One possible version:
Realizing the reason for my failure, my parents started to dislike the fact that I had a phone. They said they had noticed that I never paid attention to them. It was like I had my own little world. So they thought we didn't communicate as much with my phone. They regretted having given me a phone, which made me ignore the family and study.
Then I started to wonder if I was wrong. A week later I tried going a whole day without a phone and it didn’t go that badly. I had so much fun because I was actually spending time with my family and paying attention to them. From that day, I had a different opinion towards phones. Phones really take you away from the rest of the world. I' m not saying that phones are bad and not to use them, but you do have to spare some time to spend with your family and not get stuck with your phone all day.

第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节 (共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A (原创设题)
How Can I Live To Be 100?
Be born later
Life expectancy figures normally assume mortality rates will stay the same, but medical and safety improvements are constantly reducing them. A new Danish model that takes this into account found that children born in the developed world today have a 50 per cent chance of reaching 100.
Be female
Women live longer than men, and not just because they tend not to fight wars. Japanese researchers created mice without a father by combining two female genomes. Their lifespan was extended by 30 per cent. Men may be engineered for size and strength at the expense of durability.
Take vitamin D
Vitamin D has been shown to help proteins in your cells keep the correct 3D shape. Misfolded proteins are associated with ageing diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Stay active
Daily exercise slows the gradual loss of heart muscle and bone density as we age, and reduces the risk of falls. Once you can no longer walk 400m (0.25 miles) in five minutes, your chance of dying in the next three years rises by 30 per cent.
21. What is the main reason children born today in developed countries have a 50% chance of reaching 100?
A. Higher life expectancy.
B. Improved nutrition and diet.
C. Medical and safety advancements.
D. Genetic engineering breakthroughs.
22. How does vitamin D potentially help slow aging?
A. By boosting muscle growth.
B. By reducing heart disease risk.
C. By increasing bone density directly.
D. By preventing protein misfolding in cells.
23. In which column will you find this passage?
A. Health and Wellness. B. Scientific Research. C. Opinion. D. Breaking News.
B
Montessori was born in Italy in 1870 with progressive parents, who frequently communicated with the country’s leading thinkers and scholars. This enlightened family environment provided Montessori with many advantages over other young girls of the time.
Her mother’s support was vital for some important decisions, such as her further study in a technical school after her elementary education. Her parents’ support also proved to be essential for her decision to study medicine, a field that was dominated by men.
Soon after graduating, in 1896, Montessori began work as a voluntary assistant in a clinic at the University of Rome, where she cared for children with learning difficulties. The rooms were empty, with just a few pieces of furniture. One day, she found that the children were enthusiastically playing with breadcrumbs (面包屑) that had dropped on the floor. It then occurred to her that the origin of some intellectual disabilities could be related with poverty. With the right learning materials, these and other young minds could be trained, Montessori concluded.
The observation would lead Montessori to develop a new method of education that focused on providing better stimulation during the sensitive periods of childhood.
At its centre was the principle (原则) that all the learning materials should be child-sized and designed to appeal to all the senses. In addition, each child should be allowed to move and act freely, and use their creativity and problem-solving skills. Teachers took the role of guides, supporting the children without press or control.
Montessori opened her first Children’s House in 1907. When the Fascists (法西斯主义者) first came into power in Italy in 1922, they welcomed her movement at the beginning. But they soon came to oppose the emphasis on the children’s freedom of expression. Montessori's values had always been about human respect and the rights of children and women, but the Fascists wanted to use her work and her fame.
Things reached a breaking point when the Fascist tried to influence the schools’ educational content, and in 1934 Montessori and her son decided to leave Italy. She didn’t return to her homeland until 1947, and she continued to write about and develop her method until her death in 1952, at the age of 81.
24. What was the main reason for Montessori to develop a new educational method?
A. Her experience as a voluntary assistant in a clinic.
B. Her family’s supportive influence on her education.
C. Her decision to study medicine, a field dominated by men.
D. Her observation of children playing with breadcrumbs happily.
25. What was a central principle of Montessori’s educational method?
A. Focusing on group competition. B. Taking control of children’s action.
C. Providing one-size-fits-all learning materials. D. Creating a free and child-centered environment.
26. Why did Montessori decide to leave Italy in 1934?
A. She was offered a better job in a different country.
B. She was forced to give up her work and her fame.
C. She wanted to avoid the influence from the Fascist.
D. She wanted to explore other countries and cultures.
27. Which of the following words can best describe Montessori in this passage?
A. Enthusiastic and kind. B. Observant and innovative.
C. Cooperative and generous. D. Traditional and emotional.

In the US only about 3% of early childhood teachers are male. Experts say this may have a great influence on young children whose understanding of gender roles and identity is rapidly forming. Research has found that getting access to different teachers is of benefit to children. This means the youngest learners are more likely to be exposed to a wide variety of games and communication. It can also help them develop healthy ideas about gender.
“In our society and world, we tend to have very specific stereotypes (刻板印象) of gender roles,” said Mindi Reich-Shapiro, an assistant professor in the Borough of Manhattan Community College, and one of the authors of a recent study. “It’s necessary for the kids to see other possibilities and paths they can choose.”
Although they largely felt supported by colleagues and families, many male teachers surveyed stated that in their career as early education teachers, they did face social and cultural resistance. Some even noted that the parents were surprised or concerned when they found a male teacher with their kids. Moreover, the male teachers were sometimes advised not to hug children.
Reich-Shapiro and other researchers have made some suggestions to increase the number of male early education teachers. Low wages have long been considered as a major problem in this field. More than 70% of male teachers said they intended to stay in the early education workforce, and pointed out that the major motivator for their commitment to their long-term career was an increased salary. Thus, the report recommended that all preschool educators be paid as much as the primary school teachers. The government should establish support groups and provide guidance and professional advice for male early education educators.
Reich-Shapiro said that traditional recruitment methods for early childhood teachers could not handle the gender gap in the field. He suggests providing young individuals with opportunities to stay and work with children either through training or voluntary programs, targeting groups of men who are considering changing their jobs, such as fathers and fathers-to-be.
28. How is the early childhood education in the US?
A. It neglects gender roles. B. It lacks male teachers.
C. It influences kids’ understanding. D. It exposes kids to adventures.
29. What is learned about the male teachers in the study?
A. They find it awkward to hug children. B. They fail to meet the parents’ expectations.
C. They can’t keep up with female colleagues. D. They feel distrusted socially and culturally.
30. What is important for men to be committed to early childhood education?
A. Higher pay. B. Job security. C. Social recognition. D. Better workplace.
31. What can be the best title for the passage?
A. Early education: a specific target B. Early education: a challenging field
C. Male preschool teachers: a vital necessity D. Male preschool teachers: a potential career
D
Chickadees (山雀) are beloved backyard birds in North America. Black-capped Chickadees and Carolina Chickadees are especially tough to tell apart, with the same black cap and chin, white cheeks, and gray-buff bodies, along with the same love of seed-filled bird feeders and similar cheeky “chick-a-dee-dee!” calls. Usually the easiest way to tell which of these two chickadees you’re looking at is to consult a map.
Carolina Chickadees live in the eastern and southeastern U. S., whereas Black-capped Chickadees inhabit most of the rest of North America. Yet along the extensive, meandering line where the two species overlap, things can get unclear. They started to share a “hybrid zone” where they regularly interbreed (异种交配) and produce young, blurring (模糊) the lines between species.
In 2007 Robert Curry, an ornithologist and behavioral ecologist published a paper showing that the hybrid zone had been creeping northward over more than a decade. By that time Curry had accumulated years’ worth of chickadee blood samples from his field sites, and he had access to tissue samples collected previously by other researchers as well. He and his collaborators used genetic analysis to verify the composition of the chickadee population at each site and looked at how that composition had shifted over time. The researchers’ findings provided confirmation of what bird-watchers had already observed: in a decade and a half the northern edge of the hybrid zone had moved about 20 kilometers north. But why?
According to the data collected from eBird in the following years, the northern limit of Carolina Chickadees’ range is roughly the point on the map where the average minimum winter temperature hits minus seven degrees Celsius — and that the rate of their northward expansion in Pennsylvania has been consistent with warming winters. Climate change is really only half of the story behind the movement of the hybrid zone. Meanwhile, there was a strong link between the presence of hybrids and the degree to which habitat in an area had been altered by humans. “I think what we’ve done in these disturbed areas is we’ve planted trees that favor Black-capped Chickadees,” says, “which has increased their populations and then increased the frequency of hybridization between the two species in an artificial way.”
“So what will happen? We don’t know yet,” Curry says. “But it will be interesting to see.”
32. What is the easiest way to tell Black-capped Chickadees from Carolina Chickadees?
A. Recording their calls. B. Observing their shapes.
C. Comparing their looks. D. Studying their habitats.
33. What can we learn about the study in paragraph 3?
A. Researchers focused on Chickadees’ behaviour.
B. The hybrid zone had a tendency to migrate north.
C. Curry gathered all the samples from his field sites.
D. The findings differed from those of bird- watchers.
34. What led to hybrid zone expanding north?
A. The availability of bird feeders.
B. The increased human population.
C. The influence of global warming.
D. The introduction of new bird species.
35. Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A. Chickadees and Climate Change: A Tale of Adaptation
B. The Silent Extinction: Chickadees Losing Their Identity
C. Chickadees: Showing How Species Boundaries Can Shift and Blur
D. Peaceful Coexistence: Chickadees Thriving Together Across Species Lines

“Surprise!” was the first thing I heard when I opened the door. My family and friends were all smiling at me. There were colorful balloons all over the house, a big poster saying “HAPPY BIRTHDAY”, and of course a cake with 12 candles. It was a wonderful feeling. I knew that I had finally turned twelve and I might possibly get the thing I wanted most.
I saw my mom and dad coming towards me with a small box which seemed to be a birthday present. When I opened the box, I couldn't believe my eyes. I had really gotten a mobile phone! Throwing myself into their arms, I let out a cry of joy, “Thank you! I love you guys!”
“You’re welcome. We knew this was going to make you happy but we didn't only get you this because you turned twelve, but also because you are doing well in school. We expect you to keep getting good grades.”
“Of course I will.” I said confidently.
As soon as I got to school the next morning, I was showing off my phone and asking everyone for their number. It was cool how I got so many contacts on the first day.
It felt like I didn't even exist in that class anymore. I wouldn't pay much attention to the teachers because I was too busy on my phone. However, I didn’t get caught using it.
I am pretty sure that the teacher did notice that I stopped paying attention to her because a week later we took a test and I failed. What was worse, my mom had to sign the test.
It was hard to show my mom the test. She was used to seeing A’s and B’s on my tests. Finally, I showed it to her, and she couldn't believe it. She was angry but most of all, she was disappointed.

How Can I Live To Be 100?
Be born later
Life expectancy figures normally assume mortality rates will stay the same, but medical and safety
improvements are constantly reducing them. A new Danish model that takes this into account found that children
born in the developed world today have a 50 per cent chance of reaching 100.
Be female
Women live longer than men, and not just because they tend not to fight wars. Japanese researchers created
mice without a father by combining two female genomes. Their lifespan was extended by 30 per cent. Men may be
engineered for size and strength at the expense of durability.
Take vitamin D
Vitamin D has been shown to help proteins in your cells keep the correct 3D shape. Misfolded proteins are
associated with ageing diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Stay active
Daily exercise slows the gradual loss of heart muscle and bone density as we age, and reduces the risk of falls.
Once you can no longer walk 400m (0.25 miles) in five minutes, your chance of dying in the next three years rises
by 30 per cent.
21. What is the main reason children born today in developed countries have a 50% chance of reaching 100?
A. Higher life expectancy.
B. Improved nutrition and diet.
C. Medical and safety advancements.
D. Genetic engineering breakthroughs.
22. How does vitamin D potentially help slow aging?
A. By boosting muscle growth.
B. By reducing heart disease risk.
C. By increasing bone density directly.
D. By preventing protein misfolding in cells.
23. In which column will you find this passage?
A. Health and Wellness. B. Scientific Research. C. Opinion. D. Breaking News.
B
Montessori was born in Italy in 1870 with progressive parents, who frequently communicated with the
country’s leading thinkers and scholars. This enlightened family environment provided Montessori with many
advantages over other young girls of the time.
Her mother’s support was vital for some important decisions, such as her further study in a technical school
after her elementary education. Her parents’ support also proved to be essential for her decision to study medicine,
a field that was dominated by men.
Soon after graduating, in 1896, Montessori began work as a voluntary assistant in a clinic at the University of
Rome, where she cared for children with learning difficulties. The rooms were empty, with just a few pieces of
furniture. One day, she found that the children were enthusiastically playing with breadcrumbs (面包屑) that had
dropped on the floor. It then occurred to her that the origin of some intellectual disabilities could be related with
poverty. With the right learning materials, these and other young minds could be trained, Montessori concluded.
The observation would lead Montessori to develop a new method of education that focused on providing
better stimulation during the sensitive periods of childhood.
At its centre was the principle (原则) that all the learning materials should be child-sized and designed to

appeal to all the senses. In addition, each child should be allowed to move and act freely, and use their creativity
and problem-solving skills. Teachers took the role of guides, supporting the children without press or control.
Montessori opened her first Children’s House in 1907. When the Fascists (法西斯主义者) first came into
power in Italy in 1922, they welcomed her movement at the beginning. But they soon came to oppose the
emphasis on the children’s freedom of expression. Montessori's values had always been about human respect and
the rights of children and women, but the Fascists wanted to use her work and her fame.
Things reached a breaking point when the Fascist tried to influence the schools’ educational content, and in
1934 Montessori and her son decided to leave Italy. She didn’t return to her homeland until 1947, and she
continued to write about and develop her method until her death in 1952, at the age of 81.
C
In the US only about 3% of early childhood teachers are male. Experts say this may have a great influence on
young children whose understanding of gender roles and identity is rapidly forming. Research has found that
getting access to different teachers is of benefit to children. This means the youngest learners are more likely to be
exposed to a wide variety of games and communication. It can also help them develop healthy ideas about gender.
“In our society and world, we tend to have very specific stereotypes (刻板印象) of gender roles,” said Mindi
Reich-Shapiro, an assistant professor in the Borough of Manhattan Community College, and one of the authors of
a recent study. “It’s necessary for the kids to see other possibilities and paths they can choose.”
Although they largely felt supported by colleagues and families, many male teachers surveyed stated that in
their career as early education teachers, they did face social and cultural resistance. Some even noted that the
parents were surprised or concerned when they found a male teacher with their kids. Moreover, the male teachers
were sometimes advised not to hug children.
Reich-Shapiro and other researchers have made some suggestions to increase the number of male early
education teachers. Low wages have long been considered as a major problem in this field. More than 70% of
male teachers said they intended to stay in the early education workforce, and pointed out that the major motivator
for their commitment to their long-term career was an increased salary. Thus, the report recommended that all
preschool educators be paid as much as the primary school teachers. The government should establish support
groups and provide guidance and professional advice for male early education educators.
Reich-Shapiro said that traditional recruitment methods for early childhood teachers could not handle the
gender gap in the field. He suggests providing young individuals with opportunities to stay and work with children
either through training or voluntary programs, targeting groups of men who are considering changing their jobs,
such as fathers and fathers-to-be.
Black-capped Chickadees and Carolina
Chickadees are especially tough to tell apart, with the same black cap and chin, white cheeks, and gray-buff bodies,
along with the same love of seed-filled bird feeders and similar cheeky “chick-a-dee-dee!” calls. Usually the

easiest way to tell which of these two chickadees you’re looking at is to consult a map.
Carolina Chickadees live in the eastern and southeastern U. S., whereas Black-capped Chickadees inhabit
most of the rest of North America. Yet along the extensive, meandering line where the two species overlap, things
can get unclear. They started to share a “hybrid zone” where they regularly interbreed (异种交配) and produce
young, blurring (模糊) the lines between species.
In 2007 Robert Curry, an ornithologist and behavioral ecologist published a paper showing that the hybrid
zone had been creeping northward over more than a decade. By that time Curry had accumulated years’ worth of
chickadee blood samples from his field sites, and he had access to tissue samples collected previously by other
researchers as well. He and his collaborators used genetic analysis to verify the composition of the chickadee
population at each site and looked at how that composition had shifted over time. The researchers’ findings
provided confirmation of what bird-watchers had already observed: in a decade and a half the northern edge of the
hybrid zone had moved about 20 kilometers north. But why?
According to the data collected from eBird in the following years, the northern limit of Carolina Chickadees’
range is roughly the point on the map where the average minimum winter temperature hits minus seven degrees
Celsius — and that the rate of their northward expansion in Pennsylvania has been consistent with warming
winters. Climate change is really only half of the story behind the movement of the hybrid zone. Meanwhile, there
was a strong link between the presence of hybrids and the degree to which habitat in an area had been altered by
humans. “I think what we’ve done in these disturbed areas is we’ve planted trees that favor Black-capped
Chickadees,” says, “which has increased their populations and then increased the frequency of hybridization
between the two species in an artificial way.”
“So what will happen? We don’t know yet,” Curry says. “But it will be interesting to see.”

confuses you, surf the Internet and clear out your problems. ____40____ In the end, you will be able to tackle a
problem from different angles, making everything easier.

第二节(满分 25 分)
67. 阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“Surprise!” was the first thing I heard when I opened the door. My family and friends were all smiling at me.
There were colorful balloons all over the house, a big poster saying “HAPPY BIRTHDAY”, and of course a cake
with 12 candles. It was a wonderful feeling. I knew that I had finally turned twelve and I might possibly get the
thing I wanted most.
I saw my mom and dad coming towards me with a small box which seemed to be a birthday present. When I
opened the box, I couldn't believe my eyes. I had really gotten a mobile phone! Throwing myself into their arms, I
let out a cry of joy, “Thank you! I love you guys!”
“You’re welcome. We knew this was going to make you happy but we didn't only get you this because you
turned twelve, but also because you are doing well in school. We expect you to keep getting good grades.”
“Of course I will.” I said confidently.
As soon as I got to school the next morning, I was showing off my phone and asking everyone for their
number. It was cool how I got so many contacts on the first day.
It felt like I didn't even exist in that class anymore. I wouldn't pay much attention to the teachers because I
was too busy on my phone. However, I didn’t get caught using it.
I am pretty sure that the teacher did notice that I stopped paying attention to her because a week later we took
a test and I failed. What was worse, my mom had to sign the test.
It was hard to show my mom the test. She was used to seeing A’s and B’s on my tests. Finally, I showed it to
her, and she couldn't believe it. She was angry but most of all, she was disappointed.
注意:
1.续写短文的词数应为 150 左右;

C

【原文】
W: Isidora Djukic is a biology and chemistry student at John Carroll University. She never thought that one day she would be in a classroom where an English professor asked her to play a board game to learn about climate change.
Djukic is taking a biology class called Climate Change: Global Impacts. At the same time, she is taking an English class called Environmental Literature. Her university requires students to take two connected classes that examine the same subject in different ways.
Debra Rosenthal is the English professor. At first, Djukic said she was uncertain about Rosenthal’s board game idea. “I was just thinking the idea could be interesting. But how fun is this idea actually going to be? Can we really learn about climate change just by playing a board game? What specifically can we get from such a game?”
Rosenthal bought six copies of a game called “Solutions”. The goal is to pick cards and then add them to the game board in a way that helps reduce global temperatures. Students do not compete against each other. They work together and try to come up with a solution so that the planet is not destroyed. The game is different from some other board games such as “Monopoly”, where the goal is to win.
Students read materials and then discuss their ideas. In most classes, Rosenthal said, students laughed, disagreed and had to call for votes as a way to decide how to move forward in the game. Djukic said it was a way to have fun while also learning about such a serious subject.

33. 细节理解题。根据第三段第一句 “In 2007 Robert Curry, an ornithologist and behavioral ecologist published a paper showing that the hybrid zone had been creeping northward over more than a decade. (2007年,鸟类学家和行为生态学家Robert Curry发表了一篇论文,称杂交区在过去十多年里一直在向北移动。)”可知,第三段中,我们能了解到杂交区域有向北迁徙的趋势。故选B项。
34. 细节理解题。根据第四段中“the rate of their northward expansion in Pennsylvania has been consistent with warming winters (宾夕法尼亚州的北向扩张速度与变暖的冬季相一致)”以及“Climate change is really only half of the story behind the movement of the hybrid zone.(气候变化实际上只是混合区运动背后故事的一半。)”可知,导致混合区域向北扩张的原因是全球变暖的影响。故选C项。
35. 主旨大意题。根据第二段中“Carolina Chickadees live in the eastern and southeastern U. S., whereas Black-capped Chickadees inhabit most of the rest of North America. Yet along the extensive, meandering line where the two species overlap, things can get unclear. They started to share a “hybrid zone” where they regularly interbreed (异种交配) and produce young, blurring (模糊) the lines between species.(卡罗莱纳山雀生活在美国的东部和东南部,而黑顶山雀则生活在北美的其他大部分地区。

故填was known。
分析句子可知,“was designed by architect Ma Yansong”和“has a capacity of more than 30, 000”为并列关系,所以这里应用并列连词and。故填and。
分析句子可知,这里考查be no stranger to表“对……并不陌生”,为固定搭配。故填to。
64. 考查冠词。句意:然而少数三线及以下城市也被列入了艺术家的日程。a handful of是固定短语,意为“少数;少量的”。故填a。
故填has staged。

第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“Surprise!” was the first thing I heard when I opened the door. My family and friends were all smiling at me.
注意:
1.续写短文的词数应为150左右;
2,续写部分分为两段,每段的开头已给出。
Paragraph 1:
Realizing the reason for my failure, my parents started to dislike the fact that I had a phone.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:
Then I started to wonder if I was wrong.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
