A botanical introduction. B My mother-in-law asked me to climb a mountain in her rural village. We went through tall and weedy expanse of grass, pulling ourselves up with the help of smooth bamboo trees. Weathered gray rocks dotted tracks only visible to an experienced hiker. The view we were rewarded with halfway up the mountain, fixing our eyes upon the colorful pieces of fields and whitewashed homes set against the deep green hills and a sky so blue that it looked digitally polished, was a side benefit of being there. Our eyes were mostly on the wild eatable plants that grew on the mountainside. We first came upon the wild mountain bamboo, a plant that was the main part in my mother-in-law’s salted bamboo shoots that, once preserved, could be used all year long in cooking. Along the way, we also encountered another precious wild food — fiddlehead ferns (蕨菜). Those delicate leaves, when stir-fired, were a tasty treat. Once I had purchased fiddleheads at a market in the US. Yet there we were, picking this prized vegetable on our own, with only our labor as the cost. What we had collected that afternoon looked the same as any other wild mountain bamboo shoots and fiddlehead ferns I had seen before in my mother-in-law’s kitchen. And yet, they felt different to me because I had used my own hands to help pick them and carry them back down the mountain. Spending time and energy gathering these wild plants gave me a deeper appreciation for the food that ends up on the dinner table. “Many generations have kept this natural lifestyle. We depend on the mountains for our life,” my mother-in-law says. Those mountains and rivers supporting her life aren’t some abstract concept. They are right there, outside her door and within her rural village. Once I saw them through her angle that afternoon, I realized they are closer to me than I ever imagined. 4. Why was the author asked to climb a mountain? A. To pull some bamboo trees. B. To enjoy its beautiful scenery. C. To get some wild vegetables. D. To lake some digital pictures. 5. What made the picked fiddlehead ferns different? A. The fresh leaves. B. The input of labor. C. The rich nutrition. D. The help from Mother-in-law. 6. What does the author want to show by quoting her mother-in-law? A. Nature feeds villagers and sustains their life. B. City people want to settle down in mountains. C. Rural areas are inaccessible to some outsiders. D. Farmers dream of changing the natural lifestyle. 7. How does the author sound when telling the story? A. Humorous. B. Anxious. C. Satisfied. D. Tolerant. C It's generally believed that people act the way they do because of their personalities and attitudes .They recycle their garbage because the care about the environment .They pay $5 for a caramel brulée latte because they like expensive coffee drinks. It's undeniable that behavior comes from our inner dispositions (性情), but in many instances we also draw inferences about who we are, as suggested by the social psychologist Daryl Bem , by observing our own behavior .We can be strangers to ourselves .If we knew our own minds, why would we need to guess what our preferences are from our behavior? If our minds were an open book, we would know exactly how much we care about the environment or like lattes .Actually , we often need to look to our behavior to figure out who we are. Moreover, we don't just use our behavior to learn about our particular types of character—we infer characters that weren't there before .Our behavior is often shaped by little pressures around us, which we fail to recognize .Maybe we recycle because our wives and neighbors would disapprove if we didn't .Maybe we buy lattes in order to impress the people around us .We should not mistakenly believe that we always behave as a result of some inner disposition. Whatever pressures there can be or inferences one can make, people become what they do, though it may not be in compliance (符合) with their true desires .Therefore , we should all bear in mind Kurt Vonnegut's advice: “We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.” 8. According to the passage, personalities and attitudes are commonly believed to___. A. determine one's behavior B. reflect one's taste C. influence one's surroundings D. result from one's habits 9. Which of the following would Daryl Bem most probably agree with?__ A. The return of a wallet can indicate one's honesty. B. A kind person will offer his seat to the old. C. One recycles plastics to protect the environment. D One buys latte out of true love of coffee. 10. What can be inferred from the underlined sentence in the passage?___ A. We fail to realize our inner dispositions. B. We can be influenced by outside pressures. C. Our behavior is the result of our true desires. D. Our characters can shape our social relationships. 11. What does the author mainly discuss in the passage?___ A. Personalities and attitudes. B. Preferences and habits. C. Behavior and personalities. D. Attitudes and preferences. D While it may sound like something crawling out of your horrible dreams, cyborg cockroaches (蟑螂机器人) have arrived as friends rather than enemies. Scientists in Japan have designed a new remote-controlled insect, equipped with a battery “backpack” powered by solar panels. The cockroach, which is part insect and part machine, is intended to enter dangerous areas, monitor the environment or take on search and rescue missions without needing to be recharged. Famously able to survive a nuclear war, cockroaches have been the inspiration for a number of technologies in recent years. Different teams of scientists have designed remote-controlled robo-bugs that can climb walls, carry objects and find humans during search-and-rescue missions. The cockroaches are still alive, but wires attached to their two “cerci” (尾蚴) send electrical impulses that cause the insect to move right or left. A battery is necessary for the sending and receiving these electrical signals, which needs to be charged up. While it’s possible to build docking (对接) stations for recharging the battery, the need to return and recharge could disrupt time-tight missions. The team wanted to create a more practical version that did not need to return to a docking station when it ran out of power. Therefore, they designed a solar cell that could constantly ensure that the cockroach stays charged while it works. However, cockroaches have a limited surface area available for all the components necessary to move its legs and keep it powered. The solution was to design a special “backpack” that could carry both the wireless leg-control module and rechargeable lithium polymer battery. This was attached to the top of the insect on its thorax (胸腹), and was 3D printed to fit perfectly to the curved surface of the Madagascar cockroach. It allowed for this electronic device to be stably installed on the insect for over a month. 12. What are the functions of cyborg cockroaches? ①Climbing walls. ②Entering unsafe areas. ③Foretelling risks. ④Rescuing humans. ⑤Generating Power. ⑥Monitoring the environment. A. ①②③ B. ②③⑤ C. ③④⑥ D. ②④⑥ 13. What is the meaning of the underlined word “disrupt” in Paragraph 4? A. Interrupt. B. Extend. C. Execute. D. Shorten. 14. What is the key factor in controlling a cyborg cockroach remotely? A. The size of a cockroach. B. The leg-control module. C. The lifespan of a cockroach. D. The energy harvesting device. 15. What’s the main idea of this text? A Cockroaches are the inspiration of inventions. B The technology of solar panels is widely used. C. Search-and-rescue can’t be emphasized too much. D. Scientists have created a remote-controlled cyborg cockroach. At times, we might set unrealistic expectations for ourselves based on other people's standards. ___16___ Whenever we want to do something, it has to be done just right. I complained to Mom over the phone about the extreme boredom during the first week of my summer stay on my grandparents’ farm. Mom’s response was: “There is no point envying others! Just treasure your experience and have true joy. Not everyone gets an opportunity to live on a farm.” Her words gave me an idea, so I decided to compose my social media status (状态) updates on the farm. Then, my post hit the feed (出现在首页) the next morning: Alisa’s Status: 5:51 A. M. The rooster (公鸡) is standing tall, wings shining in the dawn light. He beats his wings, lifts his head high, and declares the start of a brand new day. Peter posted at 07:20 A. M., saying he was looking for sea turtle nests on the beach and hoping to locate one. Jade posted at 10:00 A. M., asking which color to paint a rock star’s house. They got 52 and 55 likes respectively. To my great delight, my post got almost the same amount of attention as theirs. Just as I was about to remark on their posts, Grandma stepped in, “Alisa, put your shoes on. We’re off to Magpie Flower’s farm to pick cherries.” Later that afternoon, I posted about the unexpected fun and described in vivid detail about the fantastic flavors of cherry pies. Responses? Peter said he wished he could taste one while Jade was envious of my farm adventure. After breakfast the next morning, Grandma said, “I was thinking that today might be a good day for you to explore the old barn (谷仓). I’ve spotted foxes nearby. Maybe you’ll find some cute baby foxes there.” “That would provide some raw materials for a worthy photo to post online,” I thought to myself. Para 1: With curiosity, I approached the old barn, and pushed the door open. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para 2: As I was waiting for the comments, something within me started to change. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 山东省实验中学2023级阶段性测试 英语试题 (2025.05) 说明:本试卷满分150分,分为第Ⅰ卷(选择题)和第Ⅱ卷(非选择题)两部分。 1. We first came upon the wild mountain bamboo a plant that was the main part in my mother-in-law’s salted bamboo shoots that, once preserved, could be used all year long in cooking. A. Humorous. B. Anxious. C. Satisfied. D. Tolerant. 4. C 5. B 6. A 7. Those delicate leaves, when stir-fired, were a tasty treat. Once I had purchased fiddleheads at a market in the US. Yet there we were, picking this prized vegetable on our own, with only our labor as the cost.(一路上,我们还遇到了另一种珍贵的野生食物——菜蕨。 根据最后一段““Many generations have kept this natural lifestyle. We depend on the mountains for our life,” my mother-in-law says.(“许多代人都保持着这种自然的生活方式。我们的生活依赖于山,”我的婆婆说)”可推知,作者引用婆婆的话是要表达大自然养活了村民,维持了他们的生活。故选A项。 根据倒数第二段“Spending time and energy gathering these wild plants gave me a deeper appreciation for the food that ends up on the dinner table.(花时间和精力收集这些野生植物让我对餐桌上的食物有了更深刻的认识)”以及最后一段“Once I saw them through her angle that afternoon, I realized they are closer to me than I ever imagined.(那天下午,当我从她的角度看到它们时,我意识到它们比我想象的更靠近我)”可推知,作者在讲这个故事时听起来很满足。故选C项。 C It's generally believed that people act the way they do because of their personalities and attitudes .They recycle their garbage because the care about the environment .They pay $5 for a caramel brulée latte because they like expensive coffee drinks. D. One buys latte out of true love of coffee. 8. A 9. A 10. B 11. A. Cockroaches are the inspiration of inventions. B. The technology of solar panels is widely used. C. Search-and-rescue can’t be emphasized too much. D. Scientists have created a remote-controlled cyborg cockroach. D 13. A 14. D 15. 根据第四段“The cockroaches are still alive, but wires attached to their two “cerci” (尾蚴) send electrical impulses that cause the insect to move right or left. A battery is necessary for the sending and receiving these electrical signals, which needs to be charged up. 和最后一段“The team wanted to create a more practical version that did not need to return to a docking station when it ran out of power. Therefore, they designed a solar cell that could constantly ensure that the cockroach stays charged while it works. 通读全文,尤其第二段“Scientists in Japan have designed a new remote-controlled insect, equipped with a battery “backpack” powered by solar panels. The cockroach, which is part insect and part machine, is intended to enter dangerous areas, monitor the environment or take on search and rescue missions without needing to be recharged. Peter was at the beach rescuing sea turtles and Jade was with her mother, a famous designer working for a celebrity, both of which were something exciting. But things were quite the opposite for me. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Para 1: With curiosity, I approached the old barn, and pushed the door open. A musty smell rushed out, which made me hold my breath for a moment. Inside, it was dark and quiet. I could hear my own heartbeat. As I walked further in, I noticed some straw on the ground. Suddenly, I saw a movement in the corner. It was a little fox, which was curled up and looked scared. I slowly knelt down, not wanting to frighten it. I realized that this was the experience that Mom had talked about, an opportunity that not everyone could have. Para 2: As I was waiting for the comments, something within me started to change. I found that I wasn’t as concerned about the number of likes as before. What truly mattered was the amazing moments that I had experienced on the farm, like meeting the little fox. I thought about what Mom said, that I should treasure my experience. This farm life, which was once so boring to me, had now become a precious treasure. I decided that I would continue to enjoy every moment here and share the real joy with my friends, not just the number of likes on social media. 词汇激活 行为类 ① 注意到:notice/spot ②思考:think about/ponder over 情绪类 ① 害怕的:scared/frightened ②令人惊喜的:amazing/surprising 【点睛】【高分句型1】A musty smell rushed out, which made me hold my breath for a moment.
