If you want to know more about them, please click here or visit http://www.buddhanet.net/festival.htm Songkran — Thailand Dates: 13th — 15th, April In Thailand, people celebrate a festival called Songkran, when people head out to the streets with water guns to spray (喷洒) everyone who walks past. It’s a very important traditional celebration in the country. Naghol — Vanuatu Dates: Every Saturday from April to May Every year, villagers come together to celebrate the harvest of yams (甘薯), an important part in the people’s diet in Vanuatu. The festival is most famous for its “land diving (潜水) ceremony”. During the ceremony men and boys dive to the ground from high wooden towers with only two thin vines (藤) tied to their feet. Cherry Blossom Viewing — Japan Dates: The cherry blossom season is different from year to year depending on the weather. The festival is well-known. The Japanese celebrate the days when the flowers finally blossom. Only a few days later, the petals (花瓣) fall to the ground, like pink snowflakes. That means the traditional festival only lasts for several days. In Japan, almost everyone has picnics in the parks to view the flowers. Sinhalese New Year — Sri Lanka Dates: 13th or 14th, April Just like in many other countries in South East Asia, this is the time when people celebrate the traditional New Year, an ancient celebration which marks the end of the harvest season and is one of two times of the year when the sun is straight above Sri Lanka. There are a lot of delicious foods during the celebration. 21.What might happen to a tourist during SongKran? A.He will get wet. B.He will hurt his feet. C.He will be treated to delicious foods. D.He will see some petal falling. 22.Which festival is celebrated at a different time each year? A.Songkran B.Naghol C.Cherry Blossom Viewing D.Sinhalese New Year 23.Where is the text probably taken from? A.On TV. B.In a report. C.On the Internet. D.In the newspaper. B My wife and I have gardened together for years, but the great birch tree (桦树) challenge of 2024 put our teamwork to the test. We’d agreed to replace two birch trees we’d lost and buy trees small enough for me to manage. Yet, at the garden center, my wife’s attention was drawn to a towering 15-foot birch with a root ball the size of a big exercise ball. When I asked an employee about its weight, he estimated, “About 400 pounds.” I tried to make sure my wife could hear so I raised my voice on purpose, “So, you’d need to be a sportsman to move that, right?” She nodded. Game over, I thought. “Call Brian,” my wife said, referring to our strong firefighter son-in-law. The next morning, Brian arrived with 800 pounds of birch trees in his truck. After much pushing and struggling, we managed to get them off the truck, but they went no further than the driveway. Brian left for some reason, and the trees remained where they’d landed. That night, it sprang to my mind that we’d been asking the wrong question. Instead of “How do we move a 400-pound tree?” we should be asking, “How can we make the tree lighter?” With that shift in mind, I got out of bed and removed the 300-pound pile of earth, dirt and rocks from each root ball, making them much easier to handle. Two months later, the two trees are tall and solid, already casting shadows. To me, they are more than just trees—they are reminders of the times I limit myself by sticking to the usual methods. I am grateful for having a partner who pushes me to look up and change the way I think about things. 24.How did the author probably feel at the sight of the 15-foot birch? A.Excited. B.Concerned. C.Relieved. D.Astonished. 25.Why did the author raise his voice on purpose? A.To prevent his wife from buying the tree. B.To warn his wife about the tree’s poor health. C.To show his determination to be a sportsman. D.To express his dissatisfaction at the employee. 26.What did the author do with the trees that night? A.He threw them away. B.He just left them in the driveway. C.He reduced their weight before planting. D.He asked Brian to take them home by truck. 27.What do the trees represent to the author? A.The power of teamwork. B.A devotion to hard work. C.A physical challenge he overcame. D.The value of thinking out of the box. C Deep Sea: To Mine Or Not To Mine A robot as large as a truck moves along the bottom of the deep sea. It eats metallic (含金属的) rock and soft mud. They travel up a long pipe to a ship, where workers and machinery separate out the rock and throw the mud back into the ocean. This is a mining operation. The rock contains a mixture of metals, including ones called rare earth metals. People use these materials to make batteries and electronics like computers and phones. Deep-sea mining hasn’t happened yet. But it probably will occur within the next decade. No country owns any part of the deep sea, so a UN organization called the International Seabed Authority (ISA) decides who is allowed to mine there. It has allowed 29 organizations to explore the deep sea and make plans for mining, one of which plans to begin mining in the year 2027. Scientists and environmentalists, though, warn that mining could destroy deep-sea ecosystem. In 1989, ecologist Hjalmar Thiel carried out a test. His team searched the seafloor of the Pacific Ocean, in a spot with lots of the metallic rocks that miners wanted. They didn’t actually collect any of the rocks. But they disturbed the mud, just as a mining operation would. The cloud of mud fell back down over the ocean floor burying creatures living there. Up to now, the area they disturbed has not recovered. Signs of the search are still there. Deep sea creatures like sponges and corals have not moved back in. That means mining could have detrimental, long-lasting consequences for deep ocean life. Scientists want to understand the deep sea better before disturbing it. Leaving the deep sea alone sounds great, but people need those metals. “Mines on land are soon going to run out,” geologist Steven Scolt of the University of Toronto told Smithsonian Magazine. “Every electronic device in the world has rare earth metals in it... we need raw resources.” New energy technologies including solar and wind power and electric cars rely on these metals as well. We may need to mine them from the sea in order to switch to greener energy sources. 28.According to the passage, why do people want to carry out deep sea mining? A.To test the mining robot. B.To collect rare earth metals. C.To separate the rock from mud. D.To understand the deep sea better. 29.What can we infer from the test of Hjalmar Thiel in 1989? A.They gathered some metallic rocks the miners wanted. B.They helped the recovery of the disturbed mining areas. C.They discovered the deep-sea mining had affected the ocean ecology. D.They found the rare metallic rocks were harmful to sea creatures. 30.What does the underlined word “detrimental” in Paragraph 3 most probably mean? A.Appealing. B.Harmful. C.Helpful. D.Impressive. 31.What is Steven Scolt’s attitude towards deep-sea mining? A.Doubtful. B.Neutral. C.Supportive. D.Disapproving. D Can you think of someone who is an excellent communicator? He must have good skills of speaking confidently in various situations, including presentations, group discussions and activities. Also, he should be good at listening to others, understanding group dynamics, and promoting shared decision-making. Research on classroom-based group work reveals a paradox(悖论):while cooperative learning can be highly effective, merely placing children in groups often proves unproductive. The solution lies in teaching children how to cooperate effectively. Teachers play a crucial role in this process through their interaction with students. To ensure effective group work, teachers must first raise students' awareness of the purpose and value of group activities. More importantly, they need to teach students how to engage in reasoned discussions, known as Exploratory Talk. This involves considering everyone's viewpoints, justifying opinions with reasons, and making collective decisions. In Exploratory Talk, participants engage critically but constructively with each other's ideas, invite contributions, and seek further explanations. Successful cooperation requires a reasoned discussion, which can be facilitated by establishing a set of “Ground Rules” for Exploratory Talk. These rules guide behaviours such as asking for information, seeking and providing reasons, and evaluating proposals. Ground Rules help children work towards joint conclusions, respect opinions, and develop their ideas. For instance, children learn to ask, “What do you think? Why?” and listen attentively to each other's responses, reaching reasoned conclusions. Exploratory Talk enhances group activities as a powerful learning tool. Certain activities, like Talking Points, are particularly effective in stimulating such discussions. Talking Points are inspiring statements designed to encourage children to share their knowledge and ideas on a specific topic. Research indicates that Talking Points bring about more imaginative and extensive responses than traditional questions. They help children focus on the topic and compare their viewpoints with others'. As they discuss, children realize that their ideas can develop with new evidence and that classmates are valuable resources for new thinking. With proper guidance, the students will soon begin to see their ideas flowing. And gradually they will learn to participate fully not only in education but also in life as well. 32.What may help solve the group work paradox? A.Active interaction among teachers. B.Group learning among students. C.Teachers' effective guidance. D.Students' deep engagement. 33.Why should Ground Rules be set for the students? A.To popularize group activities. B.To build up their individuality. C.To stimulate more proposals. D.To encourage reasoning in talks. 34.What can be inferred from the last paragraph? A.Students should be challenged with uncertainties. B.Traditional questions should be avoided in class. C.Well-designed brainstorming matters in group activities. D.Idea exchanges between the students deserve top priority. 35.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text? A.The Paradox of Cooperative Learning and Its Solution B.Impact of Effective Communicators in Group Discussion C.Teaching Children to Cooperate in Classroom Group Work D.Exploratory Talk as a Powerful Learning Tool in Group Work One of the most common mistakes people make when trying to improve their health is attempting too many sudden and great changes. Crash diets, extreme workout plans, or sudden sleep adjustments often fail because they’re unsustainable. 36 Here are some practical yet powerful tips to help you: Start with small, achievable goals. 37 For example, they hope to run 5 miles daily without prior training. Instead, they should begin with manageable steps — take the stairs instead of the elevator, or do 10 minutes of stretching each morning. These minor adjustments prevent burnout while steadily improving your strength and endurance. 38 Being too strict with what one eats often backfires. This often leads to quick weight regain and frustration. Instead of banning foods, focus on adding more whole, nutrient-rich options like vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. For example, swap soda for sparkling water with lemon, or replace white bread with whole-grain alternatives. Small, sustainable changes lead to lasting results without the frustration of yo-yo dieting. Prioritize sleep for overall well-being. In today’s fast-paced world, sleep is often sacrificed for productivity or entertainment. 39 Sleep deprivation weakens immunity, increases stress hormones, and even contributes to weight gain. To improve sleep quality, establish a calming bedtime routine — dim the lights, avoid screens an hour before bed, and keep a consistent sleep schedule, even on weekends. Stay active throughout the day. Sitting for long periods is linked to poor circulation, back pain, and metabolic issues. If you have a desk job, set reminders to stand up and move every hour. 40 Simple activities like walking during phone calls or doing light stretches can boost energy, improve posture, and enhance mental clarity. A.Be consistent rather than extreme. B.Focus on nutrition, not just dieting. C.Listen to your body’s needs and adjust accordingly. D.It can help reduce stress and improves circulation. E.The best habits are those you can maintain without feeling deprived. F.Many people get discouraged because they start with too high goals. G.You might think you can go with little of it, but your body pays the price. Kamau is an experienced Uber driver. And if they’re not dreaming of it, they’re certainly looking forward to it. It’s the young boys’ and girls’ chance to spend a beautiful night with their schoolmates and friends, an opportunity to have fun, dance, and enjoy themselves before their school years come to an end. For young Dakota Wollan, the prom night was not something he couldn’t wait for. In fact, he had no idea who to ask to go with him to the special event. When Dakota told his parents that he didn’t have anyone in mind, his dad had an idea. He figured, since Dakota’s great-grandma Madeline had never been to a prom, it would be fun to share this experience with her great-grandson. When Dakota heard the suggestion, he felt it would be an honor and unforgettable night for them both to take his beloved great-grandma! So, he decided to ask his great-grandma with a proper proposal “I have this old truck she gave me. It’s a 1985 truck she handed down to me and I got it running again. So, I took that truck and made a sign,” he recalled. When the 92-year-old woman saw the sign, she was shocked. She couldn’t find a reason why a young man would want to spend such a special night with an elderly lady. But she said “yes”. After all, Dakota had made it clear that if she didn’t go, he wouldn’t go either. So, she really didn’t have an option. Madeline explained that she only attended high school for one year and a half, because her father got sick and she had to help on the farm. In fact, she didn’t even remember if there was such a thing back at her time. So, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to find out what this prom is all about. Eventually, the big day came and the pair were ready to have the time of their lives. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Such an inspiring moment was posted on social networking sites. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$第 1页(共 12页) 第 2页(共 12页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … 1.When was Tim born? If you want to know more about them, please click here or visit http://www.buddhanet.net/festival.htm Songkran — Thailand Dates: 13th— 15th, April In Thailand, people celebrate a festival called Songkran, when people head out to the streets with water guns to spray (喷洒) everyone who walks past. It’s a very important traditional celebration in the country. Naghol — Vanuatu Dates: Every Saturday from April to May Every year, villagers come together to celebrate the harvest of yams (甘薯 ), an important part in the people’s diet in Vanuatu. The next morning, Brian arrived … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … 学 校 : __ __ __ __ __ __ __ 姓 名 : __ __ __ __ __ __ _班 级 : __ __ __ __ __ __ __ _考 号 : __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ with 800 pounds of birch trees in his truck. … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … … … … … ○ … … … … … … … B.Neutral. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________ Such an inspiring moment was posted on social networking sites. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________ 2025年秋季高二开学摸底考试模拟卷(浙江专用) 英语·参考答案 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 1—5BCBBC 6—10BCACA 11—15BCBAB 16—20BCACA 第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分50分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 21—25 ACCBA 26—30CDBCB 31—35CCDCA 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 36—40EFBGD 第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 41—45ACDBA 46—50CDBAD 51—55 BCABD 第二节(共10小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分) 56.a 57.to create 58.with 59.is drawn 60.supporting 61.combination 62.traditionally 63.inspired 64.but 65.who/that 第四部分 写作(共两节,满分40分) 第一节 (满分15分) Dear Jack, I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your wonderful presentation on British traditional festivals during our online cultural exchange. Looking forward to more enriching exchanges like this in the future! Yours, Li Hua 第二节 (满分25分) Eventually, the big day came and the pair were ready to have the time of their lives. Dakota helped his great-grandma into his restored 1985 truck, her eyes sparkling with excitement. As they arrived at the hall, students turned to stare, whispers spreading through the crowd. But soon, their curiosity turned into admiration. The music began, and Dakota gently took Madeline’s hand, guiding her to the dance floor. Though her steps were slow, her laughter filled the room. Other students joined them, forming a circle to cheer for the extraordinary partners. Tears welled up in Madeline’s eyes as she whispered, “I never imagined I’d experience something so magical.” The touching scene was quietly filmed. Such an inspiring moment was posted on social networking sites. The video of Dakota and Madeline dancing spread like wildfire overnight, with millions praising the teen’s kindness. News outlets interviewed the family, and Madeline became a local heroine. “This isn’t just about prom,” Dakota said in an interview. “It’s about honoring those who missed their chances to shine.” The school later announced a new tradition: inviting senior citizens to proms. Years later, Madeline’s prom photo still sat proudly on her dresser, a reminder that love goes beyond generations — and that it’s never too late to create memories. Are you going to tim's party . on saturday? I'm suzy, and i'm here to talk about improving a park in my city called central park. My interest in the park was inspired by my childhood hobby. I used to collect wildflowers, and my books were mostly about science. When I was Young, I liked playing ball games in central park with my friends. Two years ago, I went back to the park again for a walk and was amazed to see how Richard was in wildlife, but there was also lots of plastic waste lying around, so I found volunteers to help clean up the park. Since then, the park has become popular with local people. There are two lakes in the park, and they attracted birds, but they need looking after as the water can dry up during dry seasons. So now i'm working with the local environmental agency to protect that. Now i'm very busy and it's hard to fit in things like hanging out with my friends, but they understand I need to continue working on improving the park. 根据文章第二段“Yet, at the garden center, my wife’s attention was drawn to a towering 15-foot birch with a root ball the size of a big exercise ball. When I asked an employee about its weight, he estimated, “About 400 pounds.” I tried to make sure my wife could hear so I raised my voice on purpose, “So, you’d need to be a sportsman to move that, right?”(然而,在园艺中心,我妻子的注意力被一棵高耸的15英尺桦树吸引住了,它的根球像一个巨大的健身球那么大。当我询问员工这棵树的重量时,他估计道:“大约400磅。”我故意提高声音,确保妻子能听见:“所以,你需要是个运动员才能搬动它,对吧?”)”可知,作者看到15英尺高的桦树时,员工估计其重量为400磅,并强调需要“运动员”才能移动。作者故意提高声音让妻子听到,试图劝阻她购买这棵树,表明他对此感到担忧,担心无法搬运。故选B。 25.推理判断题。根据文章第二段“Yet, at the garden center, my wife’s attention was drawn to a towering 15-foot birch with a root ball the size of a big exercise ball. I am grateful for having a partner who pushes me to look up and change the way I think about things.(对我来说,它们不仅仅是树——它们提醒我,我常常因为固守常规方法而限制了自己。我很感激有这样一个伙伴,她推动我去仰望、去改变我的思考方式。)”可知,作者通过此事反思,认为树不仅是植物,更是提醒他不要局限于常规方法的象征。他感激妻子推动他改变思维方式,最终通过“减重”解决问题。这体现了“跳出常规思维”的重要性。故选D。 C Deep Sea: To Mine Or Not To Mine A robot as large as a truck moves along the bottom of the deep sea. 根据第一段“A robot the size of a large bulldozer moves along the bottom of the deep sea.(一个大型推土机大小的机器人沿着深海底部移动)”和“This is a mining operation. The rock contains a mixture of metals, including ones called rare earth metals.(这是一个采矿作业。这种岩石含有多种金属,其中包括一种叫做稀土金属的金属)”可知,深海采矿作业是为了获得稀土金属。故选B。 29.细节理解题。根据第三段“But they disturbed the mud, just as a mining operation would. Scientists want to understand the deep sea better before disturbing it.(但它们搅动了海床的泥土,就像采矿作业那样。那团泥土又重新落回海底,掩埋了那里的生物。到目前为止,他们所搅动的区域仍未恢复原状。搜索留下的痕迹依然存在。像海绵和珊瑚这样的深海生物尚未重新回到那里。这意味着采矿可能会对深海生物造成有害且持久的影响。科学家们希望在对深海进行干扰之前先更好地了解它)”可知,海底采矿会影响海洋生态系统。故选C。 30.词句猜测题。根据划线词上文“But they disturbed the mud, just as a mining operation would. The cloud of mud fell back down over the ocean floor burying creatures living there. Up to now, the area they disturbed has not recovered. Signs of the search are still there. Deep sea creatures like sponges and corals have not moved back in.(但它们搅动了海床的泥土,就像采矿作业那样。那团泥土又重新落回海底,掩埋了那里的生物。到目前为止,他们所搅动的区域仍未恢复原状。搜索留下的痕迹依然存在。像海绵和珊瑚这样的深海生物尚未重新回到那里)”可知,采矿影响了当地的生态,产生了有害影响。故划线词意思是“有害的”。故选B。 31.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Leaving the deep sea alone sounds great, but people need those metals. “Mines on land are soon going to run out,” geologist Steven Scolt of the University of Toronto told Smithsonian Magazine. “Every electronic device in the world has rare earth metals in it... we need raw resources.””(离开深海听起来很棒,但人们需要这些金属。 C。 D Can you think of someone who is an excellent communicator? A.The Paradox of Cooperative Learning and Its Solution B.Impact of Effective Communicators in Group Discussion C.Teaching Children to Cooperate in Classroom Group Work D.Exploratory Talk as a Powerful Learning Tool in Group Work 【答案】32.C 33.D 34.C 35.A 【详解】本文是一篇说明文。 32. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: Eventually, the big day came and the pair were ready to have the time of their lives. 词汇激活 行为类 ①盯着看:stare/gaze ②开始:begin/start ③低声说:whisper/murmur/mutter ④想象:imagine/picture ⑤宣布:announce/declare 情绪类 ①兴奋:excitement/thrill/exhilaration ②欣赏:admiration/appreciation 【点睛】[高分句型1] As they arrived at the hall, students turned to stare, whispers spreading through the crowd.
