From natural wonders to cultural heritage, Wang Fang has re-created 1,800 destinations from China and around the world out of butter and flour. These micro-landscape cakes are rich in details and lifelike. Wang got involved in the art as a result of special requests from her former colleagues, who were most of her customers in the early days of her baking career. She had been working at a Chinese technology company as a visual designer for four years. As her experience grew, Wang discovered that baking was her true calling and quit her job in 2018. Wang Fang learned the basic skills of cake making from a professional cake maker. Then she opened her dessert studio. Not content with traditional buttercream cakes, she began to make cakes of various shapes. Wang recently took a three-day course on creating cake flavors. She’d like to add a wider range of flavors to her cakes. She’s also planning to introduce smaller cakes that are cheaper and designed for daily consumption. Wang feels that she is making money doing something she loves. The key lies in following the heart, choosing to do what she loves and enjoying the happiness that comes with it. A Immersive Van Gogh From the creators of the blockbuster show in Paris seen by over two million visitors and still wowing crowds in Toronto, the west coast premiere (首场) of the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit will bring the art of Vincent to life in Los Angeles. 根据文章第二段“Immersive art is not just a technical way to represent video and audio in huge spaces. The word immersive indicates a deep commitment of intentions which connect images and sounds in a way that the audience is able to experience a different way of the art.(沉浸式艺术不仅仅是在巨大空间中表现视频和音频的技术方法。沉浸式这个词表明了一种深刻的意图,通过将图像和声音连接起来,让观众能够体验到一种不同的艺术方式)”以及第三段“True to its name, this exhibition transforms the iconic paintings of Vincent van Gogh into moving, wall-filling projections. “Immersive Van Gogh” promises half-a-million cubic feet of projections that pull from some of the post-impressionist’s most recognizable pieces, including The Bedroom, Sunflowers and, yes, The Starry Night.(正如它的名字一样,这次展览将文森特·梵高的标志性画作变成了移动的、充满墙壁的投影。Immersive Van Gogh承诺将使用50万立方英尺的投影,呈现出印象派最著名的作品,包括《卧室》《向日葵》,没错,还有《星夜》)”可知,沉浸式艺术是一种将图像和声音连接起来的新型艺术形式。本次梵高绘画展演就是要通过沉浸式艺术展现。由此推知,本次展演将通过一种新的方式呈现。故选A。 根据文章第五段“To be announced before the exhibit opens, existing ticket holders will receive an email with the place name and location once it is made public.(在展览开始前宣布,一旦公开,现有的门票持有者将收到一封附有地点和地点的电子邮件)”可知,想要得到本次展演的确切地点,只能通过电子邮件。故选A。 根据题干“a couple with a 5-year-old child who would like to own a Van Gogh cushion (一对夫妇和一个5岁的孩子,并且想拥有一个梵高坐垫)”可知,一共有两个成人,一个五岁的小孩,并且想要梵高坐垫。再结合“Ages 6—16 (children 5 and under do not require a ticket)”可知,五岁以下的小孩不需要门票。再根据题干中“own a Van Gogh cushion”可知,想要得到一份Van Gogh cushion必须其中一人购买VIP TICKETS,即需要$99.99。 所以a couple with a 5-year-old child who would like to own a Van Gogh cushion (一对夫妇和一个5岁的孩子,并且想拥有一个梵高坐垫)至少需要$154.98。故选B。 B “What have I gotten myself into?” I wondered as I sat through a research meeting conducted entirely in Polish, unable to even read the title on the screen. Having only basic Polish language skills, I found my experiment in cross-cultural cooperation more challenging than I had expected. The idea of spending time abroad hadn’t occurred to me until my advisor suggested it during my first year. With his support, I enjoyed a remarkable summer in a laboratory in Japan, which left me wanting more. So, I applied for a Fulbright fellowship in Poland. To receive the fellowship, I first had to find a lab to host me, and neither I nor my advisor had any connections to Poland. Relying on Google to translate lab websites, I began to send cold emails. When my eventual host responded, eager to collaborate, I was thrilled. I suddenly felt the possibilities for my research career were endless and global. I was the first visiting scholar my research group had hosted from the United States, and my Polish colleagues were curious about what brought me to their country. This led to many fruitful discussions about the similarities and differences in how science is conducted across cultures. For example, much of the funding in Poland is awarded to teams rather than individuals. The system promotes cross-disciplinary (跨学科的) cooperations across the country, which in turn shapes how scientists design and carry out studies. I learned as much about the history and culture in Central and Eastern Europe as I did scientifically. Colleagues related firsthand accounts about challenges the region faced during the Cold War. Many laboratories had limited resources, and they rarely published their research in English. Those conditions helped shape research on antimicrobial treatment into bacteriophage and antibiotics, and Poland remain leaders in the former to this day. My cultural immersion made me a better researcher. I now see cross-cultural cooperations as a way to overcome communication barriers that can block progress in science. By stepping outside my comfort zone, I gained the confidence to navigate my research in new directions that I might have otherwise boxed myself out of. 24. Why did the author apply for fellowship in Poland? A. To practice Polish and learn its culture. B. To have another rewarding experience. C. To follow the advisor’s suggestion. D. To continue the research started in Japan. 25. How did the author benefit from the experience in Polland? A. He became an expert in Cold War history. B. He had access to cross-disciplinary cooperations. C. He secured abundant funding for future research projects. D. He obtained scientific knowledge and a global perspective. 26. Which words best describe the author? A. Helpful and determined. B. Cautious and innovative. C. Adventurous and inquisitive. D. Curious and competitive. 27. What does the author imply about cross-cultural cooperations? A. They are essential for the advancement of science. B. They might box researchers out of a certain direction. C. They should prioritize language training over research. D. They are valueless for creative minds in scientific field. B 25. D 26. C 27. 根据第二段“With his support, I enjoyed a remarkable summer in a laboratory in Japan, which left me wanting more. So, I applied for a Fulbright fellowship in Poland.(在他的支持下,我在日本的一个实验室度过了一个非凡的夏天,这让我渴望更多。所以,我申请了波兰的富布赖特奖学金)” 可知,作者申请波兰奖学金是为了获得另一次有意义的经历。故选B。 【25题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段“I learned as much about the history and culture in Central and Eastern Europe as I did scientifically.(我对中欧和东欧的历史和文化的了解与我在科学方面的了解一样多)”以及第六段“My cultural immersion made me a better researcher. I now see cross-cultural cooperations as a way to overcome communication barriers that can block progress in science.(我的文化沉浸使我成为一名更好的研究者。我现在将跨文化合作视为克服阻碍科学进步的沟通障碍的一种方式)”可知,作者在波兰的经历让他获得了科学知识和全球视野。故选D。 【26题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“With his support, I enjoyed a remarkable summer in a laboratory in Japan, which left me wanting more. So, I applied for a Fulbright fellowship in Poland.(在他的支持下,我在日本的一个实验室度过了一个非凡的夏天,这让我渴望更多。所以,我申请了波兰的富布赖特奖学金)”以及第三段“Relying on Google to translate lab websites, I began to send cold emails. When my eventual host responded, eager to collaborate, I was thrilled.(依靠谷歌翻译实验室网站,我开始发陌生邮件。当我最终的接待方回复我,并且渴望合作时,我非常激动)”可知,作者在日本有了一次不错的经历后,即便在没有与波兰相关联系,且自身波兰语技能仅为基础水平的情况下,仍大胆申请去波兰的奖学金,并主动发邮件联系实验室,这体现了他的冒险精神(Adventurous),敢于走出舒适区去尝试新的经历。再根据第四段“I was the first visiting scholar my research group had hosted from the United States, and my Polish colleagues were curious about what brought me to their country. This led to many fruitful discussions about the similarities and differences in how science is conducted across cultures.(我是我的研究小组接待的第一位来自美国的访问学者,我的波兰同事们很好奇是什么把我带到了他们的国家。这引发了许多关于不同文化中科学研究方式的异同的富有成效的讨论)”和第五段“Colleagues related firsthand accounts about challenges the region faced during the Cold War. Many laboratories had limited resources, and they rarely published their research in English. Those conditions helped shape research on antimicrobial treatment into bacteriophage and antibiotics, and Poland remain leaders in the former to this day.(同事们讲述了该地区在冷战期间面临的挑战的第一手资料。许多实验室资源有限,而且他们很少用英语发表研究成果。这些条件促成了对噬菌体和抗生素的抗菌治疗的研究,并且波兰在前者方面至今仍处于领先地位)”可知,作者积极参与和同事们的讨论,了解当地科学研究的情况以及地区历史等内容,展现出他强烈的求知欲(inquisitive),对新的知识和文化充满好奇并主动去探索。所以选项C(有冒险精神和求知欲的)最能描述作者,故选C。 根据第六段“I now see cross - cultural cooperations as a way to overcome communication barriers that can block progress in science.(我现在将跨文化合作视为克服阻碍科学进步的沟通障碍的一种方式)”可推知,作者认为跨文化合作对科学的进步是至关重要的。故选A。 C Cutting carbon emissions(排放)is not enough to keep global warming to less than 1.5℃—the goal of the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change. Not anymore, at least. As a result, hundreds of start-ups trying to remove greenhouse gases from the air and water have sprung up within the past few years. While land-based carbon dioxide removal projects have been undergoing testing and development for decades, ocean-based carbon removal is more recent in the push to fight against climate change. And one of the leaders in that field—Equatic—is about to increase its efforts in a big way. What began three years ago as a US Department of Energy-funded research project out of the University of California Los Angeles has already grown into a pair of pilot projects in Los Angeles and Singapore. And now the company has its sights set on building a massive marine carbon capture(海洋碳捕获)facility in Quebec. The process for capturing carbon begins by pumping seawater into a tank and then using an electrical current to break down the water into oxygen (O2) and hydrogen (H2) gases and a solution, which is then reacted with the air, pulling carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and chemically transforming it into two byproducts. One, calcium carbonate, is a white powder. The other is a solution that gets released back into the ocean. The proposed Quebec plant differs significantly from Equatic’s existing facilities. Its Singaporean pilot facility can process 4,000 tonnes of carbon each year. The planned Quebec facility, meanwhile, will be capable of processing 110,000 tonnes annually—about as much carbon as is emitted by 24,000 cars. Ultimately, though, the young industry is full of uncertainties. So far, research on marine carbon removal has been based on lab experiments and trials. So as Equatic’s planned Quebec plant moves ahead, scientists will be watching to learn more about its environmental impact and about just how effective marine carbon dioxide removal can really be. 28. What can we know about Equatic from the first two paragraphs? A. It started as a university research project. B. It is a land-based carbon removal project. C. It has undergone tests for decades. D. It is a start-up located in Quebec. 29. What is paragraph 3 mainly about? A. Environmental impacts of carbon removal. B. Comparative analysis of removal methods. C. Economic advantages of Quebec facility. D. Equatic’s carbon capture mechanism. 30. What sets the proposed Quebec plant apart? A. Its location. B. Its capacity. C. Its priority. D. Its partnership. 31. What is the author’s perspective on marine carbon removal? A. It’s energy-intensive. B. It’s a permanent fix. C. It’s down-to-the-ground. D. It’s an open question. A 29. D 30. B 31. 根据第二段“What began three years ago as a US Department of Energy - funded research project out of the University of California Los Angeles has already grown into a pair of pilot projects in Los Angeles and Singapore.(三年前,它作为美国能源部资助的、由加州大学洛杉矶分校开展的研究项目起步,如今已发展为在洛杉矶和新加坡的两个试点项目)” 可知,Equatic 最初是一个大学研究项目。故选A。 根据第三段“The process for capturing carbon begins by pumping seawater into a tank and then using an electrical current to break down the water into oxygen (O2) and hydrogen (H2) gases and a solution, which is then reacted with the air, pulling carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and chemically transforming it into two byproducts.(碳捕获过程始于将海水泵入水箱,然后使用电流将水分解为氧气(O2)和氢气(H2)以及一种溶液,然后该溶液与空气发生反应,从大气中提取二氧化碳,并通过化学反应将其转化为两种副产品)”可知,第三段详细介绍了 Equatic 捕获碳的具体步骤和机制。 根据第四段“The proposed Quebec plant differs significantly from Equatic’s existing facilities. Its Singaporean pilot facility can process 4,000 tonnes of carbon each year. The planned Quebec facility, meanwhile, will be capable of processing 110,000 tonnes annually(拟建中的魁北克工厂与 Equatic 现有的设施有很大不同。其新加坡试点设施每年可以处理 4000 吨碳。与此同时,计划中的魁北克设施每年将能够处理 11 万吨碳)” 可知,魁北克工厂的独特之处在于其处理碳的能力。故选B。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Ultimately, though, the young industry is full of uncertainties. So far, research on marine carbon removal has been based on lab experiments and trials. So as Equatic’s planned Quebec plant moves ahead, scientists will be watching to learn more about its environmental impact and about just how effective marine carbon dioxide removal can really be.(然而,最终,这个新兴行业充满了不确定性。到目前为止,海洋碳去除的研究一直基于实验室实验和试验。因此,随着 Equatic 计划中的魁北克工厂推进,科学家们将密切关注,以更多地了解其环境影响以及海洋二氧化碳去除的实际效果究竟如何)” 可推断,作者认为海洋碳去除仍是一个有待进一步研究的开放性问题。故选D。 D The future of space food could be simple and strange. For decades, astronauts have relied mostly on prepackaged food or the occasional grown vegetables during their visits to outer space. With missions beyond Earth’s orbit in sight, a NASA led competition is hoping to change all that and start a new era of sustainable space food. To solve the problem of feeding astronauts on long duration missions, the US space agency started the Deep Space Food Challenge in January 2022, asking companies to propose novel ways to develop sustainable foods for future missions. About 200 companies entered, which were narrowed down to 11 teams in January 2023 as part of phase 2. On November 19, NASA announced the teams that will progress into the final phase of the competition, with some winners to be announced in March, 2025. All teams had to show systems that could operate for three years and feed a crew of four on a future space mission. The proposals did not need to supply a crew’s entire diet, but they did need to create a variety of nutritious foods to the astronauts. One company took an incredibly unusual approach to the task. Air Company, based in New York, designed a system that could use the carbon dioxide breathed out by astronauts in space to produce alcohol, which can then be fed to yeast (酵母) and produce “something that’s suitable for eating”. “It’s making food out of the air.” says Stafford Sheehan, co-founder and chief technology officer of Air Company, “It sounds like magic, but when you see it actually operating, it’s much more simple.” Interstellar Lab in Florida had a different approach. Its system, called NUCLEUS, is a set of small capsules. Each is self-contained, with its own temperature, watering system, etc. That would allow different vegetables to be planted so that astronauts can easily grow their own food in space. While the winning ideas from the Deep Space Food Challenge won’t immediately be used by astronauts, they show what might be possible on future missions. “You’ve got to start years in advance to make sure you have the capability in place when you need it,” says Ralph Fritsche, senior project manager for space crop production at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. 32. Why was the Deep Space Food Challenge launched? A. To find tasty foods for astronauts. B. To found a space food supply center. C. To develop a new source of space food. D. To attract astronauts to food exploration. 33. Which might be the requirement to become the winning company? A. Future space missions lasting three years. B. Entire diets for long-lasting space research. C. Concrete proposals involving a crew of four. D. Sustainable supply of nutritious space foods. 34. What do paragraphs 4 and 5 focus on? A. Describing future space food. B. Showing solutions from competing companies. C. Introducing the current status of space food. D. Explaining the nutritional needs of space food. 35. What is the most suitable title for the text? A. Astronauts produce more space food. B. Space explorers face a lack of nutrition. C. New types of space foods are on the way. D. Future space missions last even longer. C 33. D 34. B 35. 根据第二段“To solve the problem of feeding astronauts on long duration missions, the US space agency started the Deep Space Food Challenge in January 2022, asking companies to propose novel ways to develop sustainable foods for future missions.(为了解决长期任务中宇航员的饮食问题,美国航天局于2022年1月启动了深空食品挑战赛,要求公司为未来的任务提出开发可持续食品的新方法。)” 根据第三段“All teams had to show systems that could operate for three years and feed a crew of four on a future space mission. The proposals did not need to supply a crew’s entire diet, but they did need to create a variety of nutritious foods to the astronauts.(所有团队都必须展示可以运行三年的系统,并在未来的太空任务中为四名机组人员提供食物。这些提议不需要提供宇航员的全部饮食,但他们确实需要为宇航员创造各种营养食品。)”可知,获胜要求是提供可持续的营养食物供应。故选D。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段“One company took an incredibly unusual approach to the task. Air Company, based in New York, designed a system that could use the carbon dioxide breathed out by astronauts in space to produce alcohol, which can then be fed to yeast (酵母) and produce “something that’s suitable for eating”. (一家公司对这项任务采取了令人难以置信的不同寻常的方法。总部位于纽约的航空公司设计了一种系统,可以利用宇航员在太空中呼出的二氧化碳来生产酒精,然后将酒精喂给酵母,生产出“适合食用的东西”。)”描述利用二氧化碳生产食物的方法,第五段“Its system, called NUCLEUS, is a set of small capsules. Each is self-contained, with its own temperature, watering system, etc. That would allow different vegetables to be planted so that astronauts can easily grow their own food in space.(它的系统被称为NUCLEUS,是一组小胶囊。每个都是独立的,有自己的温度、浇水系统等。这将允许种植不同的蔬菜,这样宇航员就可以在太空中轻松种植自己的食物。)”描述NUCLEUS种植系统可知,两段均以具体案例展示参赛公司的创新方案。从而推知两段焦点是展示解决方案。故选B。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“The future of space food could be simple and strange. For decades, astronauts have relied mostly on prepackaged food or the occasional grown vegetables during their visits to outer space. With missions beyond Earth’s orbit in sight, a NASA led competition is hoping to change all that and start a new era of sustainable space food.(太空食品的未来可能是简单而奇怪的。几十年来,宇航员在外太空访问期间主要依靠预包装食品或偶尔种植的蔬菜。随着地球轨道以外任务的临近,美国国家航空航天局领导的一项竞赛希望改变这一切,开启可持续太空食品的新时代。)”和最后一段“While the winning ideas from the Deep Space Food Challenge won’t immediately be used by astronauts, they show what might be possible on future missions. (虽然深太空食品挑战赛的获奖想法不会立即被宇航员使用,但它们展示了未来任务的可能性。)”可知,全文围绕NASA挑战开发新型可持续太空食物展开,强调创新方法正在推进。C项“新型太空食品即将问世”概括这一核心主题,适合用作标题。故选C。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分 12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 We all want to be fearless public speakers But often our fears take over and we imagine ourselves forget-ting our lines. ____36____ Be prepared. That means having weaknesses and making mistakes. F. Now we have some tips on how to deliver a perfect speech. G. There’s a message you want your audience to walk away with. F 37. D 38. E 39. C 40. 【36题详解】 根据前文“We all want to be fearless public speakers. But often our fears take over and we imagine ourselves forget-ting our lines. (我们都渴望成为无所畏惧的公众演说家。但往往恐惧会占据上风,让我们想象自己会忘词。)”可知,上文提出“问题”,接下来应该就是解决“问题”,告诉我们一些克服恐惧的建议或方法。第二段至第五段的首句都是祈使句,而祈使句可以用来表示提出建议。F选项“现在我们有一些关于如何成功发表演讲的建议。”符合语境,故选F。 【37题详解】 根据空格前的句子“You can listen to a favorite song just before you go on stage. (在登台表演之前,你可以先听一首自己喜爱的歌曲。)”可知,这是登台前的一种放松方式。D选项“你也可以告诉自己你能成功做到。”是一种自我鼓励,也是一种自我放松紧张心态的暗示,与前面的句子属于“词语复现”原则中的“同一句式”,符合上下文语境和逻辑。故选D。 【38题详解】 根据上文“Be vulnerable. It’s easy to think that confidence means preventing anything from affecting us. But the truth is that our vulnerability (脆弱性) can be our greatest strength. The way to connect with an audience is by being human. The way to be fear-less is to be generous with what you have to give your audience. (要慷慨大方。要变得无所畏惧,关键在于在向听众展示自己所拥有的东西时能够做到慷慨分享。)”以及后文“They bring it back to their own jobs, teams, families, and communities. The Keys to Compassion This is a heartwarming story about the power of ____41____, unlocked by an unexpected connection. Copying answers directly may save time, but it deprives us of critical thinking opportunities essential for lifelong learning. Firstly, distinguish between “assistance” and “replacement.” Use AI to clarify difficult concepts, not to complete entire essays. Secondly, prioritize independent problem-solving. Set a rule: attempt assignments manually before seeking digital aid. Finally, practice ethical use. Submitting AI-generated work as our own violates academic integrity. True progress stems from struggling with challenges, not bypassing them. Let technology be a ladder, not a crutch. Only through balancing innovation and self-reliance can we become future-ready learners. Thank you. My Views on Overusing AI Learning Tools Ladies and gentlemen, While artificial intelligence has revolutionized educational paradigms, excessive reliance on algorithmic assistance poses a profound threat to cognitive development. Instant access to pre-packaged answers may satisfy short-term academic demands, yet it erodes the very essence of learning—the arduous yet rewarding process of constructing knowledge through trial, error, and nuanced comprehension. To navigate this dilemma, I propose a tripartite strategy. First and foremost, we must delineate between supplemental guidance and intellectual outsourcing. AI should function as a conceptual clarifier for perplexing theories, not a ghostwriter for essays. Moreover, cultivate metacognitive discipline: impose a 30-minute independent brainstorming mandate before activating any digital aid. Concurrently, uphold academic honor by transparently citing AI contributions, mirroring scholarly citation protocols. As Socrates proclaimed, “Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.” Let us wield technology not as a crutch for mental indolence, but as a whetstone to sharpen our intellectual blades. Thank you. Copying answers directly may save time but it deprives us of critical thinking opportunities essential for lifelong learning. Though ocpying answers directly may save time, it deprives us of critical thinking opportunities essential for lifelong learning. 1】Submitting AI-generated work as our own violates academic integrity. 2】Only through balancing innovation and self-reliance can we become future-ready learners. I’m not known to be a particularly lucky person. Raffles (抽奖), t-shirt cannons, radio calls, random roommate selections — none of these ever seem to work out in my favor. But my fortune seemed to hit an all-time low last Monday. The day started nice enough. I went to work, got off at five and decided to head to the beach. It was sweltering hot, and I knew the cool waters of Lake Michigan would help wash away my sweat. The first sign of trouble was when my cellphone navigation stopped working properly and showed the wrong directions. I was new to the area and didn’t quite know my way around yet, so I ended up taking a wrong turn and driving through a web of neighborhoods, turning a 10-minute drive into a 40-minute one. But fine, I get lost often. I made it to the beach eventually. Took a quick dip in the water, had a bite of the butter paneer I had picked up earlier. I made it back to my car, pulling some clothes out to change into. As I headed to the restroom, I realized I had forgotten a shirt. So I walked back, tugged on the handle and realized with horror that my keys were sitting in the passenger seat of my car. I called AAA (American Automobile Association). As it turns out, I don’t have an AAA membership. I called my parents and they anxiously tried to figure out how to add me to their card, while my phone battery was at 21% and dropping. I called AAA again, and they informed me that they would be there in about an hour and a half, which seemed like a long time as I sat on top of the trunk of my car. The sun was lowering in the sky and the parking lot was emptying out. I heard thunder, and I saw people exiting the beach at an increasing rate. When I checked my weather app, I saw an alarming update: a heat advisory (预警), a 100% chance of a lightning storm, and a tornado warning. Fearful and alone, I stood frozen as thunder rolled closer. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The kind lady drove me through the pounding rain toward a nearby Starbucks. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Fearful and alone, I stood frozen as thunder rolled closer. The wind picked up, whipping sand against my legs, and raindrops began to fall down. Just as panic struck me, a silver sedan pulled up beside me. The window rolled down to reveal a middle-aged woman who had kind eyes. “You look like you could need some help,” she said, gesturing for me to get in. Without hesitation, I piled into her car, my relief drowning out the storm’s fury. The kind lady drove me through the pounding rain toward a nearby Starbucks. She chatted calmly about the weather, her voice was steady in the chaos. Once inside, she bought me a hot coffee and insisted on waiting with me until AAA arrived. As we sat, the tornado alarm disappeared in the distance, but her presence turned the crisis into a strange, shared adventure. When the tow truck finally pulled up, she handed me her umbrella and smiled. “Good luck,” she said. “And maybe tomorrow will be your lucky day.” I watched her drive off, my heart oddly lighter—proof that even in misfortune, kindness could still shine through. 词汇激活 行为类 ① 示意:gesture/signal ② 坚持:insist on/stick to ③ 淹没:drown out/swallow up 情绪类 ① 恐慌:panic/terror ② 宽慰:relief/comfort 【点睛】[高分句型1] “You look like you could need some help,” she said, gesturing for me to get in.(运用了现在分词作状语) [高分句型2]The window rolled down to reveal a middle-aged woman who had kind eyes. B “What have I gotten myself into?” I wondered as I sat through a research meeting conducted entirely in Polish, unable to even read the title on the screen. 27 What does the author imply about cross-cultural cooperations? A. They are essential for the advancement of science. B. They might box researchers out of a certain direction. C. They should prioritize language training over research. D. They are valueless for creative minds in scientific field. C Cutting carbon emissions(排放)is not enough to keep global warming to less than 1.5℃—the goal of the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change. And now, the company has its sights set on building a massive marine carbon capture(海洋碳捕获)facility in Quebec. Ultimately though, the young industry is full of uncertainties. D The future of space food could be simple and strange. We all want to be fearless public speakers. Raffles (抽奖) t-shirt cannons, radio calls, random roommate selections — none of these ever seem to work out in my favor. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The kind lady drove me through the pounding rain toward a nearby Starbucks ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
