I decided to go to the island of Bali. I really wanted to volunteer at a national park, but I was too late to apply so I went for a job at a diving center. This turned out to be better than what I considered, like helping in a school. When it comes to packing, obviously you need your travel documents, your phone and charger. Then think about any medicine you might need. How did I stay in touch with family? When I first arrived, I wrote a letter every week. They took at least four weeks to arrive though. Then, when I met someone else who had a blog, I realized that that’s the thing to do. A phone call is nice, but the time difference can make that difficult. There are lots of things you’ll need to adapt to when you’re in another country. The language of course. But luckily, so many people speak English. And I knew I’d struggle with the hot food. I hadn’t realized the effect the climate would have on us, though. Generally speaking, I really enjoyed my time away. It’s a good way to make friends, and you gain confidence too. A The New York Public Library is here to help you learn and connect with your community through our various free events. I simply said hello to the eighty-nine-year-old lady, and five years later we are what Ruby refers to as BFFs (Best Friends Forever). Over the years, I have realized that in an intergenerational friendship such as ours, each generation has so much to learn and teach each other. Ruby was also a nurse. I loved to hear about her nursing practice, and she was always eager to hear about today’s advances in healthcare. One day, I picked up all four of my grandchildren to visit Ruby. The next intergenerational friendships were born. Over the next few years, I witnessed the happiness that the children and Ruby shared. They developed a mutual love for each other that I wished we could recreate for other elderly people. This thought stayed with me until I retired from nursing a few years later. I spent the next eight months creating Ms. Ruby and the Gigi Squad: Friendship Comes in All Ages. This labor-of-love book records the many fun events the children created for Ruby over the years. They held surprise birthday parties, tea parties, and took her to school musicals. This book has taken my life by storm as it has received diverse awards and brought many opportunities to publicly speak about intergenerational friendships. My vision for the book was originally on a smaller scale and written to encourage families with children to visit an older adult. I was in awe when entire schools began approaching me to use the book for service projects. One activity that I included in the book, titled The Sunshine Bag Project, took off, and children began giving the elderly these special bags that included letters, cards, and small treasures. It was also a joy to know that in the next chapter of life, I could continue to make a difference to others — all because I had the courage to step out of my comfort zone and take a wonderful step toward authorship. 24. What has the author learned from her relationship with Ruby? A. Older adults are lonely and in need of care. B. Nurses are more likely to develop friendships. C. Advanced healthcare can bridge generation gaps. D. Friendships serve as a source of learning across ages. 25. What is the main theme of the author’s book? A. The joy of intergenerational friendships. B. The benefits of friendships. C. The importance of providing healthcare. D. The creation of fun events. 26. How did the book impact on society? A. Schools promoted children’ s reading. B. Children started befriending the elderly. C. More authors wrote stories about elders. D. Service projects gained great popularity. 27. What is the significance of the book for the author? A. It provided her with financial stability. B. It helped her reconnect with old friends. C. It enabled her to contribute to others’ lives. D. It made her childhood dream come true. 【答案】24 D 25. A 26. B 27. 根据文章第二段“Over the years, I have realized that in an intergenerational friendship such as ours, each generation has so much to learn and teach each other. Ruby was also a nurse. I loved to hear about her nursing practice, and she was always eager to hear about today’s advances in healthcare. (多年来,我意识到,在像我们这样的代际友谊中,每一代人都有很多东西可以相互学习和传授。鲁比也是一名护士。我喜欢听她讲她的护理实践,而她总是渴望听到当今医疗保健方面的进展。)”可知,从用Ruby的跨代友谊中,作者学到跨代友谊是互相学习的源泉。故选D。 【25题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第四段“I spent the next eight months creating Ms. Ruby and the Gigi Squad: Friendship Comes in All Ages. This labor-of-love book records the many fun events the children created for Ruby over the years. ( 接下来的8个月里,我创作了《鲁比小姐和吉吉小队:友谊不分年龄》。这本书记录了孩子们多年来为Ruby创造的许多有趣的事件。)”可知,书籍的主题是跨代友谊的快乐。故选A。 根据文章倒数第二段“One activity that I included in the book, titled The Sunshine Bag Project, took off, and children began giving the elderly these special bags that included letters, cards, and small treasures. (我在书中加入了一个名为“阳光包计划”的活动,这个活动很受欢迎,孩子们开始给老人这些特殊的袋子,里面装着信件、卡片和小宝贝。)”可知,书籍促使儿童主动与老年人建立友谊。故选B。 【27题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章最后一段“It was also a joy to know that in the next chapter of life, I could continue to make a difference to others — all because I had the courage to step out of my comfort zone and take a wonderful step toward authorship. (当我知道在人生的下一个篇章中,我可以继续为他人带来改变时,我也感到很高兴——这一切都是因为我有勇气走出自己的舒适区,朝着作者的方向迈出了美妙的一步。)”可知,书籍让作者得以持续为他人带来改变,这使她能够为他人的生活做出贡献。故选C。 C Smart driving, which has been a buzzword in China for quite some time, is gaining further attention, as the government and car companies have called for cautious use of the vague (模糊的) term. Vehicle automation is divided into six levels, from Level 0 to 5, according to the Society of Automotive Engineers. Functions available in passenger vehicles in China are Level 2, usually known as driving-assist functions, but many carmakers refer to them as smart driving in marketing campaigns, which sound more advanced than they actually are. A great number of car buyers tend to buy into the hype (炒作) as well, believing that their cars are capable of autonomous driving, which in fact belongs to Level 4 or 5. At a technology meeting on Wednesday, Voyah CEO Lu Fang said carmakers should let car buyers know the capabilities of the specific models they choose. “Safety is the baseline. They must know what their vehicles can do. Also, you shall never confuse them with those vague ideas,” said Lu. “The very purpose of tools of transport is to move things and people from point A to point B safely. So safety is a topic you can never avoid.” he said. In a previous interview, Lu said he sometimes got angry at the videos that went viral online, where some bragged about how smart their vehicles were. “Safety is the best policy.” said Yu Chengdong, a Huawei executive, when he introduced new models on Wednesday. On the same day, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized a meeting and told automakers that they must thoroughly test advanced driver assistance systems, clearly define system boundaries and safety response measures, and avoid misleading marketing. They must also fulfill their duty to inform users, and take full responsibility for product quality and safety. Since last year, the popularity of smart driving technologies have seen explosive growth. In 2024, 8.67 million passenger vehicles in the Chinese market were delivered with Level 2 systems, accounting for more than 41 percent of the total. 28. Which level should a car at least reach to have the ability to drive autonomously? A. Level 0. B. Level 3. C. Level 4. D. Level 5. 29. Why do carmakers call Level 2 functions smart driving in marketing? A. To accurately describe the functions of their vehicles. B. To follow the industry standards of smart driving vehicles. C. To make their products seem more advanced and attractive. D. To confirm Level 2 functions are actually equal to smart driving. 30. Which can replace the underlined phrase “bragged about” in paragraph 3? A. Showed off. B. Complained about. C. Reflected on. D. Commented on. 31. What can be learned from the passages? A. More car buyers will be misled by smart driving carmakers. B. The government’s measures will stop the hype of smart driving. C. The development of smart-driving technologies will slow down. D. Carmakers continuing misleading consumers might be punished. C 29. C 30. A 31. 根据第二段中“A great number of car buyers tend to buy into the hype (炒作) as well, believing that their cars are capable of autonomous driving, which in fact belongs to Level 4 or 5.(许多购车者也倾向于相信炒作,认为他们的汽车具备自动驾驶能力,而这实际上属于4级或5级)”可知,汽车至少要达到4级才能具备自动驾驶能力。 根据第二段中“Functions available in passenger vehicles in China are Level 2, usually known as driving-assist functions, but many carmakers refer to them as smart driving in marketing campaigns, which sound more advanced than they actually are.(在中国,乘用车可用的功能是2级,通常被称为驾驶辅助功能,但许多汽车制造商在营销活动中将其称为智能驾驶,这听起来比实际更先进)”可知,汽车制造商在营销中将2级功能称为智能驾驶是为了使他们的产品看起来更先进、更有吸引力。 根据划线词所在句“In a previous interview, Lu said he sometimes got angry at the videos that went viral online, where some bragged about how smart their vehicles were.(在之前的一次采访中,卢表示,他有时会对网上疯传的视频感到愤怒,视频中一些人bragged about他们的车有多智能)”可知,卢感到愤怒,是因为他觉得网上一些人过分炫耀自己的车有多智能,所以“bragged about”的意思是“炫耀”,与“Showed off”意思相近。故选A。 根据第四段中“On the same day, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized a meeting and told automakers that they must thoroughly test advanced driver assistance systems, clearly define system boundaries and safety response measures, and avoid misleading marketing. They must also fulfill their duty to inform users, and take full responsibility for product quality and safety.(同一天,工业和信息化部组织了一次会议,并告诉汽车制造商,他们必须彻底测试高级驾驶辅助系统,明确界定系统边界和安全响应措施,并避免误导性营销。他们还必须履行告知用户的义务,并对产品质量和安全承担全部责任)”可推知,如果汽车制造商继续误导消费者,他们可能会受到惩罚。故选D。 D If you’ve long assumed that you must rid yourself of delicious foods to be healthy, a new study offers encouraging news: Eating dark chocolate has been associated with a reduced risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. The research did not prove that the chocolate itself was responsible for this health benefit; it could be something else about the people who ate dark chocolate that made them less likely to develop diabetes. And dark chocolate should not be considered a “magic bullet” for preventing diabetes, said Dr. Sun, a professor of nutrition from Harvard. But the findings do build on a larger body of research demonstrating links between dark chocolate consumption and reduced risks of certain health conditions like high blood pressure. “The results”, Dr. Sun added, “suggest that a little dark chocolate can be part of a healthy diet”. In the mid-1980s and early 1990s, researchers began studying three groups of mostly white health professionals. Every four years, the more than 190,000 participants completed detailed diet questionnaires, which asked how often they consumed chocolate. Beginning in 2006 and 2007, depending on the group, the researchers tweaked (调整) the questionnaires to ask how often participants ate dark chocolate and milk chocolate. They followed the participants’ health for up to 34 years. During that time, nearly 19,000 participants developed Type 2 diabetes. After adjusting for other aspects of their lifestyles, such as exercise, alcohol consumption, as well as their age and family history of diabetes, the researchers found that people who consumed at least five servings of any type of chocolate per week had a 10 percent lower risk of developing Type 2 diabetes compared with those who rarely or never ate chocolate. But when they drilled down into the data from the nearly 112,000 people who provided details on the types of chocolate they consumed, the researchers found an even more striking result: Those who consumed at least five servings of dark chocolate per week had a 21 percent lower risk of developing Type 2 diabetes than those who consumed dark chocolate less than once per month. 32. Which statement would Dr. Sun agree with? A. Dark chocolate alone can not prevent diabetes. B. Dark chocolate can be eaten in large quantities. C. Chocolate is likely to directly prevent Type 2 diabetes. D. Milk chocolate and dark one have equal health benefits. 33. How did the researchers carry out the study? A. By tracking people with a family history of diabetes. B. By observing participants’ chocolate-eating habits. C. By performing experiments and making comparisons. D. By conducting surveys and making adjustments. 34. In which section of a newspaper might you read this article? A. Diet & Culture. B. Health & Science. C. Food & Lifestyle. D. Sports & Exercise. 35. Which can be the best title of the passage? A. Dark Chocolate: A New Cure for Diabetes B. Dark Chocolate: A Promising Healthy Diet C. Could Dark Chocolate Reduce Your Risk of Diabetes? D. What’s the Link Between Dark Chocolate and Health? A 33. D 34. B 35. 根据第二段中“And dark chocolate should not be considered a “magic bullet” for preventing diabetes, said Dr. Sun, a professor of nutrition from Harvard. (哈佛大学营养学教授Sun博士说,黑巧克力不应被视为预防糖尿病的“灵丹妙药”。)”可知,Sun博士认为黑巧克力不能单独预防糖尿病。故选A。 根据第四段中“Every four years, the more than 190,000 participants completed detailed diet questionnaires, which asked how often they consumed chocolate. (每四年,超过19万名参与者完成详细的饮食问卷,问卷询问他们吃巧克力的频率。)”以及倒数第二段“After adjusting for other aspects of their lifestyles, such as exercise, alcohol consumption, as well as their age and family history of diabetes, the researchers found that people who consumed at least five servings of any type of chocolate per week had a 10 percent lower risk of developing Type 2 diabetes compared with those who rarely or never ate chocolate. (在调整了生活方式的其他方面,如运动、饮酒,以及年龄和糖尿病家族史后,研究人员发现,与很少或从不吃巧克力的人相比,每周至少吃五份任何类型巧克力的人患2型糖尿病的风险降低了10%。)”可知,研究人员是通过进行调查和调整来开展这项研究的。故选D。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是根据第一段“If you’ve long assumed that you must rid yourself of delicious foods to be healthy, a new study offers encouraging news: Eating dark chocolate has been associated with a reduced risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. (如果你一直认为为了健康必须戒掉美味的食物,一项新的研究带来了令人鼓舞的消息:吃黑巧克力与降低患2型糖尿病的风险有关。)”可知,文章主要讲述了新研究发现吃黑巧克力与降低患2型糖尿病风险有关,并介绍了相关研究过程。文章可能选自报纸的“健康与科学”版面。故选B。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第一段“If you’ve long assumed that you must rid yourself of delicious foods to be healthy, a new study offers encouraging news: Eating dark chocolate has been associated with a reduced risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. (如果你一直认为为了健康必须戒掉美味的食物,一项新的研究带来了令人鼓舞的消息:吃黑巧克力与降低患2型糖尿病的风险有关。)”可知,文章主要讲述了新研究发现吃黑巧克力与降低患2型糖尿病风险有关,并介绍了相关研究过程。所以C选项“Could Dark Chocolate Reduce Your Risk of Diabetes? (黑巧克力能降低患糖尿病的风险吗?)”最符合文章标题。故选C。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 When you evaluate (评估) what subject or degree to pursue, it’s always useful to consider your future after graduation. ____36____We’re here to assist with some advice on matching your study path with your career and have some suggestions on finding your path if you’re not sure. Therefore, I advocate using AI wisely in our study. For example, we can use it to explain complex concepts, improve our drafts, or generate study questions when necessary. In a word, it should be used to promote learning rather than replacing it. We were both experienced day hikers but had never ventured deep into the wilderness alone. Excited for the adventure, we packed light — just a couple of water bottles, some snacks, a first-aid kit, and a lighter. We didn’t bother with a map, compass, or extra clothing, assuming the marked trail would be enough. That decision nearly cost us everything. We started early in the morning, following a well-known trail that promised stunning views of the valley. The weather was perfect — clear skies and a gentle breeze. By noon, we reached a high viewpoint where we could see endless green valleys and sharp mountain peaks. Jake shouted excitedly, his voice echoing through the mountains. I laughed confidently, feeling completely safe. Then, everything changed. Dark clouds rolled in faster than we expected. Within minutes, the sky turned black, and a cold wind swept. Before we could react, rain poured down. The trail, once dry and easy to follow, turned into a slippery, muddy mess. We tried to hurry back, but visibility dropped to almost zero. After an hour of stumbling through the storm, we realized we were no longer on the trail. The markers had disappeared, and our phones had no signal. Jake suggested we keep moving downhill, hoping to find a road or a ranger station But the terrain (地形) was steep and dangerous, with loose rocks and fallen branches blocking our path. As daylight faded, the temperature dropped dangerously low. We were wet and cold. Jake, trying to stay calm, suggested we find shelter for the night and wait for daybreak. We spotted a small overhang of rocks — not quite a cave, but enough to block some of the rain. Using the lighter, we managed to start a weak fire. It wasn’t much, but the flickering flames gave us hope. The awful night rolled slowly away and it tested our limits. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Finally, dawn came and the rain stopped. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文: The awful night rolled slowly away and it tested our limits. The wind roared, and every bustle in the bushes made our muscles tense. Was that just the wind or something more dangerous? The tiny fire provided little warmth, only reminding us how cold we really were. We clutched our knees to our chest. Thoughts of my warm home and family made me regret our careless attitude. We had no emergency blanket, no extra food or water, no way to call for help and we could do nothing but pray the day broke sooner. Finally, dawn came and the rain stopped. The world was deadly quiet, as if holding its breath. We staggered downhill, our bodies aching. Every step was a struggle. Then came the distant sound of an engine and we staggered toward it. My vision blurred with exhaustion, but the hope of rescue pushed me forward. When the ranger’s truck finally appeared, tears of relief and regret streamed down my cheeks. This experience taught me a valuable lesson that venturing into the wild required both good preparations and deep respect for nature. 词汇激活 行为类: ①(风)呼啸:roar/howl ②紧紧抱住:clutch one’s knees to one’s chest/hold one’s knees tightly to one’s chest ③挣扎:struggle/strive ④出现:appeared/showed up 情绪类: ①释然:relief/release ②懊悔:regret/feel remorseful ③希望:hope/expectation 【点睛】[高分句型 1]. B Our first introduction occurred while I was teaching a nursing course at the care center. “You need to meet our new resident Ruby!” the charge nurse said. C Smart driving, which has been a buzzword in China for quite some time, is gaining further attention, as the government and car companies have called for cautious use of the vague (模糊的) term. Vehicle automation is divided into six levels from Level 0 to 5, according to the Society of Automotive Engineers. D If you’ve long assumed that you must rid yourself of delicious foods to be healthy, a new study offers encouraging news: Eating dark chocolate has been associated with a reduced risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Beginning in 2006 and 2007 depending on the group, the researchers tweaked (调整) the questionnaires to ask how often participants ate dark chocolate and milk chocolate. A. Dark Chocolate: A New Cure for Diabetes B Dark Chocolate: A Promising Healthy Diet C. Could Dark Chocolate Reduce Your Risk of Diabetes? D. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
