024-2025高二上·重庆第一中学校·期中)Mary felt down after her beloved grandma passed away one month ago. Losing her grandma felt like losing a part of herself. Swallowed by sadness, Mary was unable to find her motivation or direction in life. The vibrant girl she used to be seemed to have vanished. The only thing that lingered in her mind was what her grandma had told her before she passed: “Even in the darkest times, there’s always a guiding star, like the North Star (北极星), which can always navigate you.”
One day, while enjoying a cup of coffee at a local cafe, Mary’s friend Jenny approached her with an exciting idea. “Mary, have you ever thought about stargazing (观星) in the wilderness?” Jenny asked, her eyes shining with excitement. Mary’s eyes widened, and a smile spread across her face. “Stargazing? That sounds incredible! Count me in.” she exclaimed, her voice filled with expectation.
The plan was set for a cool evening when the sky would be at its clearest. They began their journey from Mary’s house. As they walked hand in hand, their breath turned into misty clouds in the cool night air. The moon was hidden behind thick clouds, casting a darkness on their path. But instead of feeling scared, they felt a rush of excitement washing over them. The stillness of the night, broken only by the soft whispers of the wind, brought a newfound peace to their mind.
Little by little, the city lights faded, and the stars above became increasingly obvious. They couldn’t help but feel amazed by the countless stars that decorated the sky. They decided not to choose the well-known path and wandered deeper into the wilderness. Fireflies (萤火虫) danced gracefully, lighting up the night sky.
Absorbed in chats and laughter, they failed to notice when the familiar sights started to disappear, slowly getting swallowed by the tall trees of the forest.

Writing 4
(2024-2025高二上·重庆七校·期中)One Saturday, a sixteen-year-old boy named Tom was hanging out with his friends at a local cafe. Tom and his friends would usually spend the entire weekend together, before meeting again the following week while in school.
That day, Tom’s mom Gina wanted to change up his routine by inviting him to watch a new superhero movie with her. Gina kept calling Tom on his cellphone, but he wouldn’t pick up. So, she decided to make her way to the cafe where Tom was.
When she spotted Tom and his friends, she made her way to them, only to see Tom’s friends giggling. “Your grandmother’s come to pick you up, Tom!” they teased. Tom glared (怒视) at his mother and walked up to her to stop her from going any closer. “What are you doing here?” he blamed her. “You’re embarrassing me in front of my friends!”
“I just wanted to ask if you wanted to watch a movie with me,” she smiled , trying to hold his hand. Tom shrugged off her hands. “Leave me alone! I’m with my friends!” he told her.
Gina walked back home sadly. When Tom got home that night, it was already half past eleven. He went straight to his room, not even realizing Gina was in the living room.
“What’s the matter, Tom?” Gina asked him. “Why is it that you don’t like being with me anymore? I’m worried about you, Tom. I rarely know what’s going on in your life!” she said.
“You’re such an old, boring woman! Why did you even give birth to me?!” he yelled. Gina felt a pain in her chest. Before she could respond, Tom grabbed his backpack and ran out the door.
“Tom!” Gina called out. Tom rode on his bike and left the street. Gina tried calling out and chasing after him, but he was too fast. Then, she fainted(晕到) in front of one of her neighbor’s houses.

【2025全国1卷】My wife and I wanted to share our new home with family and friends by hosting a small gathering in the early summer. She had prepared lots of snacks, while my job was to have the backyard in order.
There was plenty of space for the kids to run and play. There was just one thing I hadn’t counted on: My brother chose to bring his dog Toby, a 50-pound ball of fire. Though friendly, he could easily knock over my niece’s small boys and my six-month-old granddaughter. So, when my brother showed up, I asked him to watch Toby and keep him outside.
My plan was working out just fine. Toby was using up his energy by running back and forth in the backyard and giving the kids plenty of room. Unexpectedly, after supper, the weather changed. It started to rain and everyone went indoors.
It was an awkward moment. I didn’t want Toby to be running around in the house, and my brother wasn’t happy with driving home with a wet dog. Eventually, my brother decided to leave rather than force the issue.
A few days passed, and I hadn’t heard anything from my brother. I texted him and expressed wishes for him to come out again. His reply came as a surprise — a shock, actually: “Not a chance.” Clearly, he was unhappy over the way we had parted. After all, I had left him little choice. Well, he’ll get over it, I reasoned.
Two months passed. My wife suggested I get in touch with my brother, but I resisted, thinking he should call first. However, my conscience (良心) kept bothering me. I tried to put myself in my brother’s shoes. He was facing health issues and his wife of thirty-five years had passed away a few months earlier. Toby was his constant companion, the one who kept him going.

【2025新课标ⅠⅠ卷】“What is your name? ” is a question most frequently asked when people meet for the first time. But for me, it was the first challenge I encountered as an international student in Ireland.
The pronunciation system of the Chinese language is quite different from that of English. For native speakers of English, some Chinese words are rather difficult to pronounce. My given name Qiuyu (秋雨), for instance, happened to be a great challenge for many of them. Every time I gave a self-introduction, I had to explain how to pronounce my name at least five times, yet they still could not say it the way I did.
Once in a lecture, the professor tried repeating my name after me over and over in front of thirty classmates. I really did not know whether I should continue correcting him or simply drop the matter. I feared that my classmates might grow tired of my efforts or even lose patience with me. After all, I did care about how others would think of me. I realized that if I didn’t stop, the entire lecture would be ruined. “It’s okay, professor,” I shrugged (耸肩). The awkward moment ended with the class erupting into laughter. I forced a smile, unsure how to respond further.
After that incident, I stopped acting as a “Chinese teacher.” Instead of correcting others when they were struggling to pronounce my name, I just smiled and nodded approvingly. This approach spared me the discomfort of having to over-explain. However, I soon found that by doing so, I might be losing something more important: the opportunity to share a small part of my cultural identity.

【2024新课标ⅠⅠ卷】I met Gunter on a cold, wet and unforgettable evening in September. I had planned to fly to Vienna and take a bus to Prague for a conference. Due to a big storm, my flight had been delayed by an hour and a half. I touched down in Vienna just 30 minutes before the departure of the last bus to Prague. The moment I got off the plane, I ran like crazy through the airport building and jumped into the first taxi on the rank without a second thought.
That was when I met Gunter. I told him where I was going but he said he hadn't heard of the bus station. I thought my pronunciation was the problem, so I explained again more slowly, but he still looked confused. When I was about to give up, Gunter fished out his little phone and rang up a friend. After a heated discussion that lasted for what seemed like a century, Gunter put his phone down and started the car.
Finally, with just two minutes to spare we rolled into the bus station. Thankfully, there was a long queue (队列) still waiting to board the bus. Gunter parked the taxi behind the bus, turned around, and looked at me with a big smile on his face. "We made it," he said.
Just then I realised that I had zero cash in my wallet. I flashed him an apologetic smile as I pulled out my Portuguese bankcard. He tried it several times, but the card machine just did not play along. A feeling of helplessness washed over me as I saw the bus queue thinning out.
At this moment, Gunter pointed towards the waiting hall of the bus station. There, at the entrance, was a cash machine. I jumped out of the car, made a mad run for the machine, and popped my card in, only to read the message: "Out of order. Sorry."

【2024浙江1月卷】Eva spent the first week of high school trying to keep her head above water. One of the major headaches for her was finding her way in the huge school building. It was a six-story building. On each floor, hallways stretched in four directions, leading to classrooms, laboratories, and teachers’ offices. Somewhere in the building, there was also a library, a cafeteria, and a gym.
Having a poor sense of direction, Eva found it impossible to get around in such a huge building. All the different hallways and rooms were too much to think about, let alone commit to memory. She decided that she would memorize where her classes were and then pretend that the rest of the place didn’t exist.
In her first PE class, Eva was shocked when Coach Pitt announced that everyone had to run one mile around the track outside. She searched the faces of her classmates for signs of panic. There was nothing she feared more than having to run a whole mile. To Eva, “a mile” was used to describe long distances. It was ten miles from her home to her grandfather’s, and that always seemed like a long way, even in a car!
When Coach Pitt blew his whistle (哨子), Eva figured she would be left in the dust. However, while some of her classmates edged ahead, others actually fell behind. ” It’s just the beginning, “she thought.” I’ll come in last for sure. “
Soon Eva began to breathe hard, with her heart pounding and legs shaking. Feeling desperate, Eva started using a mind trick on herself. She stopped thinking about the word” mile. “Instead, she focused on reaching the shadow cast on the track by an oak tree up ahead. Then she concentrated on jogging to the spot where the track curved (拐弯). After that, she tried to see if she could complete her first lap. One lap turned into two, then three, then four.

(2024-2025·广东八校联盟·高二上教学质量检测)Catherine had stayed at home all her life to look after her three children, but now, she, who lost her husband in a car accident, had to step out and earn money to make ends meet. With zero work experience and no professional degree, her chances of getting hired for a well-paid job were next to zero.
One day, after dropping her children at school, Catherine spotted a construction site (工地). “I think I can work here,” she thought and walked close to the manager.
“Hi, are you hiring (雇佣)? ” she asked. “Yes, we are,” the manager looked at Catherine from head to toe.“Are you sure you can work here? This job requires a lot of hard work.” “I’m ready for it,” she told the manager and signed a contract (合同) to work a 12-hour shift (轮班). However, Catherine kept her new job a secret from her children. She thought they would feel embarrassed after learning their mother worked at a construction site.
Every morning, after dropping her children to school, she would go to the construction site and work until her shift ended. She would pick up heavy bricks (砖块) on her shoulder to transport them from one part of the site to the other. One evening, Catherine’s son, Peter, told her about an upcoming competition in school that required mothers to join. In the competition, students would wear blindfolds (眼罩) and have to recognize their mothers without looking at them. “That sounds like such a cool event, Peter!” Catherine said excitedly. “I can’t wait for it!” “I won’t go there with you, mom,” Peter replied. “But why?” What her son said next was something Catherine wasn’t prepared to hear.
“Mom, I would have to touch your hands to recognize you, and everyone would look at them,” Peter explained. “Your hands are so ugly. They’re so hard and rough,” he added. “I will feel so embarrassed when my classmates look at your hands,” the boy said. “I won’t attend the event.” Catherine felt terrible but couldn’t say anything in her defense.

(2024-2025·河南豫北名校·高二上9月联考)When One Thing Goes Wrong But Everything Else Goes So Right
We recently moved to a new town, and I was at the local grocery store with my baby, getting some things for the house. As we were heading back to the car with our purchases, I noticed another mother with her teenage son happily walking to their car, which was parked in the next aisle (过道). The next few events all happened over a very short stretch of time.
As I was loading my groceries into our car and tending to my little baby, I heard a sudden very loud screaming and crying. I had no idea what could have happened so quickly, but it appeared that the teenage boy had somehow become seriously injured. His mom was holding him in a desperate hug while he was sobbing, and when she took her hand away from him for a moment, I saw some blood.
The mother of the injured boy was clearly in shock and couldn’t do anything besides holding her son, who had stopped yelling but was still shaking and crying. I really wanted to be of help, but I was also trying to attend my little one who half stood from the grocery cart seat, so I couldn’t get there immediately.
Just then, another woman came striding (大步) over in a full-steam-ahead speed walk. She immediately jumped into action, demanding the facts from the mother. She was just direct and to the point in a way that was necessary to cut through the panic in an urgent situation.
They quickly decided to call 911, and the woman was all over it, telling the emergency responders everything they needed to know. She did everything exactly right that you’re supposed to do in an emergency, giving clear directions to the ambulance driver. It was actually amazing to witness her confidence under pressure.

(2024-2025·湖南永州·高二上1月期末)Lynn sighed as she tried to remove the dirt on her brand-new California Vibes T-shirt. Her annoying sister, April, had completely ruined (毁坏) her nice Saturday morning.
Couldn’t a super-busy teenage girl get some rest from a continuously-working week? OK, maybe Lynn had pushed April onto the table, spilling juice everywhere onto the floor, and maybe her mom had blamed April for what happened and didn’t give April time to explain. Being unfairly treated, April was in a stormy mood. To pay her back, she “accidentally” spilled a bowl of jelly (果冻) onto Lynn, ruining Lynn’s new T-shirt. And just last week, April had secretly poured sticky glue on Lynn’s seat in class. Lynn couldn’t have been happier to see her sister suffer.
This chain of payback and tricks had been going on forever between the two girls ever since there had been too much stress (endless homework, mountainous tests, and many more) in eighth grade.
One day, as Lynn thought about all this, she couldn’t help feeling a bit sad, remembering the joyous days when the two girls were small, they challenged themselves to climb a pretty steep and high rock at the back of their house inside a small wood. And when they struggled to get to the top together, they would have “conquered the world”. They felt they were at the top of the world. What a happy memory!
She sighed again and gave up trying to rub the jelly on her shirt. Perhaps... it was time to stop having a world war with her sister.
So, Lynn changed into a new shirt, took a deep breath and knocked on her sister’s door.
April opened the door hesitantly and Lynn entered the room quickly. April looked confused for a second wondering why her sister was here. Somehow, she seemed to sense her sister wanted to do something about their displeasure.

(2024-2025·陕西西安新城区·高二上期中)Once upon a time, there was a young woman named Lily who lived in a small town on the outskirts of a busy city. Ever since she was a little girl, Lily had been interested in the art of public speaking. She would watch famous speeches on television and was amazed at the way the speakers could hold an audience attracted with their words. Even as a young girl, she knew that she wanted to do the same someday.
As Lily grew older, her passion for public speaking only enhanced. She read books and attended workshops to learn everything she could about the subject. She practiced speaking in front of mirrors and even recorded herself to analyze her delivery and improve her technique.
However, despite all of her hard work, Lily found herself struggling to connect with her audience. Her words were great and well-rehearsed (反复排练过的), but she felt that something was missing. It wasn’t until she came across a TED talk on body language that everything clicked into place.
In the talk, the speaker discussed how our body language can convey just as much information as our words, sometimes even more so. A confident posture (姿势) and relaxed facial expression can signal confidence and certainty, while moving your body constantly or avoiding eye contact can reveal nervousness or discomfort. This realization led Lily to study body language and its impact on communication. Armed with this new knowledge, Lily began practicing her own body language skills and studying the techniques of other great speakers. She watched videos of famous speeches and analyzed how the speakers used their bodies to emphasize key points and connect with their audience. She practiced making eye contact and using hand gestures (手势) to emphasize important ideas.
One day, Lily was invited to speak at a conference in front of a large audience. She had prepared her speech thoroughly and felt confident in her content, but she was nervous about how she would behave on stage.

(2024-2025·浙江强基联盟·高二上联考)I don’t like running. Running is a stumbling block on my way. As an extremely sedentary-person, I’m greatly envious of those coral reef creatures that sit in one spot their entire life. I’m out here working for my food, while the ocean basically has free food 24/7.
Still, I went into the 7-mile course with no training, accompanied by my old friend Abel. This guy bikes and runs countless miles, often in the same day. And he has done dozens of Spartan Races (斯巴达勇士赛), which are courses that require you to crawl through mud, flip tires and throw spears.
We’ve been taken part in the race almost every year since we were in senior high. I peaked about 15 years ago but my athletic performance has been steadily declining ever since.
That wasn’t enough of a challenge for Abel. When I messaged him chat to let him know what time I’d pick him up Saturday morning, he said he didn’t need a ride. He was going to ride his pedals there.
He set out in the dark at 4 a. m, to meet us at 10 a. m. We arrived at almost exactly the same time. After biking for hours, he stretched a bit, then beat me by nine minutes in a7-mile run. He’s probably not even sore today.
As for me, I did better than I thought I would. Between miles 4 and 5, I felt so good that I wondered why I only do this once a year. Then I hit mile 6, and my body reminded me: the going got tough.
Usually, my breathing gives out first. I just can’t get enough air to keep my clumsy body moving. This time, it was my legs. I pushed hard, but with a mile left, my body just couldn’t take it anymore. Abel, on the other hand, seemed to be maintaining a steady pace. He passed me effortlessly. Still, I can honestly say I gave everything I had. I slowly made my way to the finish line, feeling dizzy and on the verge of collapse.

At the seaside stood thick and tall palm(棕榈) trees with green coconuts hanging from them. When the coconuts fell down, the children would break them open and drink the coconut water. Sami liked to play with the rabbits and squirrels jumping about in the trees and bushes. He also liked fishing in the link ponds with his friends. It was always great fun to spend the holidays at Grandpa’s place.
This winter vacation. Sami was surprised when be came to his grandfather’s village. There were hardly any trees left. What lay at the water’s edge(边缘) were only sucks and mud. He saw houses built near the sea. Logs(木材), branches of trees and stones lay around. People had cut down many palm trees and there was hardly any greenery left.
“Grandpa, where have all the trees gone?” asked Sami.
“People have cut them down for wood, to be used for fuel and furniture.” replied Grandpa.
“There will be no more trees then. Where will the birds perch(栖息) and the squirrels play?”
“Let us hope that that day never comes,” sighed Grandpa.
Grandpa’s house was different. He never allowed his trees to be cut. He liked each palm tree in his courtyard. He also admired the two big trees near the front door. He called one of them Petu, and the other, Beta. They gave the sweetest juiciest coconuts which he always enjoyed sharing with Sami.
One night, Sami was awakened by a strange sound. He tossed and turned in bed. Suddenly, the ground shook as if the earth was splitting(裂开). He sat up straight and then ran to Grandpa, “It’s an earthquake”. Grandpa cried out. They ran outside the house where they thought it would be safer.

(2024-2025·广东部分学校·高二上1月联考)I recently received an email from Jack, one of my students, who said that he graduated from university and became a teacher in a secondary school. He is passing on the same love and warmth that his teacher gave him to his 32 students. This letter took me back 15 years.
One afternoon in April, I walked into a classroom as usual to guide my students, when an eight-year-old boy named Jack suddenly caught my attention. On his desk were glue and a lot of colored paper, which he was carefully folding. Jack was an introverted, dyslexic (诵读困难) child who rarely spoke. He was also slow to remember words.
When I saw Jack at work with his paper and glue, I didn’t disturb him. After a while, a beautiful paper plane emerged, then he wrote something on the wings with a pen, smiling happily.
As soon as the bell rang, he rushed out of the classroom, tightly holding the paper plane in his hand. He went to the playground and threw the paper plane with all his might. Jack ran back and forth on the playground with excitement and shouted, “I did it! I did it!” This was the first time I’d seen Jack happy.
In the following week, I began to observe Jack quietly and found that he carried a small bag in which there were many different kinds of paper planes, from point y ones to long-tailed ones to wide-winged ones. Every day after school, he would go to the playground and fly his planes, each with different words written on the wings. These observations showed me that Jack had strong hands-on abilities and a rich imagination. I felt that there was a huge potential hidden in his little body.
How could I use this knowledge to build his confidence? I bought some origami (折纸艺术) books for him and started flying paper planes with him after school. Jack told me his dreams of going to space were written on the wings of each paper plane. He said that every time he flew a paper plane, his dream would be one step nearer. Suddenly, I had an idea of having a paper plane competition in class.

We searched the plant for a whole day, but without luck. We found nothing. As it got dark, I asked Roy to go back, but he refused and said, “I would rather sleep on the mountain tonight and continue to search tomorrow! ”
I desired to go home but I lacked the courage to go back alone, so I chose to stay and help Roy put up a simple tent under a tree. It was freezing cold on the mountain and there were scores of mosquitoes, which made it impossible for us to have a good sleep. What’s worse, we heard a wolf howling nearby! I was so scared.
“I heard that wolves bully(欺负)the weak and fear the strong, ” Roy told me. “Let’s strike the shovel(铲子)and shout to scare it away! ” He found a stone and started to strike the shovel. And then he shouted as he struck the shovel. Inspired, I followed him to shout loudly. Half an hour later, I felt cold all over the body. And the cold air on the mountain made that worse. My stomach began to ache. I lay in the tent, shivering, sweating and then falling unconscious. Roy was shocked with panic. He called my name screamingly, but I just made no response. He tried to put me on his back to carry me home but without success. At last, he went out and found some tree branches and blocked up the entrance to our tent with them. Then, he ran to the direction of our village as fast as he could.
Not knowing how much time went by, I heard some sounds approaching near. I thought it was Roy but I didn’t hear him saying anything. In a shock, I sat up with a rush.

【答案】Max and Charley were disappointed when they didn’t catch the truck in time that day. Mia’s eyes sparkled and she said, “Never give up!” She explained that the truck might be gone, but they could find it at its next stop. They walked block after block. Not knowing which direct ion the truck had taken, they had to make their best guess about where to search. The kids’ tiny legs were tired, but they carried on regardless, continuing to chant, “Never give up!”
After about twenty minutes of walking, Max’s faith in the mission began to waver (动摇).He wondered out loud, “Maybe we should give up. We have been walking pretty far and haven’t seen the truck yet.” Then he collapsed, resting his aching legs. Mia bent over and patted him gently on the shoulder. Wearing an encouraging smile, Mia comforted, “Never give up!” with Charley nodding in agreement. Max looked up, thought for a while and jumped to his feet. Just two blocks later, they found it. The kids screamed with excitement, “Never give up!” Simple though it is, that phrase has become our battle cry for the challenges we face.

【答案】Then I was announced to play next and I felt anxious again. It seemed that thousands of butterflies were really flying in my stomach. My mother gave me a pat on the back and said softly, “Just enjoy it, honey!” I found encouragement and confidence in her eyes. I got up, climbed up the stage steps and bowed to the audience. I tried my best to keep calm. I slowly placed my hands on the keyboard, took a deep breath and started to play. To my delight, everything seemed unbelievably smooth.
Suddenly my fingers slipped and I hit a wrong note. I could clearly feel the disappointment from the crowd’s deep sigh. “Just enjoy it!” Mum’s words echoed in my ears. I continued playing as if nothing had happened. Soon I found myself absorbed in the familiar music world again. Eventually, when I finished my last note, the crowd all stood up with applause and cheering, which was totally out of my expectation. Though I didn’t win the champion, I knew I had learned something more valuable. I realized that learning to enjoy music was more important than the competition itself.

【答案】
Suddenly, Mary’s heart pounded violently as she sensed they were completely lost. Anxiety crept in as the towering trees cast long shadows around them. “Jenny,” Mary whispered, her voice shaking slightly, “do you think we took a wrong turn?” Jenny looked around, trying to recall the path they had come through, but everything seemed unfamiliar. Despite the mounting fear, Jenny squeezed Mary’s hand reassuringly, “Don’t worry, Mary. Remember what your grandma said about the guiding star.” Encouraged by her friend’s words, Mary took a deep breath and scanned the sky. The North Star twinkled brightly, standing out among the countless stars. Mary pointed towards it, “Let’s use the North Star to guide us back.”
Gazing at the North Star again, Mary realized it wasn’t just about escaping the forest. It symbolized finding her way through the darkness in her life too. As they navigated through the trees, her heart gradually filled with warmth and courage. She whispered a silent thank you to her grandma, believing that she was watching over her. Finally, emerging from the forest, they were greeted by the familiar city lights that reminded Mary of hope and guidance. The adventure not only brought them home safely but also rekindled the light within Mary’s heart, transforming her grief into strength.

When Tom got home late that night, he saw a neighbor at their door. The neighbor, with a look of concern, informed Tom that his mother had fainted and was rushed to the hospital. Tom’s mind went blank as he processed the information, his heart pounding in his chest. A wave of guilt washed over him as he realized what he had done to his mother. He quickly grabbed his bike keys and dashed outside, his bike already waiting for him in the driveway. The cool night air rushed past him, the streetlights casting flickering shadows on his path. Every pedal felt like a race against time as he pushed himself to reach the hospital as soon as possible.
After riding for half an hour, Tom arrived at the hospital. Breathless and drenched in sweat, he rushed to the reception desk and asked for his mother’s room. The nurse directed him to a softly lit room where Gina lay. Her face was pale, but her eyes lit up when she saw her son. Tom inched/edged to her bedside, tears streaming down his face. He grabbed her hand and whispered apologies for his recent behavior. Gina, with a weary but forgiving smile, reassured him that she was okay and that they could work through their differences. As they held each other’s hands, sharing words of understanding and love, the tension between them melted away.

【答案】One possible version:
I realized it was me who was at fault. I had been so focused on keeping the party under control that I failed to consider how important Toby was to my brother during this difficult time. My pride had kept me from reaching out, and now months had passed without a proper conversation. One evening, I picked up the phone and left him a voice message, apologizing for my behavior and asking if we could meet. To my relief, he called back the next day, and we agreed to get together soon.
With the biscuits my wife had made, I arrived at my brother’s door. He opened it with a surprised smile, and for a moment, neither of us spoke. Then we hugged — something we hadn’t done since before his wife passed away. We sat on the porch with Toby resting beside us, and I handed him the box of biscuits. “Thank you,” he said quietly. We talked for hours, laughing, remembering old times, and slowly rebuilding what had been lost. As I watched Toby gently rest his head on my brother’s leg, I knew we were finally on the path to healing.

【答案】One possible version:
In a class discussion, I was invited to explain the meaning of my name. Standing up, I felt a mix of nervousness and excitement. “My name, Qiuyu, combines the characters for autumn and rain in Chinese,” I began, my voice steady. “Autumn represents harvest and maturity, while rain symbolizes nourishment and growth. Together, they embody a time of abundance and renewal.” As I spoke, I noticed the rapt attention of my classmates, their eyes reflecting curiosity and respect. It was a moment of connection, a bridge built between cultures through the simple act of sharing my name.
Many of my classmates got interested and came up to me after class. They surrounded me, their questions pouring out like a stream. “What other names have beautiful meanings in Chinese?” “Can you teach us how to write our names in Chinese characters?” I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through me. I took out a piece of paper and began to sketch out characters, explaining each stroke and its significance. Through this interaction, I realized that by embracing my cultural identity, I was not only preserving my heritage but also enriching the lives of those around me. It was a small yet meaningful step towards fostering cultural understanding and appreciation.

【答案】 When Coach Pitt said “Nice work!” to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised. In the vast expanse of her school, a girl with poor directional skills struggled to navigate and often got lost. One day, during gym class, she observed a unique way to find her way - following the shadows of trees. As the sun cast its rays, the girl noticed how the shadows created patterns on the ground, guiding her path. She took a leap of faith and followed the shadows, surprising herself with each turn and stretch. Her efforts were noticed by the teacher, who praised her innovative thinking.
Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building. She used the shadows to navigate the school hallways, find her classes, and even locate the school's various facilities. This newfound skill not only helped the girl navigate her school but also instilled in her a sense of confidence and adventure. She learned excitedly that with a little creativity and observation, any challenge could be overcome. And with each step she took, she left behind a legacy of inspiration for those who followed in her footsteps, knowing that even without a clear sense of direction, there's always a way to find one's way.

【答案】范文
A few weeks later, Peter was walking home when something unexpected caught his attention. In the distance, he saw a familiar figure in worn-out clothes, covered in dust and sweat, lifted heavy bricks with her weathered hands at the construction site. As he drew closer, he realized it was his mother, Catherine. Catherine tirelessly moved heavy bricks with her ugly and rough hands under the scorching sun. Her face was covered in sweat, and she didn't even have time to wipe it off as she rushed back and forth, working tirelessly. Peter stood there in shock, unable to utter a single word. Meanwhile, a wave of guilt and regret flooded over him. He shouldn’t have said those hurtful words.
On his way back home, he kept thinking about how he would apologize to his mother. Peter couldn't shake off the guilt and regret for his hurtful words towards his mother. He knew he had to make things right and apologize to her. The moment Catherine stepped into the house from work, Peter rushed up to her, gently took her hands in his and held them tightly. “Mom, I’m sorry” he murmured, tears welling up in his eyes, “I didn’t understand then, but now I see how hard you work for us. Your hands may be rough, but they are the most beautiful hands in the world because they care for us.” Tears welled up in Catherine’s eyes as she embraced her son, a wave of happiness washing over her. From that day on, Peter not only attended the school event with his mother but also stood by her side, holding her hands with pride.

I asked if they needed any more help and the woman said no. I was relieved to hear that, but I still felt a little worried about the injured boy. I watched as the ambulance arrived and the paramedics took the boy and his mother into the vehicle. I hoped that the boy would be okay.
Immediately I started to direct the ambulance toward the injured boy. I waved my hands and shouted to the driver to follow me. The driver saw me and followed my directions. I led them to the spot where the boy was waiting. The paramedics quickly got out of the ambulance and started to treat the boy. I stood by and watched, praying for the boy’s recovery. After a few minutes, the boy was loaded into the ambulance and taken to the hospital. I felt a sense of relief, knowing that he was getting the help he needed.

【答案】 “Do you want to conquer the world again?” Lynn asked. Feeling puzzled for a second, April replied. “Um... OK, let’s do it.” Lynn smiled in relief. Even if they were taller now, the rock still seemed pretty high and steep. The two figured out a way that April would sort of hold Lynn’s hand, and Lynn would sometimes help April up. Hardly had the girls reached the peak when they high-fived each other and laughed as they “conquered the World”. Though immersed in the joy and excitement, April felt apologetic in the heart for what she had done before.
“You know, I’m sorry about the jelly thing.” April said to Lynn. A sense of guilt overwhelmed April. “Oh, just forget it. I’m sorry for doing all those stupid things before. We were just stressed, right? ” Lynn chuckled with delight. “Yeah. We should stop fighting each other. Deal? ” “Deal! After all, we are sisters! ” They embraced each other tightly, their eyes brimmed with tears. Relieved and excited, they walked hand in hand along the path back home. From then on, they were like peas and carrots, and whatever happened, their bond was unbreakable!

As she walked up to the podium(讲台), Lily reminded herself of the body language techniques he had learned. She stood up straight, made eye contact with the audience, and used hand gestures to emphasize her points. As she began to speak, Lily noticed that the audience was paying close attention to her. They were leaning forward in their seats, nodding their heads, and taking notes. Lily felt a sense of energy and connection with the audience that she had never experienced before.
After the presentation, several people came up to Lily and praised her for her communication skills. They said that they had been impressed by her poise, confidence, and ability to engage the audience. Lily was thrilled—she knew that her body language had played a significant role in her success. Over the next few months, Lily continued to develop her body language skills and became known as an expert in public speaking. She was invited to speak at more conferences, and her presentations received high praise from audiences and fellow speakers alike. Lily learned that body language is a powerful tool that can influence how we are perceived by others. Whether we’re giving a speech or having a conversation, body language is an essential part of effective communication.

【答案】One possible version:
I felt dizzy and saw other runners passing by. The runners who passed by cast sympathetic glances in my direction, yet their feet were swift to carry them onward— their desire for a medal pushed them ahead, leaving me behind in desperation. My legs were like lead weights and could barely move. My lungs burned, gasping for air with every stride. Just when I was on the verge of giving up, a voice came through. “You’re doing great, man. Just a few more steps.” It was Abel, his face flushed with concern, his eyes full of encouragement. “Let’s finish together.” He had slowed his pace, matching his stride to mine, a silent promise of support.
Hearing his words, I felt a surge of strength. I pushed myself, plucked every ounce of courage, and continued forward, with Abel by my side. The air thick with our sweat and exhaustion, I finally felt the finish line, a mere blur in the distance. A small crowd had gathered at the finish line, cheering on the stragglers. Their cheers, combined with Abel’s support, gave me the final push I needed. We crossed the finish line together. Although we didn’t get a medal, we did get an even better “gift”— the incredible life journey we had shared. It was a reminder that we could achieve more than what we thought, especially when we have someone by our side.

In fact, the earth was not splitting but the sea was roaring(咆哮). Huge waves from the sea came crashing towards the village. They swallowed Sami and Grandpa, separated them away, and then drew back again into the sea, dragging whatever came their way. Grandpa caught hold of Petu and climbed up. He panicked and screamed out to Sami but couldn’t see him. “Sami, Sami!” Grandpa cried and wailed. The high waves came with terrifying speed and force. A wave carried him round and round. Finally he was thrown on top of a big coconut palm.
Paragraph 2:
A minutes later, the waves went back and the sea calmed down. Sami hung onto the coconut tree. He could hear the cries and the sighs of people in pain. He slowly came down the tree, very frightened. He began to call out, “Grandpa, Grandpa!” as loudly as he could. Looking around, he saw a gray, old lonely man hanging onto the tree. He went closer. It was Petu, the coconut tree, and Grandpa was on its top. He helped Grandpa get off carefully. Looking at the tree, Sami and Grandpa couldn’t help hugging it with tears of gratitude.

【答案】I started working with Jack every day to find out what kind of paper plane would fly higher and farther. I guided Jack to record the altitude and distance of different planes in his notebook, so as to improve and perfect them. Jack had particular difficulty in writing, but he worked hard to overcome it and kept learning and practicing. Day by day, Jack could finally form and read full sentences without losing any words. And his airplanes could fly higher and farther by properly using the wind and his own skill.
In the competition, Jack threw his paper plane at full force, making a beautiful arc (弧线) upward. The plane sailed through the air and landed at a distance of 15.12 meters. The children cheered and congratulated Jack for being the winner. I saw Jack’s eyes glistening with tears and a happy smile on his face. He gestured a love heart to me in the crowds. (2024-2025·湘鄂冀三省七校·高二上10月联考)When I was 15, I followed Roy to the deep mountain in search of astragalus root(黄芪), which is a rare and valuable plant.
At that moment, my eyes had adjusted to the darkness. Through a hole of our tent, I saw two animals like dogs removing the tree branches with their mouths and claws. They were wolves!

【答案】范文
Paragraph 1:
Their sudden appearance shocked me and a cold sweat broke out all over my body. But I managed to gather myself together. I struck the shovel left beside me with a stone and screamed as loudly as I could. The two wolves were frightened at first and stepped back. But after a short time of hesitation, they continued to remove the branches. And no matter how hard I struck the shovel, they just ignored. I was in despair. But I still held the stone and shovel firmly, thinking I wouldn’t give it up without a fight.Paragraph 2:
Strangely, I saw the two wolves turn around and run away in a flash. “Are they afraid of my shovel? ” I wondered. But I realized I was wrong when I saw many flashlights approaching my tent quickly. It turned out that Roy had run away to seek help. With a dozen of villagers, Roy was coming to my rescue! They were calling my name and I responded as they removed the branches. As Roy got into the tent and hugged me, I couldn’t help crying, both in fright and relief.
