The glove then acted as his hand. This was a success in brain-machine interface (BMI, 脑机接口) technology made by a team of Chinese scientists and doctors. BMI refers to creating a connection between the human brain and external devices (外部设备 ), making communication between the brain and computers. For paralyzed people, BMI can allow them to move and do simple things by themselves. On Oct 24, 2023, the team put a BMI chip (芯片) in the patient’s head. The chip can receive neural signals (神经信号) from the brain. After three months of home recovery (康复) training, the patient can now use his brain signals to control a special glove powered by air pressure. This helps him do things like drinking water independently. BMI technology usually means putting chips directly onto the patient’s brain. However, this project is minimally invasive (微创的), making sure the patient’s brain is not harmed. So it is an important breakthrough. It also uses a wireless power supply (无线电源), so the implanted (植入的) device doesn’t need a battery (电池). Li Yuanning from ShanghaiTech University told CCTV News that BMI is now mainly used in the medical field to improve the lives of people with brain-related problems or speech difficulties. In China, BMI technology is still in the early stages of research, with no products on the market yet. Some people are worried that tests may influence patients’ independence and even who they are. Ethical concerns (伦理 问题) related to BMI also need to be addressed. These include whether the patient has a clear understanding of what is going on when they agree to take part in the test. 21.What is China’s recent success in BMI? A.ABMI chip was successfully put into a patient’s brain. B.BMI helped a paralyzed patient drink water on his own. C.A paralyzed patient can move freely with a BMI chip. D.A paralyzed patient can communicate with computers. 22.What is the external device in the recent experiment? A.ABMI chip. B.A neural signal. C.The brain. D.An air pressure-powered glove. 23.What does “breakthrough” mean in Paragraph 5? A.mistake B.achievement C.experiment D.creation 24.What is the advantage of the new BMI technology? A.It doesn’t harm patients’ brains. B.It doesn’t need any power. C.It understands patients’ needs correctly. D.It helps people improve their speech skills. 25.What do we know from the last paragraph? A.Many people are against BMI technology. B.The tests of BMI are at high risk of failure. C.BMI technology is widely used in the medical field. D.BMI technology is still under development. C Mooncakes are an essential (重要的) part of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Each year, bakers create millions of these desserts so people can share them with friends and family. But where did this tradition come from? About 650 years ago, the Mongols ruled (统治) over China. The Han people wanted to get back control. However, they did not want the Mongols to catch them. So, they began passing secret messages inside of mooncakes, saying that they were going to fight the Mongols on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival. When the evening arrived, the Han people fought hard and were successful. Each year after that, people celebrated the victory by eating mooncakes. It is a good way to remember the history. The practice spread quickly throughout China. Gradually, eating mooncakes became a cultural tradition. It is also a good chance for Chinese families to get together for family reunion (团聚). Today, people can buy all different types of mooncakes. They come with different fillings and in different prices. People enjoy filling up with these tasty treats, but many of them don’t know the history of the simple mooncakes. 26.Who ruled China about 650 years ago? A.The Hans. B.The Mongols. C.The Americans. D.The Japanese. 27.How did the Han people pass the secret messages? A.By hiding them in a dove. B.By carrying them by a postman. C.By putting them inside mooncakes. D.By wrapping them in clothes. 28.What does the underlined word “victory” in Paragraph 3 probably mean? A.Failure. B.Mistakes. C.Solution. Even a child can do it!” Most adults who are learning a second language would disagree with this statement (陈述 ). 31 They need hundreds of hours of study and practice. Language learning is different from other kinds of learning. 32 Language learning research shows that successful language learners are similar in many ways. First of all, successful language learners are independent learners. They are good guessers who look for clues (线索). When they guess wrong, they guess again. They try to learn from their mistakes. Successful language learning is active learning. Successful learners find people who speak the language and they ask these people to correct them when they make a mistake. 34 They are not afraid to repeat what they hear or to say strange things; they are willing to make mistakes and try again. It is more important for them to learn to think in the language than to know the meaning of every word. Finally, successful language learners are learners with a purpose. They want to learn the language because they are interested in the language and the people who speak it. It is necessary for them to learn the language in order to communicate with these people and to learn from them. 35 That’s because they want to learn with it. 阅读短文,从六个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项。 A.But what does a successful language learner do? B Brain tech gives hope Brain-machine interface may help paralyzed patients 脑机接口新突破!瘫痪病人能够自主喝水 It might sound like magic, but in February, a paralyzed (瘫痪的) patient was able to drink water on his own by controlling a special glove with his brain. The glove then acted as his hand. This was a success in brain-machine interface (BMI, 脑机接口) technology made by a team of Chinese scientists and doctors. BMI refers to creating a connection between the human brain and external devices (外部设备), making communication between the brain and computers. Ethical concerns (伦理问题) related to BMI also need to be addressed. These include whether the patient has a clear understanding of what is going on when they agree to take part in the test. 21.What is China’s recent success in BMI? A.A BMI chip was successfully put into a patient’s brain. B.BMI helped a paralyzed patient drink water on his own. C.A paralyzed patient can move freely with a BMI chip. D.A paralyzed patient can communicate with computers. 22.What is the external device in the recent experiment? A.A BMI chip. Even a child can do it!” Most adults who are learning a second language would disagree with this statement (陈述). 31 They need hundreds of hours of study and practice. Language learning is different from other kinds of learning. 32 Language learning research shows that successful language learners are similar in many ways. First of all, successful language learners are independent learners. They do not depend on the book or the teacher. 33 They try to find the patterns and the rules for themselves. B.They would feel sad learning the language. C.They discover their own way to learn the language. D.They find it easy to practice using the language regularly. Even a child can do it!” Most adults who are learning a second language would disagree with this statement (陈述). 31 They need hundreds of hours of study and practice. Language learning is different from other kinds of learning. 32 Language learning research shows that successful language learners are similar in many ways. First of all, successful language learners are independent learners. They do not depend on the book or the teacher. 33 They try to find the patterns and the rules for themselves.
